This is a tough place to review... the food is good. However, the last few times I've have dined in (before or after a movie) my tables order has come out wrong OR we had to wait well over an hour for the food to come out. Then, when asking when the pizzas would be ready or stating that something is missing, the staff makes us feel like it's our fault. This has happened multiple times unfortunately, so I believe if you desperately want an ottos pizza, pickup is the way to go. read more

If you have been reading my reviews then you already understand that I love pizza, all kinds. Otto's in Saco is connected to the Cinemagic Movie Theater and offers many different types of pizzas. This evening I ppurchased a three cheese delight and picked it up. The parking lot was full with lots of movie enthusiasts, however I managed to find a parking spot close to the entrance. My pizza was ready upon my arrival, I was shown it and then I was on my way. The pizza over all was excellent, however was cold when I got it home. Not sure if I was late picking it up or it was prepared quickly. Anyway, it was nothing a shot of the mocrowave couldn't fix. My top issue really is the price point. I am thinking that $22 for a large pizza is a bit on the expensive side. So, Otto's offees a great pizza, however it becomes a "once in a while" pizza spot to go to verses my regular place to go. One of my favorite pizza places to go. Thin crispy crust with the corn meal on the bottom with no flop in the slice picking them up. Light cheese and light spotted sauce. You know a good pizza when you see bubbles. Got a large "gold standard" cheese and wanted a small pineapple and ham but no ham got bacon but not sure why that one was spicy(it was good tho) they have great fries but didn't have any the other day so got cheese bread stick, so good. I continue to order from here occasionally hoping the next time will be better, but it isn't. I am consistently disappointed, especially when paying $60 for 3 pizzas (1 specialty, 2 cheese - all larges.) This most recent visit, on 10/7/22, I arrived to pick up my order within the pick-up window timeframe their app provided and no one was around. I rounded the corner and waited a moment before interrupting 2 staff members who were talking at the bar. I informed then that I was picking up an order to go. There was a rather large metal appliance keeping pizzas warm at that corner. One staff member came over and found my order for me but there was signage that appeared to direct customers that this was the to-go pick-up area ( i.e. find your order, take it and go.) If that is the case, please add a disclaimer online that this is how you pick up your order now. If it isn't, you should place signage inside directing customers to find a staff member for assistance. The pizza is nowhere near the quality I've come to expect from dining in the restaurant when you get it home. The pizza is barely warm when you get home (5-7 minutes away) and the crust is tough and chewy. The warming station does not maintain a temp to allow the pizza to remain fresh and enjoyable for to-go orders. I did complete a survey that they emailed to me asking about my experience. My friend and I ate at Otto's in Portland Maine several months ago and it was far and away one of the best pizzas I've ever had! The crust was thin and light, sauce and toppings were perfect! The service was second to none and the atmosphere was relaxing and fun. I live further south now, but always enjoy going to the Saco Ottos. This is our favorite pizza go-to when quarantining during the Covid pandemic. Actually, last year they were our favorite as well . The flavor combos are out of this world, with our personal favorites being the butternut squash, siracha chicken, and fresh mushroom and pepperoni. We highly recommend this delivery restaurant. I am writing this review after a horrible experience visiting Otto this evening before seeing a movie. We arrived at 6:03 and gave our name to a person with a clipboard who didn't even acknowledge us when we entered (other waiting customers had to point to her as the person we needed to give our name to in order to be seated). She wrote down my name and took my phone number, saying it was going to be a 20 minute wait. We waited outside on the bench for about 15 minutes but it was hot, so we came in the door to stand to the side and noticed people after us being seated. The person with the clipboard, didn't even have a clipboard any more and was just standing behind the counter where the pizza by the slices were. Two people who were seated before us (even though they arrived after us) ended up choosing to sit at the bar, so we asked if we could sit at a table for 2 by the bar that they were originally going to sit in. When we sat down (6:20), it took 23 minutes to be acknowledged at our table by anyone. Finally the bartender, who was behind the bar, said she would be right with us. Although, while sitting there for 23 minutes (6:43), she had no problem serving beverages to 3 people who just walked in and were waiting on the side for a table. After another few minutes the bartender walks by and says she will be right back to take our order. 30 minutes after sitting down (6:50), she finally came over and asked us for our drink order. We stated that we would like to put our whole order in, as we are going to a movie. When we ordered one of our drinks, she wasn't able to make it because she didn't have orange juice. We ended up having to order pizza by the slice (the prepared ones) because we were not able to wait for a pizza to be cooked, it would take too long otherwise. The bartender apologized for the wait and mumbled something about being short staffed. They didn't seem to be short staffed with 3 servers at the take out section just chit chatting. People at the walk-in counter were getting food before us. There seemed to be plenty of people to support the amount of people in the place: 3 tables (one outside, two tables inside), one two-seater like ours, us, and 10 people at the bar. After placing our order (6:50), it took ten minutes for the first drink to be delivered (7:00). The bartender came with one drink & apologized for the wait. Several minutes later the second drink came (7:06). Then she heated our pizza slices after the second drink was delivered. It took only 2 minutes for her to come with the slices. The pizza slices were warm, lukewarm. Sadly I didn't get to enjoy it as much as I would have liked to because the pizza was delicious but I had to eat it so fast since we were trying to get to the movie. When she delivered the pizza, I asked for the bill. We left at 7:18. Some might read this review and say "well you should have planned for more time". We arrived in plenty of time to eat at a pizza place and get to a movie...we had an hour and a half, even if we needed to wait. It is not a fine dining dinner that would take more than an hour. We had so much time sitting there that I was able to sit and log how long things took. The service was horrendously slow! We were very disappointed and would probably be choosing a different location for a meal before a movie next time. It's too bad that they were not more efficient in their service, as we noticed many people were upset about the wait and left. Otto makes a good pizza and I definitely want to go back and try a few different kinds, but Biddeford/Saco is a tough area to open a new place. The thing that really works in their favor is that it's enough of a restaurant that you can eat there and like the space you're in. Most of the local places are really designed for take out, but Otto and Portland Pie both encourage you to stay. The weird thing is that the main entrance is inside the movie theater but it's not hard to get used to. I'll definitely go back but Coletti's is much closer to home for me, so it might take a little while. read more

