About a month ago, we visited the Outback in south Abilene and had a very bad experience. I rated the restaurant and gave it one star. The new manager contacted me and asked for another chance. Visiting Abilene, we decided to try it again. The new manager, Amy, has really turned it around. The restaurant was clean. The service impeccable with Amanda L. The food fresh, hot, and tasty. Flying solo, I decided to enjoy and old favorite. I have to admit it's been a while since I've been to Outback. It used to be in the normal rotation but for a while it hasn't been. So first things first, it's a steakhouse - if you're in a hurry you'll get frustrated so make sure you have adequate time to enjoy a good meal. I started with the Steakhouse Mac and cheese bites. I've had these at other restaurants and they are usually dry and flavorless but not here, the only issue here was that the cheese was so soft it just kept pouring out of it after the first bite. I followed this up with the Chicken Fried Steak with baked Potato and veggies. All were excellent. Tender, delicious and in the case of the veggies seasoned nicely. I ended it all up with a piece of carrot cake that I got to go because I had eaten enough for two but knew in an hour I'd be feeling the sweet itch for something sweet. I think the reason I stopped going was because they had few options that I enjoyed but there menu has branched out and it's worth a look if you haven't been in a while. read more

Stopped in at Outback in Abilene this afternoon for lunch. I entered and stood at hostess stand over 5 minutes before anyone even noticed me. 3 guys leaving said they don't have a hostess. I was noticed by the bartender when they said that. He took my order he was pleasant enough. When my order came I asked for a medium char grill steak it came out regular flat top grill cooked and rare. Took a little while to catch someone's attention. I had already been there 35 minutes. It took them almost 30 minutes to recook the steak and bring it out. I took 2 bites of my steak and had to leave. I never saw a manager the whole tile I was there. The manager used to bring the new steak out and apologize. Needs better management as this was the noon hour. read more

Had lunch with a friend today at Outback Steakhouse in Abilene, Texas. Outback Steakhouse provided an experience that left me thoroughly satisfied. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, creating the perfect setting for a delightful meal. Tatum was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She guided us through the various options and made excellent recommendations. As for the food, the Alice Spring Chicken was cooked to perfection, juicy and flavorful, and the Blooming onion and Cesar salad was pure perfection. The quality and taste of each dish exceeded my expectations. What impressed me the most was the attention to detail and the genuine care for the customer satisfaction. The restaurant as well as the bathroom was spotless. Tatum went above and beyond to ensure that our dining experience was exceptional. Had a horrible experience here. Had to listen to the blonde customer and her man yell across the bar to their friend for hours. Meanwhile my wife and I are peaceful and enjoying our time together. We work 6 days a week and don't get much time to relax so decided to walk from our hotel to the Outback nearby. We enjoyed two appetizers and a large meal over a 2.5 hr period. When I tried to order a final drink to accompany my meal the server turned into 'Momma' and suddenly became concerned I was over served. What? Started off with a bloomin onion, and it came out in a timely manner and tasted good. For my entree I got a sirloin-love the seasoning they use!!! I have no complaints, the server was nice and polite and knew her stuff. They do have a bit more expensive items, but you can also eat here for a reasonable price read more

Haven't been to Outback in several years so we thought we would go. I got a Cobb salad. I first thought I didn't get any egg but realized less than a teaspoon of egg was in the salad. I'm eating a Cobb salad from Walmart right now and honestly the $4.99 salad is pretty much the same except this one has a whole egg. My husband ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes. It wasn't until the steak was brought out they informed him they were out of mashed potatoes and did he want something else. Why would they have informed him earlier so they would have had time to prep another side. Our waitress never came by to see how our meal came out. I finally got her attention and she said the told her something was wrong but she didn't know what they said. They did credit our meal $5 for no potatoes. We ordered dessert and the desserts should have bee $5 vs $8.50 & 10.50. We thought we should have split it for that price but it's not the case. We have no desire to go back. read more

