I used to work in Fort Mill and dined at Ebenezer Grill often. Everyone is very friendly and courteous. I retired a few years ago. Since I live in Matthews I have not had the opportunity to go back. Don't go with high expectations of an exceptional experience because that's not what this place is about. You'll get local and friendly service but this place really caters to the regulars. It's not fancy at all but you'll get a decent breakfast as long as you're there before 1030a. The coffee is average so usually that's a good measure of what you might expect. I got there at 1035a so I missed breakfast but they did have some lunch specials. I had the pulled pork sandwich with the baked beans and cole slaw. The beans tasted like they were out of a can. The cole slaw was just OK. They tout they have received awards for their hot dogs. It's along way to go from Fort Mill for a hot dog but if I'm in there area, I might give it a try. read more

I can't believe this was my first time here. As a self-proclaimed foodie, missing out on a Rock Hill icon like Ebenezer Grill is shameful. I'm so glad I, finally, got to experience what makes this place so special. I forgot to take pictures before gobbling it all up so I'll include as much as I can. Yea. I know. It's gonna be long. Can you appreciate the enthusiasm, though? First of all: Bring CASH. It is a small Mom & Pops that keep their prices low by not having to pay fees every time plastic is swiped. CC are costly to businesses and this place keeps it simple with CASH ONLY. They have an ATM inside that you can use that charges a small fee. I paid $1.50 fee. WORTH IT. Second: It has a welcoming environment with lots of regulars that the owners spend time talking to as many of them as they can. Attention "People Watchers", you're gonna LOVE it. The Mr. & Mrs. are so kind and adorable! Watching them enjoy their customers, while their kick-ass-awesome staff takes care of you, is something to see and hear!! These people have it down to a science that is very impressive!! And the Mrs. is beautiful with a smile that can warm the coldest of hearts!!! Third: If you're looking for some trendy, with perfectly appointed deco...STAY AWAY. There's plenty of those around for you. This building has been here since the 1970s that is covered inside with nostalgic pictures and customer signatures of Rock Hillians through the years. Add your own signature while you're there if you can find an open space. Fourth: LET'S TALK ABOUT THE FOOD!!! Great down-home breakfast selection that includes country ham and liver mush with the other usual fares. Since I came in on a Saturday at 1pm, I didn't get to try it this time. I can't wait to get back to do so! Breakfast is, clearly, a favorite here. The lunch menu is limited to what makes this place famous. Hotdogs (get them ATW with their no bean chili), Burgers, and their In-house, smoked, pulled pork bbq, and perfectly cooked crinkle fries. OMG!!! The hotdogs have been named best for 19 yrs running and you'll see why. Cheeseburger was juicy & delicious, the pulled pork was on point with the SAUCE ON THE SIDE so you could actually taste the Q! The sauce is the best of both that's ketchup & vinegar with the right seasonings. My daughter LOVED it, too. Order the house made ranch dressing to dip EVERYTHING in. We could DRINK that ranch!!!! They also have onion rings and some good iced tea that's not super sweet. If you're a Cherry-Lemon Sundrop fan, get their Cherry Mellow Yellow. Coke products here with Diet Coke as the only "diet" other than unsweetened iced tea. A daily cake/pie choice or cookies to top it all off with. BTW...The beef & veg soup was delicious!!! Comes with cornbread for dipping. Ask server about Soup and Dessert of the day! FIFTH: Every table has menus, S&P, ketchup, mustard, paper towels, and TEXAS PETE. IN A SQUIRT BOTTLE!! I always say "If they have TEXAS PETE (NOT any of those other so-called hot sauces), then this is my kind of place!" BE WARNED: It seems this establishment is jumping any time of day but they take care of you at lightening speed. No joke. Service is FAST. Or call in To-go. And get there before they start running out of what you want! HOURS & PRICES: Thursday thru Saturday ONLY 6:30am-2pm Breakfast ends at 10:30am Prices are RELIEF to the wallet in these "They want HOW much for that?!?" days. Example...a TWO hotdog (how you want them) plate WITH FFs is $7. That's what I'm talking about. Plentiful serving sizes of everything. But it's all so good, you'll want even more!! Well I heard this restaurant mentioned on the radio the other day and since it was lunch time and I was in the Hill, I thought I'd give it a try. The parking lot was full so I was worried that there would be no place to sit, but I was wrong, I initially sat at the counter, but a table opened up behind me. There was only a breakfast menu, so they had to scrounge up a lunch menu for me. This place has a very limited menu just hot dogs, hamburger, Barbecue, and a cold plate. I saw on signs all around the place,voted best hot dogs in Rock Hill, so I ordered the two dogs and a fry special that is $7.50. I had three people ask me for my order right after I received the menu, so even though the place is small, at least they are attentive. Then I waited and waited for about fifteen minutes wondering why this is taking so long. I finally get my order and was told by the waitress that she gave my order to the man behind me by mistake. Now to the food. If this is the best hot dog in Rock Hill, then there must only be one other place that sells hot dogs in town. The dogs are normal sized and all the way consist of ketchup, mustard, slaw, and chili. I had mine without the ketchup. The chili had no seasoning, it tastes like just ground beef, the slaw was pretty much just generic stuff you get at Food Lion, and I was unable to determine what kind of critter the meat was derived from. The fried were crinkle cut, but are your run of the mill frozen variety. They don't take credit cards, but that's no big deal, and I give them a star for having a 100 sanation score. I guess next trip to the Hill, I'll have to visit the Quik Trip and get me a roller dog, it can't be much worse and the service might be quicker! read more

