If you like grilled salmon, you need to come to the Beehive. No one in town does it better. We try to stop by here every time we are in town. Never disappoints. My husband always gets a steak and enjoys every bite. I wanted to eat something lighter, so that taking a huge wedge of strawberry cheesecake would seem reasonable. LOL My salmon was grilled over mesquite and cooked to medium. Perfect. I told the server the chef deserved a big hug. So many places cook a piece of salmon to death, making it dry and chewy. But the Beehive knows what they are doing. We only had to wait 10 minutes to be seated at 6:30p.m. After we left, around 8pm, there were people in a 20-30 minute wait. Don't be discouraged, it's totally worth it. The Long Island Iced Tea will keep you coming back. Ample parking around the building and plenty of room for two or a group. My wife had a pork chop that cooked perfectly but a little too light on seasoning. My dad had a grilled chicken breast and it was cooked perfectly. My mom had a salad with grilled chicken. Honestly, the food was great. Ariana took care of all four of us. Very pleasant person, nice smile and very friendly and helpful. In fact, she took great care of us. This gem located in Abilene was recommended by the hotel worker and from the moment the doors open, they are packed! This is a fairly large establishment and while all tables appeared to be taken, the wait to be seated wasn't that long. All of the workers were very welcoming and the waitress didn't make me seem like a burden. I was so indecisive since everything seemed so appealing. After heavy debate, I ordered the Chef's Special, I wanted to live a little. The special included a Tomatoe chipotle pork chop, french onion mashed potatoes, sauteed veggies, and taco soup. I was skeptical at first but the flavors came together perfectly! The pork chop also wasn't your typical sized pork chop, it was about an inch thick. They are known for their Long Island Iced Teas but with the hefty meal, I ordered a Raspberry Lemon Drop that had the perfect ratio of mixer and alcohol. This was a great choice for dinner. Food is absolutely terrific! Everything we had was amazing. Had we not cleaned out plates with apps and mains we would have gotten desserts also bit had no room at all for anything else. The Texas tea is a must try drink as well. Our only gripe was the hostess who gave us major attitude upon asking to put two tables together. Beyond that all other staff were super kind and helpful. Even got to meet Nariman a co-owner of the business so that was special for us. We got seated within 15 minutes of arriving at 710pm without RSVP. Apps came out 20 minutes after ordering but entrees took 50 minutes after ordering to come out. It was very busy I admit also. We will come back again for sure to try more items like the fillet and prime rib which I am told is for some, the best they have ever had. read more

I have been coming here for years. Our waiters are usually friendly and prompt though the hostesses usually leave something to be desired as they are neither particularly friendly or responsive when you first walk in. For food the Filet is my usual go to though it's now the most expensive filet in Abilene and that includes Perinis. The Long Island Tea is a classic and a must try for anyone. Was passing through Abilene on a long road trip when my husband in googling dog friendly restaurants, found Beehive was listed as "pets welcome" in google reviews so we stopped here. Two hostesses informed us that they did not allow animals despite the incorrect online listing and offered no apologies or any further assistance to refer us to somewhere nearby where we could eat. My mother in law even mentioned when she arrived before us that the hostesses were not very friendly or polite when she interacted with them. Never got to try the food and unfriendly won't plan to return. read more

The salad looked like a soup with lettuce since it had more dressing than vegetables. A minor incident that won't prevent me from returning to this place or recommend it, but I feel it necessary to share happened when I entered the restaurant and was asked how many people were in the reservation. I said two. The lady told me to wait for my friend. I asked if I could wait at the table since I was thirsty. If you are meeting people there you will not be seated until all the guests have arrived. We were seated almost immediately and every interaction with staff was friendly and polite. Bread and whipped butter is served as an appetizer. It was good, but nothing special. We both chose salad with our meal. It was small but flavorful. It comes wit raw red onions and two slices of tomato. The ranch dressing is very very good and flavorful. My husband ordered Italian dressing and said it was a balsamic Italian and he liked it. I ordered the mesquite grilled shrimp which are served butterflied style still in the shell ( it didn't say that on the menu and I wasn't told that by the waitress). I have to say it was absolutely DELICIOUS, albeit messy to eat because of having to dig out the shrimp from the shell. I had no other choice but to use my hands as I tried multiple other ways to remove them from the shell with no luck! It was served with a very light coating of garlic butter, a grilled lemon on the side which really elevated the flavor and some clarified butter. I opted for French fries. They were good and enjoyable, but not memorable. My husband chose the 10oz filet mignon (med rare) and baked potato with butter. His steak was cooked to perfection just how he requested it. Flavor was good, a little peppery with a nice amount of salt. We've been to quite a few restaurants in town and this is the first steak he actually liked and would reorder! Price point was to be expected for the food we chose. Quality matched price point well. The do not do free drink refills (unless it's water). Each additional fountain drink is $2! Overall had a delicious dinner with great ambiance and polite and attentive staff! Would definitely recommend for a nice dinner date! Price before tip (WITHOUT ordering appetizers, drinks from the bar or dessert) was about $80 and around $96 with tip. I say give them a try. We will be back! read more

Wow this was really good. Prime rib is no joke, it's huge and the drippings are amazing. The hamburger is probably the best I've ever had, the flavor of the meat is just perfect and salty. I would say they err on the side of undercooking the food, so medium rare was actually very rare and medium well was red in the middle. But we enjoyed it. The chicken fried steak is the best I've had, properly thinned steak so it wasn't chewy, the breading actually stayed on, and the white gravy wasn't overly greasy. The sweet potato with the sweet toppings is so delicious it's like a dessert. I would order that over dessert any day. The fries are perfectly flavored and crispy, lots of skins like I like. Great service, the people here are great. *But* I thought the bread basket was extremely bland. My kids enjoyed it because they love all bread but I passed. I think my expectations were maybe too high for the long island based on other reviews, it was good but not extraordinary other than the size of it. Also everything was pretty salty and overly rich, it could have been less so and still really good. This was a wonderful treat and then we ate salad for 3 days. read more

I had been here a couple times pre-covid and thought it was very good. My wife and I don't go out much, but I finally got her to to try it. I had a sandwich special which was good size and very tasty, however, there was a lot of fat on the rib-eye steak. My wife got the chicken-fried steak. It was okay, with a decent portion size. However, it should have been pounded much thinner. I don't think either of us got the sides we were supposed to get. I specifically asked our server if the mashed potatoes were smooth or with potato chunks; she told me smooth, but thy were very chunky.
