Stopped by for a nice breakfast. Waitress was very friendly, nice, brought over coffee and many refills. The Senior Special (One Waffle and Three Pieces of Crisp Bacon) was delicious. The All Star Special was also great with bacon, waffle, two eggs, toast, and grits. We'll be coming back soon!

One of the best teamwork I've seen in a long time, old fashion call it out, and orders in. Breakfast is great, and a very reasonable price

Went to Waffle House and there some sweet people working at night. The food was fresh and very good. We enjoyed the company they gave.

After waiting an hour at Huddle House across the street the best decision we could make was going across the street to The WaffleHouse.

The menu is massive, but you really can't go wrong with their Southern staples. The Shrimp & Grits is legendary for a reason--super creamy and packed with flavor. If you're leaning more toward breakfast, their chicken and waffles or the thick-cut French toast are absolute winners. The portions are huge, so definitely come hungry. Since they moved to their new spot near the Spectrum Center, it's a perfect stop after a game or a night out Uptown. It's busy, loud, and exactly what a diner should be. Plus, the service is surprisingly fast given how packed they usually are. Highly recommend if you want that old-school Charlotte feel!

By the…read moretime we got settled in, dining options were pretty limited, so we searched online and this spot looked like the best choice -- and we're glad we found it. When we pulled up, there was a police outside, which didn't bother us. If anything, it made things feel more secure. They also use a metal detector when you walk in before being seated. Don't let that scare you off though -- this place is a well-oiled machine and everything felt organized and under control. Our server was fantastic: calm, attentive, and never pushy. I ordered the country fried steak with collards and mashed potatoes with gravy, and my husband got a burger. My meal was excellent, and it came with a perfectly flaky biscuit. The tea was Southern SWEET tea, too. My husband said his burger was good for a diner, fresh vegetables and the fries were seasoned well. The diner itself is adorable, full of character and charm. Overall, we had a great experience and would absolutely come back.

"Retreat? More like Retreat from Flavor."…read more If you're looking for a place with gorgeous views, a nice interior, and food that tastes like it was prepared by a distracted toddler with access to a microwave -- look no further! Let's start with the espresso martini, which arrived looking like it had just lost a bet with a gallon of skim milk. It tasted like someone whispered the word "coffee" into a glass of dairy and then threw in three coffee beans to give the illusion of effort. Fancy? Sure. Flavorful? Absolutely not. I've had stronger coffee vibes from a candle. Didn't get any appetizers, probably a blessing in disguise. Straight to the pasta, which came out looking like it had just been scooped out of a kid's menu at a bowling alley birthday party. Imagine Chef Boyardee got promoted and immediately overcharged for it. That's the vibe. As for the service, it was slow enough that I had time to consider starting a new life as a lake hermit. When it came time to pay, I literally had to write down my order to help the server -- who then still managed to create a culinary version of musical chairs with our table's meals. Everyone got someone else's dish, which might've been fun if it were a potluck. It was not. The scenery? Gorgeous. The inside of the restaurant? Super nice. Honestly, if they'd served the ambiance instead of the food, this would've been a five-star experience. But alas, The Retreat truly lived up to its name -- I retreated straight to the nearest gas station for a Lunchable and some dignity.
