Just ok. The French bread was a little stale. The people were really nice I just think it was a two day baguette .

When I saw this lovely little bakery I was so happy excited. I just moved down from NYC and completely missing my Whole Foids Sourdough. I went in and got a cheddar sourdough. I asked them to slice it and they told me they don't do that in the breads that have stuff in them. That made me think this must be filled with cheddar cheese. The only reason they don't slice these types of breads is because they don't want to have to clean the slicing machine afterwards. They will tell you it's because the bread falls apart. This is an outright lie. Every other bread bakery slices all their breads. It's lazy in my opinion. Then I get home only to discover there is virtually no cheddar cheese in the bread. I paid $8 for a bread that I have to slice myself that had next to no cheese in it. Never again. I'd rather drive to Charlotte to the nearest Whole Foods and pay half the price and have it sliced and be exactly as described. Majorly disappointed!!!! read more

I've been buying bread from Breadsmith since they opened. We love their sourdough and our fav dessert bread is the blueberry pie bread (we make French toast with it - insane!) Scones are also excellent, and we've enjoyed lemon poppyseed and pumpkin breads, seasonally. Their pizza dough is amazing. I wanted to provide an update to my last review. We still do not come here for the bread loafs as they are just more than what we need as a couple. However, we have been coming on Saturday mornings to get sweet goodies - our favorites being the orange chocolate chip muffin and the cinnamon claw. This last time we tried the almond chocolate twist - not sure if that is the name, but it was just okay to me, will stick with our favorites. The cinnamon claw is fantastic warmed up just a bit - would like it a little gooey-er, but we still love it. Love the orange chocolate chip muffin, have also had it as a loaf, but really we can't eat all of that either, so we just end up with the muffin. It is only slightly orange, sometimes you can't even tell that it is orange, but when the orange hits you, it is great! Not sure how often they have these items or how often they change up their items as we have just lucked out in getting them each time we have gone, but we are a fan of their small sweet breads/muffins - especially the two mentioned above! read more

I went on a Thursday got a Blueberry pie bread and sliced raisin cinnamon bread. I will start with the blueberry pie bread, it was different but worth trying it. The bread was moist and full of yummy blueberries, it was a bit bland for my taste but not bad. My son got the pumpkin chocolate muffin, he said it had a great flavor and lots of yummy chocolate chips. Unfortunately, the raisin cinnamon bread, which was the main reason I made a trip to Breadsmith was bland, dried and hard. I was truly sad that it was waist of money. I did appreciate that I called ahead to reserve the breads and ask for the raisin cinnamon bread to be sliced. It was ready for me to pay and head with my daily activities. Probably go back and try one of their pie breads, but that's it. read more

We stopped in to purchase a few things to take while traveling. The Cobblestone cake was an excellent choice for breakfast. We also purchased the Lemon Poppyseed loaf and that was flavorful and moist. The Ciabatta bread was great addition to our dinner when spread with a baked Brie. Decided to give Breadsmith another try today after the last disappointing visit. Gosh, I'm just so sad to see the decline. I was there at 9am and the white tile lobby floor was so dirty. No way it had been mopped anytime recently. The refrigerated case with the pizza dough has a thick layer of dust on top of it. The lobby is cluttered and unorganized. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why they moved the cashier to the window so that now when you walk in you see row of ugly metal kitchen shelving. The whole setting is just very off putting and does not give you confidence in what the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen must be like. Do better Breadsmith! OMG this place should be called Bread Paradise!!! I'm totally hooked!!! Stopped in today just to see what they offered and was amazed. They have some very unique items not just the normal everyday bakery. Everything is made in house and they don't have the normal preservatives so you have to be careful with storage. When you enter you are welcomed with delicious samples and the staff keeps offering you more to try as you look around. Everything I sampled was tasty. We left with 3 items the pumpkin loaf, the blueberry pie loaf and the country buttertop. The staff is so helpful and sweet. They answered all my questions and were very accommodating with my request. They offer different items on different days so stop in for the daily menu. I was also advised to place an order a day or two in advance for the holiday season. read more

Customer service is quite bad. I had to call about 10 times before anyone picked up the phone. I asked to speak to someone regarding gift cards since the girl on the phone could not answer my question. The other teen would not come to the phone and would just convey messages to the poor girl who now became the messenger. It was very frustrating. After several failed attempts to get my questions answered, he finally came to the phone. Apparently they are changing gift card vendors during the busiest gift card time of the year and did not know when they will be back in stock. Both of the individuals that I spoke to sounded very young, like 16 years old. Overall, very poor customer service. read more

This place is very unique, even to bakeries. If you don't like bread, for some odd reason, they'll change your mind. I eat mine plain. I eat it with butter. Or any way you would normally eat bread. It never goes to waste, which is saying something because they do not use preservatives. Do you hear me? If you can't eat for another odd reason, freeze it! You can use it in stuffing later! I tend to keep mine in the fridge and eat as needed. They also have great sweets, but I personally prefer breadyness. Also, grab a punch card! They also keep a calendar of their specials if you so choose to get obsessive over things of this nature... Enjoy! read more

