The homemade rolls are delicious and they have butter and honey on the table. I had their chicken and dumplings and my spouse had the CFS. I felt that the cream gravy was lack-luster and needed more seasoning. The chicken and dumplings were on-point and the sides we selected (mashed potatoes, corn and green beans) were delicious. Just left this place. Met friends here for lunch. This place is large, lots of outdoor seating and the inside is large too. Healthy lunch crowd for a weekday meal. Our server was friendly and energetic. She took us through what they have. Sides are communal, there was bread, beans, mash and cream corn. These were unlimited and free but not to be taken away. My husband has the chicken fried steak. It was the size of the dinner plate. He said it was super tasty. The batter was light, and steak was moist even though it's well cooked through. I had the lunch size catfish. Chose the tartare sauce. The batter was also light and fish was flaky. I took a bite of the chicken tender (our friends ordered), it was moist too! We try to go to Belle's whenever we are in Abilene! Great food served family style, great service and an Old West ambiance.

We love Belle's so much and I have to stop in every time I'm in the area. I'll even drive out of my way to grab some to go. My work travels are generally early in the week when they are closed so when I get the chance I'll load up for the family and bring it down to Houston. Still delicious 6hrs later. Stopped by Belle's today while we spent some time in Abilene. The atmosphere is really dark but eclectic. Our Server Britney was really great and fast. Peeps. Hands down one of the most entertaining places I've ever visited. The decor is wild. The servers are very friendly and the food is delicious. The food is amazing. The hot rolls were hot fluffy and delicious, there was honey and sorghum but they were so good you didn't need that. We had the chicken strips and chicken fried steak, both were over the top good. The sides were excellent and all you can eat. I had chicken and a roll left to eat for my breakfast. We travel a lot and have had some bad experiences, but this was NOT one of them. We will definitely stop here again. If you read the reviews just know there are some people you can never please. The table gets a standard set of sides, served family style, and are all you can eat. The sides are corn, smooth mashed potatoes, canned green beans, and white gravy. The table also gets as many rolls as they can eat. The deserts, which are an extra charge, are served as a single serving. We ordered chicken fried steak, chicken and dumplings, and coconut cream pie. As you can tell, this is "comfort" food, and it is all very satisfying. The furniture and decoration is eclectic. The staff will occasionally sing. They have a 3 song repertory: Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey , YMCA. The diners are welcome to join...this is a fun place to go! The food was seasoned perfectly. Literally everything was seasoned. It was our first time and they only offer 6 things as a main course. We chose fried chicken and chicken fried steak. When you order the chicken it comes with a half chicken. Seasoned, crispy, and moist. Definitely 10/10. The chicken fried steak was once again seasoned good. Was even good without the gravy. The sides are unlimited we couldn't finish the first serving but they were really good. And fresh baked bread was once again seasoned point. The service was great. We do not often go to Belles but the grandkids wanted to try it SO Took the 6 of us to Belles. They were very busy so we never got the 2nd batch of rolls we ordered. The food was good but I was surprised how skimpy the sides were. I am thinking they offer refills on the sides but the waitress was so busy she never got to come check on us. I felt sorry for the waitress because she was constantly running around trying to take care of way too many tables. First of all they have a shady patio suitable for well-behaved dogs--no indication on their website. We used the online ordering portal when we were 90 minutes out on I-20. When we arrived the food was ready. Portions were ample and hot. The chicken was fried perfectly albeit a wee bit salty as I see so often in the South. The mashed potatoes were neither good nor bad. The corn was marvelous: sweet, crisp and the right balance of crispy and tender. The yeasty-tender dinner rolls were fantastic. Belle's is one of my favorite places in Abilene! The food and service are consistent and we have not had anything but wonderful experiences there. Their sides are so-so in my opinion but I know many people really love them. The rolls are amazing, and I have to remember not to fill up on them. The menu is small, but I appreciate that they stick to what they know they can do well. On our last visit, I tried the catfish for the first time. I am pretty picky about my catfish but the fillets were well trimmed and were cooked perfectly. The restaurant is a little noisy because of the acoustics of the building. We met for a family lunch last time we went and it was hard to hear anyone who wasn't right beside you. If you want an intimate meal, this isn't the place.