Note: Cash only. Came in here on a rainy Saturday and the place was hopping. There is plenty of parking in the back so just pull on around. No real host/hostess just seat yourself. Though if there is a wait, you'll just be chillin in the front of the restaurant. We found a table and a server quickly came over. I imagine most folks are regulars here but it was our first visit, and we had to ask for a bit more time to review the menu. We all settled on the two hot dogs and fries for $5.50. What a deal! I actually got half fries and half onion rings with my hot dogs with chili, mustard, and slaw. The hot dogs were good. The buns were very soft (not toasted though :/). The slaw had a nice vinegar bite too. I didn't love the "chili." Essentially it was seasoned ground beef. Though well seasoned, I like my chili with a bit more liquid to it. The fries and onion rings were ok. Service was fine and our drinks were always full. When you're done you go up to the counter to pay. There are lots of things to like about Ebenezer Grill. Another great spot in rock hill a little hidden gem shall I say. I've only tried their breakfast which I tried the bacon and egg and cheese sandwich my first time. Everything inside the sandwich was good I didn't like how a little too toasted the bread was. I then tried a western omelette with a side of country ham. The omelette was good the country ham was ok and pricey for the size but still good. My last breakfast conquest lead me to try the biscuits..DING DING DING! A winner! Their biscuits are so soft and moist and just the best I've ever had. Bacon egg and cheese and liver mush egg and cheese are my two personal favorite. Paired with a cup of coffee you're bound to have a great day. Have made them my favorite biscuit restaurant in rock hill. Looking forward to trying lunch! Parking is easy and it's also easy to find. There is so much about this place that I immediately love. That probably says more about me than anything else... but in my first visit I met the owner, Lloyd, and had the greatest laugh I've had in awhile when he looked at my friend (whom he knows very well, BTW) and said, "I went to a funeral the other day and thought of you." I met the bubbly and vivacious, Pat, who wouldn't let me leave without a hug. Ebenezer Grill is that long established, iconic diner that is what it is and is loved and supported by all her locals. It's a jewel whose adoration is showed by the decades of inked messages scrawled over every square inch of her walls. She is well loved and I am privileged now to know her. The food is simple, well made, and honest. Lloyd is honest, too, I hear.... maybe a little too honest. I have been going here since 2006. I always get one of two items: Hot dog or Cheeseburger. The staff is always pleasant, friendly and attentive! Sadly the quality of the burgers have diminished the past few years. They pre-cook them and throw them back on the grill to reheat them. This makes them absorb more grease, they are way over cooked and lack flavor. Since Nov 2013, I have been about 12 times and 10 of them the food was not so great. I drive 12.8 miles one way just to eat here in hopes they will provide the quality food they use too but sadly I remain stupid for trying and disappointed each time. I say I won't return but for some reason I still have hope in them. read more

Food and service has always been great, and was still fantastic this time UNTIL I was finishing my meal and felt something on my leg. I look down and it's a cock roach crawling up my leg. I knock it off and tell a server so he can take care of it, which he did. The thing that gets me is no one said a word afterwards. Love the grill but if cleanliness is an issue I won't return. We found this on a list of the " 11 best hot dogs in South Carolina" A few weeks ago we took the trip from Columbia SC to Rock Hill to give their dogs a try. To keep it fair we have had chili, mustard & onion at each place. I see why they are on the list !!! Very good dog, the chili was good & the onions were right in size& taste. Our service was VERY good even though we were right before closing time. The owners took things a step farther ..When I went to pay I took out my "card" ..well they don't take plastic. at that point we checked , did not have cash nor the checkbook. they told us to either pay next time or send a check, this was on a Saturday & Monday a check was in the mail They even gave our server the tip that we were going to leave!! Ebenezer Grill is the BEST for breakfast &/or Lunch. The food and service is outstanding! The hardest part is deciding what to order as I've loved trying everything on their menu. Atmosphere is friendly, neighborly, and ALL the signatures on the wall make it fun -take a Sharpie to add yours. Love all the pictures of the staff & customer's puppy dogs on the walls too.
