Randomly walked past this restaurant and decided to pop in! Vibes were up! The inside of the restaurant is super vibey. Very chill ambiance The service was excellent. Food came out fast, waiter was friendly Ordered the bolognese and gnocchi with truffle. I've had better bolognese but still delicious. I do HIGHLY recommend the gnocchi with truffle. I was shocked to see that it was stuffed!! I've never had anything like it. The truffle flavor was prominent but not overpowering. There were shaved pieces of truffle on top which added a cute garnish but I don't think it added more to the dish. Definitely recommend if you like truffle

Two of us went for NYC restaurant week dinner, $45 for 3 courses. We got fried calamari, burrata, spaghetti with clams, gelato and cannoli. Everything was very good, decor is eclectic and the waiter was charming (he was from the Amalfi coast).

I made a reservation here for a Friday night at 8 PM and hung out at the bar while they got our table ready. The staff were nice and brought my friend a chocolate raspberry cake to celebrate her birthday! The food here was definitely fresh but not the most flavorful? The crispy cauliflower had no dressing on it for some reason when we got it and the burrata, although good, only came with two small pieces of bread. The free bread they give was okay but you can tell the olive oil is good quality! I got the pappardelle swordfish ragu which was good but for all the Italian places around, didn't blow my mind away enough for me to make an effort to come back. Overall good, but pricey dinner!

Saffron Garganelli- Handmade saffron infused garganelli, lump crab, Calabrian chili butter, Sorrento lemon breadcrumbs. $30. Excellent dish

I went to this Italian place a while ago as per many of my recent reviews. The place is pretty small and the service was friendly going a bit above and beyond compared to many other spots. I didn't order too much as I was going to a tournament at the Marshall Chess Club up the block from there but from what I had, the food was very tasty. They gave some bread and olive oil at the beginning which was warm and fresh and had some good crispiness and was overall good quality. As my only dish, I went with the Saffron Garganelli for $30 with handmade saffron infused garganelli, lump crab, Calabrian chili butter, and Sorrento lemon breadcrumbs. The pasta, which resembles quills, was cooked properly with a little bit of a chew and was good quality with a good portion size. The crab in there was plentiful and sweet and there was a little bit of smoky heat from the chili butter but not too much that it overpowered the crab. The bread crumbs was a unique touch adding an interesting but delightful crunch to the pasta with a bit of semi-sour lemon flavor. The dish overall was well balanced, very flavorful, and filling and I liked it a lot. I got a side of Sautéed Corn for $12 with scallion and pickled onion which was okay. The corn was hot inside of a mini skillet with it being pretty sweet and pretty buttery almost reminding me of esquites but without the heat. I think it would have been overall a bit too sweet and one note if it wasn't for the pickled onions which added a nice bit of sourness and crunch as well as a new texture. This was fine but I wouldn't order it again. In terms of desserts, I perused but had no time but I did find an amaro/amari I had never had before and after checking with the waiter, they gave me a half a shot of it with the check which was very nice. I can see why this place has been around for a while as I overall had a good experience. The pasta I had was excellent, the menu is small but well designed, and the inside is comfortable being small but not too small that it feels cramped. I would definitely go back with a group. Rating is for now though it could be updated to lower if I go back and have a dish that's not as good as that excellent garganelli.

This is a gem, especially if you're looking for a romantic date night spot. The ambiance is intimate, warm, and inviting. I visited during NYC Restaurant Week ($45 for a three-course meal). I started with the Ricotta Toast, which was incredible--the combination of truffle honey, sourdough, and shaved truffle was delicious. For my main, I had the Bucatini Swordfish "Bolognese," a unique twist on a classic pasta dish. To finish, the Polenta Cake was a tasty dessert.

Osteria57 is a Cozy and rustic Italian restaurant. Reservations are recommended. Ordered the cacio e Pepe and it was out of this world. This is what I was looking for! After trying a Michelin rated Italian restaurant and the same dish, Osteria 57 sure has it beat!! The portion was absolutely perfect. Was able to eat the whole thing, also because it was that good. And made room for dessert. We had the TIRAMISÙ, Housemade espresso savoiardo, mascarpone mousse, cocoa powder, which was a delight! Also had the fluke CRUDO which was magnificent. The ambiance was nice and intimate. And the drinks paired nicely with the dishes. Service was beyond excellent and attentive as well. If I gave any inclination that I was cold, they would adjust the temperature in the room to make it comfortable. Quite amazing. Felt like a real restaurant experience as you could tell waiters were appreciative. Service and dining experience alone would make me want to come back, coupled with the exceptional food is an absolute yes.

