Goat Cheese Jalapeno Poppers
Kris U.

| Food | 5 stars - The complimentary warm, crusty bread and creamy butter was a great start to our meal. 5 stars - The Goat Cheese Jalapeño Poppers are absolutely irresistible -- stuffed with rich, creamy goat cheese, crispy bacon crumbles, and just the right kick of jalapeño. Drizzled with a silky avocado ranch dressing and topped with fresh chives, they strike the perfect balance of heat, tang, and indulgence. 5 stars - The Carbonara pasta is comfort on a plate. Tossed in a velvety sauce with just the right amount of richness. Topped with crispy, golden fried chicken that's perfectly tender inside, each bite is satisfying. 4 stars - The grilled Caesar salad was nearly spot-on -- the charred romaine added a wonderful smoky depth, perfectly paired with classic Caesar dressing and generous shavings of Parmesan. The only thing missing are some anchovies on top. | Drinks | We all enjoyed the Spicy Pineappletini cocktail, so much so, we each had a couple! It was perfectly blended with subtle spice and a nice hint of sweet pineapple flavor. You can tell they use fresh lime juice. Perfection with the tajin rim. | Atmosphere | I loved the "vintage Texas" decor and atmosphere. The main dining room is gorgeous with massive furniture, wrought iron lighting fixtures, floral arrangements, and elaborate taxidermy on the walls. Pro Tip: the golden "taxidermy" figures in the hallway against the dynamic wallpaper makes for a great photo backdrop. | Service | Our server, Courtney, is all heart, all hospitality--and straight outta Texas. Seriously, she is one of the best servers I've ever experienced. She provided flawless and efficient service. We never wanted for anything - our water glasses were magically filled we needed, plates promptly taken away when finished, and somehow she appeared with perfect timing for us to order more cocktails. She knew the menu very well and made excellent suggestions. It's like she could read our minds at times, for example with splitting the check she knew exactly how to handle it for our party.

Calamari & Cactus

We have lived here 3.5 years and have never been to this restaurant. WOW!!! We decided to make a reservation for NYE. So glad we did. I am also very glad we dressed up. What a classy establishment! We arrived 45 mins early and thought we would just go to the bar and have a drink while we waited. The bar top was full. We were able to order a drink and after a few minutes we were able to sit down. Such great atmosphere. They were able to get us seated 10 minutes early which was great. We had a nice little table for two. There was so many things we wanted to try off the menu. Too bad they don't do a sampler plate of all the things. I normally do not order soup but all the reviews said it was a must try. Boy were they correct! The lobster bisque had huge chunks of lobster meat and the soup was so creamy with a great flavor. We also started off with the calamari and cactus. It had a little bit of a spicy kick which was wonderful. I was intrigued by the blackened red fish so that is what I got. It came with wild rice and the fish had crawfish and crab meat on it as well. It was a very flaky white fish that had an amazing flavor. I also tried a side of jalapeno grits. They were sooo good. My wife got the ribeye steak that came with a loaded baked potato. The steak had a great flavor and was cooked perfectly as medium rare. Our waiter was Logan. He was fantastic. He was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. I am sorry we waited so long to find this little gem. We will definitely be back.

Beautifully cooked prime rib in an authentic rustic ambience. The lobster bisque was delicious! Highly recommend.

The Cooper Creek is an authentic rustic restaurant with charming ambience. The prime rib was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The lobster bisque was delicious and we'll balanced. I highly recommend!

Goat Cheese Jalapeno Poppers Lunch

Came here for a late lunch on Easter Sunday and glad that we did. We started off with the goat cheese jalapeño poppers. Now I am not a fan of goat cheese but these were incredible! Absolutely incredible! As for the entrees, my wife had the chop steak which had great flavor while I had the chicken fried chicken, which was cooked perfectly. Their gravy that I smothered all over it was also excellent. As for the desserts, the carrot cake was just mediocre. Felt that it was too dense, could have done without the raisins and added more frosting. However, their specialty dessert was off the charts good. It came out smoking from the dried ice. My body reminded me Sunday night and most of Monday why I shouldn't eat spicy food, but I would gladly suffer the consequences to have those jalapeño poppers again. Look forward to going back and trying more stuff next time we are in town.

