My wife and I stopped here Friday night before dinner at a nearby restaurant. Friday and Saturday nights get very crowded but we were fortunate to grab 2 seats at the bar which is rather small. They specialize in MANY types of wine, craft beers and sangria. I'm had the Gailic Ale and an Oktoberfest, my wife had the red sangria. The atmosphere is that of a boutique book shop/winery. Such a cute little place with great service and great wine and food. They also have cute dog-friendly patio seating, but since it's colder now, I prefer sitting inside (and it's actually quieter inside if you're working or reading). They also have free wifi, so feel free to bring your laptop and get some work done while enjoying a glass of wine. I got two glasses of the Illi Prosecco, which was just lovely. Very bubbly with a yummy taste. I also ordered the french bread which we dipped in olive oil and balsamic - you have to dunk the bread to get the balsamic to soak in, but it's really yummy. My wife and I stopped in after a busy morning of chores. We truly enjoyed the service and friendly personality of the young man who took care of us. They had quite a good selection of wine. My wife and I both settled on a wine flight and we also went for their high end charcuterie and cheese plate. The wine flight was exceptional good; however, the charcuterie and cheese plate was rather pedestrian. We did pick up five bottles of wine to take home. This is our favorite wine bar in the Ft Mill area. Great selection of wines. You can pick your own bottle out of the retail side or ask a bartender to recommend one. The have a great selection of local craft beers and international beers as well. They also have a food menu with really good meat and cheese boards. We walked in, and the blonde bar lady and other people behind the bar looked at us and didn't even greet us. We ended up sitting down and the blonde lady wasn't too thrilled with helping us. Not sure what it was, bit it didn't give us a very good impression. We were barely done saying what wine we wanted and my friend wanted the bread plate with dips, but she was already walking away. Shared this experience with my two friends after a run in the beautiful and quaint town of Fort Mill. I had the house cab, and they had beers. It was a cute wine shop/bar set up with comfy chairs off to the side spread out for all to enjoy each other's company comfortably. I enjoyed their idea of "Beer poker" where for only $3 what ever number you got, corresponded to the beer number on the chalk board. However, you as the customer didn't actually get to roll the dice which should have been mentioned. Overall, cute set up, not very big but enough to all be able to hang out and drink. I love the idea of drinking a beer on tap, while I am shopping for beer. The owner, Dave, is a terrific guy and seems to know his stuff when it comes to beer. Unique! Wish I had one close to me. A little hard to find...the signage in this complex is a bit confusing. I was looking for a large wine warehouse like Total Wine but this is a niche place. Unique beer brands and wines. They do have great prices, too. What is nice is the varied beer tap selection and wine list for tasting. Found a new Cava and an old favorite high gravity beer. Worth the drive and super close to 77. Did not try the food but it did smell and look good. I decided to take my mom to the Grapevine Wine Bar in Baxter Village. It's one of my favorite places to go and sometimes I'll go sit and have a glass of wine by myself. It's so cozy and the people who work there love to talk. It's never too busy or crowded, so I bring my school books and read. I had a Pinot Grigio and my mom had a white Zinfandel. I told the bartender what I liked and he brought out a glass that matched my preference to a tee! I love Pinot Grigio because it's not too sweet and not too dry. Its juuuuuust right! Our bartender made us up a "surprise" tray and everything was delicious. We had crackers, candied pecans, sharp cheddar cheese, brie, honey, dried cranberries, prosciutto, salami, sweet pickles, and sweet roasted red peppers. All of those snacks bring out the flavor in wine. They also have the best bread on the planet. I've never had a bread that compares. It comes out warm, cooked with herbs, and lightly sea salted. The atmosphere is also really fun in there with so much to look at. I love how crafty and earthy it is. I love their idea of making a backsplash out of wine corks. It's a great place to meet friends, relax, or for dates! They even have outdoor seating with personal fire places! I love it. read more

Good Ole South Carolina Awesomeness.. While working in Fort Mill, SC at a client site I became a tourist and fan of the Baxter Village restaurants and shops. I stumbled across this wine bar after dinner at The Fish Market which is across the street, while walking to my car. This place immediately became my new wine hang out (Wine is Wisdom ;-) The manager Dave was VERY welcoming and immediately welcomed me to the bar and had me trying all types of wines before I decided on the wine I wanted to indulge it. After talking about what I do, where I'm from among other things I ended up with the Red Flight as I was trying to get into Reds at the time and after my flight I must say The Red Flight is a MUST!! I LOVE this place, it's like CHEERS everyone is so down to earth and friendly there this includes the staff and the patrons. I never had anything to eat there as I am ALWAYS ready for some wine but I have brought gifts for my wine loving friends as they also sell Cute trinkets. I brought my girlfriend a shirt for her Birthday that said Water has Bacteria Wine is Healthy and something else I can't remember but it was Funny and cute. I also brought a cute Wine book for pairing that I presented to her as well Overall