How can you not love fresh baked bread? The country butter top is my favorite for toast and sandwiches. Their little salted ciabatta rolls are yummy ripped apart with some dry aged sausage on it. Farmer's wheat, french, pepperoni rolls, blueberry crumb cake, you name it they have it. Their sweets are not overly sweet. So if you really want a sickly sweet cinnamon bun, stick to the crappy cinnabon. Theirs are a bit more European style. Their bread menu rotates daily but some of the loaves are staples every day. One of the most interesting things i have found is the fact that they do gluten free breads a few times a month for those poor people who are gluten intolerant. Their gluten free products are tested before they go out. (Check out their website it has what levels they test to. All I remember is them being very stringent) They also carry spreads and dipping oils as well as pizza dough. One of my favorite things there is the vintagey coke in the little glass bottle. A must have for me while I am picking out which of their tasty loaves and rolls to try out. They are a small chain, but you would never really know it from the quality of their products. read more

I love fresh baked bread. I love it so much, I'll drive quite a distance to ensure I get the best. Breadsmith is definitely at the top of my favorite bakeries in the Charlotte area. It was later in the day on a Tuesday when we decided to head on over to Breadsmith. In fact, we had to deal with the traffic all the way there and then back. But, I wanted fresh bread and Harris Teeter just wasn't going to do it for me. We got there just after 5PM and at this time of the day the pickings were slim. They were so slim that that when we pulled up and looked in the window I thought the place might have closed down. Then I saw some movement inside so we headed in. I was right, the locals and nearly picked the place clean. They had their biscotti, jams, cookies, and some dinner rolls out on display, but most of the fresh items that remained were behind the counter still on the baking racks. Unfortunately they didn't have the beer cheese bread I was craving: Bummer, but I was not going to leave empty handed. A round sourdough ciabatta and some brownies caught my eye. Sold! I also picked up some fresh dinner rolls. Yum! I'm lucky their selection was limited because I'm not sure how much I might have left with had they had all I wanted. I still want to try their jalapeno and cheese breads. I would also like to get some of the fresh pizza dough: I might get addicted to that. This place is great. I have eaten a sandwich everyday since buying the ciabatta and the dinner rolls have been used for dinner and mini snacks throughout the day. The brownie was gone before I got home. 5 for quality, 5 for location, 4 for service, and 3 for just not having more. I get it...they don't want to have a lot to toss at the end of the evening, but Man! I want to try more. I'll give them a solid 4-Stars for now and once I try the remainder I'll reconsider. Great place! VERY FRIENDLY employees. Reasonable prices. The Breadsmith always have freshly made bread every morning. I also saw their bread in stores around Green Bay, which is very mobile if you're living on the east side of Green Bay. I've tried almost all types of bread that they sell. My favorite breads are Rustic Italian, French Peasant, and Honey Wheat. My mission is to get their specialty Apple Pie Bread! Also, they sell dog bones for your doggos, which when I get one for my pup, he goes crazy of excitement. My cat took a bite off of it and I guess he was neutral. read more

We were greeted by Terry who absolutely made our first experience at Breadsmith a memorable one. She told us how the business started and what they had to offer. We actually only came in looking for a good sandwich bread for our BLT lunch and she let us sample several types of bread till we narrowed it down to the perfect one. She then offered to cut our loaf into slices and gave us great tips for making the bread last longer. We're definitely going back for a some pumpkin bread. read more

If your in the Fort Mill area you gotta stop in and show the Breadsmith some love. It's a local husband and wife operation that makes fresh baked goods daily, there guys are the real deal. You simply can't go wrong here. My parents were in town recently so I stopped in to get some honey butter, rolls, and some orange cranberry scones for the next days breakfast. The rolls with the honey butter are unique and delicious as you serve em along side a nice steak dinner. Now the scones, let me tell you my old man is retired chef and he's got particular tastes. A cup of coffee and one of those scones, he was impressed. Fresh, delicious, and the right texture a scone should be. He even made me drive him to the shop so he could see the place himself the next morning. I definitely suggest stopping in here and grabbing a snack or two. read more

Do yourself a favor - buy your bread from here! We buy bread every Friday morning as we love the Russian Rye (get the one with raisins!)... it's amazing. No preservatives in the bread... the way bread should be made. The bread here is more expensive than what you may get at the grocery store - you get what you pay for. The ownership are a hard working couple who work incredibly long hours to deliver an excellent product. This is a great local bread store that I have been coming to since it opened. It's a Breadsmith so you know you will get good quality bread everyday made with unbleached flours and no preservatives so that's great, but you also have an owner who is always in, which means to me this place is loved.
