In a town of Bistecca alla fiorentina, this restaurant was recommended to us and it delivered. The gnocchi was a fantastic way to start our meal. Creamy and spicy, only if you mix in the hot parts. They come to table and weigh the meat in front of you so you know what you're paying for. It is cooked rare or medium rare. This is NOT like steakhouses in NYC. In its own category. It was presented with melting bone marrow, sea salt and cut off the bone. Extremely flavorful and tender. My only issue is that the fat doesn't render and there was silverskin in some pieces making it inedible, plus you've paid for this by weight. Great attentive service by Nick read more

Wow, this place is amazing. Our waiter was very friendly and he was super hilarious. He made jokes and it enlightened the room. He provided us with excellent service. We ordered the 2.6 lb dry aged Florentine steak and gnocchi. The Florentine steak is a must try steak here. It was very juicy, tender, and it was bursting with flavor. The meat was nice and chewy. The steak was gigantic and it is bigger than my head. They first bring out the raw steak and weight it in front of you. The steak is enough to share for three people. The gnocchi was also very delicious. It was cheesy and rich. It was also in a way creamy and the cheese just melted in your mouth. One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth and eaten. The cheesecake is very famous in this restaurant. We tried it and understand why. The cheesecake was super creamy and soft. I had a great time and experience here. Definitely will be back sometime soon hopefully. This is a place I highly recommend to everyone. Come and try it out for yourselves. read more

I visited La Buchetta on September 20, 2026, with my husband, daughter, and son-in-law, and our experience was truly memorable. Our party was served by Benji and Luciano, who each contributed something special to the evening. Benji was extremely knowledgeable about Italian wine, particularly the flavor profile of Chianti and what distinguishes an authentic Chianti Classico DOCG. His understanding of the Italian wine industry is impressive, and he is genuinely enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. Luciano, meanwhile, is a server extraordinaire. He assumes nothing and instead takes the time to explain, with elegance and care, how each element of the meal is meant to be enjoyed. He gently poured olive oil onto a plate, added salt and pepper, and explained that we could dip their homemade focaccia into it. Although I was already familiar with this tradition, watching him present it was almost poetic. He then brought out our Bistecca alla Fiorentina with a side of sea salt and a small candle made from the steak's own fat. As the candle melted, he explained that we could drizzle the rendered fat over the steak and finish it with a sprinkling of sea salt. Divine! The steak was excellent, as was the salad with arugula, peaches, tomatoes, and burrata. We also absolutely LOVED the warm cheesecake for dessert. One particularly thoughtful moment came just after Luciano served our main course. Without our even asking, he offered to take a photograph of our family together. It was such a simple but genuinely kind gesture, and we appreciated it very much. The combination of excellent food, knowledgeable service, and Luciano's gracious attention to detail made our dinner at La Buchetta a wonderful experience and one we will remember fondly. read more

The food, service and drinks were all delicious here. We were lucky to walk in and get a table, but I would suggest getting a reservation if you can. It was very full. The asparagus was delicious, crisp and perfectly cooked. I got the Gnocchi Angeli e Demoni and was really happy I did. It was excellent. One interesting thing is that this was the only restaurant we ate it in Rome, Milan, Venice and Florence over two weeks that made you choose a tip at checkout. read more

This was the second place where we ate dinner in Florence, and on this particular night we were in the mood for lasagna. Unfortunately, I decided to visit Google and Yelp reviews, which are at the disposal and discrepancy of the American taste and appetite and not local tastebuds. This was my first attention to detail when arriving at a restaurant in Italy where it's obvious you're American, but unfortunate that they pair you along with other American's who enjoy ranch on salad dressing and don't understand virgin olive oil and red wine vinaigrette is what one tosses that salad with here. We were greeted amicably and the server only brought to our table bread and no olive oil. I had to request it. Surprised. The dining area was busy, and it felt as if this restaurant was ideal for friendly family gatherings. We weren't in the mood for wine, and here's where I learned that it's considered sacrilege drinking water and no wine with dinner here. I like wine, but don't need it at every meal. Plus, we don't drink a lot of alcohol. I also had been fighting a cold and wanted plenty of water. The waiter didn't seem to understand, but I digress. We began our meal with a wonderful salad, which had a salad mix of mangoes and cucumbers. I felt gratified with our choice, and believed that when we ordered lasagna it would be magnificent. Unfortunately, it was a bit charred at the ridges, a bit too long in the over I imagine. The taste was there, with a good marinara sauce, but it was honestly a tad dry. We didn't order desert, which again, the waiter seemed put off that we didn't order as we, husband and I, were both full. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Amazing service, the servers were so friendly. I was sent here on a recommendation from a coworker that the gnocchi was the best she's ever had, and she was not kidding!!!! Light, cheesy, flavorful - I am still daydreaming about it today. The wine was great and the dry aged beef was amazing. If I will go back to Florence, this is a must! read more

