Pier 51 is an older seafood restaurant at the south end of Lake Wylie in Roch Hill. It's a rustic restaurant with real down home service and a traditional salad bar. The servers are really sweet and it sort of feels like being in a time capsule. The menu is all seafood with the few land based offerings. You won't find anything fancy here. The seafood is either fried or broiled. they season things well. However, the portions are crazy. They pile it on! I tried the fried seafood platter. I received flounder, clams, shrimp, oyster, and deviled crab. Are you kidding me?! It's a huge meal for $23. You can't beat the value. I admit I'd like the food to be a little more seasoned. However, I can say the devil crab is really good. I tried a similar meal the second time I went, but this time I had it broiled. I only had the flounder and shrimp this time. Again, a huge portion came out the shrimp were well seasoned, but you really need the cocktail sauce to put it over the top. I wasn't as big a fan of the flounder this time. The salad bar is good. It's very traditional and you won't find anything really unique here, but it is fun to have a salad bar. I sort of missed them when they disappeared. Having grown up on City Iskabd in the Bronx and moving to the fort Mill area, I was shocked by the lack of fresh seafood in the area. Are we THAT land locked? They have planes now that can deliver super fresh seafood. Just sayin. City island was famous fir their seafood restaurants and fried fish shacks. I had a craving for some fried shrimp. I found Pier 51 and saw that the had something I hadn't seen since I moved here......Sea Scallops. I ordered a combo of fried jumbo shrimp and fried sea scallops. All I can say is YUM! Reminded me of home. Perfectly fried scallops are hard to find. This restaurant just gets it and the scallops were sheer perfection. The tarter sauce was fresh and tasty and the baked potato (which I ordered fully loaded but just got a plain one) hit the spot. I think the portions are huge for the price and I have been back two more times since my first visit. They don't have a bar where you can have a cocktail whilst waiting for your food but who cares because you call ahead and pick up at the drive thru. Highly recommend. read more

My family goes to eat at Pier 51 at least 2 times a per month. The food is excellent and very plentiful. My husband loves their salt and pepper perch and I like all seafood. Recently I had fried clam strips, jumbo shrimp and flounder. Everything was very good and prepared perfectly. You get a trip to the salad bar while waiting for your food. (3/1/25) After shopping at Ollie's this afternoon, my wife decided that she wanted fish. So we drove to Pier 51. It was very crowded but there was still plenty of seating available. My wife ordered a large plate of whitefish. I ordered the clam strips. Neither of us had the salad bar but we did consume all of the hushpuppies. My wife took most of her fish home. The clam strips were very sandy. I can only think that they were not cleaned very well. My teeth did not enjoy my meal. Ambiance? Well it was a large room filled with hungry people eating. We love this place! The servers have been there for as long as I've been alive and know the menu inside and out. I personally stay away from all buffets so the salad bar is off limits mainly brocade people are disgusting and don't wear the gloves. The food is amazing and very reasonable read more

We've gone by this place dozens of times while visiting in Rock Hill, and finally decided to try them for dinner on our last trip. It was good, but I think it could be better next time we go, now that we know what to pick. I had the seafood platter, broiled, and my wife had the broiled flounder fillet. They give you a basket of hush puppies for a starter, which were very good, and your entree comes with a salad bar (don't see many of those anymore), which was also pretty good. My seafood platter covered the bases. The oysters were down right bad (I could only eat one), the scallops were okay, the flounder and shrimp were good, and the deviled crab was great. My wife's flounder was also pretty good. On my next visit I would go for the Everyday Special, which was just the flounder, shrimp and deviled crab. Although if they had it, I would go for just a meal of deviled crab. All in all, you're a long way from the ocean, but this place is pretty good. read more

