    The lasagna was very very impressive to me. All the vegetables were perfectly cooked. Neither undercooked and partially raw, nor over cooked and mushy. Great, full flavors too - something difficult with purely vegetarianized dishes.

    If you are likely to enjoy vegan food that conforms to Ayurvedic principles in an inviting setting, you should make your way to Divya's Kitchen. I have visited Divya's a dozen times over the years. The setting is serene. And service is always on point. Their mung soup is a bean soup that is perfect for wintry nights. And if none of the main dishes in the menu seem appealing to you, the custom bowl is an excellent alternative. I generally get the quinoa and wild rice base, combined with sunflower beet hummus beluga lentils, sweet potatoes and hot sauce. The date cardamom shake made with almond milk is a great complement. Divya's is part of an ecosystem that includes cooking classes and an upstairs yoga studio. But you won't go wrong simply visiting Divya's for the food.

    Lowk the food was mid asf. Like for an ethnic vegan restaurant you would think the food would be flavorful but no. The cucumber avocado salad was AMAZING. I would go back specifically for this. I also got the beet and hummus platter. Lowkey tasted like nothing and I could make it better at home. I got the veggie bowl with roasted vegetables and that was yummy but also just really bland and felt like something I could def make at home. Not worth it. The curry was BADDDD. Didn't taste like anything. Small portion. DO NOT GET. DO NOT GET THE DESERTS. The cake was dry asf and tasted dry and chalky. The pistachio fudge wasn't terrible but not worth it. You'd be better of going to the bodega across the street and getting a pint of ice cream for desert. The service was very nice. Good and friendly waiters. Good and friendly ambiance too, nice lighting, nice interior. But the food was not good. Would not really go back again, sorry!

    SERVICE - located on the intersection of 1st ave and Houston st - relatively easy to get a table on weekday evenings - ambiance good for a semi casual meal - servers were very welcoming and patient as we decided what to order MENU - Ayurvedic based selection of starters, salads, entrees, and drinks - all vegetarian, mostly vegan - slightly pricey ($25 per entree) FOOD - date almond shake (8/10): blended dates with house made almond milk and a touch of cardamom. This was a refreshing drink for a hot day. I was expecting it to be thicker but it feels like the texture of thin almond milk. - cashew vegetable curry (6/10): mixed vegetables in a coconut cashew curry with a lentil beet dal and rice. Our server recommended this as one of their more popular entrees. I was initially confused by the beet dal as it looked like a generous pour of tomato sauce. For a curry, it could have used more flavor and warming spices. I also would have liked the curry part to have a protein as it was not very filling. - vegan lasagna (9/10): brown rice pasta layered with sunflower mozzarella and roasted vegetables. This was the best dish out of the ones we ordered. The slice is a decent portion for one person. I liked the variety of vegetables on the inside, especially the broccoli. Similar to the dal, it would have been nice to have a protein in this. - chocolate rose mousse (4/10): whipped chocolate rose mousse. Texturally, this was spot on. It was light and fluffy yet rich enough to feel satisfying. The flavor had too much rose which battled the dark chocolate and ended up in a soap-like flavor on my tastebuds. - carob coconut cake (7/10): chocolate cake drizzled with a sauce and topped with coconut flakes. I was expecting this to be dense like a brownie but it ended up being crumbly and cake like. The flavor of this was enjoyable with the sauce providing richness that is cut by the sweet coconut. WOULD I GO BACK? Not likely. The service was great but the food was mediocre.

    This place is a 3.5/5 for me - good food but nothing I am DYING to have again. Everything definitely feels very healthy and good for the body which is the whole purpose of the restaurant. 3 of us shared an appetizer and two entrees and it was enough food. Here's what we got: Paneer Nori Rolls - good! Tastes exactly how it sounds! Paneer wrapped in nori, coated in a masala chickpea batter. I would skip if you don't like the taste of seaweed. Lasagna - Rich but didn't taste heavy! Lots of veggies and the béchamel sauce was good! The pesto was a great touch and definitely needed for flavor. It was a bit one note without it. Carrot Risotto - similar to the Lasagna in that it was rich and didn't feel heavy. But I also felt it lacked flavor and depended on the pesto for that. Both entrees pretty much tasted the same because of that. Overall, great place for some creative takes on different foods. Definitely good for people who are vegan or just trying to eat more heart healthy foods with lots of greens that are easy to digest. It is definitely on the pricer side so something to consider.

    From the minute you enter the space, you feel a cozy and relaxed vibe. Neutral earth tones are used all throughout the restaurant decor. It's simple but relaxed and it feels like you're eating in someone's home. The mission of this restaurant per the website, is to offer a healthy diet, a cleansing of your gut and how you eat. Every dish and ingredient is incredibly mindful, how it's made. Every detail exudes thoughtfulness and health for what you're about to consume. Organic and fresh ingredients only, waste not, want not. Aruvedaya is a centuries old way of life and knowledge. The belief here at Divya's is this tried and true way, keeps you at a healthy balance. Between the juices, teas, and soups -- all options stay true to the path. I'm always open to finding better vegetarian and vegan options when I dine out, especially with friends that are not carnivores. The menu here offers so many vegetable rich recipes and between the grains and pasta, you don't miss the meat. Love that about this menu. Must try: creamy vegetable soup - contains taro, broccoli, cauliflower and zucchini. It was light and creamy, so delicious. First taste was the broccoli coming through and then the richness of the cream without being heavy. It was the right balance in this bowl of comfort food. Paired with the buttermilk biscuit and it was a perfect match of flavors. I could eat those biscuits all day. For my entree, I ordered the vegetable lasagna (there's a vegan version too). Packed with layers of vegetables and thin pasta, it was a huge serving. Carrots were tender but still flavorful. The cheese was a little brown on top, and every vegetable was blended together with each mouthful. Totally recommend. My friend had the minestrone soup and that was a meal in itself. Barley, chickpea, taro, diced celery and carrots - plenty of ingredients in each spoonful. Paired with the most excellent basil-parsley pesto I've ever had. That was the best pesto!!. And very generous on the basil. Even the olive oil was fantastic. I wish I could bottle that. For my friend's entree, she ordered the vegetable curry. There's two kinds of curry on the plate, one brown and one yellow, with rice separating the two. Beautiful presentation. This place is a must try!

