Location is in a weird parking lot adjacent area. lots of cars driving by. this was upsetting for my mother. she asked to sit more inside away from cars driving by, her concern was for dirt/pollution. the outside area was cute, elevated, great breeze. the wait staff were welcoming and nice. Only got an eh face when we unordered the fanta. the margherita pizza was GREAT. crust beats Eataly. a little stingy on the basil rigatoni with ragu: red sauce, yummy the fettucine with ragu: different sauce. also yummy bruschetta, fresh, slightly burnt bread, would've liked more basil. not sure if there was any basil or if it was supposed to have basil... would definitely eat here again. read more

Here now. A five star Doris review. Happens rarely. We didn't have a reservation but were seated right away. A beautiful woman spoke English and was so kind. Our meal was 22.50 and a couple of beers. I think In total ended up being around 40 euro. We had: 2 Apperal spritz 1 pizza 1 salad 2 beers. The pizza gave us life after traveling almost 15 hours. My mom and I were so pleased and just felt renewed. The salad was something I'll try to recreate at home, it was that good. It has white beans, cabbage, potatoes, olives, tuna. Tossed lightly with olive oil vinaigrette. It was divine. I cannot comment on parking as this was located in the city center. We sat outside in a tented booth much like you'd see in Seattle, Portland, New York. Blankets were on every chair. The table next to us was delightful. Thank you so much!!! Excellent service but the food was disappointing. I had a Tuscan pasta and beef dish that didn't have much flavor. My wife's eggplant Parmesan had a thick layer of oil on the bottom of the dish. We had a prosciutto caprese appetizer that was alright but the bread, olive oil and balsamic were bland. Not terrible but we had much better in the area. read more

Yeah, the calzone was great, but that's not why we fell totally in love with this place. We were in Florence for 3 nights and went there every single day. What makes it so outstanding was the people. From the moment we were greeted by Mauricio's ever, yet genuinely, smiling face, we felt like old friends. I've never met a guy who loved what he did as much as him. You could tell that serving his customers to a great time , is his jam. We were compelled to come back time and again, for dinner, lunch and just a great bottle (or 2) of wine and apps. Mauricio introduced us to his wife, the chef, his awesome son, David, the owner, Mama, and some fantastic cheeses to pair with equally fantastic wines that we had never before experienced. Right outside the mercato this place has amazing food (Naples is rumored to have the best pasta in Italy and cuisine here is all supposed to be Napoli based). Also, the service was almost fantastic (a rarity in Europe) with very friendly waiters checking on us more than once an hour. They brought out a special sauce for my boyfriend to eat with his bread called Capriccio Di Pesce, and he searched all over for it. I was pleasently surprised with this restaurant. It is right across the mercado centrale and I was expecting a typical tourist trap because of the area. Whether it was or not i cannot comment on but is irrelevant because the food was delicious. I had the calzone, I don't remember which but it was the one with pork in it and the very italian sounding name. I was blown away. The calzone itself was so fluffy I thought I was eating dough made for desserts. Everything tasted fresh and came in a timely manner. Our waiter was very nice and accommodating as well. The waitstaff was super friendly, this middle aged men made us feel very welcome which was nice since it was my moms first meal in Florence. Came back for dinner and had the Veal Saltimboca, the Carbonara (again), and Tagliatelle Funghi Porcini (my wife loved this one!). The veal was great and the Carbonara was (once again) terrific.
