Great food, cocktails, desserts and nice atmosphere. Always a great meal here. Friendly staff as well.

Casa Novello is a great local spot in Westbrook. There is plenty of street parking and is within walking distance to a ton of places as it is on Main Street. Casa Novello is a cozy but upscale Italian restaurant. I was able to make a reservation online the day before. We were seated immediately upon arrival. Tables were all pre set up with plates, silverware, and menus. We were greeted quickly by our server who was friendly and attentive. Bar drinks took the longest to come out but were delicious. The espresso martini was perfect. Our food came out super quickly - like so fast. Everything was amazing and so delicious. We got the hot honey ricotta dip with house made focaccia. It was smooth, creamy, and perfect. The house made focaccia was utterly delicious. Peppery crust and soft inside. For entrees, we got the chicken piccata with penne and the linguine with meatballs. The chicken piccata was lemony, creamy, and fresh. The linguine with meatballs was awesome and the sauce was very tasty. It was pretty noisy in the restaurant as tables as close to each other. We did have to speak up to be able to hear each other. We were in and out within an hour with the speedy service. I almost wished our food took a little longer to come out to space out the appetizer and entrees. Overall, it's a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, great service, and an authentic Italian feel. I would definitely recommend Casa Novello!

What a bummer. Mom's been dying to try this place so we brought her for her birthday. The place is so stinkin' cute. Little lights and bud vases with fresh flowers, hardwood floors - adorable! There's plenty to choose from on the menu, not all strictly Italian, either. We started with the fried calamari which was tasteless except for the pool of balsamic it sat in, leaving the crispy bits sopping wet. There were two plates of chicken parm which were decent - the chicken was a delight - the sauce itself tasted like mainly paste. Mom got the ravioli, which were light and pillowy - but again covered in thick tomato paste. I ordered the chicken piccata, the flavor was great - chicken was tough, and the sauce itself was thick like an American Alfredo. It's a shame, because the service was great - friendly, very attentive and eager to make for a great experience. The bread was outstanding, honestly. Flavorful and soft with a crisp crust - highly recommend. We're glad we marked this spot off the list, but we won't be back.

Food is so good, my favorite one is the fish chowder. I really enjoy the environment, people are nice and friendly. The price is decent in comparison to the food and service one can get. Highly recommended this local restaurant!

My family and I had the pleasure of trying this restaurant last evening. This was our first time here. My family is VERY picky about Italian food so I make sure to do a lot of research before picking a place. The reviews of this restaurant looked great so we decided to try it. Let me tell you- the reviews were right. We started off by getting the Mike's hot honey ricotta dip. It was served with focaccia bread and was light and so flavorful. My dad got the chicken parm, my mom got the veal marsala, and I got the chicken florentine. Each of us agreed that our dishes were cooked perfectly and were full of flavor. The portions are very generous as well- you get what you pay for. The ambiance was also wonderful- a quaint restaurant with the perfect amount of lighting- not too dim, not too bright. Our waitress was also very attentive and polite. We are so happy we found this place and will definitely be back!

Veal Parmesan with Angel Hair Pasta

We had a lovely dinner. The appetizer of ricotta with hot honey and focaccia was quite good and a little unique. I had amazing scallop marsala, and my husband had his old standby, Veal Parmesan. Both dishes were well prepared and quite tasty. We would go back. Our server was delightful. Everyone was very friendly. The food was delicious. The Crème Brûlée was perfect.

Via Vecchia was definitely worth the wait, and this was one of the most surprising restaurants during our trip. We ordered the brussel sprouts, grilled octopus, campanelle, and radiatori. The brussel sprouts was the one dish that I was most hesitant about, seeing that it was paired with a blueberry agrodolce. Not a typical combination, but this ended up being a favorite. The sweetness & tartness of the sauce worked SO well with the sprouts - it's an excellent dish. The octopus had the perfect char, and all of the flavor pairings were really cohesive. I had never heard of either of the pastas, but I loved the textures of both. The campanelle with nduja cream was delicious, but did get to be a little heavy about halfway through. Radiatori with bolognese was a classic but well executed dish. Service is attentive without being overbearing. Prices are super reasonable.

They didn't offer Parmesan and I felt our food looked different than the picture we had seen. Service was fast and kind. What did bother me was that despite the fact the place was mostly open, they sat everyone right next to, practically on top of eachother, and this definitely made things feel less intimate and more like a crappy Applebees. It was Good, I would come back, but rarely.

My guest and I shared the country bread to start, and it immediately set the tone. It had a subtle sweetness against a beautifully salty texture, which made it far more memorable than bread service usually is, comforting and refined at once. I had the steak tartare temaki and the tagliatelle, and both were outstanding. The tartare was clean, balanced, and quietly confident, with excellent texture and flavor. The tagliatelle was just as impressive, rich and satisfying without ever feeling heavy. Both dishes felt composed rather than overworked, which made them all the more memorable. My guest had the salad and the salmon, and those were equally well executed. Everything that came to the table felt thoughtful, polished, and deeply appealing without trying too hard. The dulce at the end was a lovely finish, understated but exactly right. The only small note is that the room was a bit robustly noisy, especially for an early reservation. Even so, the quality of the food and the assurance of the kitchen carried the experience. What stood out most was the consistency. Every dish felt considered, every flavor felt intentional, and the entire meal had a calm sense of confidence that is harder to find than it should be. I am not sure what has gone on especially in the past 18 months, but after the last four consecutive visits, the food has been just dreadful. Over cooked, under cooked, slimy/greasy, bland, over frozen, dry. So sad. Places like this shine for me and it is so sad when things fall apart. Today I got the Chicken Parmesan prepared meal from their reach in section. It really did look so yummy. I took it home and heated it up on the stove over low heat like I always do to ensure food that is cooked is not over cooked in the re-heating process. Little did I know that the chicken was already over cooked. When I took the first bite of chicken I was not sure what shocked me first: The total blandness of the chicken, the hardness and obviously over frozen-ness of it, or the over cooked of it. Over frozen has a very distinct taste. And this chicken had it. I think it was frozen, thawed too quickly, cooked (over), then re-frozen. This is just not what you do to food that is supposed to be as good as it is supposed to be here. I hope you guys figure things out. The last meal was the lasagna and it was so greasy omg. And it was similar with the spicy sausage pasta a few months ago - just so very grossly greasy I could not eat more than a few forkfuls. And the chocolate cake - i was totally bummed because on the lid you have a label that says "Our delicious moist chocolate cake". It was so dry, i had to toss it after two bites. You guys had a fantastic reputation. I cannot spend my money here anymore, but even more than that, I do not want to risk eating a bad meal.

Warm and inviting lighting but enough to be able to read the menu, the bartender greeted us felt comfortable and homey. I ordered the Bellini with peach puree, very good light and refreshing, son had their espresso martini, looked light as well, with a foam top, yum! Dinner was Chicken piccata with rigatoni. Lemon flavor was great, not too over powering and the amount of capers balanced the flavors nicely. Son had the Mussels and Shrimp Fra Diavolo with a spinach fettuccini.
