Meatball sub not worth the wait
    Tasia D.

This is one of the most disgusting restaurants I've ever been in. Wow!! First thing I noticed upon entering the restaurant is the open kitchen to my left. Just as I was about to think how cool that was. I see a sweaty man sleeping on what seemed to be a prep table in the middle of lunch service. I thought it was a joke. I sat myself towards the end of the bar, where someone had had a jug out marked "chocolate milk" with the date crossed off. It was dated October 16 or 18th, I couldn't quite make it out. Whether it's been rinsed out or just continuously had new milk poured into it, that is revolting. There was one person working, running around as best she could. You could see her continuing to take orders back to the kitchen window (where I saw the man sleeping on the table). It seemed to be a common problem of them sending out food to a table but not sending out everyone's food. I ordered a meatball sandwich and it took 53min, my boyfriend ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, it came out 10 minutes after they brought me my food. WE WERE ON THE SAME CHECK! The Parmesan cheese shakers had what looked like bugs inside of them. When did they even clean anything in this place? These people are poorly trained, and no one seems to care about anything. I figured out towards the end of my visit that the manager was sitting in the bar area at a high top on his computer the entire time watching this place fall apart. I've never seen anything so unprofessional in my life. The reason I figured out that the manager was sitting there was because the girl asked him for help, and she asked him for help three more times before I left, and he never moved from his spot. This place could be mine, but not with untrained staff and manager who can't get off his social media to help the business.

I needed some comfort food and I needed it pretty quickly. I stopped into the fish store next-door, but it just was not hitting my sweet spot. So I went over to Butanos, sat down at the bar and Tia, behind the bar, made some great suggestions which just turned my evening around to be so much better . My food of choice was a shrimp linguine - rich with cream sauce and a nice beer with the pumpkin spice rim. Tia was encouraging and very friendly. The atmosphere was comfortable and (even though it was just sports commentators on the TVs which I didn't even watch) I was enjoying myself and I left in a much better mood ... with a belly full of delicious food. And a happy smile from Tia.

So.... I want to love this place, because it's local and I live pretty close by. I actually can't even remember the flavor of the food, because the service was soooooo bad. The pictures look good though. I could see my wings in the pickup window for 15 minutes and then when they came to the table they were wrong. We ordered wings (got boneless, wanted traditional), and 3 individual pizzas. They were busy, but our server seemed super distracted by takeout orders instead of her tables.

The pizza was so good. Great thin crust with a nice crunch. The house wings with peanut Thai chili sauce were out of this world. Our bartender was awesome! He took good care of us. Engaged in conversation. The inside is nicely decorated. The used nice detailed to honor the firehouse it use to be.

We went there for take out due to a recommendation and were disappointed. The bottom of the pizza was burnt and dominated the flavor to where I couldn't eat it. I called and let them know and they mentioned the manager would call me back and they never did. Two stars is generous! Wouldn't go back.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Buranos! We are so friggin' stoked you're here, seriously. We have been lacking in the pizza-department for far too long. When we saw a pizza shop was opening we had the highest hopes - and boy did those hopes come to fruition! We stopped in on Dec 30th, our boss took us to lunch. The place was poppin' at 12:30 on a Thursday! I always go with a classic on my first visit, so an 8" margherita it was - it did NOT disappoint. Ingredients were clean and simple, exactly what you want on a margherita: tomato sauce, dollops of mozzerella and fresh basil leaves on a light, chewy dough. Eff yes. My boss got the Muffeletta which looked incredible and his wife tried to steal. Said wife got the buffalo pizza and she said it was 'okay' but she continued to eat the Muffeletta. My coworker got the Hawaiian Bleu and loved it. She pulled the cherry peppers off and mentioned they were making her nose run, but said she would definitely order it again. The owner was our server, he was an absolute delight. We talked with him about the other two locations, the business name and how he was being received here in Scarborough. We're so happy to have Burano's here. ...so happy in fact that my husband and I came back the following evening (New Year's Eve) for more and brought my parents! On that trip, we tried more! We got the 12" Margherita and it was sheer perfection. Additionally we got a 12" Pear d'Carter (sliced pears, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions, arugula and a balsamic drizzle, HIGHLY RECOMMEND), the buffalo tenders (loved them!) and my dad got a Caesar salad which he didn't enjoy - he said something was 'off' with the dressing - what I tasted was a hefty mustard flavor...made me think that this could possibly be a fresh-made dressing, and my dad is used to Ken's. The price was higher than expected - an 8" margherita was $13.95 and I put that bad-boy down by myself, no problems. I guess that's expected for Scarborough? Also - let me just say that I adore the decor. They kept with the fire-station feel - exposed brick, ladders, lamps and axes - even fire hydrants on the beer taps. Love this place. All this to answer the question: Would I come back? Well yeah, silly - I already have, and I'm considering it for dinner tonight. :)