The food was very delish. We had a table of 3. We had the wings for the appetizer and the Mac n cheese. My mother ordered coconut shrimp, fiance had the 8 oz center cut steak w/baked potatoe, and I had the outbacker burger. Everything we had was sooo yummy. Bread was hot and nothing was cold. I recommend coming at lunch. Our total was $59.25. Everything was worth the price. The place was clean and we were sat at the table as soon as we came in. Our waitress was Shelby and she was very good and kind............i also recommend the salmon dish too (I had that another time and is was light and yummy). I will post pictures. The prices have gone through the roof while portion sizes have decreased!!! The least expensive item on the menu was a regular burger at $10.50. Totally, out of touch with their potential clientele. The staff was incredible and we had some of the best customer service. All of the food was good except our steaks were over seasoned. I usually finish off a Ribeye, but I left half due to the saltiness. The only reason I marked this 3 stars is because salty steaks at a steakhouse is disappointing. Havent been in an Outback for quite some time due to a blah last experience. This one was convenient/close to our Hotel so gave it a shot. Went in for a late lunch so didnt over-expect, but with only 3 tables having people at them I wrongly assumed we might get good service and food. Both were mediocre at best. Only came in contact with 2 employees who both seemed to want to be anywhere but at work that day. Moral of this story: Good food and professional pleasant service = repeat customers and new word of mouth business, but it needs to be a 24/7 effort. We went at lunch 02/10/2022. There were only four other tables occupied yet it took a half hour to get our food. The fried chicken was a flattened piece that was probably 3 ounces. The two orders of Alice Springs chicken were equally small. The loaded potatoes had only a small amount of sour cream, bacon and chives and no butter. Outback Steakhouse is usually my "go to" restaurant when I travel. It's usually very consistent (easily a 4-star or 5-star in most locations), fast, and affordable. That wasn't my experience here. My son and I were in town for 5 nights, and we ate at Outback 3 of those 5 nights. One was almost perfect. One was pretty bad (although the manager made it right by comping the meal). The third was hit and miss. Service was good all three nights. I always order my steaks medium rare, pan seared with extra seasoning. Such incredible flavor. For sides, I usually get a salad and steamed broccoli. The first night, we both had 6-ounce sirloins (our normal choice). They were cooked perfectly. My steak didn't have extra seasoning, but went ahead and ate it without mentioning it. The second night, we both had 10-ounce ribeyes for the first and probably last time. Both were overcooked (my medium rare and my son's medium both came out well done). I had asked for extra seasoning and it hardly had any. We sent them both back. The replacements were still a bit overcooked, but close enough. I guess it's difficult to cook such a thin steak medium or medium rare, which is why I'll never order one again. I still didn't get extra seasoning. The cook who brought it out said he put extra seasoning on it. The waitress offered to bring seasoning on the side, but I prefer it seared in. We ended up eating them as they were. The manager came over and apologized and said that our meals were on him. I would have rather they had just been right, but that was fine. The third night, we both had the 22-ounce bone-in ribeyes. I ordered mine medium rare, pan-seared with extra seasoning. They were both slightly overcooked, but close enough. Instead of the 17-spice blend, it was heavily salted and peppered. (Pan seared is supposed to have the 17-spice blend. Grilled is supposed to have salt and pepper.) It was still good, but not what I was looking forward to. The broccoli was undercooked and dry, without the spicy butter they normally use. I finished my steak before the waitress returned. I returned the broccoli to have it steamed more. They added plain butter. A bit disappointing (especially for a $30 per person meal). Too inconsistent for me. read more

Outback's blooming onions are OFF the chart!!! Their steaks are sooo good they melt in your mouth. I like mine medium-rare to rare and they ALWAYS delivered a perfectly cooked meat. At times, the wait is a bit too long, but great management makes for a smooth wait, bringing out complimentary finger food to keep people's patience alive and not kicking. I love the decor, i especially am fond of all the spices on the walls. If i had to find a fault it would have to be the soft light (bit too soft for my taste... i wanna see what i am eating and whom I'm eating it with) as well as the AC being too strong (penguins would appreciate their freezing temps during the summer weather. ... and it's super hot during the winter times). The manager Tricia did a huge favor for me and I'm writing this review to give recognition to her. I flew in for the Gods Love Bank Institute Spiritual Success Conference. Since American Airlines is the only carrier that services Abilene there are not a lot of options and my flight from NYC always lands after outback closes. Tricia was nice enough to take my phone order once I landed in Dallas so that I could at least have some hot good food after a long day of travel. The kitchen usually closes by time I arrive. This particular time the hotel shuttle was not on schedule and by time I arrived to outback, it was almost midnight but Tricia and her staff were waiting by the door with my food. She even walked it up to the hotel shuttle van. I was very grateful. That's what you call a love deposit! So when you come visit this outback make sure you see Tricia and say hello. I only wish Outback did not use so much salt, and since I don't eat meat they had no choices except salads or mixed veggies for me. read more

Actually 3.5 ... Take out on Mothers Day. Took a long time to bring the food out but very busy is to be expected. Issue was with what came out. Got home and found the loaded fries weren't in the order but a order of shrimp (that we didn't order) was. Bloomin Burger was just a burger. No blooms. Medium rare steak was medium but tough. Ordering extra sauce for the crab cakes wasn't very effective - actually got no sauce at all. All in all, not a bad meal but it's nice to get what you ordered - and paid for. read more

Ordered rib eye medium and it was way medium well. Tough. Guy next to me ordered medium rare and he complained over done too. Had a side of loaded mashed with no sour cream and it was loaded with sour cream. Other locations I've been to have bread but not this one.
