All the karaoke hosts are absolutely wonderful, they each bring a positive and energetic vibe (ESPECIALLY Charlie!) and it was a great experience for me as a first-timer last year. I love the atmosphere of this place and most of the staff. I have had some really great times here. Honestly feel bad for leaving a bad review, but whoever was the bar attender on Jan 17th needs to start meditating or go to therapy or something. My friend and I ordered beers and my friend started a tab, I payed with cash and took the change back. While I was organizing some of my cash for the tip I asked for some glasses. The bar attender said he's going to need IDs for the glasses since we don't tip. He could clearly see I was getting some money out to put on the bar counter. He also said "go back to Perl street." I honestly didn't understand since my friend started a tab (you tip at the end) and I payed in cash and was in the middle of tipping. Maybe he wanted me to say "keep the change" but I'm not tipping $8 for a $12 drink. Not sure why this guy was acting like this, we didn't argue and we were not rude at all. I understand that tips are important and it's rude not to give them. I really wanted a glass so I tipped the dude $5 more dollars. He would only give me a glass and not my friend. This bar attender is 40+ and acting like a 5 year old. I get it was a tiny bit busy and people have bad days, but we all have jobs. Sometimes you have to push through and be a big boy. This guy has been rude before but nothing like this. Our group probably won't ever be back here again since there are plenty of other bars in Boulder that don't have bar attenders who give off Ebenezer Scrooge vibes. I was surprised to see this place so empty during a Broncos playoff game but after talking to other people I realize it's probably because people don't want to be bullied and surrounded with negitive energy when they are trying to have some drinks and have fun. Building is historic and super fun, great food, good pool tables, friendly bartenders, reasonably priced drinks. Karaoke is corrupt AF. Priority is given to regulars and friends of the KJ. It is not "first come first serve", and the KJ is continuously re-ordering the slips to let friends bypass everyone else and sing several times. Thus, if you're a nobody, you will sit around for 3 hours, keep drinking, and then leave empty handed. Part of the reason it stays so crowded, is because friends/regulars know they can keep getting songs in, even if they sign up at ~1am. If you do not enjoy VIP status at the Outback, I would recommend grabbing your beer and singing in the parking lot. The previous KJ Mark more strictly followed a queue, which made karaoke here more reasonable. Alternatively, there are more fair karaoke places nearby (Louisville, Longmont, Westminster, Edgewater, etc, if able to leave Boulder). I'll keep going to Outback, but sing karaoke elsewhere. read more

I am a regular here, until last night. This place has been a Boulder staple for years. The owner Matt is incredible - however one of his bouncers seems to get off on terrorizing guests. He will remain nameless, however, Matt, you should consider the safety of your establishment and its reputation with this young man working for you. The entire bar was witness to the bouncer (overweight, glasses) stealing a young womans passport and claiming it was not her. AFTER he had already let them in the bar and served them for over two hours. First of all, who uses a fake passport? nobody. The cops came and verified that it was her real passport, the group had to call the police multiple times to verify her identity as the bar staff were unhelpful and turned a blind eye. The bouncer was aggressive, rude, repeatedly followed this woman and her group outside the bar to verbally assault them, and overall gives this place a bad name. I will not be returning until this gentleman, if he can even be called that, still is employed there. Matt, this kid is a liability to your institution and from what I've seen on many occasions apart from this one, he has one hell of a temper and someday it will get this place in trouble. read more

