I drive through Great a few times a month. One day I saw a facebook post about Flopeye Diner, and wondered why I hadn't stopped by. Months later, I stopped on my way home. A bubbly young lady took my order and offered some suggestions. Sadly, I wasn't a fan of the food. The regular customers seemed to be happy. I was told breakfast is delicious.

Was traveling through here for work and stopped in tonight. Best meal I've had in weeks. This is the definition of my ideal roadside diner. The staff were so kind and attentive to me. The ambiance inside made me feel like I was back home. My server was so kind. If I'm ever in the area again I know where I'll be eating.

Food was so good and the service was great. Our family of 4 and 2 friends all found yumminess. Food was quick and so tasty.

Love visiting my grandma's hometown also like being one of the first customers here early in the morning on the way to Charlotte. I enjoy the shredded hash browns with over easy eggs and crispy liver mush. Definitely an ole school diner off the beaten path.

Just one little, whimsical arrangement of cheery decorations in the outdoor dining area.

We were driving from Pittsburgh to Orlando when I suddenly had the urge for some good Southern, home style eats. Yelp directed us to the Flopeye Diner. WOW! This is why I love Yelp.... Everything we had was mouthwateringly delicious. My husband ordered a Country-fried steak and said it was the best one he'd had since living in Houston thirty years ago. I ordered fried okra, greens, and fried chicken. Sooooo good. We also got an order of chicken livers, which was more like a meal than an appetizer. We ate waaay too much and had leftovers, which we ate in the hotel last night. The Flopeye Diner was so good that we are going to drive the 17 hours to Florida again --instead of flying-- just so we can eat there again. No lie.

Philly cheesesteak as big as my arm with Onion Rings and Flounder (2 Pieces) with French Fries, Hush Puppies, and coleslaw!

If you're hungry this place will feed you! Casual, country atmosphere and a diverse clientele. The patio was a lovely place to relax after our meal, too.

Amazing little gem! Do not judge the place by the quirky, wildly fun exterior. Food was awesome. Felt like I was in someone's kitchen. Pancakes were fluffy and huge. French toast was tasty, flavorful. The cinnamon & powdered sugar. Seems they have a breakfast menu but the lunch/dinner is daily/changing What a great breakfast!

$23.56 for 12 wings and a large curly fry. Plus they didn't get my order right over the phone so had to wait in fries.

They are slow, overpriced, and they consistently get my order wrong. Unfortunately there's not much else in town. $23.56 for 12 wings and a large curly fry. Plus they didn't get my order right over the phone so had to wait in fries.

Now I'll admit -- I'm a tough judge of cornbread. A lot of people will serve it to you as dry as the desert. Crumbly. Without any love. At the southern pecan, I could've had a whole sheet of their cornbread -- it was pleasantly delicious. Also of note: Our server was prompt and kind. The vibe inside was really cool too. Overall, I'd come back!

We started with the hush puppies and raw oysters. The mignonette was really interesting, chunky with apples (I think?). It wasn't really my thing personally, but definitely unique. The hush puppies came out HOT and crispy with a honey sauce. You can also get them dusted with cinnamon and sugar, which I thought was a fun option. For lunch, I went with the pecan crusted catfish with oven baked mac and cheese and collard greens. The catfish was SO crispy but still delicate inside, and that pecan topping was delicious. The mac and cheese was creamy and cheesy with a bubbly, crunchy top. The collard greens were perfectly seasoned. Sometimes collards can be way too vinegar heavy, but these had a really nice balance. Everything came out HOT, which I always appreciate. Really enjoyed the meal and the atmosphere here!

There were several "reserved" tables that remained empty until after we had finished eating, so I think the restaurant could benefit from a better reservation system with more accurate buffer times to accommodate walk-in guests. To avoid the wait, we decided to sit at the bar, and I'm glad we did because the food was amazing. The fried chicken and waffles were perfectly seasoned, and the waffle had a unique texture and flavor that reminded me of a combination of a traditional waffle and a soft pretzel. The cheesy potato cake was absolutely delicious. The fruit bowl was also good, but I wish they had been a little more generous with the blueberry pudding. The shrimp and grits came with large tomatoes, which may not be for everyone, and my friend felt the dish was lacking grits overall. She didn't feel like she got her money's worth. Would I go back? Absolutely. My meal was delicious, and I can't wait to return and try more of their homemade, fresh dishes. I also think it's great that they partner with local farmers to help curate their menu.

Mac & cheese was alright. Cocktails were great. We also tried their champagne tender and it was super crispy and had the taste of champagne. Service was decent.
