This is a terrific All-Vegan Mexican fast-casual restaurant (order at the counter). The owner (who will probably be the one that takes your order) is very friendly and nice. He fondly remembered us from our previous visits (over a year ago!) and greeted us warmly! The food here is outstanding, even better than I remembered from last year. I grew up in Southern California (when I was not Vegan), and BZ Taco has all of the bright color, texture and punch of flavor that I remember from all my favorite SoCal Mexican restaurants! The portions are generous, with serve-your-own Pickled Onions, Jalapeños and Salsas on the counter. On this visit, I had the BZ Torta which is their signature Carnitas Torta cradled in their pillowy-soft Telera Bread. An incredible sandwich! The harmonious textures and flavors of the Bread, Vegetables and Carnitas danced with every bite. My cousin ordered the Fish Tacos and inhaled it like it was his last meal! We shared the BZ Nachos (Al Pastor). Last time, we had the BZ Esquite Fries, and as good as the Fries were, the BZ Nachos took this mixed bowl concept to another level. not the best vegan mexican food i've had.. i've tried their birria tacos, pozole, torta and albóndigas. the only thing i've liked was the torta, it was very light and tasted just how i remember tortas de asada. both soups i've tried, especially the albóndigas, was very very bland. i put salt, all the toppings, salsa and still wasn't a fan. the birria tacos too, the "protein" was like these shreds of ?? idk it wasn't like jackfruit, tbh i couldn't even tell was it was lol. even tho nothing i've tried has left a great impression, i still would try a couple of items that i haven't but if that is also mid then i probably won't be back after. read more

Been going here when I get a craving for Mexican. Since I don't eat lard, I know this plant-based place is all good for me to eat. The food is always delicious and good serving size. The owner is very nice...even though it was 7:17pm (closes at 7pm), he invited us in and said they are staying open later for the summer months. The flavors and textures were that good. My wife ordered the 3 taco plate with al pastor, asada, and chicken. I went with the fish taco plate. The al pastor and asada were the standouts for us. Super flavorful, juicy, and honestly satisfying enough to make you forget it's plant-based. The fish taco had great flavor too, though the texture was a little firmer than what I normally like. Not bad at all, just personal preference. Also, do NOT skip the salsa de pina and sweet pickled onions. That combo on the tacos was ridiculously good. Just woah! I have passed by this place several times but finally had a chance to try it! Service was amazing and they made us feel very welcomed! I got my food to go since I was running late but even after letting things sit until lunchtime everything was incredible!! The vegan pozole tasted so traditional and came with all the fixings including tostadas. The torta was soft and very filling as well as very flavorful! Fairly sodium-forward because it's plant based meat and flavors are all a little similar and one-dimensional, so definitely add the salsas and lime! Rice is pretty good, beans are a little salty too. Okay, while I'm not a vegetarian guy, I appreciate all the health benefits of eating vegetarian. There are several studies about the Blue Zones, BZ, and their quality of health life and longevity. At BZ Taco, I was hard pressed to taste that this wasn't real meat inside our fried tacos and burrito. We picked up our order to go. We started with the Quesabirria. This is basically 2 fried tacos with a generous side of consumme (beef tasting dipping au jus). As you can see in the tacos' pic, they were fried but not crispy, deep fried. And you can see the generous amount of "beef". The "beef" had the requisite texture and chew of good qualify beef - I won't be asking "where's the beef?" (This is a generational fast food TV ad - it's funny, if you haven't seen it.) The consumme is runny but added a nice additionally bit of "beef" flavor (tip: this taco becomes messy after dipping, so plan ahead). We also had a "meat" burrito. This was a larger sized burrito and also had good textured artificial meat. The tortilla was good - the right amount of chew and resistance to sogginess. We liked what we ate. The natural Mexican flavors made the vegetarian "meats" tasty. read more