Perini Ranch Steakhouse is outstanding!…read more The 16-ounce ribeye was excellent. The beef quality was superb--thick-cut, tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned without overpowering its natural flavor. While the edges were cooked slightly beyond medium due to the uneven cut, that's a very minor critique. The grilled asparagus was delicious, and the green chile hominy was absolutely amazing. Overall, I would give Perini Ranch Steakhouse a 98 out of 100. The food, atmosphere, and quality were exceptional, making it one of the best of the steakhouses I've experienced.

I left Perini Ranch Steakhouse disappointed, especially given all the hype and glowing reviews…read more We were seated outside at 5 PM when it was about 95 degrees. The outdoor seating consisted of old wooden tables and benches that were uncomfortable, and the heat alone made it difficult to enjoy the meal. To make matters worse, we spent the entire dinner fighting flies. The steaks were around $50 each, and honestly, they were underwhelming. They lacked seasoning and flavor, especially for the price point. I've had better-seasoned steaks at Texas Roadhouse and Outback for roughly half the cost. The sides were equally disappointing: bland, uninspired, and forgettable. The bread pudding was decent and was probably the best part of the meal. Overall, the combination of uncomfortable outdoor seating, excessive heat, flies, and mediocre food made for a frustrating experience. I had heard so many great things about Perini Ranch Steakhouse and expected something special, but it simply didn't live up to the reputation.

Casual. We sat at the bar and our bartender was amazing! He was funny and attentive despite being very busy! Service: The restaurant was so busy with diners even at 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening. I did not expect it to be this busy in my head. My husband and I sat at the bar since that was open seating and there were no sit down tables available inside or on the patio. The restaurant will add you to the waitlist if you'd like! Food: My husband and I shared the deviled eggs appetizer, and "the burger" with grilled jalapeños and pepper jack cheese. The deviled wggs (satan's huevos) were good, and spicy because we chose the "hellfire" option. The burger was huge! I'm glad my husband I split it because there was no way I'd finish that burger on my own! We both left content and not stuffed.

My wife and I came here on a Saturday early afternoon. We were sat and handed brunch menus which…read moredidn't have the Philly cheese steak on it. We looked at the menu online prior to coming and knew that we both wanted to try the cheese steak, so this was a bit of a bummer. They waitress who was very attentive told us that we can't order from the full menu for another 30 minutes so we decided to wait rather than leave. Listen, I get it the idea of having a different menu for brunch, but why not post it on your website and state the specific times for each menu? Also, what difference does 30 minutes make? They couldn't fire up the grill 30 minutes early? It wasn't very busy. Anyways, now for the good part: When we were finally allowed to order our sandwiches they were absolutely amazing. The steak was high quality and the gooey cheese had a ton of flavor. What wasn't amazing however was the bill. $20 for a sandwich and a small portion of fries in Abilene is absolute insanity. What's even crazier is we were charged extra for a side of ranch! I understand you get what you pay for, and there's no arguing the quality of the sandwich was top notch, but at the end of the day it's still just a sandwich. If you're good with dropping nearly $60 (including tip) on lunch, then this is your spot. For me, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Our server was friendly and energetic. She took us through what they have. Sides are communal, there was bread, beans, mash and cream corn. These were unlimited and free but not to be taken away. My husband has the chicken fried steak. It was the size of the dinner plate. He said it was super tasty. The batter was light, and steak was moist even though it's well cooked through. I had the lunch size catfish. Chose the tartare sauce. The batter was also light and fish was flaky. I took a bite of the chicken tender (our friends ordered), it was moist too! We finished lunch with a cherry cobler and their homemade fresh cream. If was to die for. Gotta try.

I had to use my flashlight to read the menu and to get opt the restroom in the back. Menu is simple, making it easy to figure out what to order. The homemade rolls are delicious and they have butter and honey on the table. I had their chicken and dumplings and my spouse had the CFS. I felt that the cream gravy was lack-luster and needed more seasoning. The chicken and dumplings were on-point and the sides we selected (mashed potatoes, corn and green beans) were delicious. I do wish that they had regular size spoons (or teaspoons) available. i did not like using a giant serving spoon to eat. But that did not detract from the taste of the food.
