Wagon Wheel on Saturday! Oh no...mob scene? Well, a manageable one but the parking lot was nearly full, having to park well away from the front door. And there were four of us. Ant it was at prime time noon. All the negatives standing as giant barriers to overcome, but this was all in a day's work for the Wagon Wheel. We were seated within 10 minutes. Alden A. was our wait person and he seemed to be new, but he came through in spades, always refilling drinks and asking if we needed anything. Great job. Did not know that they DO have Saturday specials...look on the back of the menu book. Good deal. Love the portions GIANT and everything comes out hot and tasty. I don't know how the kitchen can keep up with the crowds on weekends. Wonderful food, super service and you are not rushed, no matter how crowded. This is one of my favorite restaurants. Probably ate here more than 200 times. The food is fantastic. I only had one meal that I didn't like (cutlet). The fried squash has been famous since at least 1990. Service is good, though the kitchen can get backed up at busy times. Looks are not great, but honest for the type of restaurant it is. read more

First time at the Wagon Wheel and will be back. Started with the Fried Squash. When it showed up I thought they gave us the wrong size because it was a lot of squash and we only ordered the small. The small is what we got and it was a lot of squash. The squash was crispy on the outside and delicious in the inside. I expected it to be somewhat watery as sometimes a fried vegetable ends up a little watery but not here. Crispy and hot. Delicious. For my main I went with the 1/2 fried chicken with a baked potato. Well, if you are looking for a small town experience, the Wagon Wheel steps up to the plate! Great food, great service, and lovely atmosphere make this a one-of-a-kind experience. Located in Fort Lawn, the Wagon Wheel has been around a long time. I think k before the community center opened, it was THE place to gather. The food is solid South Carolina. Great smoked BBQ (pulled pork). Great fried chicken. Great sides. The Mac and cheese, the collard greens, oh my! You can't beat the food and you can't beat the friendly servers! Perhaps the most fun is to see how ingrained the restaurant is in the community. People come in and share stories, discuss births and deaths, and just events. It's really a slice of America. On my first visit to the Wagon Wheel, went with friends for the Sunday Buffet, it was wonderful. There was quite a line to get in, and it snaked all around the front of building. It was a wee bit unorganized, but they got us a table for 4 pretty quickly. The food on the buffet was wonderful a great variety too. Really enjoyed the BBQ, the ham, Mac and cheese, collard greens. Pam was our server and she handled the crowd wonderfully. The rolls were a good touch and the Pecan Cobbler w/ice cream was excellent. Will be back read more

I meet friends for Sunday lunch, but since they were out of town, I went on my own. There was a line but moving reasonably. When I told the man doing the seating (I think he's the owner) I was by myself, he pointed to a table, said the lady sitting there was getting ready to leave. Fix myself a plate, then sit at that table. I did as I was told and waited for a waitress to bring silverware and take my drink order. As a waitress was walking by, she told me I could not sit there. I told her the man doing the seating told me to sit there. She started giving me a hard time that the table wasn't clean. Why give me a hard time for doing EXACTLY what I was told to do? If the table needs to be cleaned, clean it. Don't blame me. I left and went to JoMars where I was treated courteously and left a generous tip. I think it changes weekly so probably want to call ahead. Arrived around 1:15 with no line. (They open at 11a). Blueberry muffin & roll so good (off the hook) Towards the end of our meal they brought out fried fish pieces WOW yumm. Tasted like same breading on the awesome fried squash. Green beans great. Did not get to try the banana pudding "not today ". Lemon soft serve ice cream fabulous. Cheesecake good. Salad bar was ok. The cost though....$34 :2 people, 1 tea, 1 water. First time stopping in this little restaurant. It's located in a small town of Fort Lawn, SC, somewhere between Rock Hill and Lancaster SC. When my wife and I passed by on a trip, we noticed that this is about the only restaurant on the road in this town, and made an effort to see what all the hubub was about. It is almost like going back in time, you know the feeling if they take credit cards or not or if they even know what one is. In this case, its a cash only restaurant, (sure) they have a small ATM in the front lobby that charges $2.00 but they do have a sign on the door reflecting no credit cards accepted. We were promptly greeted and seated by the host. They do have a lot of employees working here and they all seemed very nice, and friendly. Our server was very polite, and very attentive to our drinks. They do offer a very diverse menu with vegetables, meats and of course the good ole southern classics. Our food came out quick, it was hot, fresh, and a very generous portion size. The food was very good, and we will make an effort to stop by again, if we are in this small SC town. I don't get what all the hype is. Didn't feel it lived up to what the locals have been saying. I only went once, I always give 2nd chances. I will be back to see if the 1st time was just an off night. Waitress we had barely spoke the guy seating us was not very friendly. Food was "ok". I guess we shall see next time. Of course I will give grace, we were just coming out of covid, so things still weren't normal so to speak.
