Hometown Good just does not drive it home enough. My Wife and I were Blessed when we lived in Colorado to find a place that made the Best Apple Fritters. Well, until we had the Apple Fritters at Rainbow. They are twice as good as those best Fritters! The fritters at Rainbow were perfectly cooked and perfectly balanced. From the fry on the outside, the soft center and the perfect glaze. Btw they are substantial! Yesterday was a great breakfast. This morning we had the red velvet donut. Again perfectly balanced. The donuts are real good. I was a fan. We also got a burrito and that was ok. The coffee, was interesting. Ice coffee was good but their hot coffee was not as good. The beans were burnt. We just moved to the neighborhood, and this has quickly become our regular go-to spot. The coffee is fantastic, and the donuts/pastries are always fresh. Stopped in on a Saturday morning after seeing a review from a fellow YELPER! (Thanks for the tip) We ordered a couple of breakfast burritos. They took about 7-10 minutes so we knew the eggs were fresh as were the other ingredients... potatoes, sausage, bacon and cheese. They were delicious! I forgot to ask for hot sauce so I missed out on that but they did include salsa in dipping cups for each of us. A very mild salsa. Understandable. I wonder if they have spicy salsa? We also ordered a "baker's dozen" of donuts = 14. Those donuts were so darn good. Horrible for you but on this day... we splurged. Lots of variety. We got chocolate iced, pumpkin spiced, red velvet and glazed. The place itself isn't much to look at... a divey kind of joint which I like. But, it was a wee bit on the dirty side in the sitting area. Some nice outdoor seating (see pics I will post). Limited parking. Menu is eclectic. They also have burgers, dogs, chicken and CHINESE! Best burger in York! So good. The service is hit or miss though. Try to go when it's not that busy because it gets pretty hectic in there with people trying to order a quick lunch around the people trying to pick out just the right combination of a dozen donuts. We are out of town and rely on Yelp to lead us in the right direction when it comes to local food. The reviews on this place interested us enough to drive 20 minutes out of our way. So glad we did! Like others Yelpers, we were intrigued by the eclectic variety of food choices, from American to Chinese, especially for a bakery, but our purpose for looking up a bakery in the area was for a decent breakfast sandwich on the go and a tasty treat to go along with it - and we were not disappointed! First, the croissant sandwich just might be the best we've ever had! The croissant is so light and flaky and almost melts in your mouth! Next the chocolate covered sour cream donut is to die for! If I wouldn't go into a diabetic coma or gain a million pounds, I could eat a dozen at once! We did get a glazed blueberry at the recommendation of many other Yelp reviews, but remember that diabetic coma I mentioned? I haven't tried it yet. ;) The only disappointing factor is we are both huge apple fritter fans and were looking forward to trying one, but they weren't quite ready. Oh...imagine one right out of the oven (okay, I'm done drooling). Seriously, if you are out of town and sick of corporate dining, support the locals and give this place a try. Fantastic. This review is updated from five years ago. They have moved locations and I can't say enough about this place. Very cute they offer breakfast sandwiches, burgers ,dogs, breakfast burritos, coffees, teas including boba, And of course donuts. Everyone will tell you to get the Apple fritter which is definitely excellent but the bear claws and regular donuts are fantastic too. My daughters and I come here at least once a week. Menu is not updated ordered over the phone when I got there and checked my food I was then told they were out of it what I ordered. Fries are hard and flavorless no seasoning they just give you ketchup. Cashier should check with the kitchen about menu items in stock .Since they've switched locations service is not the same some things are discontinued.