Ratatouille pizza made with vegan cheese and a custom mocktail

I really appreciate that they offer vegan cheese. I enjoyed the food, but what really made the experience was the server, Tia. She is personable, funny, and helpful. A delightful person. I took her recommendation, getting the Ratatouille pizza with vegan cheese. I also enjoyed her custom mocktail.

Really enjoyed Burano's! The interior is filled with small wooden picnic tables to seat yourself. As you walk to your table you pass an open window view into the kitchen, where you can catch a glimpse of the star of the show- the wood fire grill. It only took a few seconds before my sister and I were greeted and asked what we'd like to drink. When our waiter returned we ordered some "specialty wings". These had a sauce combo I've never tried: peanut butter sweet thai chili , topped with bacon. They did not disappoint. The bacon didn't really stay on the wings but it was still yummy to eat, dipped in the sauce afterwards. One thing I noticed about Burano's, is they aren't afraid to stray from "traditional" toppings. The pizza combinations are endless here. They have some already prepared concoctions, or you can choose to build your own. I went with the Pear D'Carter 12 inch (garlic ricotta cream base, mozzerella, caramelized onions, mushrooms, topped with arugula and drizzled balsamic glaze). I'm a huge fan or using different sauces at the base of a pizza and this combo was fantastic. Sometimes it's hard to cook a pizza evenly with a wood fire grill, especially when it's packed with toppings. Burano's absolutely nailed it. I'd say it's a thin crust, but rugged enough so that when you pick up your slice, it's not flopping, causing the toppings to slide. I can't wait to go back and try more of the menu!

Very different from Greek, New York and New Haven style pizza. Deliciously different from what we usually get in Portland. We ordered online but ate in the restaurant. The service was very good, friendly and knowledgeable. We had the Margarita pie and the Sausage and Broccoli Rabe pie. My husband is a pizza snob and he LOVED the broccoli rabe pie. Both pizzas were cooked perfectly with generous amounts of cheese. The margarita pie had just the right amount of basil. But the star of the show for us was the sausage/broccoli pie! We had never had broccoli rabe on a pie before. The broccoli rabe was tender, well seasoned, and had a floral note to it, the crust was chewy with just the right amount of char and the sauce added just the right acidity. The only thing we felt was lacking (slightly) was the sausage. It was so mild that you almost couldn't taste it. It was cooked well and no gristle at all - just lacking that sausage flavor that you expect when you order sausage on your pizza. Regardless we would and WILL order it again. We will definitely be back and strongly recommend Coletti's if you are in the area. If Coletti's is looking to expand - please come to Portland!

However, we went this past Sunday at 6:20 pm ( they close at 7:30 pm ), Restsurant was about 1/4 full. The server took our order immediately, and we waited and waited- salads nor wings appetizers did not come. The server came by our table and apologized for the delay. In the meantime, staff were hustling to clean the Restsurant: refilling and removing items from the tables, brought a big yellow mopping bucket out, and so forth . It really put a damper on the atmosphere of trying to have a nice meal out. In addition, there was only one other couple in the facility and we were still waiting for our order. Our Cesar salads finally came, with apologies for delays, then the personal pizzas came about 10 minutes after. We waited to catch the server and ask about our wings appetizer; she said it would be just a couple of minutes and again apologized. Meanwhile, we finished our meal. The server came by and stated she would take $10 off the bill. Then, wings arrived, we had them boxed up. Overall, cleaning and restocking with customers in a restaurant put a big damper on the atmosphere of our meal along with the huge delays. I shared my honest feedback with the server as we were leaving, she provided empty promises of better service in the future. We are not so sure we would return or recommend this restaurant again; obviously not the same atmosphere as the first few visits.
