I was excited to try this spot, but now I'm convinced they just recruit people to recommend this place on local social media groups, because the drinks were beyond bland. My husband and I both ordered different flavored lattes, and we immediately looked at each other in confusion when we tried them... because there was zero flavor in either of them. Coffee flavor itself was mild and burnt. The workers were kind enough, but seemed a bit confused and distracted. We ordered 2 macaroons for our kiddos and only received one, had to go back to ask for the second one we paid for. This cafe is inside a lovely cozy and homey church. There's a fireplace, comfortable armchairs, and even a small nook for little kids to play while their parents sip on some good coffee. Their coffee was really good. I love how they had a 20 ounce size iced latte, and you know I went for it!! Even as the iced melted, the quality of the coffee stayed intact. The pastries looked really really stinkin good. Unfortunately I was too full from lunch to grab one, but next time I'm in town you bet I'm getting one! The baristas were so sweet and friendly! The location was a bit confusing, but yes they are located in a church! It was so clean and airy and I truly loved that they had a little kid's corner!! I think all cafes should offer this cause I mean who frequents cafes more than moms with their toddlers who cannot survive the day without caffeine, am I right? The coffee was great too!! We are such big fans of Defined coffee. No matter the location, it is always a great experience with the staff, ambiance, coffee, and baked goods. We swung by Sunday afternoon and got to endings in their Fall menu. I got the Autumn Spice Tea which was an amazing caffeine-free drink. It's served like a London Fog but with an amazing fall flavor. My husband got the Maple Latte which was also amazing. Maple lattes are super hit or miss and usually end up tasting like a candle but this one was fabulous. The ambiance here is great to get together with friends, knock some work out, or for just a relaxing afternoon. This place is open and spacious. Upon entering, there were many people inside enjoying coffee (or whatever they drink) and working on their laptops. Several other tables were occupied by folks having a meeting. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The place is wide open. I am not much of a coffee drinker other than first thing in the morning but I decided to try an iced beverage, pumpkin. I didn't like it so more syrup was offered (two pumps). It was now drinkable but not something I want to get used to. There were approx. seven huge cupcakes remaining when we stopped in (after lunch). No worries here because I wasn't hungry. All in all, a nice open place to stop in for a hot or cold drink from a coffee bar, located on the premises of Lake Forest Church but as I read in the local newspaper, an entity separate from the church. This is a very chill coffee shop where you can lounge around to get some work done. There's a spacious outdoor seating area with lots of tables. In addition, it is also spacious inside, with lots of seats and couches to choose from. I tried their Honey Cold brew and it did the job of waking me up. I think this is a great spot for coffee and working or a meeting. They have plenty of space for lots of people to spread out on couches, tables or even around a fireplace. The outdoor area is pretty large and has varied seating options. A great spot when there is great weather! Their coffee is pretty great and I love all of the creative flavor options that they provide. The bakery items look amazing. I had a cinnamon roll and I refuse to look at the case anymore because I want all the items, every time. The tea selection is quite vast. There is something for everyone and you'll be glad you found this place. They have two rooms that can be closed off for meetings and seminars. The baristas here are cool people. Good beards, super nice, and gifted. I got something with an orange flavor with maybe vanilla and oat milk (alternative milk options are spot on!). The steamed milk was spot on - super creamy. I was very impressed because it's hard to get the foam right with alternate milks but the barista banged out a really quick latte art. When I asked for any tips, they were so nice and actually jotted down the name of a YouTuber who they learned from. So much potential, just ruined by the barista and the coffee. Convenient parking and a large clean space were a good start. I commented on the good-looking pastries with no response, then asked if the barista had tried a certain tea on the menu- a curt "no" was her only reply. I decided to try the tea and also a latte. As she wrote the order on the cups, I realized the tea was actually also a latte (that was not written on the board), so I said I'll just take the other latte, much to her annoyance. The latte I did get was MORE THAN $8. She gossiped with a couple girls at the bar while she made my drink that tasted like burnt milk.