Another excellent spot we tried in Florence. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was Nugo. He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server. read more

Amazing!!!! You will not regret your decision to book a reservation. The restaurant is not huge and feels like the service is reserved especially for you. Fyi there are two locations, make sure you go to the correct one (only two blocks apart). Wonderful, laid back but inviting ambiance. Waiter was super friendly, taking time to explain their wines in detail and food options. They even have a kids menu with sizeable portions for older kids. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meal, and it was definitely the best wine we had with meals in Florence. Gnocchi and wild boar taglietelle were outstanding. Had we had come earlier in our stay we might have come back again They also do a wine window which I wish I'd known about earlier because the other one we tried for fun was not good read more

This review is for La Buchetta 2 since the wait at the original one was too long. But the menu is exactly the same! We were specifically looking for a restaurant that serves the Florentine steak, and this place truly met the expectation! The service was warm and efficient (although our waiter tends to upsell a bit). We had an amazing meal and a local wine that we got to taste before making a decision. Watching the steak being cut and sliced and dripping the fat over it was a sight in itself. Don't miss it! read more

Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor when I was at a bar nearby looking to see where I could grab dinner in the area. Off I went when I saw the good reviews. Luckily I was able to get in and got great service and recommendations. Had the Hugo and blood orange spritz's to go with the spezzatino (traditional Florentine beef stew with Rh potatoes). It was hearty and perfect for the day which happened to be raining off and on. Learned about wine windows in the process! read more

La Buchetta is a landmark steakhouse in Florence, and for good reason. Sure, there are plenty of tourists and foreign students that roll through every night (guilty as charged), but they still offer fantastic food experiences for the tourist and the local alike. We ate here twice during our stay in Florence. The experience was fantastic both nights, with different dining experiences: Night one was the steak experience, and it was simply one of the best meals of a two week trip in Nirthern Italy. Pasta courses that were amazing (truffle-y and cheese-y) preceded our for-the-table steak. The steak? Fantastic. Marbled the right way, grilled just enough to give us that Maillard boost. We cut all that we could find off of the bone, saucing it as was suggested- olive oil and salt, mixed on the plate, and that's it. It wasn't heavy, it was just enough, and it made for fantastic sobremesa before the tiramisu and limoncello. There are bigger cuts n the menu, some served with the tallow candle presentation (yum), and if there had been four of us, we may have gone that route. Night two, and the service staff says: "You had steak last night, so let's get you some light pasta and some nice salad." You're right, friend. Let's go that route, and leave feeling like we've been cared for, and still leave having enjoyed more truffle and cheese and seasonal goodness. And of course, I'll take that coffee and limoncello. This is a nice, local-feeling place for the out-of-towner to get the Florentine steak experience. read more

This was my family and I's last dinner in Florence. I have been here before back in 2019, and La Buchetta delivered the same as a few years ago. Our server Eledo was absolutely incredible. He took the time to share the history of the restaurant and give us a full informational review of the menu, as my family has never been. Our food was so amazing, it is by far the best lasagna I have ever had in my life. We also got the caprese for an appetizer, the eggplant, and the gnocchi. We had the tiramisu for dessert, so worth it! After eating we wished we had more time in our trip to go back! This was the one reservation I made when I went to Florence because I had heard so many good things about it. it definitely lived up to my expectations. my boyfriend and I shared one pasta dish, and one protein. I was a little hesitant at first about the steak because it was with blue cheese and walnuts, which was a little out of my comfort zone. However, it was done so well and the blue cheese is not as pungent as the ones they have in the United States. I would definitely recommend making a reservation if you plan to come here! A Special Night As honeymooners, my wife and I knew that we wanted to splurge for a romantic, special dinner as newlyweds. Per the recommendation of my sister and BIL, we took a stab at La Buchetta. We made a reservation (which is necessary for this place) and arrived on time in high hopes for a special meal. What happened next was an unforgettable experience! The first thing you'll notice upon arriving to La Buchetta is the fantastic, high level of service. Every single server, host, and cook with whom we interacted was friendly, helpful, and full of energy. We received complimentary, celebratory drinks and a special brownie dessert to commemorate the occasion. Both were delicious. The next thing you'll notice is the romance of the restaurant itself. Dimmed lighting and walls plucked right out of history (with a special glass window peering into a historic room somewhere in Florence) make for an unforgettable locale. We could have sat in that restaurant for hours! And finally, the food is masterful. Our appetizer was a mozzarella cheese and tomato combo. It was fresh, simple, and delicious. Be warned! Appetizers are large and not necessary. We found that by the time pastas were served, we were already stuffed. The truffle demonstration was unique and silly, but made for a great pasta. And my wife's gnocchi was some of the best gnocchi we have had in our lives. The mixture of ingredients and flavor of the meat is only topped by the edible flowers decorating the dish. All in all, if you are a tourist looking to celebrate a romantic occasion, embrace La Buchetta and make memories like we did. read more