    Overall the restaurant is a nice, healthy vegetarian option in the East Village that is very accommodating toward dietary requirements (including gluten-free, nut free, dairy-free). I had the vegan lasagna which was made with brown-rice pasta as well as the avocado dip. Both were very fresh, the lasagna was not traditional but definitely tasted healthy and had many interesting textures. Both dishes were well presented. The restaurant doesn't serve alcohol but has a range of non-alcoholic wines sourced. The ambience is very relaxing and relatively quiet, the service was friendly but slightly haphazard. Overall it was a nice restaurant but you should know that is it is intended to be a healthier experience upfront before going so you're not disappointed.

    The restaurant was so beautiful and clean! The staff were so kind and friendly. I really enjoyed the service and the food here. Their cake is soooo good! I thought all of their dishes were flavorful! It exceeded my expectations!

    Was skeptical about this place since I do like non-vegetarian meals for maximum satiety but was still interested in giving Divya's a shot a) because my friend chose this place for his birthday dinner, and b) I was intrigued by the concept of nourishment through Ayurvedic practices in place. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. While we were a large group and tried a plethora of menu options, my top picks were: Spinach Paneer Cutlet (5/5): my favorite appetizer of the night that paired really well with the sauces that came with it. Vegetarian Lasagna (4/5): the portions were great and flavors were indulgent as you would want from a lasagna but all while feeling nourished. Custom Bowl: for this I chose the Seared Paneer for protein (5/5), roasted veggies cooked to perfection (5/5), the lentils (4/5), quinoa and wild rice (4/5). The Carob Cake (5/5) was my favorite of the three desserts we tried, and the Pineapple Halwa was a close second (4/5), while the Pecan Cookie was auite alright (3/5). Other items we tried: Curry Bowl (3/5), Coconut Chips (4/5), Sunflower Mozzarella appetizer (3/5), Paneer Nori Rolls (3/5). The service, calming music and vibes, and the carob cake were the highlights of the night.

    Made reservations for a table of 6 for 7:15 pm on a Saturday night, and the place was fully packed. Nice, cozy set-up with some soft music in the background and noise levels at average is how I'd describe the ambiance at Divya's Kitchen. The menu is very inspired by Ayurdeva and focused on Dosha's (The five elements combined in pairs to form the three bodily humours) - but I couldn't quite translate/figure out how the food combinations contributed to the dosha's. Food overall is very much on the sweeter side, which my biggest disappointment. We ordered a few small bits which consisted on Spiced Coconut Chips, Spinach-Cheese Cutlets, Paneer Nori Rolls, and Roasted Sweet Potatoes. The table enjoyed Chips and the Paneer Nori Rolls were my favorite. The Roasted Sweet Potatoes went really well with their spicy green chutney - which was my absolute favorite of the evening! I was having chutney shots towards the end of my meal! For mains, the winner was the Season Kitchari ($18 + $6 Paneer Protein) - packed with flavor, followed by Vegetable Curry in Cashew Sauce ($21). I got the Carrot Risotto ($21 + $6 Paneer) - which was disappointingly on a sweeter side, but filling enough in terms of portion size. The sauteed leafy greens were forgettable, but the basil-parsley pesto was packed with flavor. The extra protein we ordered for Kitchari and Risotto again was on the sweeter side - quite disappointing. Service was absolutely excellent, attentive and friendly staff. Overall, we had a good experience, but might not return again. A definite one time try if you like a modern take on Indian food, on the sweeter side.

    They don't serve alcoholic drinks, only shakes, sodas, limeades, non-alcoholic spirit restoratives, hot and chilled decaffeinated drinks and herbal teas (non-caffeinated). Unsure about the BYOB.

    Is this restaurant completely gluten-free?

    Divya's Kitchen is not completely gluten-free, but many menu items are. The menu is clearly labeled with GF for all gluten-free items.

    Says they accept Apple Pay on the Yelp app but I just wanted to see if anyone could verify if they in fact do?

For our entrees we ended up on Lamb, and the staff recommended the Achar Gosht and the Kadai Gosht. Both were so good! Lamb was tender, it was overall super filling and paired well with the aloo paratha! I can't wait to eat my leftovers! Mughlai Grill is even better than I remember and I can't wait to come back! I will be recommending it to everyone!

I feel there are certain standards in the NYC service industry given the competition, and this was a confusing and unacceptable experience. The food was admittedly good, but not good enough for them to have the attitude they had.
