I was in Texas today and was wanting catfish because it's not a common grocery item in the Pacific Northwest. I ordered the 5 piece catfish lunch. The cole slaw and fried potatoes were good. The fish appeared to be strips of a catfish filet and seemed to be overcooked. I estimate that you get approximately three pieces per actual filet, so a three piece dinner is approximately one filet. The service was a little slow but attentive when the server got to me. The dining area is clean as well as the washroom. NOTE : When you receive the invoice, you will see an additional item in the pretax referred to as a "service fee." The order comes with hush puppies. The pieces of catfish were hit and miss. Some pieces were cooked perfectly and others were overcooked...dry and tough. The fries were barely warm and not fully cooked. That was a sad deal because they serve fresh cut. The hush puppies were horrible. Overcooked and no substance. The coleslaw was average. I've had worse and I've had better. Not much flavor. The service started out ok and then my waitress just disappeared. I later saw her in the side room doing....I don't know what. During my meal, there was a yelling screaming match going on between wait staff and the kitchen staff. Very unprofessional and kind of ruined my experience even more. Under Special Sandwich's, it said Cheesy Chicken Fried Bacon Burger. Why not? When it was put on the table in front of me is when I realized they had battered and chicken fried the bacon. It was a thing of true beauty! If you have never tried chicken fried bacon, your missing out! I made it through half of this huge burger, and took the rest home. I had to give it another try as I was craving fish and shrimp. I said maybe they were having a rough day. The food was seasoned well and the flavor was not that bad at all! Christy was my server. She was prompt with any need. They had an issue with some leaking, but it was well maintained and wet floor signs are all over. I had fish and shrimp combo loaded baked potatoe and slaw. The slaw tasted the same kinda old cabbage. So I think that is just the taste. The fish was cooked perfectly for me as I like my fish well done. The jumbo shrimp was so flavorful! The catfish and shrimp are always good as I've been here a few times now. I've also had the stuffed crab and that's definitely one of my favorites. My boys had the burger and they seemed to enjoy it. My one complaint is the temperature inside the restaurant. I guess they have one window unit to cool the place so it gets pretty hot in there. The door in the left was highly friendly, where the right side was less pleasant, needless to say we chose the left. The service was friendly but the wait time for food was a little longer than average especially for the amount of people in the place but worth the wait. We ordered the chicken strips which I got with fries and coleslaw and the hamburger with fries. Chicken was definitely freshly battered and flavored excellently (tiny bit of spice) and and the hamburger was delicious. Proportions were large. This place used to be the bomb back when I first got here 20 odd years ago when smoking was on one side of the building and non smoking on the other, we went often! Then they decided to change the recipe of their fish - bland tasteless fish now. Used to have spice and flavor! They now routinely mess up my check when I am with more than 4 other people which is all the time. I only go when I am invited by someone else now. which is once a year maybe - we used to go three or four times a month easy, and I often snuck off for a secret lunch by myself.
