Bear Walrus in Rock Hill, SC is outstanding! I had lunch there with a girlfriend on 7/17/26, and…read moreeverything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and the customer service was top-notch. What really earned this 5-star review happened after my visit. While reconciling my account on 7/29/26, I noticed a $45 charge for an item I didn't order. I called and spoke with Tiffany, who was incredibly kind and assured me she would speak with the manager, Philip. When I called back the next day, Katie was already expecting my call and immediately connected me with Philip. He had all the details, sincerely apologized, refunded the $45 without hesitation, and even gave me his personal number in case the refund didn't post. That level of honesty, communication, and trust is rare. Thank you, Tiffany, Katie, and Philip, for turning a billing mistake into an example of exceptional customer service. If you're looking for amazing comfort food, friendly people, and a place that truly feels like home, Bear Walrus is it. It's Rock Hill's version of "Cheers." I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the Charlotte area! :::writing

Very busy Friday night. Our reservations for 6:45 pm didn't guarantee seating at that time, 20…read moreminute wait estimated, got lucky and found seats at the bar while getting cocktails. Bartenders were really entertaining and I actually preferred it. We've had dinner there before and opted not to move to a table. Prime rib - Friday night special. AMAZING. 8 oz portion rare was juicy and so flavorful. Crust was peppery and delicious, perfect with savory heat from the horseradish cream. Mac and cheese was super creamy and just the right amount of pepper, made with shells, cheese pull galore. The collards were on point and packed with chunks of pork. The tri tip was sliced thin and stayed juicy but that chimichurri was the showstopper. It was fresh and spicy and totally made the dish! Beans were too smoky for me, hubby said they were good. Potato salad was solid but not sure any potato dish could top that Mac! Sparkling rose was just a teensy bit sweet, very refreshing and divine. Bartender said it's one of the best wines on their list. Hubby had Tito's and cranberry, also excellent. They have a good draft selection too. No oysters for us on this trip, but they did have a list and the raw bar was fully seated and enjoying them. We totally enjoyed oysters last time. Longer table down the middle would make it easy for large parties and they did have several large groups in as well. Overall it was a pretty energetic vibe with a fun but casual ambience. Dress it up if you like, but jeans are also okay. Games were on the three TVs at the bar, or maybe there were 4 TVs. Bartenders were fun to hang out with and provided all the menu recommendations and entertainment we could want.

Music was a good mix of multi-decade rock and feel good music. I had the jalapeño turkey burger which was good, but messy. Tater tots on the side were cooked perfect, which doesn't always happen. My wife had the beef tacos and street corn. The tacos were very good. The street corn was impressive, but too much lime. The waitress offered to have them remade and they came back perfect in just a few minutes. Nice recovery. Overall, the food is much better than you'd expect and a good place to stop through for a casual lunch.

Where do I even begin?!…read more First off, the owner, Michelle (I believe that's her name), may want to take a closer look at who she has working for her, because from what I've personally witnessed, there are some serious issues happening behind the scenes. Between the fights, unpaid tabs, and what seems to be a shortage of customers, it's pretty obvious that something isn't working. And honestly, I think I can give a little insight into why this bar seems to be heading in the direction it is. Let's start with the lack of professionalism from some of the bartenders. I've witnessed behavior that is completely inappropriate for a professional workplace, including what appeared to be drug use in the bathroom (ALLEGEDLY). Then there's the favoritism--certain customers getting free food and drinks while everyone else is expected to pay. (ALLEGEDLY) Another major issue is the way some of the bartenders interact with the patrons. There are bartenders who, from what I've personally witnessed, maintain ongoing sexual relationships with patrons while knowing those patrons are already in relationships themselves (ALLEGEDLY). There seems to be very little separation between employees and customers, and the amount of personal drama that comes from these situations is ridiculous (ALLEGEDLY). And it's not just casual flirting. When employees are knowingly becoming involved with customers who have significant others, it creates unnecessary drama, tension, jealousy, and conflict inside the establishment (ALLEGEDLY). Then everyone is left wondering why the place is constantly dealing with problems. ‍ The owner can remove the outside tables, move the speakers, rearrange the furniture, or make whatever other changes she thinks will fix things--but the call is coming from inside the house! The biggest problem appears to be the STAFF. I've also witnessed situations where certain people seem to receive special treatment or are allowed to come in without paying because of arrangements involving drugs (ALLEGEDLY). Again, this is the kind of behavior that creates an environment where professionalism goes completely out the window. Honestly, the whole atmosphere can feel like high school drama instead of a professional bar (ALLEGEDLY). And ladies, if you're in a relationship, I'd seriously think twice about bringing your man here based on what I've personally witnessed. There's way too much flirting, favoritism, and employee/customer drama happening, and it creates an uncomfortable environment (ALLEGEDLY). Now, I will give credit where credit is due: Crystal is, by far, the most professional bartender I've encountered there. She actually knows how to conduct herself, treat customers appropriately, and carry herself like a professional. Unfortunately, my overall experience with the rest of the staff has been extremely disappointing. At the end of the day, if the owner really wants to understand why this establishment is struggling, I'd suggest looking much closer at what's happening inside the bar--not just changing what's outside of it. The problems don't appear to be the tables or the speakers. It's the people behind the bar. (ALLEGEDLY) Take away: Bartenders give out coochie, drinks & Food FOR FREE (ALLEGEDLY) Owner/Owners of Time Out, you want to clean up this bar start by Drug testing those bartenders * Give them lessons on professionalism * Teach them how to make drinks * Teach them "Legs Closed, No Nose Candy, & serve the drinks NOT YOUR THATS IT!"(ALLEGEDLY) & for the love of God teach Gina how to pour a FULL CUP . Note: McKenna - Drug Test Tiana - Drug Test Marlee - Drug Test Laci - Drug Test Gina - Teach her how to make & Pour the drinks Crystal - PROMOTE HER ASAP Ps:They also allow patrons to come a sell drugs in there all because that's their dealers/friends (ALLEGEDLY) RUN THEM TAPES BACK & CLEAN HOUSE XOXO

Well what can I say? This was the first bar I have ever been too in South Carolina, I did a little search for bars close by after getting into town for a few days and finally was rested from driving 1,300 miles for 4 days, and decided to explore! I've only been in South Carolina for less than 3 weeks as I'm writing this, and I have gone to Palmetto's 3 times so far. Showed up last Tuesday and was a little surprised because It was super packed! Nevertheless I soon found out it was pool league night. Very cool atmosphere even with it being crowded the place was still cozy and comfortable. Other than I guess Tuesday it's pretty chill, the crowds come and go as any good ol boy bar. Also I must say I am a black woman, but I am country as hell and love country music and rock music, hahaha so rest assured, I haven't gotten any nasty looks whenever I go here , and everyone shows recognition to any gestures and voicing something out loud. Both the bartenders I have encountered were very laid back and non judgmental. Also just for notes sake, I do go out by myself so I'm never in a crowd. I might go on a tinder date or something with a guy and go bar hopping but 99% when I go places I go alone. Much easier that way if you ask me. Anywho! I don't mean to be too long winded and over talk a nice simple bar that I just have grown to love in a very short amount of visits. Overall! I highly recommend if you like a REAL southern bar full of old-timers and cowboys.
