Otto's Pizza doesn't try to do too much. You walk in, you see the pizza, you choose the pizza, you pay for the pizza and you eat the pizza. That's about it. Most people won't even bother to sit down. Pizza is $3.50 a slice. They warm it up and hand it back to you on a paper plate. It's tasty, thin but not too crisp, with some oil. The staff has always been friendly when I've gone there. When you know what you're trying to do and you do it well, that's 5 stars in my book. read more

The pizza was great! My husband and I went out with two friends and we shared a large pizza and a small pizza. I cant remember the names of the pizzas...but OMG..they were amazing. Perfect size, non-greasy, full of flavor, and we paid about 40.00 in total. I would def recommend. read more

Go-to place for pizza near Harvard. Head in with an open mind and try whatever the most unique pizza they have hot and ready. They always have several pizzas hot and ready to serve by the slice, and it seems to be a different selection every time I go in (but maybe I just have a short memory). Cool offerings like pulled pork or eggplant make this the best pizza in Harvard Square. read more

Yum Yum Yum! The butternut squash - cranberries pizza is amazing! One of the best pizza by the slice places - has a lot of options to offer. One slice was very filling, and had the right amount of crunch. Open till late - always a plus! read more

Love this place! I like that their pizzas are different from all the other options around. A little less heavy on the cheese and more of a focus on the other stuff. My tastes are simple, I usually just stick with four cheese, margherita, or the ricotta & basil - all of which I LOVE. The margherita is not the same as other pizza places, it is cheese, basil, and tomato slices instead of sauce. I love this take on it. Yum. The ricotta/basil used to have a third ingredient (I think roasted pepper? I can't even remember now, it's been a long time) which was SOO good. I wish they would bring it back to the menu but the ricotta/basil is still good enough to order every time. My boyfriend has a bigger range of likes and he has ordered many of the other pies and enjoyed them all. My tummy is very happy that I work close by but my wallet, not so much. I have to control myself form ordering here too much. read more

Otto's pizza is the best pizza I have ever had in my life. Unique flavor combinations and a delicious crispy crust. You literally cannot go wrong at this place. Grab a variety of slices. read more

I stopped by Otto pizza by Harvard. It is affordable, and it is tasty. I got the chicken basil pizza which was delicious. I also tried to margarita pizza which wasn't as good but still yummy. read more

Service is beyond atrocious. Ordered a pizza for $27 (!) on a late Wednesday evening (12/14). Estimated time was 80 minutes, but ended up waiting 2 hours despite the website erroneously saying that my pizza had been delivered. The woman answering calls had no apology but informed me that they could make a new pie and send it over - "You probably don't want your old pie because its been sitting here over 30 minutes". Never ordering from here again, particularly when Armando's is so delicious and close by. read more

A friend of mine likes to distinguish between "blue collar" and "white collar" pizza, and I've always found it a useful distinction, even if the occasional pizza joint gets confused about side of the divide they fall on. Now, having grown up in New Jersey, I have strong opinions about what makes for good blue collar pizza. (Do try Pino's if you're ever in Cleveland Circle). But I've never quite figured out what to make of the "white collar" stuff (Upper Crust, Cambridge 1, Emmas, etc.) Sometimes all the ricotta-arugula-caramelized-something-or-other sounds a lot better on the page than it tastes on the palate. It's a mixed bag; I don't know where I stand. Well, a couple of months ago, i was at an event with pizza served from some new place, "Otto's", that I hadn't yet heard of. Flipping through the pies on offer, I found that they were all covered with suspicious-looking ingredients. Pizzas with peppers in all kinds of vaguely flourescent colors. Pizzas with no tomato sauce, and pizzas that look like someone had baked a salad. Nothing against that style of pizza, but I was hungry and in the mood for a couple sausage slices, you know? Well, I took a little bit of everything, and guess what? They were uniformly DELICIOUS. I was surprised and delighted. (Yes, a few did have meat. I don't mean to imply that Otto's is vegetarian.) Based on that experience, I highly recommend Otto's. I really do think they stand head and shoulders above other "gourmet" pizza. Pro tip: expect to get your pizza to go; there is essentially no room in Otto's itself. And if you go there to get slices, bear in mind that, especially with this type of pizza, reheated slices to go will always lose a little bit to a freshly baked pie. So if you have even one companion you may want to have a small pie made to order. read more

Overall: gourmet pizza slice place delivers on value and creativity. Food: delicious white bean/sausage slice, pulled pork mango slices, straight-up peperoni, etc. all thin crust and large slices. tasty Service: friendly Interior: a former bagel shop, get it to go- there's no room but for the small space they do have- it's nice. Otto's was even better when it first opened but I still go there when I'm in Harvard square- way better than Upper Crust or other spots. Best pizza in Boston but you have to be cool with strange stuff on your pizza. I recommend it. read more