If you want seafood and a lot of it this is the place to go. The food is always good and the service is great and quick. I have never been able to eat everything on my plate. Tonight I ordered the oysters and shrimp combo and my mother ordered the senior plate of shrimp and I believe she had almost as much food as I did. Service was not great, saw our server maybe twice, couldn't even be bothered to bring our food to the table. My dad got the cod, flounder, and shrimp, apparently the fish lacked seasoning and was just mediocre. My wife got a NY strip that was at least half fat. Lastly, I got the scallops and shrimp. I bit into one of the scallops and immediately tasted ammonia, so I'm sitting here waiting to get sick. I paid an extra $5 for that particular privilege. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, even the seafood place in York that had a roach run across our table would be better. I'm just going to Ft. The food was excellent. But, I wasn't expecting bacon in clam chowder. It gave it a different taste. But, being from New England it wasn't what I expected. More clams would be nice also. It's been a while since the family and I have ventured out to dinner at Pier 51. Not much has changed since our last visit. Excellent service and quality fish camp seafood. Appetizer: Excellent hush puppies. I only ate 2 since I'm a keto nut now and have lost 52 pounds since the middle of June. The salad bar is one of my favorite reasons for eating here. All DHEC and CDC guidelines were followed. You had to use gloves and wear your masks when fixing your salad. The salad bar is your basic lettuce, slaw, tomatoes, cukes, onions, beets, cheese, etc. I just love fixing my own salad. Dinner: Daughter had the Alaskan crab legs that were okay. However she ate them all as well as her beer battered onion rings. The boy had salt and pepper catfish filets and o rings. He loved them as always. Wife had the broiled scallops and I had the jumbo shrimp and scallops. Our broiled scallops and shrimp were perfect! I mean perfect! Lightly Cajun/ blackening season with butter. This was absolutely delicious! Service: Perfect!!! Water for wife and I as well as the kids sweet tea glasses were never empty. The restaurant was clean and all servers were wearing masks. Dessert: Gosh I would have loved to have grabbed a couple pieces of cheesecake, however I'm quite proud of my 50 pounds weight loss so I skipped this. I grew up in the Gaston count area. Of course there is the Normal Fishcamps. Fish taste like chicken and well you know!.. Pier 51 is a Real Deal SeaFood Restaurant! Let me start with y wife loved her food. I had the catfish filets and was not happy. The filets were from fingerlings with very little meat. I expected nice filets from 1 to 1 1/2 pound fish. Other than that it was a pleasant experience. My brother-in-law had the fried cod and loved it. We will try it again. Most of the fish camps that I'm familiar with are over in Gastonia & Belmont area, south toward the river. Since I moved to Fort Mill last year, I just discovered this place. I was pleased to see they had many broiled seafood options. I ordered the mahi mahi to go. It comes with cole slaw and hush puppies. The fish portion was small and just OK flavor, just no seasoned very well. Very disappointed in the hush puppies. read more

Absolutely top notch!!!...Ordered the Every Day combo Platter ( Fish, Shrimp, and deviled crab) for pickup. Was ready in 15 mins. I was blow away when I opened the box. It was literally stuffed full. I made two meals from it but could easily make three (Big eater). Also came with a side ( I got onion rings), a dozen puppies and coleslaw for $15 including tax. Ok, we came here to try the food, since we were in the area & based on other Yelpers reviews. The food was good, but the Broiled Flounder could have used a little bit more seasoning....the grilled shrimp was great the mixed grilled veggies were excellent & seasoned throughly... the blackened fried catfish with fries, our son said It was delicious... full of flavor.., Hubby had the same Broiled Flounder as well.. Pier 51 from what we're been told that it's always crowded on the weekends... had to find a parking space, it's just that crowded... the salad bar has everything you would find on any other salad bar, but this one had( pickled cabbage)!!! It was very good, our first time having it on a salad besides sour kraut! They do take reservations... but since our party was small they seated us right away...it being that busy! Pier 51 is a great seafood establishment. The waitstaff are completely on top of their game and some of the most attentive and efficient that you will encounter anywhere. Their fried, broiled and boiled seafood is great! Their steaks and other beef and chicken entrees are also delicious! They also have a great salad bar, which is one of the neatest and cleanest that you will see anywhere. The salad bar is always stocked and fresh, which is also quite yummy! The restaurant is very clean and orderly, with a very nice open, spacious, seating floor plan to accommodate even the largest of groups comfortably. The food is always fresh, great tasting and Pier 51 is always consistent in their delivery in my opinion, which always keeps me and my family coming back again and again, and you will too! read more
