    Filet mignon

Was told by a customer service agent at the airport to check out Lytle. I was impressed upon walking in with the size and decorations. However, a lot of that ended when I sat at the bar, which was virtually empty, and received very lackluster service. I could understand if the bar and restaurant were busy, but they were not. After a lot of reflection after leaving I realized that I was ignored many times by the staff. I wasn't even asked if I wanted water, bread (which was complimentary, and after asking for it was super dry), or a bag for my leftovers. After receiving the smallest steak on earth (which was a 4 oz filet mignon for $28?!), and two sets of green beans which were salty, I had to hurry to the airport. While waiting for my food I had to swat off several flies from dropping in my old fashioned, which was actually decent. However, I would not return for a juicy steak due to the service. I hope this improves in the future.

If you are looking for cold mashed potatoes, try this place, if you would like canned green beans, try this place, if you want the worst steak you could ever have, try this place, if you want chicken fried steak that makes you chew for 10 mins with every single bite like it's beef jerky, try this place, if you want a medium rare $64 filet mignon that is first overcooked and well done, then brought back out raw and the cook tries to convinces everyone it is cooked right, try this place, if the staff agrees that your $64 steak is not prepared right AND YOU DONT EVEN TAKE A BITE FROM IT but they offer a $9 discount and that's the best they could do, try this place. For us, we tried and will NEEEEVER go back!

Drove in from El Paso and lucked up at this establishment. Everything was amazing from the food to the service. There was a band playing in the back and everything just felt homey. Nice atmosphere with friendly staff. I will be coming back in the near future.

The 'Sharon' ribeye. Took a bite before I remembered to take a picture

Driving across country in 2017, I stopped here and had the large Abilenian rib eye that was cooked to perfection. Finally made it back to Abilene 6/11/25 just in time for dinner. Ordered the smaller Sharon Rib eye steak this time because I still had miles to go. More than enough meat to fill me up. Again one heck of a good tasting steak. Waitress was very attentive and friendly. Will always eat a steak here if the opportunity arises in my travels.

Food was cold, taste like can food and steak was awful, asked for medium rare filet minion and came out over cooked and it took the manager to confirm it was over cooked than the next steak didn't look right and tasted rubbery. Chicken fried steak was so chewy couldn't eat it.

I think 3.5 stars is very fair. Things just don't seem to flow. The food took a while which no problem. But we honestly thought our waitress quit because after she took our order we just didn't see her again....anywhere. The food is overall very good. The fire kissed chicken is so tender and flavorful oh it was so good. The Mac and cheese was just sad. It's a premium side so they charge $3.99 for it and it's literally velveeta. Considering it's a "premium side" I was expecting it to be homemade at the very least and not one ingredient away from being plastic.

In town for work with Boss Lady. Stopped here due to a recommendation. For being a steakhouse, the steak wasn't prime beef. Our server was pleasant and kept checking on us...kudos. I ordered a couple of drinks from the bar, which must have been via smoke signals, because it took way too long to arrive. We ordered a steak and a pork chop. She had the steak ,which was cooked to order...medium. Problem was that it was tough and had lots of grizzle. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered a single pork chop, green beans and mashed potatoes. The PC had good flavor from the seasoning, but the green beans desperately needed salt, and the mash was flavorless. Great western atmosphere, but we'll try someplace else next time.

Nice people and good food stays open late. I'd go back again. Plenty of parking. A good size dinning area.

From the moment you arrive, it feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere--in the best way possible. The rustic atmosphere is incredible, and on the cool day we visited, they had a wood-burning fireplace going right in the middle of the dining room. It made the whole experience feel cozy and authentic. What really stood out, though, was the people. The service was absolutely top-notch from start to finish. I even had the chance to chat with a woman who's been working there for over 20 years--she shared some of the restaurant's history and how it's evolved over time, which made the visit even more special. For food, we started with the fried quail legs--perfectly cooked and seriously delicious (we could've easily eaten more). For the main course, I had the ribeye cooked medium rare, and it was spot on--full of flavor and didn't need a thing added. My wife went with the hamburger steak and loved it as well. Great food, even better people, and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. We'll definitely be back.

The ambience is fine; sortuv a rustic cabin feel. We've had great service the two times we went, and the table bread is wonderful. Not impressed with the thick, (cooked?) carpaccio or the overcooked brussel sprouts. Compared to the USA, it's a 3/5. But in Abilene? Maybe a 4/5.

Casual. We sat at the bar and our bartender was amazing! He was funny and attentive despite being very busy! Service: The restaurant was so busy with diners even at 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening. I did not expect it to be this busy in my head. My husband and I sat at the bar since that was open seating and there were no sit down tables available inside or on the patio. The restaurant will add you to the waitlist if you'd like! Food: My husband and I shared the deviled eggs appetizer, and "the burger" with grilled jalapeños and pepper jack cheese. The deviled wggs (satan's huevos) were good, and spicy because we chose the "hellfire" option. The burger was huge! I'm glad my husband I split it because there was no way I'd finish that burger on my own! We both left content and not stuffed.

We looked at the menu online prior to coming and knew that we both wanted to try the cheese steak, so this was a bit of a bummer. They waitress who was very attentive told us that we can't order from the full menu for another 30 minutes so we decided to wait rather than leave. Listen, I get it the idea of having a different menu for brunch, but why not post it on your website and state the specific times for each menu? Also, what difference does 30 minutes make? They couldn't fire up the grill 30 minutes early? It wasn't very busy. Anyways, now for the good part: When we were finally allowed to order our sandwiches they were absolutely amazing. The steak was high quality and the gooey cheese had a ton of flavor. What wasn't amazing however was the bill. $20 for a sandwich and a small portion of fries in Abilene is absolute insanity. What's even crazier is we were charged extra for a side of ranch! I understand you get what you pay for, and there's no arguing the quality of the sandwich was top notch, but at the end of the day it's still just a sandwich. If you're good with dropping nearly $60 (including tip) on lunch, then this is your spot. For me, I'll take my business elsewhere.

Our server was friendly and energetic. She took us through what they have. Sides are communal, there was bread, beans, mash and cream corn. These were unlimited and free but not to be taken away. My husband has the chicken fried steak. It was the size of the dinner plate. He said it was super tasty. The batter was light, and steak was moist even though it's well cooked through. I had the lunch size catfish. Chose the tartare sauce. The batter was also light and fish was flaky. I took a bite of the chicken tender (our friends ordered), it was moist too! I felt that the cream gravy was lack-luster and needed more seasoning. The chicken and dumplings were on-point and the sides we selected (mashed potatoes, corn and green beans) were delicious. I do wish that they had regular size spoons (or teaspoons) available. i did not like using a giant serving spoon to eat. But that did not detract from the taste of the food.