I'm a big fan of great food and everyone appreciates a solid new spot. That being said let me say... good luck Ottos Pizza Shop! Interesting space management issues afoot at this elevator sized concept, whats so cool about dedicating 45 square feet of space to your dining room? I dunno. OK some of your combos are interesting. Execution not so much. Loud mouthed hippie skippy "food servers" go screw, just cause it's Harvard Square and you got a job doesnt mean you're actually cool, but keep trying cause nobody likes a quitter. Stick to Pinnochios, you can sometimes get a table. read more

good PIZZA....a little pricey....but for the location..I understand .... ...I had the #17 ...Genoa Salami,Tomato and scallion...... it was good ....great dough and the thing that got me on this was the genoa salami...it was very tasty......it left an after taste to dream about...... would definitely try the other...pizza Like #20....Baby Spinach,Chicken and Asiago read more

You probably know that Otto is one of the best places to get pizza in Cambridge. The creativity in pizza toppings (ex. mango and pulled pork) is paired with great dough that results in a pizza that is amazing from start to crusty finish. We most recently ordered the mashed potato, bacon, and scallion pizza. This was one of the best pizzas that I have ever had - think a stuffed potato on a perfect, chewy and crunchy crust. Happy to pay a slight premium for this pizza. Otto blows the competition (including Upper Crust and Sweet Tomato) out of the water. As other reviewers have noted, the service is completely lacking. We were greeted by a sour-faced employee who perfectly played the part of the jaded hipster. Down the line, this employee served all customers with the enthusiasm of... well... somebody who is not enthusiastic. I get that you should be probably paid more, Mr. Pizza Guy. But nobody is forcing you to work at Otto. If you don't like it, then find a job at Ben and Jerry's down the street. Don't punish us customers for your choice in vocation. read more

Be aware of order online from this restaurant. I order from seamless 30 mins before pick up. I receive the text stated that the pizza will be ready at 4.30-4.45 pm. When I got to Otto at 4.45 pm. The staff told me I had to wait for 2o minutes. I told them that I received the text that it should be ready, they seem to be " NOT CARE" and told me if you want to cancel the order, call seamless" I DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR TEXT" Bad Bad service, I will not order from this place again read more

They approximated a 60-70 minute delivery time to my location a 7 minute walk from the pizza place. They took and hour to make the pizza and an additional 50 minutes to deliver the pizza. I could have walked there and back 3 times in the time they took to deliver lukewarm pizza, with a half hearted apology. I will never order from this pizza place again, and I advise all to do the same. They are unreliable. We host events of 15 people three to four times a week at my office and will never trust this establishment. Abysmal. I made a yelp account just to warn you all about this pathetic place. read more

For a busy and high populated area, the service at Otto pizza was incredibly slow. The place is really small so if your there with a large group like a lot of people looking to go on college tours, ect. It's better to order ahead or dine someplace else. The pizza wasn't my favorite. Personally I think $3 is a bit over priced for a thin slice of cheese pizza. A bit more on the positive side there is a nice eating area outside which is next to a cool souvenir shop. read more

I'm told that when they do not have a slice of squash-ricotta-cranberry available, I'm visibly upset. It's not that I don't love the other options, but there's something special about that one. Centered near the middle of Harvard Square, this place offers thin-crust pizza for $3.50 a slice. The pizza is excellent but I do have one problem with the place. While you usually get a solid sized slice, once in a while you get these tiny slices. Other than that though, the selection and variety of pizzas is great! read more

Very good pizza, very New York-y in style. Maybe too much sauce some of the time, but that is generally made up for with lots of cheese and generous toppings. Great loyalty program (10th slice free) that equals a 10% discount. My go-to off the train after work. read more

Pizza was pretty good, though I feel like it's more of a "snack" pizza, not a real meal. Not too greasy. Ingredients still tasted fresh. Wait time wasn't too long. I'll try out some of their interesting combinations next time! read more

I LOVE Otto's. Hands down my top choice of pizza in Harvard Square right now. You can't really have a nice sit down meal there, as there's hardly any space inside. Overall, I would echo what others have said in terms of good flavor combinations. Sadly, they recently changed their policy so they don't allow half-and-half ordering anymore.... While I know it's not a huge deal (which is why they still get 4 stars), I do think it's a shame. Gone are the days when I could satisfy my indecisive taste buds. read more

thick crust pizza with multiple versions with bacon/pork. chewier and less airy crust.

