I was passed to the manager who handled the situation in the most unprofessional way. I explained the issue to him, and he insisted that my torta today had the same amount of meat, beans, and cheese as always. I disagreed with him, and he responded angrily, "Everybody makes mistakes!" He raised his voice and repeated it a couple of times. It was completely bizarre that he chose to speak to me as if I was the one who'd done something wrong. It's very childish to do a subpar job and then get upset and frustrated when you're called on it. An adult apologizes and pledges to not blow it again. Anyhow, I don't tolerate disrespectful people so I'm done. I won't spend another penny there.

I don't know what it turns out looking like... They didn't charge me for the meal. His service was mediocre but still gave him a decent tip. You tell me what it looks like. I was nauseous and disgusted all night and to this day. UNBELIEVABLE!

The 3 miniature, skinny filets of fish were a joke. I'm sure the cooks were laughing as they made it. When I opened up the container, my first thought was that they forgot the fish. I had to dig up under all the cabbage to find the minuscule pieces. They should be ashamed. Again, this was very bland just like everything else. 2/10 Salsas: Red-only heat, no flavor. Green-watered down, no flavor, the limes had more flavor than the green salsa. Pineapple-bland, but was the only one that had a bit of flavor. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. This place will go on my NEVER AGAIN list, which is sad because I love to support small businesses, especially vegan/vegetarian ones.

The staff working the day I came in were kind, patient, and quick with orders. The establishment itself is a counter service type of spot. They have tables inside and a nice size patio area in front of the restaurant to enjoy some outdoor seating. I'm thrilled to have found Taco Shack and will definitely be stopping by again to try more items off of their menu. When we came today, we watched an employee wipe down all of the outside tables using the same rag. At one point she unfolded/extended the rag and it was literally black from how dirty it was. Seeing that same rag being used from table to table honestly made us uncomfortable and didn't seem hygienic at all. We like coming here, so hopefully they can pay a little more attention to cleanliness and consistency with the food because those small things really do make a difference.

