We enjoyed our pasta and gnocchi and the house red. Super delicious. A few nights later, we were in a group of 6 and they managed to get us a table. 4 adults and 2 kids and the service was great. We enjoyed the steak (perfectly cooked - simply seasoned - I can't wait to eat more of it) and various pastas. More house wine and then a nice espresso at the end. Made a reservation beforehand (emailed them) for a trip to Florence coz I'd heard good things. Service was REALLY fast, so I appreciate that. Food was hit or miss here. Love how they gave fresh bread at the beginning and also water on the house. A lot of places charge for water. LOVED the Bruschetta. I'm not usually a fan of tomatoes but this was amazing! I even had extra haha. Costata di Manzo alla Griglia 500 Gr. - We really wanted the Bistecca alla Fiorentina in 1/2kg, but they didn't offer that option. Steak was flavorful. Some parts did have fat and were a bit cheeky, but overall not bad. Roasted potatoes with the steak were good too! Pappardelle alla Chiantigiana - Pasta was cooked well and the beef part was flavorful too; Would certainly have loved more beef in there! Molisana Pizza (tomato, mozzarella, ricotta cheese, spicy salami) - Really delicious pizza! The ricotta and spicy Salami combination was amazing! We came upon this place by accident and we are so glad we did. They have a lunch special for €12 that includes two dishes and 1/4 liter of wine. The choices were varied and the food authentic and delicious. We had the bacon tomato pasta and tomato caprese from menu and a Gorgonzola pizza with two espressos for a total of €21,50. 95% of people there were locals. Our tour guide suggested this restaurant as one he frequented because of the good food and prices. He was not wrong. Two of us ordered off of the 12 euro lunch menu and my husband ordered pizza. Everyone's meal was fresh and delicious. My husband was even able to add a spicy chili oil on his pizza. The chili oil was made fresh daily by the chef, who we met. My husband said it had a wonderful flavor and he could tell how fresh it was.The staff was super friendly and helpful. We were surrounded by locals having their lunch. It looks like a small restaurant when you first enter, but there is a large room in the back. We wish we had taken our tour on the first day we were in Florence because we would have eaten there everyday. read more

Saw a crowd of people in front of this restaurant last night and decided to make a reservation for tonight... so glad we did! Everything was cooked to perfection and was so flavorful... my husband finally got his Florentine steak we've been hearing about during our tours of Florence and it did not disappoint! Server was busy, as was the restaurant, but he checked on us to see if we needed anything, offered to switch out our coffees for limoncello shots, and was pleasant and attentive. We all loved this restaurant so much that we want to go back for lunch tomorrow. One thing to note: the T-bone meal for €38 each (minimum 2 orders per table) comes with a LOT of food: appetizer platter, T-bone, roasted potatoes, 2 desserts, 2 coffees. Best meal so far in Italy. I'm glad we came here with the recommendation from our Airbnb host. Loved the ambiance, staff, and food!!! Such great hospitality from our waitstaff as we work through the different courses. We started with a bottle of Chianti wine. Our appetizers included the octopus carpaccio, asparagus salad, and mussels. All were wonderful. The only change I would make is to consider having the asparagus grilled rather than blanched. For entrees we got the sirloin in wine sauce (not pictured as the hubs dug in before my photo opportunity), lobster gratine, and seafood risotto. They were delicious. Nothing to complain about. For dessert, we tried the chestnut panna cotta, regular panna cotta, cheesecake, and custard puffs with chocolate. My favorite was the chestnut panna cotta with the slightly burnt caramel sauce- it's a must try in my opinion! There is plenty of seating for groups. The price is very reasonable. Rating this place is difficult. It depends what you are looking for. This place is 5 star if you are looking for value for money (small budget). Food is not expensive and for lunch they do an incredible 10 deal that includes a starter, a main, wine and still or sparkling water. This place is 3 star if you want a romantic place where the waiter takes time for you. The decoration is basic, the chairs made of plastic, the waiter very very busy, and you plate stands on a fast-food style paper placemat. To be honest, the house wine included in the lunch meal is not so nice. But I like how I got a sharp knife for my pizza. The toilets were very clean and it has fast WiFi. read more