a great place in Baxter Village that I plan to take my friends to this summer around my birthday. This place reminds me of a TV sitcom Cheers where everyone seems to know each other. Friendly patrons and extremely busy and lively. Their bartenders Jen and Harrison were friendly and efficient and for a Thursday night, it was bustling and hard to find a seat although we happen to get there when a few people were just leaving the bar area. Great selections of wine and reasonably priced. People knew we were from out of town and they went out of their way to be friendly and talk about their great community. Solid 3.5. I love being able to sip a nice beer while enjoying nature. So instead of bringing a few beers on a hike, I find it much more pleasurable and probably safer to find a place that has nice outdoor seating where a bathroom is handy and so is another craft beer. We have been to this place on several occasions. I love the outdoor seating area and the fire pits they have for those chilly evenings too. With my thin Hawaii blood, it's a must. When we initially walked in, we were not expecting it to be as small as it was. With that being said, they have used the space quite well, creating small gathering areas for a semi-intimate date night or small group of friends. Being in the Carolinas, after living in beer hell (Hawaii) where Bud Light, PBR and Heineken gush from every bar, I am in beer heaven and have come to expect basic info about the beers on tap. Such as, ABV, IBU, pint and growler options. So we noticed during the last few times, this info, which was readily available for all beers on tap, has become a rarity and, frankly, a disappointment now having to look up the beers on beeradvocate.com. I am giving this place 3.5 stars. I would have given it a 4 but the lack of attention to providing customers basic beer info and bartenders unable to answer questions of ABVs drops them a half star. Also, I cannot pinpoint it but this place is starting to lack something that it had before; however, I cannot quite place what it is. Their food is good but a little pricey, and if you are looking for a meal, I would suggest going elsewhere and saving this place for a before or after dinner drink. Great things about this place are the selection of beers on tap and for purchase. You get 10% off when you buy 6 or more bottles of beer too! Be sure to pay attention to the bottles in the beer holders as the beer holder does not always reflect what is in it. We had our date night here on Saturday night, it was a nice atmosphere. The wine was delicious. I think the music that was playing was a bit depressing, it made me want to go to sleep. In a word, AMAZING. We went on a weekend evening and were greeted by incredibly knowledgeable staff. The food was amazing, the wine was even better and my fiance said the beer was some of the best he's had. The owner was great, down to earth, making his rounds to check on people in a very personable way - the way a host would do at a cocktail party or BBQ full of friends. For a while I wasn't sure if the owner didn't actually know every one of the patrons on a personal level or not. We were there when they happened to have live music - not sure if this is a regular event or not - but what great ambiance it added! We live in California, but have resolved to go out of our way to stop by this place again the next time we happen to be in that general region. My wife and I visited on a Wednesday after work. Its a very small place inside. They have a good wine selection, as you would expect. They had a pretty good craft beer selection on tap, and a large selection to purchase in bottles. We also got a cheese and meat tray for some eats. This was very good. I think if I lived in Baxter, this would be a goto spot. Just walk over, have a glass of wine, maybe sit outside and enjoy letting time pass. Its also not a bad place if you don't live in Baxter. However, since they don't serve food (other than the cheese tray), it seems to limit the place to me. I felt fortunate that we scored a seat at the bar when we first walked up. Due to the limited available seating, I could imagine showing up here and not being able to get a seat. Never once, no matter how busy they were, has a server made me feel like I was inconveniencing them when asking questions about wine to educate myself. For a boutique wine bar, the prices are very good. Also, the selection is good, but not so big you feel lost; obviously very selective in what they stock. If you want a wine warehouse, WalMart-style, go to Total Wine. If you want a great selection of wines/beers for any price range, go to the Grapevine. I'd be remiss if I didn't mention their philanthropic activity in the community as well. They always have fun "Guest Bartender" charity events, as well as donations to local charity auctions, etc. They go far and above the normal "PR" type philanthropy. The food is forgetable...just prefabbed desserts, canned olives, etc. But COME ON, you're not here for cheese...you here for the booze! Nothing is missed by the lack of food selection...especially since you're in Baxter, with it's wide selection of restaurants within 100 feet of the place. I have been here several times, but mostly for their yearly March beer festival. This time, we stopped in to meet some friends before our dinner reservation at a nearby restaurant. Now this place is not very big, so you are never too far away from the bar to order a drink. The wine and beer selections are both extensive with a wide variety of choices. I want to say that they have around 10 to 12 taps and they do sell growlers of beer. The only drawback for this place is the distance from my home, but whenever you are in the Fort Mill area, I would highly recommend visiting this place. The service was attentive and timely.
