Fast food joint but consists of delicious fried sides. We opted for the spicy chicken tenders instead of the regular ones and waited longer for them to be made. Tenders were juicy and crispy and came with a side of rich gravy to dunk them in. Corn nuggets: reminded me of creamed corn dipped in corn dog batter. These were sooo good! I could eat endless corn nuggets. Fried gizzards: gizzards were dipped in what looks like their chicken tenders batter and then fried. If you're a gizzards fan, I recommend trying these. Just got an order delivered and they are having some sort of issue , with the order taking ! However when called store to let know family sized okra was not edible due to be so old was like rubber even tried to heat up still a no go! So no okra, then had an apple pie and cherry pie, apple was fine this is how the cherry pie was see photos! So called girl who answered less than concerned hung up on first call just picked up hung up! Called back again sounded like I was talking to someone Half asleep or having really bad day! Ok so asked to put my name down as they owe me a cherry pie and a family size FRESH OKRA FRESH PIE when I go back again! All I got was an ok I will put name on list sounded like bad luck shleprock! My daughter and I went to the store on turner plz in abilene and ordered the family meal #16 and it was supposed to come with 16 pieces of chicken and 3 family sides and rolls.. we got home and found that we got 1 side of mashed potatoes and 2 rolls and 12 pieces of chicken.. missing alot of my order and when I called the store to talk about it I was hung up on 4x and then finally spoke with someone claiming to be a manager and was extremely rude and said that it wasn't her problem that I didn't get what I ordered and to deal with it since I didn't check my order before I left the store then proceeded to hang up on me again! I'm so irate angry! After that happened I doubt very seriously that I will go back unless someone fixes what happened to me! All three of us were served corn nuggets (full of corn and sweet) instead of hush puppies. The new general manager brought in from the North store to fix this store said their hush puppies now have corn in them. I said no you served us corn nuggets and we would like hush puppies. She brought us an unlabeled large clear plastic bag of Frozen something and said see the hush puppies now have corn in them. There were two other big issues during that visit that convince me that I can take my business to other chicken places that serve what I order and don't annoy me with BS excuses. read more

While I do like the food, cheap and quick counts too! When your in the mood for chicken, Express is one of my favorite places. The new remodel is very nice, but to get to the drinks, you have to walk thru the people standing in line to order. Oh well. I usually get the tenders, then you have to decide on a side. Corn nuggets of course! But this time I got fries and put the serendipity hot seasoned salt on them. Yes, hot seasoned salt. It was so Good! See the picture. Now I have to add it to the gravy too. Their chicken fingers are so juicy and well breaded. Rolls are really good yeast rolls, made on site. Mashed potatoes are great, fries are worthy and to top it off they know how to make white gravy! We ordered a delivery, and there were multiple things that were terrible with this order. First thing: the chicken was extremely salty; I typically don't complain about this, however the chicken strips were so salty they were inedible. The rolls were extremely hard, like they were either over cooked or left out for a long period of time. They also didn't add any of the serendipity sauce that we ordered with it. The order, for the price of the meal? Absolutely disgusting. Don't recommend. Never had such terrible food quality from Chicken Express. Edit: they also tried to blame the delivery on our poor food quality. I'm sorry but our deliverer isn't dipping our chicken strips in salt and over cooking our rolls and stealing our sauce. read more

Has anyone notice the Tea at chicken express lately? We have gotten tea from there in 3 different towns. And it taste line fish water or rusty water. Did they change the tea that they are using now? The chicken was great. The corn nuggets were perfect. Fried okra was very good, along with roll and gravy. However, the speed of the service was as extremely slow. It took 25 minutes AFTER the order was placed. I understand a slowness to some degree. Again, the food was excellent, but the speed of service was poor. read more

The person taking orders was friendly and helpful. I ordered the regular (non-spicy) chicken strip combo meal to go, and I only waited about 1-1/2 min. for my order. Unfortunately, the chicken had absolutely no flavor, and the crust was soggy. The inside of the chicken was also really wet (probably why the crust was soggy). Fries and roll weren't great but they were okay. Perhaps the spicy chicken would have better flavor - or at least some flavor. read more