We had an unforgettable dining experience and ended up eating here twice during our visit to Florence -- that says it all! From start to finish, everything was top notch. The Florentine steak (Bistecca alla Fiorentina) was without question some of the best we've ever had: perfectly cooked, beautifully seasoned, and served with care. What really set this place apart was the customer service. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and truly knowledgeable -- making great wine recommendations and catering to every detail. This is definitely a super popular spot in Florence. I would recommend to make reservations for dinner otherwise seems like they may just turn you away. For lunch they do accept walk-ins although reservations are still encouraged. We came in around 12:30 for lunch and were seated immediately. It was packed by 1:00. My wife and I ordered a variety of pastas and salads. Our personal favorite was the gnocchi. Super creamy yet very light. The pici special was good, but I did think the whole pasta being made inside the cheese wheel is a bit gimmicky. The risotto I thought was maybe a bit overcooked, but flavors were excellent and I thought the shrimp was great. The two salads were also delicious. Both were super fresh and a great way to cut through the richness of the pastas. The space is fairly small and cramped given how popular it is. That being said, didn't feel too claustrophobic. Mostly just lively. I do wish we got the steak here, but since we already had one the day before it was purely a pasta experience. Service was very friendly. They definitely know how to work the tourist audience. Overall it was a fun experience and I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Florence! read more

For out last night in Firenze meal we chose La Buchetta. It was a great choice with exquisite decor inside and wonderful food and friendly service. We had to go here to try the infamous Pici Special which is pasta prepared tableside with a cheese sauce inside of a Pecorino Cheese wheel. My wife and I shared this dish. So much cheese! Delicious! My daughter chose the Ricotta Cheese and Spinach stuffed ravioli with a blue cheese sauce and caramelized shallots and fried sage. I tasted this and it was wonderful as well. Along with a Negroni (created here in Firenze!) and a few other drinks, and a pistachio cannoli with espressos for dessert, we had an excellent time here at La Buchetta. The decor inside is very well done with over 5,000 corks creating an immense arched doorway and other artwork around the interior. We were told each cork was from a wine bottle opened at La Buchetta. Pretty impressive! Give this place a try! read more

Absolute best meal we had in Florence. We shared the Florentine steak (how could we not try the dish for which this restaurant and region is known?), as well as the "Angels and Demon" gnocchi-- both were tremendous. The gnocchi was somehow both light and rich, with beautiful pulls of cheese as you took each bite, and the steak is weighed at your table, then dressed / cut tableside as well. To add to the special "production" feel, we also ordered rye gelato, made fresh table side with a few fresh ingredients and liquid nitrogen -- it was amazing! The restaurant is small, so get reservations in advance, and tip your server even (ours was incredibly friendly, funny, and attentive, and we felt welcomed throughout). Hubby and I celebrated our anniversary here. We had a reservation ahead of time online, which was a bit odd of a process b/c you sign up, but they'll confirm 48 hours in advance, so it was kinda up in the air for a couple days. But they did confirm the reservation via email. We were there on Halloween, 10/31/2024, and I guess dinner time we picked was not their peak time, good for us b/c then we saw some folks walk-in and were seated right away. I would rather have had a reservation than chance it. Initially, we were sat at a table in the back room which felt a bit cramped for me with no air circulation back there. We were also sorta near the restroom, but not the closest table to the restroom. It just felt a bit too claustrophobic back there. Our server was very kind and friendly and offered us his menu recommendations. Unfortunately, I just didn't like where we were sat when there were a few tables available in the front room. Our server was kind and moved us tables, but sadly that meant we also got a different server :( but he assured us he'd take care of us lol and he told our new server that we were celebrating our anniversary. Idk why they didn't just seat us in the front room where there was more space but whatevs. I got their bleu cheese pasta, and it was amazing. the bleu cheese sauce was soooooo yummy. Recommendation from server #1. hubby got their gnocchi (also recommended dish) and not only was it the most beautiful and eye appealing gnocchi I've ever seen, but it also tasted amazing. I had gnocchi once before and I didn't like it but this one was delicious and melted in your mouth. At the end, our server brought us a "love dessert" for our anniversary which I thought was kind and sweet. We were sat kinda at the front, and so b/c it was Halloween, it was fun to see kids in costume pop into the restaurant and the staff had a bowl of candy ready for the kids. That seemed to be a thing for businesses to have a bowl of candy ready as we saw many kids around popping into other businesses. The most trippyyyy thing happened. Like I'm a big believer in signs, like a serendipity type of thing. So the new table we were sat at was against the wall, and hubby and I sat across from each other, and there were a couple prints on the wall, one next to him, and one next to me and looked like both were from the same artist but we didn't really pay too much attention. Tell me why mid way through our meal, I took a closer look at the art work next to me and it had the artist's last name in the corner of the print. and it was the same as OUR LAST NAME. I couldn't believe my eyes , like was this for real, What are the chances, I thought my eyes were playing tricks b/c how random was that. I didn't expect to see a Spanish last name in an Italian restaurant. I told Hubby, look!!! and then he looked at the one next to him, and it also had our last name in the corner. Of all the tables in the restaurant that they could've re-sat us at, it had to be that one, and that art work was placed there. We asked our server about the art work and he said the artist was French. I kinda tilted my head sideways b/c our last name isn't French but I figured maybe the artist was a French lady and she changed her last name. But then I looked up those paintings to find out more about them. The paintings were French inspired, by a Mexican artist, and what we saw were prints. Talk about coincidence though! Overall, we had a great anniversary dinner. read more

