    Bistecca Florentino!

Fabrizio and Katerina were amazing! The food, service, wine, and limoncello were all incredible! Highly recommend dinner here! All of our pasta and my Florentino were delicious!

Stopped by to have dinner here ordered few options here for the first time snd everything was great! Inside seating was very nice and the service staff were amazing. The young lady who was our server was the absolute best. Gave is recommendations on food options and was really quick to everyone's aid. The house wine here was one of the best we had in the city and the bartender offered us limoncello on the way out which was very nice of him. Would definitely recommend and return.

Amazing service and great food! We loved the decor and the friendly vibes. Our server was also the owner! He had amazing recs and our food was so good! Our 5 yr old devoured the lasagna ! My husband got the long noodle with bolognese sauce and wild boar.... It was outstanding. We also tried the caprese salad and a side of potatoes soute and both were excellent! My mom got the Crespelle alla fiorentina which were crepes stuffed with spinach and cheese.and they were outstanding. If you're in Florence u have to put this on your stops!

Italy/ Florence dining is about finding the off the main drag away from the touristy leaning restaurants & finding the family/husband & wife that work so hard to give you a delicious meal. Pensacola Peggie is one of our favorites. It's one of the first we revisit from our last trip here. We pretty much got the same food & wine. What can I say. Its wonderful. The owners Fabrizio and Gabriella are a delight & thank you to share a limoncello as we paid our bill. Warm & inviting.

The place is absolutely a gem, the service and food were amazing. Now the owner of the shop is the reason why we will be going at least 2 more times before we leave. The cheese they use is absolutely creamy, delicious and hearty. The owner talked to us for about 20 minutes while we paid. Talking to him made our night a little bit better after this amazing meal. His hospitality, and his personality made the difference. Closed on Sunday's but worth waiting for !

Best meal during our weeklong trip to Italy. Stumbled upon this place when our original dinner plans had too long of a wait and am SO glad we did. I tried the cut steak with balsamic sauce and it was incredible, I still think about it! Service was efficient, fluent English, and we shared a complimentary limoncello shot when we paid at the counter.

Pappardella al Cinghiale. Amazing pappardella tossed in a red sauce with wild boar.

My husband & I found Pensavo Peggio on Yelp during our recent trip to Florence. To say the food was good would be a huge understatement. We asked the owner what she would get & both dishes did not disappoint. Food was perfect. The ristorante was family friendly & we loved it even more when the locals came in & had their own special table. This place is a must visit on your next trip to Florence.

    Bruschetta appetizer

I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. The owner was SO nice, gave us free limoncello shots, and everything came out in a timely manner. They also had €5 glasses of wine. I ordered the lasagna, which was the best lasagna I've ever had. It wasn't your typical red sauce lasagna, but even creamier and tastier. My friend does not like tomatoes, and absolutely LOVED the bruschetta appetizer. We kept trying to find places in Florence that had similar bruschetta, but none were as good as this place. The portions here are just perfect, and I was stuffed after the meal. The restaurant is small, but was not overcrowded at all. This is definitely the place if you are looking for a quiet place, and would be perfect for a peaceful dinner/date.

This was probably one of my favorite restaurants while in Florence. It's definitely off the beaten path but well worth it. We started with the mixed salad and I loved the pesto dressing. It was so light and went well with the sun dried tomatoes and mozzarella. For my entree, I had the wild boar pasta. It was very good and it came with tons of boar (probably more than I needed). I also tried a bit of the balsamic steak, this was tasty but a bit on the sweet side. The house red wine was heavenly. Service was excellent and it was a real Italian experience for us. I highly recommend coming!

The best lasagna you will ever eat.

The best lasagna I've ever had in my life. The wine was fantasy too. She starts cooking the lasagna first thing in the morning to lock in all the goodness. The cheese just exploded with every bite! The white ravioli as a pairing was also really good. Best place we've eaten in Florence this week

    Italian Salad
    Matt J.

Like so many Italian salads, what you see is what you get. There is no lurking chemistry between the ingredients. However, the pesto was spectacular and the waitstaff kindly gave us some extra to help round out the meal. But in my assessment of the worthiness of a dish in terms of how well I could recreate it, this would rank exceedingly low; in fact, we did recreate it later than week and, with total control over the ratios, it blew this version out of the water. It was an enjoyable salad but not worth paying restaurant prices for. It is, however, a lovely space with a mezzanine oozing charm.

    Bruschetta

I found this wonderful recommendation on Yelp from some recent customers so we thought we would give it a try. The food was tasty, great portion size, and definitely left you wanting for more. The tomatoes on the bruschetta were flavorful and the crostini were done perfectly (not to hard, not to soft) Our main courses did NOT disappoint either. My husband LOVED his Ragú sauce and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The Crepe Florentine was delicioso!! Highly recommend both dishes. Afterwards we complimented the owner, and he was so humble, kind and appreciative. The 3 of us celebrated with a little Limincello shot. It was the perfect start to our first day in Florence.

Their house wine is phenomenal and they take great pride in finding the grapes/different varietals to make it come to life. They have a both a red and a white house wine option. The second time we went - and yes, we went more than once in the four days we were there - we enjoyed one of the sandwiches and it was absolutely amazing. Ordered the eggplant appetizer (involtini di melanza) and it was okay. The tomato sauce was good but the spinach inside tasted like the wilted frozen stuff from the grocery store. We also ordered the Vegetariana and Diavola pizzas. The Vegetariana pizza was a bit dry (it doesn't have a sauce) and the vegetables over cooked and burned to some point. We didn't finish it. The Diavola is where things go from "meh" to awful. The crust wasn't fully cooked and fell apart in the center, but that could be overlooked. What cannot be overlooked is the spicy salami they used. My girlfriend got sick from eating a piece and said it tasted old. I tried a piece and my stomach immediately turned as the the taste of expired meat hit my tongue. I bit into another piece for good measure and the same case. I absolutely love pizza and I can honestly say this is the absolute worst pizza that I have ever had in my life. We ordered 2 pizzas and left more than 1 and 1/2 pizzas on the table. I hate wasting food and I have never left pizza behind to get thrown out. I'm beyond disappointed that a pizza restaurant in Italy could mess up pizza so badly. Also, a FYI they charge a "coperto" which is a 2€ cover charge to eat at the restaurant.

Everyone lines up outside, and once the doors open, the entire restaurant is seated at the same time. It's unusual, but somehow fun -- like the curtain lifting on dinner. We were greeted with a welcome drink, which set the tone perfectly before the main event: the famous cheese-wheel pasta. They prepared it right in front of me, swirling the hot pasta through a giant wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano until it turned silky and glossy. Then came the fresh truffle -- and I mean fresh. Easily the most fragrant, delicate truffle I've ever had in my life. Absolute heaven. For dessert, their tiramisu wasn't the classic layered version; it was more of a deconstructed, airy éclair-style creation that still delivered all the right flavors. We finished with limoncello, a bright little goodbye that wrapped the whole experience in a perfect bow. Yes, Osteria Pastella is a bit of a tourist vibe -- but the food does not miss.