For lunch, we went to Osteria dei Centopoveri (which means "one hundred poor"). Originally, this restaurant provided meals for impoverished people at a really low cost. Today, they are dishing out great food to everyone, and a complete lunch (2 courses) costs € 10, including wine and water. I so enjoyed the pasta with truffle cream sauce with ham and peas while my husband had the pasta with meat sauce; then, we both had veal scaloppini with gorgonzola and peas. Can't beat that! Evan, our server, was a delight. The restaurant had a great vibe with lots of locals and tourists enjoying a great meal at a great price. You should not miss this restaurant. Summary: there are better options for you than this restaurant. The food was ok. We came here for the Bistecca alla Fiorentina. And it was not great but not bad. But wow that bread was terrible. It was tasteless even with dipping it in olive oil. The ambiance was good. Enjoyed the location and decoration. Their real problem was the service. We had to ask for plates. Then we had to ask for steak knives. And this wasn't easy since they rarely came near us to give an opportunity to ask. Then they didn't even bring us out the last desert courses for our meals, but by that time we were just tired of this game so we paid our bill and left. And on the way out the staff was just sitting around on the benches at the entrance chatting. So all in all, I wouldn't waste my time at this place. A Florentine local took me and my friends here for a late night meal...it was all locals and packed at 10:00pm. Food was top notch considering how reasonable it was. Chianti was 3 Euro's a glass! If you want to eat like the locals do, this is the place. It's right around the corner from a really kewl Rock n Roll bar called "Public house 27" which is so popular everybody is spilled out on the street drinking as overfill. Oh. My. God. I want to just stay in Florence so I can eat here at least once a week. It was our last of four nights in Florence and we were walking around to find the perfect place to eat dinner. We didn't really know what we wanted so we figured we should go to a restaurant with Tuscan dishes but also with a larger menu which had choices. When we arrived around 8:30 on a Tuesday the restaurant was PACKED! At first we thought well, we don't want to struggle with Italian/English to see how long the wait was, but we figured a wait was a good sign so we went in. The host (who we now think was the owner) told us we only had about a five minute wait. In the meantime, they served us and the other parties waiting champagne on the house to enjoy during our wait (can we please adopt this in America?). Once we were seated, Our waitress greeted us and was very friendly. She appreciated our attempt at Italian and quickly spoke to us in English. She did help us with some pronunciations. We ordered prosciutto and melon for antipasti. Honestly if we hadn't been waiting we wouldn't have thought to order it, but I saw at least three tables order it during the wait. It was a perfect blend of salty and sweet. Whoever thought of the combination deserves a medal. We had a bottle of house red wine. Only €9.... I guess that's fairly normal, but I still can't get over it. It was delicious and inexpensive. Dinner. DINNER!!!!! So most people say they've never had a bad dish in Italy. I'll say that while I have so far not had a bad dish, I've definitely had a few meh dishes. Dishes that didn't make me make sound effects after each bite. That's what I expect in Italy. And that's what I got here. Every last bite. In English... I had a pork loin chop with fried potatoes. It was served in a very light sauce. A truly simple recipe that was bursting with flavor. My husband had the steak tenderloin with Gorgonzola. I'm allergic so was unable to try it but by the noises he was making I know it was the best meal he'd had so far in Italy. Dessert. I asked for the pear cream something or other. They were out so I gave her my backup as cheesecake. She surprised me with a cream piece of pie/heaven/holy goodness in my mouth that well, was spectacular (forgive me I'm running out of adjectives). We topped it all off with a lemoncello which I'm likely spelling wrong but we were introduced to it the night before at another restaurant and this was superior. The ambiance also made the entire experience much more enjoyable. Our server was spectacular, the food delicious, the price reasonable (under €60 for all of the above)... Really. Here's the situation, prix fixe for lunch at 10 euros for starter pasta (homemade at the pasta shop across the street - amazingly delicious), main (meatballs, chicken, roast beef, etc) + wine and water. Huge Chianti on our table couldn't fathom drinking it all. Local waitresses makes you feel like a real Italian! Dinner was quite a bit more expensive and we went during an Italia soccer game so was packed... Made the service spotty and a bit disappointed with the food and long waits between courses. As most other reviewers have mentioned, the lunch special is an excellent option if you're in the area. The menu consists of your choice of a first & second course along with red or white wine and sparkling or still water. Coffee and dessert can be added for a minimal cost. The menu choices show good variety and the quality is decent. I had the penne with ragu to start and the meatballs with polenta to follow. My wife had the spaghetti pomodoro and the big salad. My pasta was good, albeit a bit bland while the meatballs & polenta were excellent. My wife's portion of pasta was huge & she also felt slightly bland while her salad came out pretty big - more than could be finished in her case. The house white was very good actually and we both had a strong cup of coffee to help with digestion. A couple notes: the salad comes with tuna on it; it was fine with us but those with fish allergies (or who just don't like it) may want to steer clear. Also when paying, since we just did the special, you just go to the desk, tell them how many you had & if you added anything else on then pay there. No bill to be brought by your server. All in all, a decent experience when you want heartier food than a panini and want to sit but don't want to pay a ton of money. read more
