The Attic in Boulder is legendary amount everyone but especially CU students. Our boy is graduating today so we will probably have fewer long nights of Fat Alberts . It's just your classic college town dive bar that has all the makings of getting it cranked up as quickly as possible. They're famous for their Fat Albert drink which is some vodka concoction with vodka and purple Gatorade and other stuff I'm just not sure. But it's damn tasty and we've had more than we can count in the last four years. The Attic is a must whenever visiting Boulder if you're in for friendly peeps and good times. Go check em out. I've always loved The Attic, it's one of Boulder's best. But. They used to have the Best Burgers Ever. I went today, and now what used to be cooked to temp juicy deliciousness has been kicked to the curb for build your own smash burgers. Any temperature you want, as long as it is super well done. This bar and billiards spot is the place to watch a high-stakes game. My friend and I were here on Saturday. We felt the energy as our team made a dramatic comeback to win the game by one point. The bartender kept us going with water refills and drink refills throughout the game. I didn't have any food, but some of the pictures I see on Yelp are worth trying out. read more

The people that work here at night are always on a high hours and they will literally belittle you!!! Do not come here unless you want to be talked to like a child! I have come here on multiple occasions with a real ID and have not been let in, on top of getting the police involved. Super rude and have never been treated this way. Unacceptable. read more

the attic would be a better bar if the bouncer was an empty can of beans. Bouncer thought he was the shit and was absolutely right about my New York state id being fake, so he brought out his expired ID book given to him 5 years ago from the cops. If he actually looked on the id, he would have seen an issue date being 2022, a year where they changed the enhanced ID for New York. After arguing with him for some time at the bar (he let me in originally) he 'let me off tonight' as if I did anything wrong. Attic, please get a ID scanner so you don't rely on bouncers who's egos make it almost impossible to enjoy your bar. read more

I go here often, and love it, however last night at the attic I was disappointed in their service. I bought one beer and tipped a dollar, making the total $7. However after looking at my bank records this morning, the tip was magically changed from $1 to $10. Needless to say, nobody in their right mind would tip $10 on a $6 beer. This is theft. Waited in line for a quite a while to enter, but was turned away by the bouncer despite because they didn't want to accept my legitimate Colorado digital ID without a bribe. [Solid 2.5 Stars] Nothing much to say, since our visit was no more than 10 minutes. We attended my brother in-law's musical show in Boulder, &decided to grab a drink in town before heading back to Denver. We found The Attic, via Yelp. The Attic is located on the second story; up a couple flights of stairs and you turn left that's the bar, if you turn right- that's the game room area. As my husband began walking towards the bar- he was abruptly stopped by who looked like to be the "ID checker" guy, but I totally didn't like how he basically bumrushed my hubby just to check ID's. He was kinda rude too. He went as far as to bust out his black light "fake ID" scanner...like really dude, really? I don't usually get annoyed when I get carded (it's actually flattering, lol) but this guy approached us all weird. Not welcoming at all. We found a table along the side. The hubby purchased our shots and then we were on our way out. The crowd on a Saturday night was kinda lame. Total sausage fest, with not so friendly people. The music playing overhead, wasn't my cup of tea... I'm sure this place can and has potential to be fun, so we might have came in on an off day while everyone was out of town for Easter? Would I return to this bar? My husband and I stopped in Boulder CO on a road trip home during the Corona Virus and got to a Marriott hotel. We just drove 11 hours and were starving. Im writing this review about the attic because I had a bad experience last night. I usually have fun at the attic because its a lively college bar. However, one night I was playing pool minding my own business and went to go get a drink and for some reason the bar tender said I was cut off. I literally did nothing that would indicate I needed to be cut off from the bar so I was pretty upset about that. I then asked my friend if he could go get us some drinks because for some idiotic reason I was no longer aloud to buy drinks. Then as soon as my friend handed me the drink an extremely arrogant and rude bouncer snatches it from me and tells me and my friend we have to leave. I believe he said his name was Michael, but he is the fattest one there so if he was lying, which he probably was, its easy to tell who he is and he also had a patchy beard. He then kicked us out without giving us a valid reason why. I know this because we asked him 10 times what the reason for kicking us out was and he couldn't give an answer because he's probably delusional and wanted to go on a power trip that night. We were here two weeks ago with some friends. A customer was causing a scene when we realized the "customer" was someone we had met a few days earlier. One of our friends went over to help remove the customer causing a scene and took him out of the bar. We returned to the bar a few days later when our friend (the one who removed the customer causing a scene) called us from outside the bar and told us security grabbed him by his arm and removed him from the bar after paying for his drink and tipping the server and not allowed to drink his drink. He told us security told him he was the one causing a scene a few days earlier. The friend who was removed is Black/Hispanic and the customer who caused the scene is white. Our Black/Hispanic friend was the only person of color in the entire bar and we found it interesting that he was the only person removed, but not the customer who caused the scene a few days earlier who happened to be in the bar the night our friend was removed. We felt bad for our friend who was removed so we all left. A few of us returned a couple days later to speak with ownership about the incident, but the owner was not there. We ended up speaking with the bartender who told our Black/Hispanic friend that he was "probably thrown out because he was being an asshole" and told us "to get the fuck out". He was serving some food and we tried getting out of his way, but ended up getting accidently in his way and he shoved us. We called the police as it began getting a bit heated when some drunk white customers saw what happened and tried to fight us. One of the police officers who was black told us, "Hey, there are some places I don't go because I'm not welcome there." We got the message and thanked the officers for their time. We left with the impression that The Attic Bar is not a place where people of color or gays are welcome. Went here to watch the Badger football game in early September. We didn't get any food so don't have much advice in that department but the beer was relatively cheap for a Friday night! I got a pint of PBR for $3.50 and my friends got Avery Beer for about $5 (all were super cold and fresh!). Service was great-our waitress was very attentive and offered to split our checks! Highly recommend that any Wisconsin fan or native visit this spot while in Boulder. They show all the Wisconsin Badger football games and GB Packer games (which get very crowded) so if you can only get there late-expect it to be mostly standing room only. Will definitely be trying the cheese curds on my next visit to compare to those I had in WI! read more

