Over priced, no seating, tiny pieces for the price. Honestly, I don't see it. I got two pieces, a cheese and a slice with mashed potatoes, bacon etc. on it. While they both tasted good, the cheese came out boiling hot, the other was cold. Just overall disappointed read more

I had the Mashed Potato and Scallion pizza as well as the Roasted Red Pepper, Kalamata Olive & Roasted Garlic pizza. They were both great and I really like the unique combinations they have here. I'm very picky with my pizza and I'm happy I gave this place a try. The staff was also nice and while I waited for my pizza the cashier and I had a great conversation about pizza. You could really tell he loves and breathes pizza. I have to come back to try the rest of the choices and you definitely should to! read more

This place totally rules, nice alternative to Upper Crust. The mango and pulled pork white pizza is pretty much the best thing going right now. read more

*****Claims to offer gluten free food but does not honor it!!**** Went to Otto's last night because it offers gluten free pizza. I was prepared to buy an entire pizza because that is typical when ordering gluten free. I waited in line for 15 minutes and once I ordered I was informed that they close their kitchen at night and only offer slices. However they did not offer gluten free slices at all. The woman working at the counter was incredible rude and rolled her eyes several times. I suggesting removing the gluten free sign on the menu when they are not in fact serving gluten free and she snapped "Well I'm not a manager" rolled her eyes and walked away. I left feeling frustrated, disrespected and hungry. Luckily there are plenty of other restaurants in Harvard Sq that value and respect their customers because this is not a place I will ever return to! read more

Their delivery is awful. It's been 2 hours since I placed an order and no sign of the pizza yet. If this business cannot handle delivery then why do they accept delivery services. This is the second time since this has happened. read more

Delicious pizza but they took 2 hours to deliver it!!! Is it really worth that long? I don't think so

My favorite pizza in Cambridge. If you're looking for a fancy sit down restaurant, go elsewhere. Otto's is for someone on-the-go, looking for a quick -- and delicious -- place to eat. You really can't go wrong with any type of pizza. I don't even remember the names of the different pizzas I've tried, but I know that every single one has been delicious. If you order a single slice they heat it up for you, and even then, the pizza it came from was made within the last 20 minutes. The slices are massive... One and a half slices (or two if I'm super hungry) is all I need. The prices are higher than your everyday pizza place, but it is so worth it. I love standing at the front to eat the pizza on a cold night, but walking around and finding a place to sit in Harvard Square (on warmer evenings) is great too. Hopefully they open one closer to MIT! Come to Kendall Square! read more

i was looking forward to trying this place given all the good reviews. Stepped in, and was followed by the homeless dog that's hanging out with his friends just outside all day. both employees rushed to pet and cuddle the disgusting animal, and then one proceeded to take my order. I'm sorry, but a dog in a food business? NO. Waitstaff petting a dirty dog in a food business? NO NO. Waitstaff petting a dirty dog and not washing their hands before serving a customer? NEVER. i stepped out without any pizza, and will never go back. read more

This place was high key terrible. Me and my friends waited 40+ minutes for a pizza that seemed like it was rushed. The pizza had almost no flavor and was barely hot. Definitely wasn't worth the wait or money. Worst pizza I've ever had read more

Go hang a salami OTTO, I'm a lasagna hog. Sorry, I couldn't resist a palindrome review. I love the tangy sauce and minimalist aesthetic. Cheap (ish), fast, no messy change to worry about, simple. read more

I thought this place was very average. For one, it was packed and the place is very very small, could not even get the door open, partially because it was broken, partially because of all the people. Then, they just end up reheating most of the pizza once you're there and it becomes a little soggy. I think it would be a great place for late nights in college, but I was not impressed for our midday lunch. read more

I have been to Otto Pizza three times now and I think about it almost every day. The first time I stopped in I had a slice of three cheese tortalini pizza which was unusual and delicious, the tortalinis added a unique texture and quality that I appreciated. Since then I have tried the ricotta eggplant basil which invoked memories of eggplant parmesan. Otto Pizza does not rest on their gourmet ingredients, though. Their plain cheese slices tell the complete story. This is a story of intrigue and desire that begins with a crispy but forgiving crust whose character is perfected to a toasty golden hue. The generously administered (ask my shirt) red sauce follows and leaves more questions than answers. Do I love you, or do I hate you for being faultless? The hero of the story is of course the cheese, the application of which is neither too much nor too little. All of the employees at Otto have been friendly. My slices are handed over to me with delicate smiles that seem to say "this pizza contains the same goodness that makes me a human being. We call it love. That'll be 3 dollars." I reduced the rating to four stars because I would like the option to sit and enjoy my slice. read more