I've been a patron at this bar for almost 20 years. It's like Cheers. Everyone knows one another. The staff is funny and attentive and kind. The drinks are very reasonably priced. Was excited to bring my African friend to watch me sing karaoke and waited over two hours to sing one song. Meanwhile there were others singing multiple right in front of me... when I asked when I would go up Kept getting the run around, then finally was told that people were bribing. This was really disappointing after I had talked up this place as my favorite place in boulder:/ I used to do karaoke there on a regular basis and never had that be an issue before. The old karaoke dj mark would always keep things fair and if he gave good service then he'd get a tip. I Miss him..:/ the dj didn't even make an announcement or anything that you have to pay to play. Well I'll be!!! Where do I start? The lady who run karaoke is awesome. The bouncer?!?! I wish I could curse on here. I'll be damn. Holy $&!?&%!? He is not stable. He ruined our experience by far. He called my butt "too big" because I leaned up against the pool table then proceeded to throw a stool at me and said "sit on it, yeah you're ass you is too fat". Should I say anything else? Wow! What a great experience! The people, the atmosphere, and the whiskey billy wings were phenomenal! Some of the best service I've ever had! I locked eyes with the bartender and it was like he knew exactly what I wanted! Not to mention I'm sure his moustache winked at me to say "you got it bub!" Front of Menu Back of Menu Outback Cheeseburger with American Cheese (shhh, don't tell, it was a "comfort food" moment, with onion rings. Landed here on accident while unexpected car repair being handled at nearby Discount Tire (side-shout out to Carlos!). Anyhow, place looked a little dive bar and, clearly, a cool, local hangout. Everyone there was accommodating and friendly, as in "sure, join us!" Nice! Morgan, the Bartender and my Server, was friendly, nice and efficient. I was relegated to (smoky) but thankfully shaded patio, because had my ESA pup with me and she wasn't allowed inside ~ which was cooler and looked more inviting. While Discount Tire was hooking-up my Toy with some new rubber, I walked over to Outback Saloon for a bite to eat. Bartender Eric recommended the steak sandwich as the best thing on the menu and he said that Magic Matty could make it moo too, so, I said, bring it on! What a delightfully wonderful surprise ~ Fabulous dish, all around. Fresh salad, crispy fries and the most tender steak on a fresh roll with pepper-jack cheese. So freaking good--I ate the whole thing (well, half the fries). The dish was $16 so I'm not really sure how coffee bumped the bill to $23 but I left $30 total--hope Matty gets a bite of that :-) read more

We went to Outback to watch the Nuggets win the NBA championship. What should have been a great evening was almost ruined because of an obnoxious, rude and unprofessional bartender (Matt, I think). He continually yelled at customers, made accusatory remarks over the intercom and was obviously unable to handle doing his job. He may have had a bad day, I don't know, but taking his frustrations out on his customers was totally inappropriate. I know I won't be going back to Outback. There are too many places where I can go where the bartenders are happy and professional. The only reason we stayed that night is because we didn't want to miss the game. Sad. read more

Go there every weekend. Tonight is the last time. Billy was the rudest he has ever been which is saying alot given how arrogant he usually is. We came in behind a younger group. He yells at the three of us to put masks on (as his mask is below his chin) and we are seated (and I was still wearing my mask). I ask him why he's being so rude tonight and he said maybe it's not the place for me. So I left. This was my 23rd wedding anniversary and we were going for some drinks with friends from out of town. Would not recommend, they sell alcohol to minors . Im 19 and they did not ID and they still served me a drink . The bartender was very rude and RACIST! The food was cold when i was served . I suggest this bar goes under investigation for minors being under the influence. I also saw a drug deal in the bathroom which what looked like a sort of a white substance. The staff assaulted us. We were having a wonderful night - my sister and best friend, trying to enjoy some "Friday night karaoke" and pool. A beautiful night, and reunion, which ended abruptly. We were violently groped and verbally abused by staff members. The owner, who we personally spoke with, did not do any diligence in defending our safety at one of the "longest running bars" in Boulder. We played half a game of pool before the same bouncer who let us in, said "you don't look like anyone here", ripped the pool stick from my friends hand, groped her, and started shoving us out of the bar. We had nothing to drink. The staff has been historically problematic. As a Boulder born and raised person, I've avoided returning here. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt, but this is not a safe space for women. Please do not go here if you are trying to have a safe, fun night. There are so many other businesses in Boulder with less barbaric ethics than this monstrosity of a business. read more

This is the quintessential dive bar: pool tables in the back; televisions everywhere, all tuned to sports; axe throwing; great bartenders (Matt, Billy, Bri!); typical bar food; a friendly atmosphere (a woman can go there alone and feel comfortable); and karaoke on Wednesdays (Skot!), Fridays (Nate!), and Saturdays (Mark!). Prices are more than reasonable, especially for Boulder. Just don't order the wine. This is a beer and shots place, no blenders, no little umbrellas. Order what they're good at and you will enjoy yourself. The best thing (IMO) is the karaoke. Not only is there a wide selection of music, there are a lot of really great singers (many regulars who you can hear from week to week), and everyone is supportive of the performers, no matter their level of vocal talent. There are nights when you will get to sing twice, occasionally three times, but there are more nights when the line is really long and if you are lucky you will get a second chance if you stay past 12:30. It's worth it. People dance during the dance-able songs, people ding along to most everything, and people cheer each other on no matter what. Its a friendly atmosphere any time you're there. The crowd ranges from college kids to retirement and everyone is happy to see each other. Also known as a LGBTQ-friendly location - not the case for all dive/sports bars, so good to know. read more

