This place is definitely for the locals I'd say. I found myself having some business in Lancaster SC and stopped in for a chicken Philly. To review the food only- it was definitely nothing to brag about. It seemed like they cut half of a small Chicken breast and used mushrooms as the rest of the filler. We have a little mixed feelings about this place.. we walked in and no one acknowledged us, I had to hunt someone down and they finally told us to sit wherever we wanted. Once seated it took almost 25 min for someone to come to the table.. I'm pretty sure there is only 1 server. We got our drinks about 5 min later then it took another 40 minutes to get our food. I will say the food is really good. I got the loaded potato and my husband got the chicken salad. It's good if you don't mind waiting a little while. Chicken tender basket - dipped in hot sauce. Coleslaw.=Gross- bland and trash worthy. Fries were edible.~No salt.~Crisp & drained well..... chicken.~UGH wtf? There was a WELL of oil in the bottom of our paper serving boats! When I say dipped in hot sauce. I don't mean a VAT of fake butter liquid & a dash of hot sauce. Damn. Grinders Resturant is a local hotspot. There is a bar and ample seating. It is family friendly. The options on the menu are plenty. Food is served quickly. The food was fresh and very good. I had a grilled pimento cheese sandwich and a side of tater tots. The rest of my party had salads which were fresh and appetizing. Ordered Grinders from Door dash tonight. Door dash was wonderful. The order and food from Grinders was not. I could have bought a bag of frozen chicken tenders from Aldis and got the same taste I got from Grinders tonight. The chicken wing sauce was good, but the wings were so small im not even sure I could special order such tiny chicken wings if I tried. The orderd of fries were soggy and again, could have achieved abetter result from a frozen bag from Aldis. Also they screwed up my order and I had to call for the rest of my food that they forgot. read more

I have been to Grinder's several times. This time was the worst. Not the first time it has been bad. We waited for a hour to get our food. We went to pay and ask the cashier to just box it we were ready to go. She to us NO the waitress is going to bring it out. She did and it was cold. One waitress is load and slow. We had to ask for plates for the appetizer. Th cashier is the rudest person I have ever meet. She got a attitude with my son said they were busy. How busy are you at 9:00 at night when you are closing. She then we had a lot of call in orders. And this is our fault why? All restaurants serve their inside customers first or they will not be back like us. We watched 3 tables come in after us and they got their food. Tried really hard to like this place. Their craft beer selection wasn't all that bad, but the wait staff couldn't tell me anything about the beer of the month. Finally ordered a few Georgia based brews after having to do a bit of research. Menu wasn't all that bad. Got Hush puppies, tater tots, and coleslaw to go. When it comes to small town, mom & pop places, this is a keeper. If you just want a hot dog, a couple apps or maybe their famous Grinder Burger, they all come out hot and yummy. The staff really tries and keep everyone happy, even on busy nights. They have a nice selection from a local brewery also. It took a while for the waitress to notice us, then she brought us our drinks and didn't come back to take our food order for quite some time. I have only been to this place once and will never go again. It was raining, and as the meal went on I noticed the ceiling leaking on to our table top. I ordered a Liquid Marijuana as it was Saturday and I wanted a drink after grocery shopping. Didn't realize that they don't have a "functioning" bar as waitress had to get one of the guys in the back to come up and make my drink. Bad mistake. It was watered down, barely green, and super carbonated (never had one carbonated). The food was eatable, but I had to ask for Mayo 2x. The waitresses seemed miserable. Grinders is not in my rotation of lunch places. The service is friendly when you can get it, but the wait for food has been extremely slow every time I've been there. I don't understand the wait time either, because most of the food I've tried seems microwaved. I've tried to give them a fair shake because my family has been going there on and off for years. I like their philly cheesestake with au jus, but it's not out of this world. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich once and it had absolutely no seasoning. It had a weird watery taste and not even any salt or pepper. I like the fried cheese balls dipped in the wine and cheese dressing, but they have to be a bought frozen item, because I've had ones that taste identical at other restaurants. I don't mind that in an appetizer, but I need the entrée to be better. The 'Wine and Cheese' dressing was the entire reason for going there in the paste. It was amazing and I'd never had anything else like it. I'll be honest that I don't know where it comes from, but I was told by someone in the past that they ordered it from Naturally Fresh: http://naturallyfresh.com/product/wine/. I think at one point they were going to stop selling it and customer demand made them bring it back (at least that was what I was told). Now, it doesn't taste the same. I haven't tried the naturally fresh, because you have to order large quantities of it. Not that I wouldn't quickly use a gallon, but because I would quickly use a gallon. I'd drown in it. So I don't know if they're making it in house, buying it from elsewhere, or what. It just doesn't taste the same to me, so whether it's in my imagination or not, it isn't a reason for me to go any more. I honestly think this could be an awesome place to have lunch. It's got a good pub feel. If they would spruce up the place, serve a higher quality of food, and get their service time down, people would be flocking there. Lancaster doesn't really have an eatery place like this and the fact that they have craft beers on tap, including the local Benford Brewing and my personal favorite Old Mecklenburg's Copper, would turn it into a really cool, local place to go. I don't think it would take major changes either. So here's hoping the do some work on it and I'll be back in there in a heart beat. read more