I finally tried a slice of pizza from Otto in Harvard Square. Thus far I'd resisted, because of the steep $3.50 per slice price. But I figured almost anything is worth trying once, plus so many people I otherwise like and admire had claimed that Otto is the best pizza in Harvard Square. While I concede that "good pizza" is a very subjective thing, I gotta say, what a TERRIBLE piece of pizza. I got a slice of "sausage and onion," under which name I received a glorified slice of cheese pizza with three discs of sausage and a single sliver of red onion. On the entire slice! The slice was also paper thin, absurdly greasy, and rather overspiced (particularly with, of all things, too much powdered black pepper). By the time I finished my one slice, my once white paper plate was now yellow, suffused with so much grease that it had literally become translucent. Who knew so much grease could be packed into such a thin slice of pizza??? Only adding insult to injury was the $2 price for a 12 oz. can of soda when the convenience store one door over sells the exact same thing for $1 dollar. Relying on ignorant tourists much? Suffice to say, I'm never going back to Otto again. read more

There website says Order Online - So I take the time to pick out ten pizzas for a corporate event ( 3 hrs in advance no less) , put in all my info , my credit card , delivery time etc. Then about an hour before my event is about to start - I get a call from some girl " sorry, I don't know why the website let you order online , we can't do that, we are under staffed" REALLY ! Its Harvard Square - The day classes start - PLAN AHEAD! They had no problem charging my card though. Also, their delivery means - any where they can walk too - no car service! I am literally 1 block away - oh well - Since I usually do about 15 - 20 corporate events where we have 10-15 pizzas per year , some other better staffed, better organized pizzeria will get my business. There are obviously so many great pizza places in and around Cambridge - better step it up. read more

A extra star for having Maine origins (which also applies to me!). But in all seriousness, I've been a couple times and it's hasn't disappointed yet. We can never seem to get beyong the pulled pork and mango, mainly because it's excellent! The pork is particularly peppery, which I love, and is perfectly balanced by the sweetness of the mango (I find it pairs well with a Magic Hat #9). Also, the crust is wonderfully crispy...and you can't forget the service! Friendly on the phone and in the shop. Also, when you order a pie to go it comes on this mesh mat thing, which I think must keep in the heat - how neat! read more

A great pizza place for sure but Elijah really went above and beyond. Definitely a great employee!

I love this place! My roommates were talking about how good this pizza was for months. Once I tried it, I found out why. This is gourmet stuff! It's a tad expensive but totally worth the cost. Try the butternut squash...sooo delicious :) read more

I really enjoyed eating my slice of pepperoni pizza here. The crust was thin and crispy and there was a good amount of cheese and pepperoni. I was a little sad, though, that the slice was $3.75 but felt more like a snack rather than a meal. If you're craving some greasy goodness in your life, come to OTTO's! Just don't plan on satisfying your hunger, unless of course you plan on buying 2-3 slices. read more

Best food in Harvard Sq. Always several vegetarian options, quick service.

I was quite excited to try Otto as there's a dearth of good quick pizza places in Harvard Square, and I wasn't disappointed. At only $3.00 for a great big slice of tomato basil pizza, I was very happy with the price, and the pizza itself was surprisingly great! I was just hoping for good, as Ottos is a really tiny, order a slice and eat it on the go type of place that just opened up, but the pizza was fresh and hot and delicious, and the basil and tomato were really the stars of the slice, instead of being overwhelmed by sloppy cheese. I also tried the 3 cheese tortellini pizza, which was delicious! It will now be my go-to place when I am craving a slice. read more

Cheap, fast, and delicious pizza. Grab a slice, park yourself by the window, and watch the world go by as it watches you back, salivating as you savor the perfect thin-crust goodness that is Otto. My only recommendation for improvements is that they place small signs by the pizza offerings instead of having the cashier person recite everything everyone a new customer walks in the door. It'll just mean we could get pizza in our mouths that much faster. read more

Ordered a mango chicken pizza. Plus for having things like mango on the menu. I love me some sweet and salty combinations. Pizza was too thin and crispy though. Burnt, I guess you could call it. If you're gonna make it that thin, cook it 3 mins less. Also, the red sauce was too acidic. Could use another hour of boiling to kill the sharpness, or some sugar and more salt. Pretty good customer service. No place to sit inside, just a counter. Probly will not be back. read more

Saw the cranberry/ricotta/butternut squash pie in the window and had to come in and try it. .... .... .... Transcendent. My comment as I walked out the door: "You guys are geniuses." read more

