Everyone lines up outside, and once the doors open, the entire restaurant is seated at the same time. It's unusual, but somehow fun -- like the curtain lifting on dinner. We were greeted with a welcome drink, which set the tone perfectly before the main event: the famous cheese-wheel pasta. They prepared it right in front of me, swirling the hot pasta through a giant wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano until it turned silky and glossy. Then came the fresh truffle -- and I mean fresh. Easily the most fragrant, delicate truffle I've ever had in my life. Absolute heaven. A really great dining experience. Booked weeks in advance and for our time a lot 7-9pm, people were lined up 10 minutes early to be let in. They brought us all in as a group (checking reso names) and sat us at individually tables. Then the "show" began with welcome prosecco, wine orders, etc. We got the squid and pork screwers as a starter and thought the flavors were just okay. The complimentary cheese bread ball and regular bread was super tasty. For mains, we got the truffle pasta (with the famous cheese wheel) which was fun to watch. The pasta itself was very solid, but not best ever. Also got the beef/boar pasta and it was better than the truffle pasta in my opinion and cheaper. The deconstructed tiramisu was yummy. My daughter really wanted to try the cheese wheel so I made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time before our trip to Florence. About 5-10 minutes before our 7:00 p.m. reservation there was already a queue of about 15 to 20 people waiting to get in for their reservation. They had us lined up to the right side of the door and those who did not have reservations lined up on the left side. The restaurant was very cute and Italian rustic. The staff were very nice and attentive. I started the adults off with an aperitif and the kids had sparkling apple cider. My kids said the apple cider was really good and I ended up ordering them a full glass. Just a note unlike the US, water is not free and bottles usually run from 3-5 euros. They also brought out some other appetizer and bread. The bread was good ( most restaurants the bread was bland). We ordered the tagliatelle flambe (cheese wheel) as well as a Florentine bistecca (steak). They brought out the steak raw for me to take a look at and it looked fine so I gave him the go ahead. I would recommend also having them flip the steak over to look at the marbling. I believe somebody else had complained about the amount of fat on the steak. Personally I like marbling on my steak but I do agree after the steak was cooked medium rare there was a lot of fat. But for me I eat the fat so it was not a huge deal. For the appetizer I ordered the Spiedini di calamari e guanciale alla brace, salsa al nero di seppia, limone bruciato. Everything was delicious. Their tiramisu has a different spin to it. They refer to it as a concept. While tasty, we prefer a more traditional. The total bill was around $221. It was an enjoyable meal and the staff was excellent. Restaurant is located about a 10 min walk from the Florence train station so convenient location. Guests are served a complimentary glass of prosecco which provides a nice touch. Today, we ordered the beef tartare, truffle pasta, grilled octopus, and chocolate mousse for dessert. The beef tartare is served with chickpea flatbread which is odd but nevertheless the dish is tasty when mixed with the home made mayonnaise. The star of the show is the truffle pasta which is served tableside and generous portion of truffle but for $28 euros, it's definitely on the expensive side. Likewise, the grilled octopus was very tender but the portion was small for the price. It also wasn't as chargrilled as I was hoping from other grilled octopuses I've had. Came here between end of November and beginning of December of 2025. The ambiance was amazing. There were mix of locals and tourists. The place is big and was crowded. However, the noise level wasn't that high and we were able to have conversation. We ordered Tartare, proteins, and the noodles with the cheese roll and with truffles. We had a reservation booked for ourselves ( great idea given the reservation line itself was long while the other (walk-in) line definitely was longer. Coming to the food, starter was a fried leak and cheese croquette (on the house) followed by the flambéed pasta ( the staff prepares the truffle pasta right in front of the tables ( at a time for 3-4 tables together)) that turned out to be amazing ( I didn't eat it but wifey did and had heaps of praise for it). I have celiac disease and glutenous bread was brought to our table last night AFTER informing our waiter of my strict gluten-free dietary restriction. When we arrived for our 7:00 reservation there was an huge line, but those who made reservations were escorted right in. Apparently, this is a popular and trending restaurant on instagram. I did not know that. We stayed at the Grand Minerva so it was a few doors down from the hotel. I highly suggest making a reservation. Luckily, we were there in April so it wasn't too busy. They open for dinner at 7pm, so we got in line a little after 7:30pm. I think we were seated in about 30 minutes. We got the cheese wheel pasta (Flambé tagliatelle with fresh truffle in Grana Padano cheese wheel) that everyone is talking about. It's amazing! Definitely worth stopping by. The meal came with an aperitif. I got the Alcohol free gin tonic with aromatic essences, wild fruits basil and lemon--it was great! TL;DR - get the truffle pasta in the grana padano wheel (like everyone else is raving about) I found out that this place had a truffle pasta made in a cheese wheel, so I definitely wanted to check it out while in Florence. I made a reservation 2 weeks ahead, and the only time available was 9:15 PM (it was a Wednesday). We happened to be in the neighborhood at around 8:30, so we decided to check if they had any availability to seat us earlier, and they were able to give us a table about 15 minutes later. There's a line for people with reservations, and without, and for without, there was a steady stream of people waiting. Even when we left the restaurant at almost 10, there was still a line and Google says it closes at 10:30! The restaurant is kind of touristy. You could tell everyone else also somehow found out about this place on social media. Everyone is getting that truffle pasta. However, it is not a tourist trap. The food is actually good. For drinks, I had a Tuscan cola, which was so good. It's less sweet than a Coke and tastes more natural, if that's even possible/makes sense. I even tried looking for it afterwards at Italian grocery stores with no success. For an appetizer, we had the smoked pork shoulder with roasted mushrooms and porcini mushroom mayonnaise. The pork was so tender and I loved it with the chanterelle mushrooms. For mains, we had the lasagne with beef, veal and pork ragù, goat truffle cheese and herbs olive oil, and the flambé tagliatelle with fresh truffle in Grana Padano cheese wheel. The lasagna was good but I didn't love it - probably because of the goat cheese (which I didn't realize had goat cheese until we got the dish), but I did like the sauce. The truffle pasta was amazing because they put on a whole show for you. They will cart the giant cheese wheel to whichever table orders it, and toss/flambé the pasta right before your eyes, so make sure you have your phone ready. They give you a generous amount of truffle. This dish is meant to be shared because eating the whole thing is kind of heavy because it's so rich. For dessert, we went with the Osteria Tiramisu, which is kind of like a deconstructed tiramisu, and the Chocolate Cake (fior di latte ice cream, pears and caramel). I preferred the tiramisu because the chocolate cake was too sweet for me. But I loved the fior di latte ice cream. I probably would have been happier just getting a few scoops of that but I wanted to try something less basic. If dessert isn't really your thing (it normally isn't mine), I would say you are better off skipping it and heading to the gelateria instead. To finish off the meal, they give you limoncello shots on the house. Service is impeccable. It is so efficient and they have a very well-oiled machine. Even though it was a packed house, we were in and out within an hour, more or less. Their ordering system is done through an iPad. When we ordered our drinks, someone else brought them to our table as soon as the waitress walked away. We were confused and amazed at the same time at how quickly we got our drinks. They also clear out old dishes quickly, but I never once felt rushed, and that is key to great service. Don't let the late reservation times deter you from checking this place out. You could also try my method of arriving earlier and hope something is available. But even if it's not, the whole dining experience is worth the wait. read more