Our experience here started out well, but then after seeing a hair in our drink & bringing it to the bartenders attention, her response was "I don't give a s***" I've worked in the restaurant industry my whole life and have never once told a PAYING customer that. I get it, s*** happens and hair has a mind of it's own but that's no reason to get mad at a customer for calling you out, and her hair was down (should be up in a pony tail). Our groups tab was over $100 and for her to respond like that was completely uncalled for. The management of this place should really teach their employees customer service expectations. We came across this place by accident and I am glad we did. We were looking for a bite to eat and a place to watch a game. We grabbed a table right at the front of the bar in front of the giant screen. Our server recommended a few items and we each ordered one. I came to this place on a recommendation from a friend. I walked in and stood for 10 minutes before I found a person flying by that I could ask how to get service. I asked him "How do I get serviced? I'm new from out of town and want to eat. Do I sit here or do you seat me?" His response was: oh you can do whatever you want to do. Then he put his headphones in and turned around and walked away. I looked around and saw EVERYONE eating food and having drinks. It was 6:30p. How could the kitchen be closed. Then she suggested I go down to a taco place down the street for some "cheap tacos." I don't know if it was because I was tall, a male, or BLACK... but yeah... this actually happened. I do not recommend this place to out of towners like me. This place. Wow. It's a gem. The beer specials are a steal. I had the corn and jalapeño chowder and it was phenomenal (bartender's recommendation.) Bar tender was nice and welcoming, but I was approached by another individual (who I can only assume was the owner of the bar) about my choice in music from the Jukebox and asked me to switch my music to a different genre that I have no in depth knowledge about. I am a bar enthusiast in boulder, and an environmental activist. I am shocked by the horrors at the attic bar tonight. I would not be surprised if they fart methane. My sister went to get a glass of water, and they put a straw in her water glass. I am insulted by the lack of the carelessness. They provided unsolicited plastic to her without asking if she wants to save the turtles. I am devastated by the amount of Colorado mountain turtles that have been killed by their decision. We have visited The Attic dozens of times since we moved here almost 2 years ago. It's always been top-notch food and service. Today we ordered from Door Dash. We ordered an Attic and chicken cheesesteak. I have no idea what was in the chicken cheesesteak, but it definitely wasn't chicken. It was brown like beef but didn't taste beef or chicken. The Attic sandwich was beyond dry. Now I know why I've never ordered it before. Also the food didn't arrive very warm. Steak Fries- Also limp due to having no holes in packages, but really good otherwise Ribs- Has a charboiled taste, VERY tender Cheesesteak- Reminds me of the kind of cheesesteaks served in NJ diners. I asked the very attentive waitress if she could substitute the cheese curds instead of the fries.. Hmm. I said "yes you can" and she made it happen. Excellent answer! Both exceptionally good!