Dirty...and I live in San Francisco - so when I say, dirty. I mean, dirty. The place is filthy. The bartender, Cara, may have been having a bad night but I was a bartender for 12 years and never acted like that. No smiles, no thank you's, totally passive and at some points rude. May have been tired from St. Patrick's Day but wow, I have never not wanted to tip and if you check my Yelp review history I don't have many 1 star reviews. She was also eating pizza and not washing her hands while serving drinks. I asked her for a pint glass and she gave me a soaking wet, hot glass with soap suds on it. The people in the bar were WAY too drunk and she kept serving them. They were beyond service point obviously way before I got there. Some guy we met there that we didn't even know broke her coffee pot and she yelled at us to go drink somewhere else - we didn't even know this guy and she assumed we were with him. Bathrooms had diarrhea in pretty much every stall. If my friends wanted to go there again I would complain and fight and scream and probably stay in the car. read more

Been coming to OB for the better part of a year now, and I can say with utmost sincerity that it is my favorite bar in town. The bartenders are quick and accommodating, lots of interesting/colorful people who frequent the joint, the food is hot and the drink is cold. The bitter resentment that some people hold against this bar is beyond me. These guys and gals work their asses off. Wear your masks people. It's a city mandate, and there's nothing more childish than the grown adults who throw a hissy fit when they are asked to put them on. Grow up, everyone else is doing it, and it takes two seconds of vague muscle-memory to abide by this mandate. If you're new in town, and looking for a good time, I would recommend this spot. Whether is Karaoke, axe-throwing, billiards, or simply taking a load off after a long day at work, this is the spot. read more

I do not leave reviews on bars, but do not go here. My girlfriends manager had too much to drink and I told her to go to the bathroom because she wasn't feeling well and sent my girlfriend in to help her out. Little did I know after she went into the bathroom, the owner of the bar followed them in there after about 10 min and accused them of doing blow and kicked them out and said they were going to kick the rest of us out while I and my other friends were sitting at the bar with no idea what was going on . Not only did they not kick us out but I found out from my buddy's wife that this had gone down but continued to allow our party of 10 to continue without even mentioning anything had happened even though we had been there at least 2 hours prior. One of the bartenders was cool but the other guy who I learned from people outside was the owner whom I happened to notice while we were there was condescending the entire time while we were there. I tried to talk to the bouncer and he said without any question he would not let them back in. Apparently the bouncer or the owner threw her wallet which she had left in the bathroom into the parking lot while we were asking people going into the bar to look for her stuff. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR. If you doubt this review, I will have a reputable boulder company staff who has been in business in for 29 years who was a witness will confirm this occurrence. I love this place ! it's a huge, no-frills establishment, so leave your snobbery at the door or just don't visit at all. i sat at the lower level from the bar, watching one of the World Series games with the SF Giants. i watched it on a 70"+ TV. fun couch seating on the other side of the bar with a large TV as well. patio seating outside, mostly used by smokers when i was there. Tina did a great job of keeping my water and beer glasses filled. i had the chicken fingers - hand breaded, very crispy - and the waffle fries. i will definitely visit this place again ! read more

I wish I could give this bar zero stars. I have never been treated so poorly or with more disrespect. The woman bartender working Thursday night 05/27 shouldn't be employed. After 15 minutes of sitting at an empty bar, she came & took our order. After I ordered drinks (for 6), she tells me she needs everyone's ID in order to serve the party. Get that. Collected the IDs and said the order again. Now she says she needs everyone to come to the bar & order their drinks...everyone is over 40 yrs old including a 92 yr old. After everyone made it to the bar, she refused to take our order much less acknowledge us. We said we were leaving and she started screaming at us saying they were busy. No one was at the bar. Outback seems to go through phases. Overall it's a pretty standard divey-ish bar (it's slightly too costly and lacking some ambiance you might get in other dive establishments). The beer is clean and they seem to be clearing the lines for the taps well these days, whereas they may have fallen down a bit in the past. They're clean and the food seems to have improved as well. The other night over some beers a buddy got a burger and fries and was satiated by the burger, but the fries were pretty damn tasty. They do have free popcorn that isn't horrible and is a nice touch as free bar snacks have fallen out of style. It does have pretty decent pool tables, but I'd recommend bringing your own cue (as with most establishments) I think they have around 8 tables and hold tournaments weekly I believe. The service has always been friendly and as prompt as possible with how busy it can get on the weekends. They have quite the variety of performers on their karaoke nights, and I must admit to being both entertained and horrified (sometimes both at once!). HH wasn't spectacular, but the pricing isn't over the top anyways ($5 for most craft beers) and they have a good selection. They do a good job of keeping local beer and booze flowing.