Very well done dishes, across the board. Leans heavily on veggie side, but not exclusively. But a great place for people/groups that shy away from meat. Vodka sauce excellent!! The pasta with Italian sausage was also very good.

This place is all you could want and need. The service is great, the food is AMAZING, and the ambience screams that you should come back every chance you get. If you're ever in Greenwich Village you must come.

I don't have enough good things to say about this place!! It is THE best Italian restaurant I've tried in years! Authentic, great quality (they actually use olive oil/not garbage seed oils like many place), incredible and unique flavors (the saffron garganelli is a must-try and lobster pasta was incredible but that was a restaurant week special). The berry tart was delicious too, and not too sweet.

Fantastic italian food with reasonable pricing! We came as a group of 6 with a reservation (definitely recommend making one before coming it gets packed!). Here's what we got: Whipped Ricotta Truffle Toast - this was by far the best things we got here. The fresh truffles, creamy ricotta, and hot honey was a combination to die for! Unfortunately it was a special for that day but they should 100% add this to their regular menu it was so good! Crispy Cauliflower - this can be skipped, it was pretty bland in my opinion. The inside was also pretty mushy Burrata Pasta - this was spicy, tangy, and perfectly al dente. Definitely more of a simpler/basic option out of the other pastas but still pretty good Cacio E Pepe - this was perfection! perfect balance of cheese/pepper. My favorite pasta here! Maflade Pistachio - this was super unique and tasty! Never had a pesto with pistachios but it was really good! Mushroom Gnocchi - this was also a special for the day. The gnocchi was super light and fluffy and the mushrooms were perfectly tender Overall, had a fantastic meal here and would 100% be back for more!

Paccheri Pomodoro Burrata

The best pomodoro pasta I have had. The food across the board is well curated and just delightful. The staff is incredible, so attentive and friendly. The partners are very present and interacting with customers. I miss the old location, but the staff is working hard to bring the same intimacy to the new spot. Its warm tone really helps!

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures of the food. We dove in and inhaled it too quickly!

The ambiance is intimate and cool (took multiple pictures of the curated bookshelves our table was nestled against), the food was spectacular, and the service was excellent! We had the Market Salad, the Monkfish, a pasta dish, and pistachio gelato - each were so fresh and flavorful, every bite was a culinary delight! We were there for dinner Saturday night and the chef came out to ask if we enjoyed our meal. When we heaped our praises on him he recommended their sister restaurants. SubsequentReview of Travelers, Poets, and Friends coming next!

we were sat outside - do not recc sitting outside. we were only visited/checked on 3 times and we had to go inside to ask for a check. if we were inside, we 100% would have better service. there were even leftover glasses at another outside table because no one went to clean it up.. thus, we asked if there were any tables inside because there was a homeless person grinding on the seat near us but were declined even though there were many leftover reservstions online. food itself was ok. the highlight was the giant truffle gnocchi that was creamy and filling. carrots were a bit bland and soggy but the other 2 pasta dishes were good.

They take pride in their restaurant's offerings, as they should. My server was wonderful, offering suggestions to this first-timer. I started with a Volcano Roll - hearts of palm substituting for fish. Well balanced and delicious. Next was broccoli "beef" - fresh broccoli and shitake "steak" with mushrooms really balanced the dish. I ended with something so unnecessary and so wonderful, I'm glad I did it: The sticky toffee pudding. Just pure delight. It was relatively quiet when I was there. I could see how it could get a bit noisy if it were crowded. But even so, the people who visit are friendly and I ended up having a great conversation with the table next to me. I'll be back. I'm not exactly local, but it's definitely worth the trip! Planta is on my faves list now!

So, from the vegan perspective, this is a popular and tasty place. We started with drinks, being lunchtime, we opted for non alcoholic drinks, the matcha colada and the salty maple macchiato. The matcha colada had a nice color but tasted mostly like coconut and pineapple which was still yummy. Friends ordered 3 different kinds of sushi and dan dan noodles with tofu. I was confused with the sushi as I thought vegans didn't eat fish...so yes I asked and was told that they probably made the "fish" with tapioca. I did try a bite of each roll (I was still full from the fest) and I was surprised that it tasted pretty good. They did a nice job with the roll and presentation. The matcha cheesecake was nice and creamy. I would not have known it was vegan. I don't normally like food that pretends to be something else because it usually doesn't live up to the real thing. The idea is that it is not pretending to be something but rather substituting with vegan options, I do think from a health perspective, I am more open to trying more vegan foods. Ambiance felt upscale and wait staff were helpful and congenial. I hear dinner time gets packed here. I may have to try again when I have not eaten already.

