Calling all folks gluten free!!!! The entire store is gluten free!! What!!! I have never had the privilege to visit a store like this. Everything... pasta, oils, desserts, body care, wine , beer. I go here once a year for my birthday. And periodically for olive oil. They moved this year and the new space is beautiful! I may have to come back to check out the coffee bar and get a few more treats since it is closer now. They have a huge selection of olive oils that are very high quality. The real stars, in my opinion, are the desserts though. Everything is gluten free and made fresh in a dedicated gluten free facility. They have dairy free, egg free, paleo and keto options too. They actually taste like the real thing too- I've tested multiple gluten eaters on their treats and they all love it. We ordered the brookie, peanut butter crack bar, triple chocolate cupcake and a carrot cake cupcake (not pictured). The carrot cake tasted more like pumpkin but it was still so good that we ate it before I remember to take a photo for a review. read more

It was my wife's birthday. She is gluten intolerant. It's very difficult to find gluten-free cakes, donuts and cupcakes anywhere in the area. This place has it all and you don't have to order it two or three weeks in advance. Great service, great prices and great taste! read more

This was the ONLY place I could get dessert when I was on Keto. The keto cupcakes are realllyyy good, considering , but the non keto are delicious too. Reluctantly I dub this place with five stars, although it is certainly not the greatest i have ever experienced; but it does meet the Yelp! definition of being as good as it gets. And so it is, as an olive oil and products with accoutrements for olive stuff, I guess that there just isn't much more that the COULD do to be better. It is clean. The staff knows what they are doing. Samples galore, as it pertains to the various olive oils and vinegars (both from olives). They also have coffees, teas, a wine bar and I think beer, along with some simple pastry/bakery snacks. Yes, drop in for a mouth tour of the olive products and then sit down and enjoy a coffee and goodie. On our first venture here we bought a sampler pack of I think it was 3 or 4 oils and 3 vinegars. Something like that. We tried them all at home. The flavors are great: orange, blackberry, lemon, etc. And what a difference they make on simple salads. Surprising. The vinegars were a little tricky and we learned that you use one or the other: either flavored oil or vinegar. The flavors can compete unpleasantly, sometimes, with each other. What brought us in the first time was when we saw a sampler at the annual Lancaster Animal Shelter Supporters fashion show, banquet and auction. THAT put us on to The Southern Olive, getting us in the door v. just walking by it as we went into Publix. Worth your perusal. read more

Today we stopped in to this lovely gem. A bakery dedicated to gluten free items. Oh what a treat! It's difficult to find fresh baked gluten free items anywhere in Charlotte. If you do, the items are thrown in the same cases as regular baked goods. Two words for you... cross contamination When we walked in and said do you have any gluten free items. They replied "it's all gluten free". Situated near fort mill in Indian land. It's a 25 minute drive and totally worth it. The employees were lovely and accommodating. My wife was so impressed with the quality of the items we bought . We will most certainly be back. Thanks you for taking care of the Celiacs. read more

Cute shop with a bunch of gluten free choices. Just watch out for the bagged dry pasta if you have celiac's disease.....the bags show they're processed in a facility that also processes wheat. BIG cross contamination issue. Companies shouldn't be able to say they're gluten free but then clearly are not. read more

UNFAIR & RIDICULOUS of the previous Yelper Cindy to award ANY business 2 stars based off of her PROCRASTINATING nature!!!! Cindy, perhaps during prior educational years (economics) you were napping? Might want to apply to your local CC & take economics for dummies. Clearly, even you would comprehend overhead cost associated with staffing and foot traffic obviously the proprietor is OPEN during hours that warrant staffing. As a business owner myself I get perturbed with folks raking businesses over the coals (2 stars) for ridiculous reasons. #humbleyourselves NOW to tell you the GREAT news!!! The vegan brownie in this place really surprised my husband & I, it was too die for, SOOO yummy!!! It had absolutely NO after taste whatsoever all the while the cocoa flavor was at the forefront. The texture was spot on as it was very chewy. The house blend coffee was really good as it was completely void of ANY bitterness all the contrary it had a great smooth finish. The staff was very accommodating and flexible as they ensured my smoothie did not contain ANY fruits that I am highly allergic too. They read labels and were SUPER attentive and VERY flexible. My strawberry smoothie was very nice, thx ladies. SALADS are NOW being SOLD ...it's a cleaver idea to offer patrons the olive oil & balsamic of their choice for their salads. Can't wait to try! This a fantastic bakery for all variety of dietary restrictions. My mom is gluten sensitive and I greatly appreciate that everything in the bakery is gluten free. Every treat I've tried has been great, their chocolate cake in particular is delicious. This is our go-to for any special occasion treats for my mom. It's a bit of a drive for us so we don't go frequently but it's worth it when we make it down there. read more

KETO-FRIENDLY BAKERY!! After reading the reviews, I drove out there from Mint Hill. They had a good selection of keto friendly desserts. The lady at the counter was very nice, willing to answer questions, and make suggestions. We got the cheesecake, chocolate chip cookies, brownie, and chocolate iced Cupcake. Completely blown away by this place. I moved to Charlotte last year after a lifetime in the Northeast, where people are slightly more health-conscious and accepting of "weird" diets like my annoying gluten-free one. Upon arriving in North Carolina, I realized that avoiding gluten was going to be a little trickier than it was in Boston, and for the most part, that has definitely held up over the past year...until The Southern Olive entered the scene! I've had the chance to try 2 different cakes from Olive at work events, and they reminded me of my pre-GF days. They are 2 of the best cakes I've ever eaten. The first was a chocolate ganache cake with a stripe of raspberry jam through the middle. The second was a "chocolate-churro" cake that was rich and chocolatey, with a hint of cinnamon and a delicious creamy frosting. I knew that the cakes were gluten-free, obviously, but until doing some research on the Olive's website today, I had no idea that they also don't use any artificial coloring! That is UNHEARD OF in any bakery, and so amazing and important! I don't know what these cakes cost since I have yet to personally buy one, but trust me - they are probably worth double whatever Olive is charging for them. This is the first bakery I've ever heard of to take their work to such an extreme health-conscious and high-quality level, and still create a ridiculously delicious product. I am amazed by Southern Olive! read more

Nobody got upset, everyone loved their meals and special shout out to Hailey our host and she had no problem keeping track of 15 different tickets and was all over the service and brought the food out hot which made this a special men's group lunch.
