This was my first visit to the Ice House. I'm going to call it a brew pub. We were here to try their speciality hamburger for the downtown Burger Brawl. They have 8 to 10 different beers on tap, and however many in cans. They have appetizers, burgers, and sandwiches on the menu. I think a couple of salads too. The burger we tried was called the Peanut Butter Smash. A bacon cheeseburger with peanut butter and house made strawberry jam. It was very good! And the French fries were some of the best I've ever had! The best burger we have tried in the Burger Brawl so far! Whether you need a drink or something to eat, give Ice House a try! read more

Gave them another try! Service was a bit slow initially, which I think is due to the seat yourself atmosphere. Live music! Kitchen closes by 9, so if you're there for food like I am then make sure you make it in time! Tried their burger and fried pickles this time. Their sourdough bun was great, fresh toppings, the pepper jack cheese was perfectly melted on the burger! I'd honestly happily come back and order this! They are a part of a local burger contest, and I can understand why. Loved the Cajun seasoning on the fried pickles. We came here on our way back from a day trip to Cisco. I was craving cheese curds. We ordered their cheese curds, smash burger, jalapeño poppers and kids chicken strips. It was a toss up between the curds and their queso but the waitress recommended the poppers because she wasn't sure the heat level on the queso which I guess varies. The food was decent. It was a good bang for the buck but I wouldn't buy the poppers again because you essentially are paying for $1/popper. Personally, I hated the atmosphere. Just not my preference. I was also perplexed as to why I wasn't offered a high chair at seating and had to wait ten minutes for one. Would I return? Maybe without kids. read more

We ordered chicken strips (kid), smash burger, and a salad. The chicken strips were the standard ones for kids. A little thicker than frozen in the grocery store. The fries were fantastic! Loved them. The burger was juicy, crispy and cooked well. The salad was very basic. It was greens, tomato, and cheese. I'm a vegetarian and that's a bit of a bummer since it didn't have any protein or carbs with it. It tasted fine but you can't really mess up lettuce and tomatoes. We also got the fried pickles- I'd skip them next time- and chips and salsa which was delicious. The salsa is homemade and didn't have much heat to it which is a big plus for me. The only reason they didn't get five stars is because there wasn't really an option for me as a vegetarian other than the basic salad. read more

I love this place! It's such a fun place to have a drink and hang out. The windows open which is such a nice touch especially in the fall. They have adult slushees and the flavors are always changing but they're always good. And they do have "food" and by food I mean things like beef jerky and peanuts and sunflower seeds I believe the menu said which what more can you ask for? Highly recommend. read more

Great new bar! On Saturday, drafts are $2.50. Only a few options for bar snacks, so I recommend drinking here and heading somewhere else to eat. Connected to the Dry Goods store. All draft options are Shiner, almost all bottled/canned beers are Texas brewed. I recommend the Bloody Mary. It's made with cucumber vodka and it's delicious! Made with Tabasco Bloody Mary mix- not super spicy though so ask for extra Tabasco if you like it spicy. Very cute place with limited outdoor seating. read more

While visiting my hometown from Austin, a friend of mine and I decided to check this place out. Only because we left Grain Theory which was just down the street. As soon as we walked in at 10:30, they announce last call. Which was weird. We made our way to the counter to order a drink. The two bartenders never made eye contact as they proceeded ignore us. We waited for at least 5 minutes (which was long considering they weren't busy) and nothing. We ultimately decided to leave since we got the message that we were not welcome. Disgusted with the service. While Abilene is my hometown, I don't miss being treat the way I was Saturday night. Hence why I live in Austin. read more

I want to put 0 stars. I want to out -5 if I'm honest. Don't go here the bartenders are so rude. We went last night to celebrate my best friend getting married. Small group of 5 girls. We had never been, when we walk in we ask a gentleman where to order and he says you just walk up to the bar. We got up there and they told us we can't order standing up because we are stressing out the bartender so one of the bridesmaid sat in the open seat ordered all of our drinks on one ticket. A gentleman came up and stood behind her and ordered standing up. One of the waitresses told us her table in the back was about to get up and leave if we wanted to go sit there. So our group literally goes to the dirty table and sits down. There's a water and an almost empty beer glass sitting on the table. I stacked them, the bust boy came and grabbed them. We got a couple sips into our drinks and then the dirty blonde bartender wearing a tight bun, comes up to the table AND ACCUSED US OF STEALING HER TIP. She said, "was there any cash left on the table" and we said no there was just two glasses and we stacked them and someone came to grab them and she said, "okay so when I go to go watch the cameras, I better not see any of you stealing my money." I'm sorry that you're a shitty person and your previous table didn't leave you a tip and your table now is defined not leaving a tip. I had over 500 dollars stolen from me as a bartender in nashville at kid rocks fish fry during a double shift and I NEVER went around accusing people like that. Honest to god, that was SO embarrassing because she made a scene, and all the tables around were looking at us thinking we are thieves. PLEASE NEXT TIME YOU THINK YOU HAVE A TABLE WHO MIGHT HAVE TAKEN YOUR TIP, WATCH THE CAMERAS FIRST AND HAVE YOUR MANAGER AND THE POLICE DEAL WITH IT. We did not finish our drinks. We paid 40 dollars for those 5 drinks and didn't even drink them because of our experience. The manager was informed and apologized and tried to give us free drinks but we couldn't stand to be in their establishment after being humiliated infront of everyone.
