I've been on Italy for about a week now and so far Mamma Napoli has provided the best service. It's top notch. And the lasagna was, ad the kids say, on point. So far my favorite lasagna. Mamma Napoli should definitely be on your list to eat at.

Yeah, the calzone was great, but that's not why we fell totally in love with this place. We were in Florence for 3 nights and went there every single day. What makes it so outstanding was the people. From the moment we were greeted by Mauricio's ever, yet genuinely, smiling face, we felt like old friends. I've never met a guy who loved what he did as much as him. You could tell that serving his customers to a great time , is his jam. We were compelled to come back time and again, for dinner, lunch and just a great bottle (or 2) of wine and apps. Mauricio introduced us to his wife, the chef, his awesome son, David, the owner, Mama, and some fantastic cheeses to pair with equally fantastic wines that we had never before experienced. Rarely has a dining experience been so much fun. And YES, the meals were delicioso!

Amazing food and service. We had the pizza that has the cheese in the crust with prosciutto and spicy salami. Best pizza I've ever had. The vino rosso is amazing as well. We also had the Nutella donuts and a limoncello. Bravissimo! I shall be back soon.

We stopped here on a whim on our first night in Florence after a long day of travel and were not disappointed! Our pizzas were delicious, filling and exactly what we were looking for in that moment.

We had the most amazing experience at Mamma Napoli! We had a refreshing local Rose, fresh octopus appetizer, gnnochi, Ravioli, and dessert! Service was amazing and so hospitable. Ask for Maritzo!

Inside is simple food is great!

Gorgonzola ravioli, lasagne and the ribollita soup were delicious! Ambiance inside is simple but the food is great!

If your in Florence. This is where you must go. My group went here everyday we were there. Not only is the food phenomenal, the host/server/owner Mauricio was the sweetest funniest, and most loving person I may have ever met. His hospitality was the reason we came back everyday, as well as the very delicious very affordable food. Thank you Mamma Napoli.

The food and service seemed good, but my husband and I both got sick after eating the swordfish. Stick with the pizza.

From the outside, it looks like a grand, iron-and-glass structure typical of European markets; inside, it opens into a bustling, multi-level space filled with food vendors, communal tables, and constant movement. The vibe is energetic, social, and slightly chaotic in a fun way - perfect for grazing, group dining, or trying multiple cuisines in one visit (from Italian to American to Mexican!). We stopped in for a quick lunch at around 2pm on a Wednesday; there was plenty of seating at high-top tables, and QR codes on paper menus make it easy to explore all the different food vendor options. It's also a fun activity to peruse the market, taking in different sights, smells, and flavors. All of us ended up opting for Schiacciatas (large Italian sandwiches that are a staple in Florence) from Massimiliano Parri, which all ended up ranging from €10-12, depending on toppings - yes, it's more expensive than what you'd get from a traditional schiacciateria, but you're also paying for the market's location and convenience. We appreciated the fact that they shave the meat right in front of you! My schiacciata came with freshly shaved ham atop crusty white bread, slathered with burrata cheese, and sprinkled with arugula and figs (I opted for no additional olive oil, since I found the ham quite rich already). I loved the contrast of textures and flavors, though I will say that the bread ended up cutting the roof of my mouth! All in all, Mercato Centrale is a bit touristy, but still miles better (and cheaper) than most "Italian" sandwich places you'd find in the US (pro tip: save your receipt for free use of their bathrooms). The variety can't be beaten, prices are reasonable for a central market, and it's steps from some of Florence's most iconic spots.