The pizza is delicious but the delivery service is terrible. I ordered a pizza that was supposed to be delivered within an hour. They called an hour and twenty mins later to say they hadn't started making it and didn't have the ingredients for the order. read more

Best new pizza place I have tried. Very finicky about my slices and only eat at one spot in the N.End. I loved these pies and would travel from anywhere in Boston or Cambridge to enjoy Otto's. Butternut squash, ricotta and cranberry and the pulled pork with mango were delicious combos. If you enjoy crispy, flavorful crust this is the spot. Many places try but this place succeeds. I will be back. Prices and service were also outstanding....but come for the pies!!!! read more

there is better pizza and much better service in the square. although this is not the fairest assessment on their service, since this review is based on one employee out of the three who were working while we were in.... but he was so bad it impacted the entire experience. the man who served us was awesome, friendly, helpful, happy. the pizza was fine. personally, i prefer pinocchio's (hotter pizza and tastier too). what happened that totally threw this experience was while we were waiting for our pizza to warm, a woman came in to pick up her phone order and she was treated so unfairly. when the guy who helped us told her it would be ten minutes, she said in a slightly annoying but normal customer tone "ten minutes?" and then she said "okay" and went outside to wait with two other customers. after she went outside, the employee who was behind the line making the pizzas came out of nowhere and almost seemed to be starting what he was hoping to be a fight with her yelling to her, "yeah, when you called ten minutes ago, and i told you it'd be a half hour, i meant a half hour... what you have nothing to say?!" he yelled, when she didn't hear him from outside and did not respond to him. his coworkers (his poor coworkers!) asked him to stop, but he said "no i'm sick and tired of people like that, i don't want to serve people like her. i told her it would be thirty minutes, it's been ten!!!! i don't want to deal with people like her, i don't want to serve people like that" and he went on so much so that i said, "and you're what makes people like me not want to ever come back here" and then he yelled "what!?" to me and his coworkers again begged him to stop and i dropped it because clearly he was having a really really really bad day. since he was in his twenties, i'm guessing he was not the owner, and that although he doesn't want to serve people who innocently comment on wait time (like all customers do, annoyingly so, but get over it man!), i'm sure the people who actually run the place want any customer to come in and be happy, and come back, and tell their friends and spend their money there and be treated properly by those who work there. not sure if this guy is aware of how hard it is to run a business, and of how much competition is out there, but i'm pretty sure every customer counts. bottom line: i was ashamed to be standing in there while an employee was behaving so inappropriately to a paying customer, and it seemed like those who worked with him were embarrassed as well. the end read more

Good pizza but really bad customer service. Take review with a grain of salt I think we had an unusually bad experience but they don't deliver as the website says, their website didn't work properly and the guy who takes the calls is incredibly hostile for a pizza guy 0_0. ordered a large pie and when it arrived it was burnt on 30-40% of edges. Ask for a small discount and manager said the company does not allow that. He offered to re-bake a pie but I was in rush so left. When I got home the pie was also burnt on the bottom and we tossed it out as uneatable. Wrote to OTTO via yelp site and never got a response. Felt like I am dealing with a large governmental agency like the motor vehicle department which has hard rules ....not a small business that dose not even care about their customers enough to even respond with a call....... read more

I'm a fan of the full size Otto restaurants, but this place is absolutely terrible. I've been in hundreds of walk-up pizza joints, all with basically the same system- you order, you pay, you get your pizza, you leave. Super simple, works every time. Not this place though! There is no menu posted, so you get to rely on one of the employees to yell out what slices they have available. They then expect the (generally drunk) customers to shout back with their orders so they can throw them all in the oven at once. This way, your slice can be ready and getting cold while you wait for the people in line ahead of you to pay and figure out which slices are theirs, then you can give your order a second time so they know how much to charge you for the overpriced, very mediocre tasting, below average sized slices. If you want to try Otto pizza, go to one of the sit down restaurants. If you want a quick slice for a reasonable price, go somewhere else. In either case, avoid this shitty establishment. Also I'm drunk- pretty good typing eh? read more

Again, after many more visits to Otto's I must sadly report that nothing has improved. When you get a whole pie it's awesome- or if your lucky enough to get a slice that just came out of the oven, it's awesome! But that's few and far between- I go in all the time for slices and am stopping going there because they hardly ever have what I want and it's almost always not as fresh as it should be. It would be one thing if slices were only a small part of the business, but they make such a big thing about having slices and the more specialty types are never available and not fresh when they are!!! Sorry Otto's but your being bumped down to 2 stars- please pull it together! This pizza could be amazing with a little more care! read more
