Tastier and fresher than I was expecting. What they lack in decor, they make up for in quality of most of their food. Ordered their asada plate and was pleased. Meat was marinated and spiced with a heavy hand but kind of in a good way. I liked the flavors. Served with guacamole; yum! I was waiting for a tire repair just next door when I realized I was getting hungry! Walked here because it was the closest thing and man was that a nice little find. I got the California burrito and it was really well balanced. For those who are uninitiated the California burrito is meat, sour cream, guacamole, and French fries crammed with a few other odds and ends into a tortilla. They found a balance in those ingredients that is really hard to pull off. Other places tend to put too much guac to the point where it's gushing in your mouth with every bite. Sometimes the fries are soggy or there is too much sour cream. These guys managed to get the fries crispy, and the guac and sour cream was even through the whole burrito. The vibe is very different from your normal taco shop. It looks like a cross between a 1950s diner and a taco joint. I would've loved to have loved this place, but I specifically asked for no cheese or sour cream since I'm dairy intolerant, but there's cheese all over the beans and potatoes and the tortilla chips and there was a huge glob of sour cream, not shown in the picture, they see some of the sour cream. Absolutely great authentic Mexican food. Not like Rosa Maria's, their hot sauce is really good and not watered down. The carne asada tacos are the best. So my husband was in the hospital this last week... and we wanted some hot food... so I tried going to the restaurant off of California but it said they were closed, so I call the number and it said they were serving food out of this location, so I placed an order for pickup and had my dad pick it up and drop it off at the hospital. We got two breakfast burritos and pozole. The burritos were decent... but I have had better honestly and bigger. But the pozole however was actually really good. The price was a bit more expensive for what it was but the pozole made up for it I guess. But all that was $50 with tip... but anyways... it was a sad situation why we went... but I would try again on a better occasion... While waiting for my car to be serviced , I stopped at Huicho's . I wasn't too hungry so a breakfast platter or breakfast burrito would be too much food for me. I asked if they made breakfast tacos because I didn't see it on the menu . She told me she could make me breakfast tacos . She offered suggestions for the breakfast tacos and I was able to tell her what I wanted. She gave me a choice of flour or corn tortillas; I chose flour this time . And if I wanted them with ranchero sauce , I chose a salsa verde .The breakfast tacos were great! I love how courteous, friendly and accommodating they are! They got three stars from me because of taste but the portions are so small it's definitely not worth coming back. I've always enjoyed their food and reviewed it as such, but now I'll have to find somewhere else from now on. I always ask for double meat and the burrito has always been a very nice size. We were here in the afternoon and there was only another couple there. The parking lot was full though so u might have trouble finding parking. Their bathroom is outside too btw. Anyway we ordered the Chile relleno plate, Chile relleno a la carte, and the tripas burrito. The food came out quickly, big portions. The Chile relleno was good and the tripas tasted ok. There was more rice than meat in the burrito. The total for the food was expensive. It was like 70$ for two chile rellenos, the burrito, and three drinks. The drinks are 5.49 and 5.99 for the agua frescas and you don't get a refill. I've never seen them so expensive anywhere except Cardenas but they give you a giant cup at Cardenas and these were small cups. They also charge 4% for cards so bring cash. It was a 2.50$ charge for a card but she didn't say anything before we paid and there's no sign anywhere-I noticed it on the receipt later. The food wasn't good enough to come back because it was too expensive. Oh and I almost forgot-they charged us 1.50$ for a tiny cup of sour cream!!! I had the two shrimp taco plare. It comes with beans and rice. It was very good. I asked for the hottest sauce. Use the cream sauce on the tacos and definitely squeeze that lemon. A long-time occupant of this 50s interior diner that probably was a burger stand 50 years ago, Huicha's is solid Mexican food with fresh soups and aqua frescas available daily. While they don't make their own tortillas it really doesn't detract from the solid delivery. Conveniently, Slow-Bloom Coffee is located next door and shares the parking lot with the restaurant being reviewed. Walking in the