Pleasantly surprised by this place !!! We stopped in with our dog and grabbed the last spot outside! They have tables set up in the alley by the entrance, and it is really cute and tucked away. Great if you're bringing a dog along. Our server was very friendly, and we felt taken care of. We ordered the steak and eggs and the steak avocado toast. Both were delicious!!! Very unique restaurant in OldTown Rockhill. The menu is very good. I had the Shrimp and Grits, and I know you think big deal, but they definitely put a spin on the dish and it is delicious. We stopped in here without a reservation this past Saturday night around 6:30 pm, and luckily, we were quickly seated in the back room (the main room was full). We've dined in the back room twice by now, and we noticed that the service is MUCH slower. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before the waitress came to our table! For drinks, my husband had beer (as usual), and I tried their "Pineapple Express". Frankly, the drink was a bit weak in terms of alcohol...and tasted just OK. Also, the waitress accidentally spilled some on the desk. Oh Well? We ordered the Avocado Pull Apart Bread for appetizer...which was our second time, and was really good. For the entree, my husband ordered the BBQ Baby Back Ribs, which he seemed to enjoy...and I tried their Blackened Salmon Pasta. For the first time ever at Flipside, I did not like this dish. It was WAY too salty, and I thought it could have used a bit more veggies (not just tomatoes and a tiny sliver of spinach). In a way, I was surprised how little I liked this Salmon dish. I say this 'cuz I always tell everyone how EVERYTHING at this restaurant is so on point. Surprisingly, not the case this time. The kitchen staff really needs to rework this dish...it's just WAY too salty....and too saturated in grease. Obviously I will not order this again. Still this restaurant is probably our favorite in town. While I'd normally drop 2 for the food and drink experience I've had, I'm going to go with 3 stars...only because I know other dishes here are great. I just know now not to order this Salmon dish. Had a wonderful time here for brunch today. Cool atmosphere. Not overly crowded like so many brunch places on the weekend. Nice balance between southern diner and modern eatery. Sat at the bar. Matt and Eric were great! Food was fresh and well prepared. Only knock is I would've wanted my grits warmer and with a creamier consistency. But the flavor was there! Omelet was solid with large roughly cut vegetables and fluffy eggs. My acquaintance enjoyed his truffle mushroom bowl. Hearty and rustic. I've never been so disappointed with a fish fry. The fish itself was so-so. The batter was mushy except for the ends, which were hard as rocks. The fries were small and limp like they'd been microwaved. The way too sweet coleslaw was swimming in liquid and had little squares of maybe pineapple? I really have no idea. We searched Yelp for restaurants in the Rock Hill area and decided on Flipside. Great choice! We visited on a Tuesday evening so they weren't busy at all. Our server was friendly and attentive. Food was outstanding! We had the coffee barbeque ribs (fell right off the bone) and the fried chicken. The only think I will say about the chicken is I wish it had more gravy. (I could have asked but didn't-I was enjoying everything else lol). Try the peach sangria too if you want a refreshing summer drink. Definitely make this a stop if you're in the area. read more

My mom and I come here every time I'm in Rock Hill for brunch. We sit at the bar, order breakfast and bloody marys and enjoy the food. This place is such a cute vibe. Every time we eat here, the service is also really good. Food is delicious as are the drinks. I have tried several different items on the brunch menu and all of them have been great. The fort mill location only giving a 3 star. Never consistent and never great. The downtown rock hill location I'm giving a solid four stars. The bread with mozzarella and avocado spread with pepperoni dipping sauce- OMG to die for! Their breakfast in RH is also great. Prices have gone up and portions have gotten smaller like everywhere but still a solid meal. Service is usually warm and welcoming. On our last trip we did have to return an app after finding a long hair in it. Definitely gross, but in almost ten years of dinging here we've never had that problem before. read more

This was our second visit to this restaurant and our first was many years ago. Making a reservation over the phone was very easy, and changing it a day later was no problem. We were a party of 9, and Summer, our server was excellent. She was friendly and cheerful and did a fantastic job of taking care of us. I got the baby back ribs and Mac and cheese and it was piping hot when I got it. Everyone else was happy with their meals and we had no issues at all. My burger was juicy- I just didn't taste any seasoning on the meat- but I did not get the pimento cheese on it- so maybe that a small difference. The bacon and onion jam I thought would have a good balance of sweet and salty- but it was more on the salty side and a bit dry. The messy fried chicken sandwich- my hubby said it was really good with the maple mayo- balanced the heat nicely. The pancakes were huge- they were good. Both my girls ordered off menu; avocado toast with a fried egg, one added bacon and the other added fried potatoes. My wife BLT and I decided to try the Southern Chicken monte Cristo I'm curious how they charge for my daughter's meals considering they have a steak and salmon avocado toast. Waiting for our meals...... The meals were good, but my hunch was right. The price was not. They charged for the steak avocado toast because as a told in a Condescending tone, "There is no button for plain avocado toast". Okay! sure! The main ingredient is not there and it makes perfect sense to charge for the price for the menu item because there is an "easy button" to push on the register. That was a BS answer from a manager that needs to learn something about empathy. This is not my first visit, but may be my last to this location. I have been here numerous times over the years for both work and pleasure and this location has disappointed my previous 2 visits. I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses, but this location has not lived up to expectations recently. Hubby and I decided to support a local restaurant that was less than 2 miles from our house. Never thought about this place until I searched for a good old fashioned cheeseburger. No pork, no fries, no onions rings, nor any eggs added to it. Just cheese, lettuce, onions, pickles and tomatoes! Some ask, "Where's The Beef?". Well Flipslide has it. This burger did not disappoint. Real beef and cooked to perfection. Not overcooked or undercooked. Of course they had their "signature" burger on the menu, but you could customize it anyway you liked with no problems! If I could give this place a 10 star rating I would. If you have not ate there and you live in town you have got to go. As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by a young lady at the counter very professional we said we were going up to the bar so she brought us menus. Piper waited on us. Shes excellent. My husband had the salmon served on a bed of puree & asparagus Then as we were saying there she walked out with a huge tray of homemade biscuits to which they gave us three in a cone with strawberry butter. My wife ordered the pork chop first time ever and I had the blackened salmon pasta. Her pork chop was over done as well as my salmon. I'm not sure who is running the kitchen but I am finding lately no one seems to know how to cook a pork chop or salmon. We waited a LONG time for the food because apparently there were not enough pork chops cut for the night. The manager came by later and was overt nice and wants us to try again which we will but the owners who own about 3 restaurants in the area really need to hire better cooks or chefs or to watch over the quality control of their dishes more often. My grandson/law biscuits/gravy were not warm, Granddaughters grits with cheese were cold. My husbands bacon was burn not crisp but burnt and his eggs were not over med but well done. Only good thing about this meal today was the waitress/server that was so sweet. I did tip her 25 percent but we will not be going back here at all. They need to visit their kitchen and see what problem is with cook for so many things for 5 people to be wrong. The gentleman who took care of was Eric. Excellent service, excellent conversation and all around just plain made you feel better by chatting. I am very particular about my Rueben's but I have to say it was one of the best I've ever had. My step son had the fried chicken and my wife had the scallops.
