I ordered online and picked up at the drive thru. I asked for some tater sauce and the lady told me that she couldn't give me any without charging me! I said...ok...sooo...no one can get condiments for free with their orders anymore? She told me no so I just drove off. Now I have to eat my fish with no tater sauce. I will never go back there again. That is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I don't know if it was because I ordered in the app or what. If I would have ordered at the drive thru speaker would she have given it to me? Or charged me for each packet or what. I'm just so mad right now. Not even about the tater sauce but the point in general and the fact that she blatantly refused to give me any freakin sauce packets! I'm not sure where the breakdown occurred between the app and the store, but on Dec. 18, around noon, the Long John Silver's location in Abilene held my paid order for roughly 20 minutes. My husband and I both ordered $80 combined online only minutes apart. When we arrived my husband's order was ready mine wasn't. The server stated that my order did not show up in their system and that the manager would not allow it to be prepared until it did. At the same time, the server had a printed receipt that was identical to the one displayed in my app. There was no manager visible or available to speak with during this time. Eventually, someone authorized the server to prepare my order. While I understand the need to prevent fraud, the situation could have been handled far more professionally and with clearer communication. I was asked to sign a DoorDash-style pickup log and provided both my email receipt and my driver's license, which clearly showed my name. Despite this, I was made to feel as though I was attempting to claim an order that wasn't mine. At the very least, it would have been helpful to speak directly with the manager. Going above and beyond would have been remaking my husband's order, which had been sitting out and grew cold while we waited. Instead, the experience felt disorganized and uncomfortable, leaving us both disappointed. I did submit a complaint through the store survey and gave permission to be contacted, but so far there has been no follow-up. I waited in the drive thru line for nearly 30 minutes only to be informed that the grill is off. I was informed of this information at 8:58pm. Their store hours indicate they close at 10:00pm. Why would you turn the grill off when you're still open for another hour... I asked to speak to a manager and of course she was very rude. And literally walked away from the mic and stopped speaking with me while I was in the middle of a sentence. The previous reviews were right. I just got an order delivered by door dash, was supposed to have an extra six hush puppies but, did not get them have tried to call the store repeatedly to no avail! I'm assuming when they are busy they do not bother to answer the phone! Not sure how to get money back or credit for another order later! I'm hoping their manager sees this review and contacts me by responding here! This is third time I've been shorted food after paying for it! I would like some sort of contact or I will contact corporate office and go that direction this one was small but last one was a whole meal, and time before that was missing 3 pc fish! A long time ago, going to LJS was the place to go. I went today, foe the firet time in about 2 years. Sad disappointment. The chicken "planks" are nuggets, not strips at all. I counted, and my fries numbered 12. 13 fries? The slaw was good and enough to share, thank goodness because the girl taking the order didn't cate. Gave me double fried on one order when I specifically said fries and slaw on both plates. When I asked at the windo for condiments and asked if there was vinegar in the bag, she didn't even let me finish and said yes. The answer was no. I will not eat here again. It's ridiculous. Sorry. I don't know if this location is a franchise or a company-owned store. I would dare say it is a franchise because I don't think of Corporation that large would run a store this bad. If I could do less than 1 star, I would! We sat in the drive thru line for 65 minutes. I paid for our meal or we would have driven off. The person at the window couldn't understand what we ordered. 2 #7 meals, 1 #5 meal. Simple. We kept getting huge boxes of fish. He took them back 3 different times and we finally got a large box with 1 piece of fish and 1 piece of chicken. Nothing else. We have not been to LJS for a few years but decided to give it a try. I know this location has quite a few bad reviews but it seems like they're trying to turn things around. It was only open for drive through as it looked like they only had a couple of workers, and it did seem a little long but it was well worth it!!! This was the best fish and chips we've had in quite a while! Everything, the fish, fries, & hush puppies, were all freshly cooked , piping hot, cooked to perfection, and tasty, just like in the old days about 30 years ago! The Cole slaw was fresh tasting also. The gentleman taking the orders, taking payment, & handing out the food was very kind and courteous. Now granted the building is in a state of disrepair, and I would have counted off on the rating if the food had not have been so good, but hopefully with increased quality of food and service their business revenue will increase and they will be able to afford repairs and updates. Maybe the corporation will help with updates and maybe an Abilene business foundation can help with repairs. So give them a try and let's see if we can save the only LJS in Abilene from shutting down! read more

