The Florentine steak was very good and the burrata with pesto was delicious! It was a perfect night with wonderful service, except that the waiter tried to upsell us wine. The waiter didn't like my initial pick, attempted to talk us into a different one at twice the price by giving us a taste--after we agreed he then attempted to substitute another bottle that was 100 euros a bottle. I caught it and they were very pleasant about it, but something to beware of. Despite all of that, I'd return--we had a great night. read more

Came here on a recommendation from a friend to get a Florentine steak. The minimum size of the the steak must be 700g. I also got the potatoes on the side. Really small restaurant and almost all the tables were packed! The steak piece I got had tons of fat and I felt like I didn't eat like 20%-25% of it since it was fatty. The potatoes were a bit of overkill and I probably wouldn't order it again as the steak was enough. Steaks are aged for at least 25-30 days if not more before they are served or cooked and ready. They have two fridges outside showing the sizes of the steaks Unfortunately, when I was there the power went out and it took about 1-2 minutes to get back up and running. There was no announcement from the staff or anything they did to compensate for this. read more

First, this place was hard to find. It's located near the main market, but Google maps had trouble pinpointing the location. Best to look for the corner of Via Panicale and Via Chiara, then head towards the market . It will be on your left. Initial service seemed somewhat curt, but once we had been there a while they seemed to warm to us. We had the Tuscan special which is a HUGE T-bone, plus potatoes--definitely enough to split between two, though we did see some people eat it on their own. Lots of meat, but it was not especially tender, nor was there much flavor. The place itself is very cute, and very intimate. It would be a good spot for a romantic dinner. Osteria Dell'osso is cozy and intimate so big parties beware. We chose the wall that was nicely decorated with wine bottles so I'd say our ambiance was pretty good, although that won't always be the case. It's not a bad looking place it just isn't overly nice except for the one wall on the right. We had great service, both people who helped us were friendly, answered all our questions, and made sure we were happy with our meals. I really wanted to try the Florentine steak but didn't want to spent 78 euro unless I knew I'd love it. Based on the food I did have, I should have tried it. I ended up with the pork scallop which was tasty but small. Thankfully we were sharing the side of potatoes as I had more food and because they were....amazing. Perfectly cooked roasted potatoes with proper seasoning so each bite was tender and flavorful. I had a glass of Moscato and really liked it, it was sweet and cool and just perfect. For dessert, we started the chocolate tartino and wow was it great. A liquid chocolate center wrapped in a little cake and topped with chocolate sauce. A true chocolates delight. A nice touch were the edible flowers that were used for the plating. They added both color and some texture to the chocolatey goodness; so good we almost licked the plate clean. read more

Wish there were 0 stars. Disgusting. Worst meal of our trip thus far. We were excited to go and made reservations based on so many positive reviews. Maybe their steak is good (we didn't order that because we had steak the night before). Best of our dishes was the mushroom pasta but nothing special. Caesar salad was the worst I have had in my life with dressing from a bottle, and the chicken and pork dishes were both so overcooked that they were inedible. Couldn't tell what was microwaved but they certainly appeared to be using one. We wasted 75 Euro on this meal. Do not recommend. There are so many better alternatives. read more

Price was to be expected since being in the main town. Steak was tuff, but portions was HUGE! Pasta selections were probably better than avearage, but you are in Italy and pasta should be at least avearge. Place was small, seatung outside is available but i chose to sit inside. Wonderful place. The pasta is to die for. Best Aosta I've ever had hands down. My mom loved her chicken. The food tastes very fresh. The wine is delicious. Incredible steaks and service! Came here for dinner and had the whole place to ourselves. The waiter was so nice and told us all about Florence during different times of the year, how the weather changes and how the population changes! The chef also worked right near our table so we got to watch him prepare our meals-- he put so much care into presentation and every little detail. You could tell he truly put his heart into each dish. My mom and I both ordered a medium rare, grilled beef fillet steak and I got the grilled vegetables as a side which consisted of a whole tomato, eggplant and zucchini. The vegetables were out of this world! I've never had a grilled tomato before and it was so good. The steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Huge portion for the €20 price as well. We found this really cute place accidentally. We ate at one of the 2 tables on this patio. The weather tonight was perfect... cool 72deg. Our waiter was nice. He recommended a delicious docg Chianti. Very friendly staff. Unfortunately the food was a bit too salty than other restaurants we had in Florence. The t-bone was great, and my wife ordered a clam pasta. The pasta was way too salty and she almost cracked her teeth by a small rock in the clam. Also we went during summer time and way before we could finish all of our drinks and enjoy our night, we realized there were at least 4 small flies in my beer and 1 in my wife's diet coke. The owner said there is nothing they could do since there is no shades for the outdoor seating. We have been in Italy for five days now, and this was by far our favorite meal. We started with bruschetta, which comes with three slices of bread topped with tomatoes. We had the tagliolini with bologna, and the gnocchi sorrentina, both of which were fantastic. On a whim, we actually listened to the waiter and got a steak he talked up -- which was such a treat. It was fantastic, and perfectly cooked medium rare. We couldn't stop talking about how much we were enjoying this meal. Food was fresh and flavorful, and great portions. The staff was super friendly. On a short visit to Florence, my wife and I knew we had to try authentic Florentine steak. Osteria dell'Osso offered an amazing steak and so much more. It's got a great location in central Florence, but a short walk away from the craziest tourist section of the city near the Duomo. This meant the restaurant wasn't too packed, helping lead to attentive and friendly service. Our waiter steered us toward examples of local wines that fit with our meal and answered our questions. He humored us in allowing us to try and practice our broken Italian, but was also capable in English. On top of everything, we had an incredible value for the money. The cheese plate that we began the meal with almost threw off our entire meal plan because it was such a huge variety and amount for the money. Afterward, an excellent, simple mushroom pasta, then an 800 g Florentine steak that was perfectly seared.
