I'll start with the bad, then finish with the good. Short story? I'll be back. But... Luigi's Little Italy needs to up their game on fried appetizers. Being our first visit, we tried to sampler so that we could experience 3 of the apps at once. The calamari, mozzarella sticks and "toasted" ravioli all seemed to be fried in the same batter, and the same oil. I would question the quality of the items even before frying.... and the frying didn't help their cause. I ate one bland, not-so-fresh tasting calamari ring, one bite of a mozzarella stick and one bite of the ravioli. The rest of the appetizer went home to the dog. I mean, this place is dated, and this I knew before eating. Which is fine--I think many of us have a need to experience the nostalgia of the Italian restaurants of yesteryear. Rubber grapes hanging from the ceilings, painted images of Italy on the wall. Unchanged from when I was a teenager in Western NY and we would go out for Italian; the decor and menu seem to be the same. But the quality of ingredients needs to be current. We have come to expect better! A lot of Italian places are doing more creative things, with better calamari. Appetizers such as burrata and carpaccio are present on modern Italian menu's. If you are going to stick with the old stuff, it needs to be GREAT. Okay, enough of the negativity. The Chicken Florentine ordered by my companion was very good. The sauce was nice, flavorful, and not too heavy (although perhaps too generous but that's going back to the dated thing). I have a sampler of stuffed pastas, and the red sauce was very much to my liking. A touch of sweet, not too acidic, just the way I like sauce to be. They have a decent wine selection. I didn't try the desserts. I'm quite a cannoli purist...and I hate to be disappointed, so I didn't risk it. Overall--we'll be back. We'll be back for the friendly and consistent service, the generally good food (skip the fried stuff), and the kitschy ambience. read more

Stopped in today for lunch and it was phenomenal. Kim was our waitress and she answered all our questions and was very attentive. We started with the stuffed mushrooms and ended up asking that she leave the bowl so we could dip into the cheese that it came in. I ordered the baked pasta sampler (lasagna, baked ziti, manicotti) and my husband got the Stromboli. They were both delicious! Sorry no pictures, (phones put away while eating). I got a house salad with my plate, but didn't care for it. It was basically a bowl full of lettuce (2 small cubes of tomato and 2 slivers of purple onion). Would love to come back and try another dish. The restaurant was clean (a little dark) and so were the restrooms. read more

Wow! We ordered delivery and it was surprisingly good - a variety of dishes (cheese ravioli, Alfredo, lasagna, baked ziti) and all were hot, fresh and very tasty. The rolls were great also, along with the fried ravioli. This will become a regular goto when we want Italian. read more

Food was delicious and served hot in the best way possible. Also our waitress Rebecca was really sweet and was on top of it when it came to checking in with us. It was my first time eating inside the restaurant and I can say it was very comforting and cozy. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 star was cause the floors were sticky but that's a personal preference but overall a lovely experience would come back to try something new! read more

It was pretty empty because we went after lunch but before dinner. The food was delicious, and the restaurant was cute. I came here on the recommendation of my daughter's dentist and dental assistant and I'm glad they said to go here. My daughter had a bit of an emergency and I ran up to get a to go box and tell them I needed my check and to leave fast and when I packed my daughter and my food up and went to pay the guy said the owner overheard me and had drastically reduced my bill. I do not come here often, but when I do I always enjoy it. I would describe their food as "comfort food." Rich & creamy! Love their pink sauce. The restaurant is homey and relatively casual. The lone drawback was we made the mistake of accepting a small table surrounded by three walls. It was cramped and echoed a lot. So let's start a little before we get to the restaurant. I dropped by my sister's house and she asked where we were going. I told her we were going to Little Italy because we've never been there. She actually scowled at me! I said what? She then tells me that she Doesn't like the flavor. I'm like whatevs cause I want to try it. The first thing we noticed were the delicious desserts in the cooler by the register! They were very polite and courteous. Asked if we wanted a table or booth. With 3 men and myself we definitely needed a table. They came and took our drink order, then came back very promptly. She took the appetizer order. Please look at the pictures I posted. I love ordering the bread with a side of pink sauce to dip in and the Caprese salad for a start, followed by their very delicious mushroom soup before your entrée, careful though....if you fill up too much on bread, you won't make it to the entrée lol Today I tried their Linguini and clams, and it was very good! I haven't had this dish in a very long time but my first time from here and it was refreshing after all that heavy pink sauce and mushroom soup to have a lighter sauced pasta. Other favorites are the veal cremora, the chicken Florentine, and the marsala, honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on this menu. It's all delicious! This place was recommended by so many people that it was hard to not give them the 5 stars . I showed up before the Dinner rush at 4:15pm on a Friday. Walked in and waited at the front hostess section for about 10 minutes. No one in sight and no customers around. When someone finally showed up, I had to ask if I'm fact they were open even though the hours sign did say they were. She did apologize and took me to my booth. I ordered right away Spaghetti with meatballs and a side of the Italian Wedding soup. Service was really good. The only downside was that they dropped off cold and hard garlic bread that tasted like they were sitting around for hours. I had to ask for fresh ones and let them know why. The spaghetti came out and it was supreme. So was the soup. I will definitely try them again. I hope next time their rolls come out fresh and I do t have to wait so long for a table. read more

Finally tried this little Italian getaway in the middle of Abilene....and it's great! Fresh bread with olive oil and herbs, attentive staff, nice atmosphere, and overall a great local joint. Definitely would recommend this for a casual date night, lunch spot, or family dinner. It has plenty of seating, booths, and tables. The inside is clean, but it's not white table cloth or anything. Recommend the lobster ravioli, or any of the classic Italian dishes honestly. You won't leave hungry! read more

This place is kind of hit or miss. I love Italian food and I've been here a handful of times so far. I usually try something different each time. My suggestion is to stick with pasta dishes and you can't go wrong. They are all very flavorful, but I feel like some are much larger than others. For instance the baked ravioli's portion size is more like an appetizer, but the regular tortellini is a full dinner size. I don't recommend any of the chicken dishes, especially the chicken picatta. Fantastic, absolutely fantastic! So far we've gone to little Italy 7 times, and order via services twice. Every time the food is amazing. In the restaurant, the service has always been great! My personal go to is the Tortellini in pink sauce with sausage added. It always hits the spot. Their Alfredo is flavorful and hits the right notes. My kids love the spaghetti and meatballs. The rolls here are perfect! And their garlic mozzarella bread is a meal onto itself. Don't skip on desert, though we always have to take ours to go. I can't possibly recommend this restaurant any higher, it is our go to for Italian food! read more