If you're looking for a quick bite, Otto's in Harvard Square is your place. Great variety of toppings and I highly recommend the mashed potato and bacon slice. Wow, wow, wow! Creative, imaginative pizza with a gourmet crust. Anyone with a pulse will find something to dive into and enjoy here! Otto Otto Otto... you are so delicious and inexpensive for how wonderful you are. I first heard of this gem by my boyfriend that read about them on thrillist (I think?) and he was itching to go. I live in Allston and there are about 40,000 pizza places closer to us than Harvard Sq so it took some time to convince me to drive through the traffic on JFK for a pie. We started with the cheese, because the classic cheese pizza tells you how great of a place a pizza shop will be before anything else....... I cannot even describe how delicious it is. I haven't gotten pizza elsewhere since............ I've had it twice in the past week, and haven't stemmed away from the cheese yet but next time I'm branching out for the mango and pulled pork pizza....... it's going to be awesome. If you don't love Otto, then you have no idea what good pizza is. read more

This is probably my equivalent of Cheeseboard in Berkeley, CA (Ok fine, the only thing those two places have in common is that they both serve very good pizza by the slice.) Anyway, I really enjoyed the mango on pulled pork, which is what I got. I tried a bite of the butternut squash too, and it too was delicious. I like their thin crust; I hate when the pizza crust is so thick that it ends up filling me up. I also feel like the oil content is just enough to make the pizza taste good but not to the point that I feel guilty for clogging up my arteries. I heard that the pizzas on sale by the slice rotate whenever they run out, so I'm hoping to see other toppings the next time I drop by. The crowds seem to go in waves at this place--sometimes I see a lot of people eating/waiting to get their pizza, and sometimes the place is empty. But the waves come and go quickly, I don't believe you ever have to wait too long. Like other reviews, don't really expect to find seating here. It's basically just a storefront. I think there are a few chairs inside facing the street but I don't know if people even bother sitting. I like grabbing it to go and eating it on the walk back to school. read more

I had a very long night and decided to order from Otto at 1 a.m. The estimated delivery time was 45-60min, but it came a bit earlier. I ordered the ricotta/basil pizza and a meatloaf, mashed potato and herb. The ricotta and basil was great and I would order that again. I was looking forward to the meatloaf pizza, but it was a bit of a let down. If you are gluten free they have plenty of gluten free pizza options here. read more

Five stars. Bold? Yes. For all those pizza lovers out there, your search is over. Again, bold talk, considering how many pizza places are located in and around Boston. In the Cambridge area alone, we have dozens upon dozens of pizza joints, but they all seem to be interchangable with another. That's not necessarily a bad thing since many of those places put their own spin and flavor on an already delicious meal. That being said, Otto Pizza is probably the best pizza joint out here in the Boston area. Located right in Harvard Square, it is in a prime spot for college students, pizza lovers and anyone and everyone who is passing through the area, looking for a quick bite. When looking at pizza in general, there are so many different styles, big New York style, thick-crusted Chicago style, flatbread, multi-squared Sicilian style. Otto's pizza is your typical, large sliced New York style, which smells and looks just like your run of the mill slice. Until you take a bite. Its pizza that takes it back to basics. Fresh ingredients. Seasoned crusts. Crunchy and soft. But the one thing that was the most memorable - the sauce. Tasting like tomatoes massaged together, with hints of other spices, this was fantastic. Its the basic ingredient in all pizzas, but Otto Pizza has taken the time and effort to create a delicious and utterly flavorful sauce. Combined with the bubbly cheese and pepperoni it was by far the best slice of pizza. Served like any other slice, this place has kept it simple with their presentation, putting a hip yet grounded spin on the pizza. The sauce in pizza is the backbone and the foundation, combined with the crust and ingredients, it creates an experience. In this case, Otto Pizza creates a minimal effort to present you with your pizza, but then floors you with the taste. You will be pleasantly surprised. If you find yourself in Harvard around lunch time, dinner or just need a quick snack, Otto Pizza is where you want to go. Finding a solid ground between creativity and simplicity, this fares as one of the top pizza places in the Boston area. read more

Good pizza slices -- not amazing. The pulled pork slice gets rave reviews but its essentially like browner chunks of chicken. Don't be expecting anything wild n' crazy, but for a good slice of p.i.e. you'll get your fix at Otto. read more

Hmmm.. I am usually not very critical of pizza but this place was quite disappointing. The texture of the pizza is good (thin and crunchy), but I feel the toppings, sauce, and cheese ratio leaves a bit to be desired. My pizza was dry--maybe a thin sliver of sauce down the middle and even after they heated the slice, the cheese was hard like day-old pizza. I'll pass. read more

I rarely give 5 stars unless it's the best food I've ever had in life. I came here while on a business trip as a last minute lunch option. The craft beers are magical as well as their pizzas! You can tell a lot of love was put into it. I opted for the veganized pizza with olives, garlic, and red pepper. PHO. NOMENAL. I'm not even a pizza type of gal but if we had this everyday in Canada, I sure might be. I was also on a tight schedule to catch my flight back home and the waitress was so accommodating. You can tell she was rushing to get my order to me on time so I can leave. Overall, top notch food, service, and beers! read more