Delicious Attention To Detail! Let's talk about meatball sliders, for example. These tiny (4 bite?) buns include a single tender meatball, are topped with a chiffonade of basil, melted cheese, and the nice touch is that the bun is (buttered?) toasted / grilled on a flattop. So it all comes together in a special way, and it only comes together that way because somebody in the back of the house is taking care of details. And the pizza? The thin crust is as remarkable on the underside as the pizza is beautiful on the top. My spicy pulled pork featured little islands (maybe 2 or 3 per slice) with spicy sauce and a bit of pulled pork. It's not overwhelming, it's overwhelmingly interesting to eat! Some bites are just tasty crunchy pizza, and the bites of spicy sauce and pork punctuate the experience. Again, the lazy thing to do would have been to ladle spicy sauce across the whole pie ... instead, this version is a delight. It's expensive, as good things can be. But the food quality and preparation makes Otto's a very good value. read more

Still all the great combinations you have come to know and love from Otto's pizza: bacon and potatoes, squash, sriracha but now right next door to the area's only IMAX theatre! The space is open and airy with plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. They are currently only doing dine in and takeout, but plan to start delivery soon! In the meantime Saco has a super convenient location with plenty of parking for very good pizza and a fantastic new spot for date night! read more

Otto in Saco! So awesome. The Everything Knots were seasoned with garlic, poppyseeds, etc. great flavor, but the marinara sauce that accompanied them was not a great flavor match. The sauce tastes homemade and is fairly acidic, but it washed out all the seasoning in the knots. We split the Habanero Mango Cauliflower pizza. Loved the cauliflower! Still had a good crunch to it and provided texture. The habanero seasoning was well done and the pineapple salsa was good. Would love to see fresh pineapple in the salsa, but certainly not a deal breaker. The missing star is for the mangy bathroom. The floor needed mopping and the sink was looking like it had been cleaned...a few days ago. With as many staff on as I saw, this could have been attended too. read more

Came up to OOB for a long weekend getaway and wanted a quick dinner the first night we drove up from CT (i.e. - I know good pizza... New Haven pizza, NY pizza..etc) Order was ready in about 25 minutes for pick up..WOW - hands down one of the best pizzas I've had IN MY LIFE. The squash, ricotta and cranberry is where it's at. I love all three of these things separately, but together, on a pizza? **Swoon** This is as good as it gets. My husband got the spicy pulled pork and scallions pie; of course I had to try that too, and it was equally as delicious. Was in the area vacationing, and wanted a take-out pizza to go. After looking at several pizza places, and decided on Otto's. We were not disappointed. It was a good thin crust pizza. It wasn't overcooked (some thin crusts get too blackened for my wife and I), and the pepperoni and green peppers and onions were just right...especially the veggies; cooked but not overcooked. Beautiful site, convenient to post movie meal. However I have numerous complaints. The service was incredibly slow, especially with very few customers in the store. I ordered a small Caesar and while it was huge there was more dressing than lettuce...the dressing was also very tart. I also ordered a Detroit deep dish cheese pizza, small again. It was huge but burned to a crisp. It took some digging to get to soft dough. I expressed my concern to the waitress who blew it off to being melted cheese. I brought the remaining pieces home (I only got part of one piece eaten) to see if maybe microwaving it would soften it a bit. Nope. I called the Yarmouth Otto as they have always been reliable and delicious. I needed the phone # as it is nowhere to be found on Google. She was most helpful but the number she had was generic and did not identify as an OTTO phone #. I have always had high ratings for OTTO, but tonight changed and I'm not sure what happened. Our usual fantastic service was very slow. We never had a drink order taken, had to wait quite a while for the waitress to come back for a food and drink order. Apps: meatballs and an order of knots and two Caesar salads. They were out of knots. Drinks: out of soda. Pizza- out of basil so no margherita pizza. Once the order was placed we were then told they were out of meatballs. We were happy with the cheese pizza and mashed potato pizza. Luckily the food quality of what we were able to get was still good. Very disappointing that they were out of so much. All other locations are great but just had second bad experience with Saco. Ordered a large cheese to go for about $17. I was told 20 minutes and got there in about 15. I live 3 miles from this location. Got home with pizza and it was stone cold. It seemed like it was made an hour ago and left under a heat lamp. First bad experience was same with slices.
