Wow, this place really impressed us. Trendy design and great food -- I spent 10 years in Abilene back in the 80s, and a spot like the Cork & Pig was not what I expected to find here. My wife had the asian salad, and she says it was the best she'd ever had. I had the fish tacos with mac and cheese, and both were unusually flavorful and had a great texture (I rarely eat much mac and cheese, but I finished all of this). Service was good, friendly and helpful. I appreciated the decor and general vibe of the place, inside and out, including the music. My only quibble might be that parking was a bit tighter than expected, but not a problem. Slow wait staff. Limited brunch menu and no substitutions. Example flour tortillas instead of corn. Same goes for the sandwich bread. Our food was cold. We were in town for a birthday and chose to celebrate at this establishment. We spent over an hour attempting to make a reservation for 8 but they never answered the phone. We walked in and were told it would be 30-45 min wait. After waiting an hour as advised in the text notification, we asked about the wait time. A Hispanic woman walking around with an iPad told us it was Friday night and it would be another hour and a half wait. We asked about a large group that was just camping out after their dinner and she said they had a reservation. We asked to speak to the manager that was working with us and apologized when we arrived and we advised about their failure to answer the phone. She said he was conducting training in the kitchen and could not come out. This store has poor management. What kind of management conducts training on a Friday night. Furthermore, what restaurant allows a reservation to exceed more than 2 hours when other guests have waited over an hour. Needless to say we elected to go somewhere else. I do not recommend this establishment. I encourage basic training of management staff and implementation of a time period for reservations on busy days/nights. DO BETTER CORK & PIG!!! read more

Our waitress was amazing. The food was equally amazing. I got the roasted chicken with parm mashed potatoes. The presentation was artistic and the flavor was superb. My wife ordered the fish tacos, blackened, the fish with salmon. It came with a side of flash fried cauliflower drizzled with aïoli sauce. The ambience was nice. The decor was nice. The restaurant was nice. The bathrooms were clean and nice. No paper napkins, here you are given cloth napkins. The restaurant had a lot of windows overlooking a pond with water fountains. When you're through eating, you can walk around the pond on a nice cement path lined with trees. This is a nice restaurant a little upscale, dress is nicer. read more

Cork & Pig is by far one of the best restaurants in Abilene! Although, food quality has gone down recently. Calamari was served with more fried onion than calamari. Truffle fries came out cold. Pizza came without the fresh basil. Another visit, the pizza oven wasn't working! A few weird experiences that have been becoming consistent. Service is always good though! Without a doubt one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is so relaxing with mood lighting for dinner, and plenty of space to enjoy our food. We are always very nicely greeted at the door and sit down to dine very quickly. The service is very nice and speedy, we've had multiple waiters but they have all excelled finely. Visited twice this week while working in Abilene. Once with a large group and once with a smaller bunch. Service was great both times. Beautiful spot in Abilene. The patio is so great, you would have no idea you were in West Texas. green space, water, room for kids to run around. The food is excellent and there are so many options, something for every taste. I have gone for brunch three times and dinner once. The dinner was nothing special. However, the brunch was what initially brought me back the first two times. This most recent and last time has me thinking differently. Normally I would go soon after they opened and the food was great, this last time I went several hours after opening and the difference in quality was shocking. Some of my food was cold and certain items on the plate were clearly prepared differently than the last two times. The place was very busy so I understand trying to get things out from the kitchen but if you can only get food out by serving it cold then maybe a different approach is needed especially when they're charging the prices that they are. I feel like everytime I eat here my experience gets worse and worse. The food quality is awful, especially for how much they are charging. It seems like the night cooks don't care at all about the food they are sending out. The grilled food is almost always dry and flavorless.... I have eaten at this tavern several times, and each time, the food was excellent. Cooked perfectly, presented well, and delicious going down. The drinks and service were also professional and polite. My one complaint is reservations. You can make reservations, but they don't always deliver. Better to check in early and confirm a few times. It's a small place, so they don't have many ways to accommodate you re: seating. Still, the food is worth the trouble. read more

Came on a Saturday night so no surprise we had to sit at the bar, which was not busy at all for a place with a dining room wait. Everyone was super friendly especially the hostess. Smash burger was great, as were the deviled eggs and truffle fries. Only real complaint was the bartenders congregating at the other end of the bar to talk amongst themselves rather than serving customers sitting at the bar. If you end up at the bar, sit at the end farthest from the front door and you should be good read more

Abilene, home of 3 colleges so it's certainly a college town. With a kiddo here for college and football, we had to venture and find somewhere to eat. They Yelp reviews were pretty good, so after a football game at the stadium, Cork and Pig Tavern was the pick to try. It's located across from Abilene Christian University (ACU) Stadium. It is located in a newer retail area with other food establishments along with things like a Yoga studio and more. The ambience is nice. It overlooks the water on the back side. There is patio seating available as well. The service is pretty good. Must admit we've had REALLY, REALLY good and we've have mediocre. It can be a hit and miss. Everything I have eaten here thus far has been really good. My favorite is the salmon covered in crab with the lemon butter caper sauce. DELICIOUS! Their beef stroganoff and fish and chips also really good. They have the skinny shoestring fries seasoned just right. They get their ingredients fresh each day which explains the food quality. :) The kiddos like everything from the chicken parmesan to the burgers too. This was honestly our #1 go to spot this football season. We'll be back a few times in the spring too. read more

Omg! Absolutely the worst experience on every level. Party of 6 (big?) Host lost our group twice so after 45 minutes we finally were seated outside and had to put our own tables together. No wait staff until we flagged them down. All immediately place food and drink orders (staving!). Apparently they are out of Bud Light (don't judge it wasn't mine) on Friday night. Only water and soda were brought then 10 min later 1 cocktail and 15 after that the second finally appeared. Food... ahh... food finally appeared. 2 out of 3 pizzas. ‍. As 2/3 of the table is finishing our food arrived. We simply refused it. At this point we are over it. Lastly, they screwed up our check, we paid what we owed and left. We will never be back. Place was somewhat busy, sat at the empty bar for brunch. Service was subpar and biscuits and gravy brunch was awful. Biscuits were clearly old, hard and took 30 minutes to get our order. Garden salad was lovely and devil eggs were good. Watching the bar staff makes drinks it was clear they are inexperienced.