Apparently, their flambéed tagliatelle with truffles is all over TikTok and that's why this place is packed with tourists. It seems like everyone comes just for that pasta. I don't think I heard any Italian spoken here for the two hours I was there. The staff coats the cheese wheel with brandy and sets the brandy to flame. Then pasta and cream sauce is mixed with the melted cheese in the cheese wheel. This step is kind of gimmicky as it would be simpler to just mix in grated cheese. The pasta is portioned out and topped with shaved truffles. I did enjoy the pasta quite a bit, but did not need the whole show. We also ordered the grilled Florentine steak, which was recommended by the staff, but found it to be mediocre (1 star off). For dessert, we ordered chocolate cake, which was also recommended by staff, but it was like a basic brownie. Aside from the flambéed tagliatelle, I don't think there is anything worth trying here. This was the worst meal and experience I had on our entire trip to Italy. And I fear I may be right in calling Osteria Pastella a tourist trap. First, the food is not that good, and overpriced. Nearly 30 euros for 4 tiny pieces of mediocre steak on top of mashed potatoes. I had to pay an extra 5 euros for a side of vegetables that were supposed to be grilled , but were served like they were boiled instead. Not good. It's supposed to be an Italian restaurant , but the staff is international and I didn't see any Italian workers. I doubt those who are cooking the meals are Italian, but I could be wrong. Regardless, only tourists are dining in the restaurant and it's located right off of the piazza Di Santa Maria novella. They serve cappuccinos at night. That's automatically a guarantee that this is a tourist trap. Italians don't do cappuccinos at night. The staff was not friendly. They just slapped the bill on our table without saying a word and left. They left the bill with a note saying something along the lines of "thank you for coming..." and etc.. I added lots of salt at the table, and the meat was too chewy. Not pleasant at all. Also, this dish came LATE in the meal, as we had finished our first course 20 min before this one came out. We had to follow up on it. The price is per 1 hundred grams, so it came out to (€74 for a 1.2 kg steak) - that's a lot shared between two people but I really didn't like it. Paired a glass of red Chianti wine with everything and it was strong, pleasant. They do give lemoncello at the end. While waiting before they opened, we saw a woman making fresh pasta through the window. some people were videotaping her but she did not seem happy about it! I honestly thought our entire experience here was mid. The food gets a 3.5-4 star rating. First, if you don't make a reservation expect to wait at least an hour even if you line up before they open. Second, if you enjoy your food piping hot do not order the cheese wheel pasta. Your food will be lukewarm - youve been warned. As for the pasta itself, the taste was pretty decent and the truffle was divine. However, I felt that it didn't really live up to the hype especially with so many amazing options all around Florence. I enjoyed watching the fresh pasta being made in the window and I do appreciate the complimentary Prosecco, bread assortments and limoncello shot. Those were definitely nice touches and made this restaurant stand out as far as experience goes. If you have the time and are itching to try out a fresh cheese wheel pasta this is a solid choice. However I can't confidently say this was the best pasta I've had in my life. read more

Absolutely! After reading so many great reviews I had to try it. It did not disappoint! I got the oh so popular tagliatelle pasta tossed in the hot cheese wheel, it was so delicious! Not to mention it had shaved truffles on top. I also had the caprese salad - the fresh burrata and tomatoes, wow! read more

I really wanted to try their pasta in a cheese wheel with truffles, and this did not disappoint. It was everything that I expected it to be. My wife had 2 appetizers (beef carpaccio and steamed veggies), and they were both very good. Our son had Tuscan beef filled with mashed potatoes, and he said it was one of the best he ever had.