Dinner here will be the meal your family will talk about for years to come. It lives up to all the hype! FANTASTICO!! My husband and 2 boys shared a 47oz steak. Holy wow, if you want a place to get good Florentine steak in an intimate setting with attentive servers, run here! You'll likely have to make a reservation online but it's worth it! We ordered the Florentine steak with a pasta and appetizer and topped things off with dessert. The steak has a minimum spend and there were three of us and the minimum was PLENTY. They'll show you the cut and weigh it in front of you and then go back and grill it up, their recommended temperature is very rare (but not bloody because of the aged steak). If you have folks with different preferences at your table, the servers can take a few pieces after the initial cooking of the steak and grill it up to your preferred temperature. A must stop while in Florence! Extremely welcoming. Very tourist friendly. But above all, some of the best food I had while in Italy. I feel like you can't go wrong when ordering but my personal favorites were the gnocchi and ravioli. I also had the truffle pasta, steak(filet and ribeye), side of potatoes, tiramisu, and the chocolate mousse. We loved it so much we went twice in two days. Other reviewers said the gnocchi was the best they've ever had and I laughed thinking they were being hyperbolic. They weren't. The gnocchi is absolutely stunning. Has the perfect marriage of flavors. Same for the ravioli. Well crafted and thought out flavor combinations that almost overwhelm the senses. This place reminds you why you come to visit Italy and makes you want to hit a reset button once full so you can experience it all over again. Shout out to the staff as well. We didn't have a reservation and knew it was a gamble, but we showed up as they opened at 7pm on the coldest night of the year, so far, and they had mercy on us. Our 2.5 hour dinner was amazing! The waiters are very engaging without being gimmicky. Their food recommendations were on point, as well. We aren't drinkers so we didn't have wine, but we noticed other guests were happy with their wine recommendations. For portion-size perspective, my husband and I shared all the dishes. There is no way I could eat all this myself. We stared with the Pear and Peccorino salad, which was divine. The sweetness of the pear with the rather mild Peccorino and the bitterness of the spring mix was just perfect. I almost ordered a second one. We also had the grilled filet, medium rare as recommended, and it was very tasty. The roasted potatoes we ordered as a side were simple and amazing. They were so soft and creamy inside and crispy outside. The highlight of the evening was their special pasta. It's a thick spaghetti prepared tabelside by tossing in a Peccorino cheese wheel, with fresh black truffles. My experience with truffles have all been dried, in oil, and likely fake, so I was worried it would be overpowering, but my fears were unfounded. The pasta was perfect! It was decadent without being heavy in my stomach. The flavor was delightfully balanced. I would eat it again in a heartbeat. I highly recommend this dish for both the experience and the taste. We finished with the vanilla gelato, also prepared table-side, made with liquid nitrogen. It was a nice touch, and a fun experience. The gelato itself was so light and airy and just perfectly sweet. The space is really small, and they don't turn tables quickly, so make a reservation for sure. We just happened to get lucky and get in without one.