... Is there a more powerful word than horrible? If there is that is the service we received at this restaurant. My boyfriend and I love to explore new restaurants and different types of food,. At the beginning of the year I bought a book of coupons for restaurants, and activity places. Well on Friday we planned a date night in Redlands, diner, movies and few drinks afterwards. We found a coupon for Oscar's restaurants which was really close to the movie theater and the bars we were going for drinks. Got dressed up and arrived to the restaurant at 6.40pm. A teenager greeted us (if that is called greet), she look like she had really bad cramps and didn't want to be at work, told us "sit there" pointing to a table next to the entrance. We sat there and waited for a waiter; 10 minutes after we arrived FINALLY a waited showed up to take our drinks.. After looking at the menu we notice they had on their white board next to the entrance some Mahi mahi specials, there were some tacos, salad and grill mahi mahi with vegetables so we both selected the grilled mahi mahi special and waited another 15 minutes for the waiter to take our order. When the waiter Finally showed up after talking to another employee at the bar we told him we had the coupon to make sure it was still valid. He said no problem. We waited for another 30 minutes for our food, during that time we inhale the chips and salsa (which tasted old and the salsa was refrigerated for days, I know that because my mom does salsa almost everyday) on our table and expected someone to check on us since our drinks were almost gone and the chips were long gone, but nobody showed, they were too busy in the bar chatting since most of the boots in the restaurant were empty. After a little over 30 minutes the food arrived, on a small plate with 2 small fish sticks ( I would say the dims of the pieces of fish were an inch by half inch), the fish had no taste and The vegetables were burn on the sides with no flavor. I actually told my boyfriend we were being punked because a $10 plate doesn't have those portions of food. I did notice the employees in the bar were looking at us an kind of giggle. The waiter never went back to our table to see how our food was tasting but when he was taking the next table orders I told my boyfriend that I didn't know we order the kids meal and laughed, the waiter looked puzzled since he need to asked the person who was ordering the food to repeat it. I wanted to talk to the manager and make a big deal about it but my bf just paid and we left. We seriously think because we had the coupon they splitted a normal order into two so they wouldn't loose money; isn't if they give out coupons is because they want people to go and try their food and go back in the future? Well we are never going back, they ruin my date night and actually the movie we watched.. I was so upset the whole weekend I kept waking up thinking of what I wanted to tell them and do.. Rating: (5/5 Stars) An absolute haven after a rough day--thank you, Liz! After enduring a grueling 8.5-hour workday where I was completely overwhelmed and unfairly blamed for things outside of my control, I desperately needed a reset. I rarely go out to eat on ordinary days, but tonight called for comfort, a strong margarita, and some peace of mind. I'm so glad I found Oscar's Mexican Restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the small, cozy atmosphere and authentic decor make you feel right at home. We were greeted and taken care of by Liz, who was working hard as both the server and bartender for the area. Despite managing multiple tables and cleaning tables by herself, her service was nothing short of exceptional. I mentioned to her that I was having a really rough day, and her genuine kindness, empathy, and attentiveness immediately melted the stress away. I ordered a Cadillac margarita along with appetizers, guacamole, and dinner. Every single detail of our order was followed to absolute perfection--which is a huge relief since my 17-year-old can be quite a picky eater! The food was delicious, the drinks were amazing, and Liz checked in on us consistently before our food, during our drinks, and all through the meal. Having worked in food service and kitchen management myself in the past, I know how hard restaurant staff work and how often their dedication gets overlooked. People forget that hospitality workers are human beings who deal with a lot, yet Liz brought pure warmth and top-tier professionalism to every table she touched. As someone who recently moved to the area, finding a place with such wonderful food and heartfelt customer care means the world. Servers and bartenders like Liz deserve massive recognition, employee of the month nods, and raises because they truly make a difference for people seeking comfort at the end of a hard day. This was my favorite Mexican restaurant until now. We last visited on 2/17/2019, I really don't like to eat out and disasters like this are partly the reason. This time, Wednesday, September 7, 2022, our waitress was Marissa, she was the best part of this very disappointing experience. To start off, the salsa was spicy, the way I like it, but was very bland. I ordered my usual, the Chile Verde dinner, no rice, double beans w/corn tortillas. For the first time, I did not enjoy anything. The Chile Verde, beans, and tortillas were also very bland. Marissa was a jewel and did everything she could to make things better. She even sought to at least give us a discount but the manager would not approve since we were taking the food with us. My wife, Chef Ann, and I (Chez Gordy) are both cooks, we also have an outreach ministry, Friends In Need. So, we would rather give the food to a homeless person than let them toss it. Needless to say, I will not waste money eating here again. My apologies to Marissa, I did not leave a tip since the food was so terrible and I did not have cash, I am sorry! On Friday night me and my girlfriend wanted a nice dinner before we went to the movies. We remembered we had a coupon for Oscars and we have never been there before. So we got there around 6:40 and were sat down right away by a fairly rude waitress. It took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our drink order. The beer was the only good thing that meal. It then took another 15 minutes to have someone come take our food order, and the restaurant was not that busy all the workers were in the bar area just talking. We decided to each order the Mahi Mahi grilled special. It took almost half an hour to get our food and our first impression was "is this it." The plate was covered in grilled vegetables and 2 very small pieces of fish. The vegetables tasted old like they were cooked the day before. And the fish was dry and under flavored. We were both still hungry when we left.We will never go back to this restaurant. read more

I love Oscars!!!! All around best restraunt. I am a regular here. Go at least twice a week. I like that the girls and Daniel remember my order and it always taste amazing. its always clean and they even bring my dogs a little bowl of ice water when i take them outside with me to have lunch. the owners are great and the prices and food are too. when I do decide to tie the knot, I am 100% going to be having them cater my wedding I love them that much. I am addicted to their salsa!!!! and their ahi!!! Taco Tuesdays are awesome and since I am pesketerian and the people I go with are vegetarian it is awesome they now have soy riso!!! Disappointing Dining Experience I recently dined at Oscars, and unfortunately, my experience was less than satisfactory. While some of the food was enjoyable, I encountered a significant issue with the rice, which was served frozen. This oversight was disappointing and detracted from the overall meal. Additionally, the wait time was excessive, clocking in at an hour and 55 minutes. Given the quality of the food and the lengthy wait, I left feeling that my time could have been better spent elsewhere. In fact, I believe I would have had a more satisfying meal at Del Taco. Overall, I cannot recommend Oscars based on this experience. I hope they can improve their service and food quality in the future. read more