A cozy little fast food seafood restaurant in a sleepy town. It's a bit off the main highway so you're not gonna be crowded by travelers and tourists. Upon walking in the first thing I noticed is how my shoes stuck to the floor. We placed our order and the lady was friendly and professional. By the time I had gotten tartar sauce and sat down she was bringing the food to the table. It was good as always. I got shrimp and fish with slaw and fries for $8.99 - reasonable for seafood and a great price for the quantity of food served. My only problem is that it's hard to enjoy your food in an establishment that looks so dirty. besides the sticky floor, there were cobwebs in the light fixture right above the table and the wall was covered in black dust from a vent that was also above the table. Place was dirty, not filthy, but dirty floors, and could do with a good deep clean. The big problem was the kid handling the register, had no idea what he was doing. The same issues that have led to the demise of the Long John Silver's chain nationwide are the same that plague this location. The building is dated and grungy looking. Maybe that is intentional so we get the feeling of a rustic fish shack? The facade could be forgiven if everything else was on point, but alas... The wait time is unacceptable; 20 minutes for a single order... That had to be given back because it was wrong. The drive thru menu is confusing. Combos 1-4 are "combos" and come with a drink. "Meals" 5-9 do not come with a drink. Why would you ever make that distinction? I shouldn't have to read the fine print in the corner. Every fast food restaurant has combo meals, and they ALL come with a drink. My guess is they are trying to hide how expensive things are. The price I can forgive, I don't care what it costs when I have a hankering for some Long John Silver's. But, the bait and switch feels disingenuous. When the food was finally delivered (the second time) it didn't include plasticware for the sides. I guess I was supposed to shove my face into my little styrofoam cup and suck out my corn like an anteater. Oh, and no napkins. Because it's not like Long John Silver's isn't already one of the greasiest foods around. After my anteater hoover maneuver, you can imagine the pickle I was in... Also, I ordered Sept 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Person taking my payment and handing me food wasn't wearing a mask. Wasn't wearing gloves. Physically took my card (every other fast food place holds out the point of sale device and has you insert card with chip yourself so they never make contact with your card). The entire experience was slow, confused, potentially contaminated and I will not likely be back. The ultimate problem with this location, and with every Long John Silver's location, isn't the food. It's the systems and the processes that lead to long wait times, wrong orders, and poor customer service. It feels like the 80s and 90s again. We have computer systems now that should be making this process idiot proof, to the point that you can hire a monkey to take and deliver orders and they come out quickly, correctly and reproducibly every time. That Long John Silver's hasn't figured this out is why they have failed as a company and why I doubt we'll see many left in the next 10 years. And, to be clear, this is a shame. No one else has the recipes we've all come to love from Long John Silvers. I hope someone at this location (and corporate) reads this review, and those like them, in order to save their restaurants from an otherwise slow and painful death spiral. read more

This place was disgusting. The bathroom floor had water all over it and smelled musty, toilet didn't flush, and the toilet had urine all over the seat. That's not even the worst of it though, the floor throughout the restaurant was so covered with grease that my entire family was slipping, my 14 month old daughter slipped on the grease and busted her front teeth which resulted in a lot of blood and screaming. Through all of that not one single employee came to check on her or even ask if she was ok. This place is ridiculous. I will never set foot back in there. I haven't eaten inside this Long Johns but I go through the drive though regularly. The food is always good and I've never had a problem with them getting my order correct. The staff is friendly and courteous. The reason I'm leaving a 2 star review is because of the wait time, it usually takes at least 25 minutes from the time I order to the time I receive my order, and that's if there was nobody in the drive through when I pulled in. Today there was 5 cars in line when I got there, I waited 15 minutes and none of them had moved at all so I left. If it takes you an extra 20 minutes to get to the other location you would still save time in the long run. You could eat at a non-fast food restaurant quicker than this location could get you through their drive through. If you want slow paced fast food then you've found your destination! read more

Run! Save yourself time and just go to the Buffalo Gap location. I've always had bad luck with this location but figured I'd give it another try. I'm just going to base this entire review off my last visit. I took my nephew there to eat. He got a kids meal and green beans and I got 2 fish and 3 chicken with fries and green beans. They fish was dry and the chicken was as well. The green beans tasted off and within an hour we were both throwing them right back up. Disgusting. The fries were the worst I have ever tasted. Food was just disappointing. The staff.. Oh boy! The two people in the back were taking their time, just talking. They got orders together, slowly because they were talking instead. They were talking loudly, inappropriately. They were hardly working, more like hanging out while putting food (sloppily) onto a plate or basket. The drive thru (or what I assumed was) seemed to be the only one working in the back, as she was going back and forth doing stuff. They all seemed miserable and bland. There was ONE worker there that I truly admire. Although her hoodie (ninja turtles) was a bit unprofessional, my nephew LOVED it. And i ended up spending 10 dollars later to get him one because he had to have one too! She even gave him a high five for liking the ninja turtles. She was so nice and bubbly. Even nice when my nephew took forever to decide what he wanted. When he wanted to play the claw machine to get a ball, I had no money other than 20's, she must of over heard our conversation because (after asking me if it was okay) gave him a dollar out of her own pocket to play) When he lost and was obviously upset about it, she gave him another in quarters so he could get a toy out of the little machine. She went over and beyond and I'm thinking they need more people like her and the drive thru girl since everyone else seems to do nothing and seemed as they were SO miserable.