Otto has pretty good pizza, especially for Boston. The crust is particularly good; it's thin without being insubstantial. I tried the tomato and basil, cauliflower and mushroom, and pulled pork and mango pizzas. All were good but left my mouth with a greasy coating. The ingredients taste fresh but not particularly distinctive. There is very little room in the actual restaurant, just a single countertop without seats. read more

In my book, the best pizza in Harvard square. Yes, I think on the quality of the pie and nothing else, this place is better than the Just Crust, better than Cambridge 1, better than Pinocchio's, probably even a bit better than Armando's, Stone Hearth, Crazy Dough, Uno, the Village Kitchen, Posto, etc. Mind you, many of those places do their own thing better - I grouped in a huge number of diverse styles of pizza - for instance, you're not going to beat Armando's Sicilian, or the Just Crust's perfectly thin + dry (in a good way) lightness on the crust, or Posto for that VPN experience. And the Village Kitchen just blows this place away overall, but that's for the rest of the Italian food they got there. All of those places are in my rotation and I'd recommend them all to everyone, but if I just want something that hits my platonic ideal of "pizza" this is the one. So, all of those caveats out of the way, and ignoring the slices, when you place an order and pick up a fresh hot pie, custom made, I have yet to consistently enjoy another pizza experience in Cambridge as much as this one. I'm a person who has eaten a LOT of pizza in my life - way too much in fact. There was a two month period where I plowed through an average of a large pizza a day. So I've had a lot of it here. This is American style pizza done right. It's interesting, refined, not an old neighborhood place like Pinocchio's or Armando's, but something like a new mom'n'pop place in a random suburb in the 90s - the kind that had pretty flyers and a clean interior sure, but for some reason had fresh, interesting, tasty pizza. That may not do it for anyone else, but it sure as heck does for me. I don't know how else to describe it, but it works. The tortellini pizza is heavenly. The ricotta and basil and margherita are perfectly fine. The plain cheese, truly superb. The squash and such - not that big a fan, but oh well. The mushroom too - it's ok, but not the best. But those four basic pizzas, and that margherita - they're doing it right. Take my word for it - order yourself a pizza, get there early, give it just a couple minutes to cool off a bit, and enjoy. You'll be satisfied, I guarantee it. read more

Pizza is ok but their take-out operations need much improvement. I ordered two pizzas Sunday 5pm and was told they would be delivered in an hour. That's long, but ok, at least they've set the expectation properly. 90 minutes later and no pizzas I call. The guy tells me they are "on their way". Another 15 minutes pass and I am finally delivered two cold pizzas. Forget it! read more

Please buy lots of pizza here so that they will make so much money that they'll expand and put in a few tables. Their mashed potato & bacon pizza is the best pizza ever (but of course it would be), and in the warm weather it's fine to grab a slice and find a park bench. But what about winter? On the other hand, if I could sit down there, I'd consume 1800 calories worth of mashed potato & bacon pizza every single day ... probably not a good thing. read more

So upsetting how they get essentials wrong. They NEVER heat up their slices enough, and even though they're always busy the slices all look like theyve been sitting out for a long time....which you can see is the case since they all just sit there in the window drying out. I used to go every friday at 545 pm and I've finally begun trying other slices in the area instead. read more

Otto's is known for thin, healthy-looking, imaginatively flavored pizzas. Want mashed potatoes on a pizza? They have it. Like pesto pasta but cutting back on Italian fare / carbs? There's an in-kind slice here for you. This is gourmet pizza, so it's basically the exact opposite of hearty, chunky, caloric Dominoes; the Starbucks of pizza to Pizza Hut's Dunkin Donuts. There's also a nice outdoor patio seating here, but expect it to be dense with revelers, locals, homeless patrons, and tourists alike. I actually like that mish-mash of humanity. read more

I love what they're doing here. The shop is ridiculously small, yet they crank out awesome pizza nonetheless. Tough to go wrong in the very heart of Harvard Square. Otto's started in Portland, Maine, so you can expect high-quality pies made with love. Do yourself a favor and grab a slice, or two! read more

I've eaten here twice (once around lunch time, once around dinner). The pizza is good, but the service isn't great and the space is tiny. It's hard to make sure you actually get the right slices in the right order; the processes of ordering and receiving your food seem to be completely disconnected and there really isn't anywhere for the people waiting on slices to line up. If the service were a little better, I'd be a fan. If the pizza weren't quite as good, it'd be just another pizza place. read more