nice lady greeted us and asked for a moment since she was in the middle of filling cups for salsa to-go. Since it was our first visit we needed more time to decide what we'd sample. She went for all carne asada tacos, street style, and I wanted a wet burrito with shredded beef. There's a choice of salsa verde or rioja for that and an additional $1.50. All said and done, that surcharge is worth it! We sat in one of the old booths and I thought the aged red checker tiles looked cool and it fit the family vibe. A nice guy delivered our food from the back and we dived in. I got full from my meal. I loved the moist, nicely seasoned shredded beef, that'd make killer hard tacos for sure! The carne asada was fresh and well marinated too. We loved the additional salsa verde from the squeeze bottle. Then, we plotted what we're ordering next time. I think al pastor and carnitas need to be explored, and possibly some abondagas soup. As noted, nothing fancy but it's a great family establishment and having the equivalent of reincarnated Angie's next door... well, a double-dip is recommended highly. read more

I understand the economy and all but what these people charge for what you get is absolutely shameless!!!! 3.49 for a street taco (smallest tortilla ) that's bad enough. 14.00 dollars for an all meat burrito sounds reasonable IF you were getting your money's worth I just ordered 2 burritos which came up to over 30 dollars with taxes and other stuff 4 items was 51 dollars. If the portions were the size of a 14 dollar burrito this would be a 5 star review. Enjoy it while it lasts Huichos. This way if doing bussines will eventually catch up with you. I know sales are good because it's always busy. But at some point the balance is going to tip the opposite way. None of this is anybody's fault by mine for placing the order. Good to have known you. The breakfast burrito lacked flavor, even after adding ranchero sauce to the steak and egg burrito. The potatoes were flavorless and mushy, which does not compliment the texture to a breakfast burrito. Our salsa had an odd smell and flavor to it, kind of an old vegetable smell. I was craving tacos on Tuesday, and haven't been here in a few months so I decided to get some takeout Togo. Food has always been great so I was excited to take home my order and devour it. Service was fast and friendly but the food did not taste like how I remembered it tasting. Ordered 6 al pastor 6 carnitas street tacos and an order of fries. The tacos totally shrank from how they used to be. Hardly any meat on it. The carnitas was super dry, and the al pastor was like a mushy consistency. Sad to say that the fries were the best part. Spending over $30 bucks for 12 tacos and fries on a "special" taco Tuesday got me sad. Came across Huicho's Tacos several years ago while working in Redlands. With all honesty, it typically would have been a place I would have driven right by. I even had my reservations pulling up to the parking lot for the first time many years ago. However, if there's one piece of advice I can offer...don't judge this book by its cover. The food is fantastic! Personally one of my favorite spots in Redlands when I'm in the mood for Mexican food. Located on Colton Avenue, Huicho's Tacos occupies a stand-alone establishment with plenty of free parking for customers. It is a quick-service type of set up to order food, though they have a few seats for customers to sit and eat their food in shop. I recently came by after several years of being away from Redlands, and everything from the service to the food was just as good as I remember. My husband and I were warmly greeted upon entering and the lady working the register was so kind and patient as we asked a million questions to finalize our order. Though they were a little busy while we were there, the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. Totally worth the wait as our meal was warm, fresh, and tasty! We ordered several tacos and a chicken quesadilla to go. All were great, but my favorite had to be the Carne Asada tacos. The Carne Asada was tender and flavorful. All tacos were PACKED with their respective proteins. Generous and well-worth the price. Our only gripe was that our chicken quesadilla (though tasty) was still loaded with bones from the chicken. One or two, we could have shrugged it off, but it seemed like every piece of the quesadilla had 5+ little bones in them. The enjoyment of eating the quesadilla was consumed with a focus for fishing out bones with each bite. Luckily, the tacos made up for it exponentially. Though I will probably steer away from their chicken quesadilla in the future, Huicho's Tacos is still my favorite place for tacos in Redlands. If you're in town or close by and deciding whether to give them a try...go for it! Looking forward to my next visit. read more