My favorite is the BBQ roasted meat that resembles roasted pork. I find that it always is moist and packed with pork flavor. This time there was a seafood special that arrived in a sizzling pot. The sauce was a typical brown sauce with some seafood broth added for flavor. The scallop by the texture, look and taste did resemble the real thing. Mushroom e-fu noodles is another favorite dish that I always get. Noodles are sauced just right to carry the umami from the mushrooms and not be soggy. They usually have a subtle plumpness to them but last time they seemed to be a bit on the flatter side. They renovated since the last time I visited. Most of the circular tables have been removed replaced with rectangular ones. Bench seating is now along the perimeter. I think they can accommodate more people this way. We ordered the dim sum sampler and the BBQ vegetarian meat with cabbage and rice. The BBQ vegetarian meat was the standout. Most pieces were tender with some crispy edges, and the sauce was sweet and aromatic. The cabbage gave it a nice earthy balance that kept the dish from feeling too sweet. The dim sum sampler was also a great choice. It had a good variety, including a watercress dumpling, sticky rice shumai, a steamed BBQ bun, and a couple of others. It's a perfect way to try multiple items without going overboard. Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurant was clean. The only thing keeping this from being a perfect experience was the way the wait list was handled. The person at the front was giving estimated wait times but wasn't taking names, which caused a larger party ahead of me to be bumped when a later group arrived and was seated first. By the time I left, it looked like they had started taking names, so hopefully it was just a temporary hiccup. Overall, still a fantastic meal and worth the visit.

So what is Le Botaniste? It's an organic, plant-based, and carbon-neutral cafe with locations in NYC and a couple in Europe. So everything is vegan. Everything is organic. The calories and other dietary information are listed on the menu. I had their Chef Priyanka Samosa Bowl (a seasonal offering), which includes brown rice, saag, samosa balls, crispy chickpeas, turmeric onions, tamarind and green chutneys, and yogurt raita. It is 433 calories and 12 grams of protein. I thought it was good - although I thought the samosa balls were quite dry (the chutneys, saag, and raita helped), and I liked that it was light and healthy and wouldn't slow me down for the rest of my busy day. I also grabbed a water and a quinoa peanut butter cookie that I saved in my bag for later. (I noticed that they had some wines that I would have been happy to try - if you eat in, you can have a full experience with a drink.) I showed up right at 11 when they opened, and there was only one other customer. The reservation email said they would hold the table for 15 minutes, and we arrived at about 9:43 after getting stuck in traffic. We were still within that window, but as soon as we checked in, the host immediately told us the kitchen was closing in one minute and that the bar would close in about 20 minutes, so we needed to place our food order right away. It made the meal feel rushed from the moment we arrived. The restaurant was virtually empty, but we were seated directly next to the bathroom. There were clearly plenty of other seating options available, which made that choice even more frustrating. Unfortunately, there was a noticeable bathroom odor from our table, which was really unpleasant and not what I would expect from a restaurant at this price point. Servers were also constantly going back and forth between the dining room and what seemed to be either a storage or cleaning area near the bathroom, so in addition to the odor, there was steady foot traffic throughout the meal. There were also papers or sugar packets underneath the table next to us, which added to the feeling that the dining room was not being carefully maintained. We ordered the paella, fig toast, and Calabrian flatbread. The food itself was fine in terms of flavor, but the rest of the experience made it feel understated and much less enjoyable than it should have been. The paella and toast came out quickly, and then we waited about 45 minutes for the flatbread. During that time, no one checked in, explained the delay, or asked how anything was. We honestly thought the flatbread had been forgotten. Then, after that long wait, the flatbread and dessert were brought out almost at the same time. The server explained that the kitchen was telling them to bring everything out at once. We had also ordered a bottle of Lambrusco, but it was not available, so we were given a different wine instead. Overall, the pacing and service felt very disorganized. We were rushed to order immediately, then largely ignored for the rest of the meal. No one asked how the food was, no one checked on the delay, and the timing of the final dishes made the meal feel chaotic rather than enjoyable. Even though the food was fine, the experience around it really took away from the meal. I also think there is a practical issue with the reservation timing. If the kitchen closes 15 minutes after the last available reservation, it does not make sense to offer a 15-minute grace period. Either the final seating should be earlier, or the kitchen should remain open long enough to properly serve guests who arrive within the stated reservation window. For a restaurant with Avant Garden's reputation and price point, I expected a much more thoughtful and polished experience. I wanted this to be a special birthday dinner, but we left feeling disappointed. I don't feel eager to return, and based on this visit, I would have a hard time recommending it to vegan friends.