The food here is extremely meh. Just not at all worth dealing with the horrible owners and managers. I came here with my gf and our poor server was getting in trouble for allowing us to add potatoes to our order. They've recently shrunken their portions and begun charging more as well as charging for chips and salsa on to go orders.. because "when you're here you're a guest but not when you order to go" . This place sucks and when my gf tried to comment on their Instagram her comment was deleted! Not sure why we return here....other than it's convenient. The food is okay...the service ~ let's just say, less than descent. You never know what mood the servers will be in, and if you'll see them again once they deliver your food. They have a shrimp and avocado salad that is pretty good, and the chips and salsa are pretty tasty. Just wish the owners/managers would provide some customer service to their staff. read more

CHILE VERDE PORK. It's hands-down the best Mexican meat in Redlands. It's flavorful, insanely tender, just the right amount of spicy, and Oscar's NEVER skimps on it. Pro tip - put it on the deluxe nachos instead of carne asada. You'll never order anything else. Ok, my only complaints about this place are it is a little small inside, so it can get cramped and sometimes it's also hard to find parking...But the excellent food is easily enough to make up for it and still get it 5 stars... Mexican restaurants are aplenty in So Cal, some good and some not so good. Oscar's is definitely one of the better ones. read more

Awesome place with great food. If you are in downtown Redlands you have to eat here. They are open 7 days a week too so don't pay attention to the hours posted on the page. The bar is almost as awesome as the staff. Try some of their ultimate Margaritas - they will not disappoint. They also carry Hangar 24 beers, another Redlands must. read more

We've been customers for years and have always enjoyed the food, which is why this was so…read moredisappointing. From the moment our server (tall skinny guy with tattoos) came to our table, he was rude, dismissive, and acting strange. We are understanding people who have worked as servers and in hospitality previously and decided to remain polite, give him the benefit of the doubt, and attempt to still enjoy our dinner. However, it progressively got worse. He repeatedly cut us off while we were speaking, made sarcastic and strange remarks, rushed us to order drinks, skipped over my sister in law, rolled his eyes multiple times, shouted "if you were listening you would have heard me say I'm bringing water for everyone" very rudely when someone asked for a water, and then didn't return to take our food order for almost 30 minutes after he brought our drinks. When he did return, he was again being rude. It got to the point where he was actually making us feel uncomfortable and we asked if everything was okay and explained that his behavior felt disrespectful. We requested a different server, but instead of addressing our concerns, he began arguing with us, raised his voice, said, "can I trade you guys out" then he abruptly walked away... At that point, we decided to get up and go to the front to pay for our drinks and leave. We explained the situation to the manager, who offered personal reasons for the employee's behavior. While we sympathize with anyone going through a difficult time, we don't feel it's an excuse to treat customers poorly when they have been polite and respectful and put up with his poor behavior longer than we should've have in the first place. As we were speaking with the manager he was nearby and saying weird things under his breath again. While we were walking out after paying with the manager, the server continued shouting at us and saying rude things across the restaurant. He even asked my brother in law if he was trying to fight while we were walking out... we didn't say anything to retaliate and left the restaurant to find another spot for dinner. We had a small child with us and he was acting erratically, so just wanted to share a tale of caution. I am not sure why they decided to go in this direction (cost savings?), but it's not the same. I preferred the way it was before.

We were also served unlimited chips and salsa, both of which tasted fresh and homemade, a really nice touch. The only downside -- and it was significant -- was the speed of service. While the staff was friendly, the wait was unexpectedly long, especially considering it wasn't busy. That gives me pause about coming back during peak hours. That said, if you're not in a rush, the food is absolutely worth it. Everything we tried was on point. Just bring your patience -- or maybe get the food to-go at Artegas #1.

In Los Angeles this spot would be considered pretty good, but for Redlands its great. I hope Fred eventually leaves the Food Hall and opens a full blown spot in town. Or maybe have both.