After a friend recently texted me a photo of this newly opened plant based Mexican restaurant, I knew I had it visit it immediately. Upon arrived the restaurant, I liked that it had outdoor seating available. Once inside, hubby and I were warmly greeted by one of the restaurant owners and felt relaxed by upbeat and rhythmic music playing in the background. While I looked at the menu, hubby shared with the male restaurant owner that he had a nut allergy and the owner replied only the horchata contains peanuts. Hubby also asked about the sauces for their taquitos and the owner replied that the taquitos come with green sauce, red sauce, or pineapple salsa. After looking at the menu packet available at the restaurant counter, I ordered a vegan chicken quesadilla and a vegan fish taco while hubby ordered a vegan asada burrito. Our food arrive quickly and hubby was surprised by how large and filling the burrito was. Although hubby is vegetarian (and they had traditional cheese available to put in his burrito if he asked,) he said he preferred the BZ vegan asada burrito without any cheese over his regular Chipotle's sofritas burrito. My vegan quesadilla was large and flavorful especially accompanied by salsa, lettuce, guacamole, and vegan creama. The vegan fish taco was perfectly sized and I was surprised that dispute it having house made chipotle sauce, it didn't set my mouth on fire. My vegetarian friend picked this place for her birthday outing to accommodate me, the vegan problem in the group, lol I'm so glad she did! Super clean inside. Pretty decorations. And the food! She and I split an order of the Taquitos Dorados (potato taquitos) and Quesabirria tacos. She got a horchata and I got an iced caramel coffee. Everything was scrumptious! It was our first time at this location. It is in a very cute plaza seems like close to downtown Redlands. It was really nice and clean inside, and the owner (I think he was the owner) Carlos was very friendly and welcoming. He was helpful with all questions I had about the menu as a first timer here. The food was amazing. We tried a couple different things and loved all of them so we couldn't pick a favorite lol. The horchata was delicious, followed by fish tacos and those were crisp, fresh, a bit tangy and spicy. The taco plate that comes with beans and rice is also very tasty( I picked asada, guisada, and al pastor). The quesobirria was also to die for, and you can't even tell it was made with jackfruit. I ordered a burrito with asada meat and it was decent. It was filling, but it tasted a little bland. I will give this place another chance. I think they have quality food. Their service was very friendly and super fast for a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. Inside they have a good amount of seating. I wouldn't go with a large party of 10 or more though. I've been eating here for a hot minute but I'm finally able to take a minute to leave a review! The Pozole and the Fish Taco are my fave! But that is not the only thing great on the menu! I'm just a creature of habit and those are what I love and want to order constantly what I've tried has been delicious so far :) The owner is amazing and the first time I came in she and her husband were there and it was slow so we could talk a bit about what inspired the opening of the shop etc. and it was the first time I'd ever been able to try Pozole because I'm vegetarian and it's amazing and now it's a huge comfort craving and this one is amazing highly recommend! And the everyone I've interacted with that works here has been so kind and will explain things if needed and the salsas are incredible as well! I order via DoorDash or come in to the shop :) The shop when I come in is usually quieter but I work remote so I come in at odd hours outside of dinner time. This is only the second fully vegan Mexican restaurant we ever been to. The menu has a wide variety available including vegan horchata. I had a burrito and hubby had the meatball Mexican soup. Due to a health condition, I was advised by my doctors to switch to become vegan if I want to keep my kidneys. As I make this transition, I'm finding extremely difficult. I've tried some various recipes and I'm starting to adjust, however; not always having the opportunity to prepare meals for ourselves means we have to stop at some restaurants. I was in the Redlands area and my girlfriend googled vegan restaurants. This place came up on our radar. I have to say, the food is delicious. I don't often give a five stars, however this place deserves it for several reasons. The food is fresh, the environment is clean, the restauranteur is very welcoming and friendly. The restroom was immaculate, many places these days don't even offer a restroom. This place offered it, and as I went to use it, the restroom was clean, the soap was filled, there were tail, gaskets, and hot water to wash with. I'm very pleased to give this place my highest recommendation, if you're in the mood for vegan, Mexican food, I highly recommend BZ Taco, even if you are a meat eater. read more

Another amazing vegan gem found in the city of Redlands !! My family and I were coming down the mountain from big bear and were in the mood for something vegan and found this place . Best vegan mexican food we've had in a long time !! It's small and would not have found it if it wasn't for it being on my map on our phone but they are very friendly and clean . Rosa the owner and head cook even came out and greeted us , was very nice . Delia the cashier was so nice and patient with my wife as she was so exited to try everything . As a vegetarian, it can be hard to find exciting Mexican food. I miss street tacos so badly! But yesterday, I was able to enjoy them again at Bz Taco! I got the fish taco and the taco plate with al pastor, guisada, and chickin. Everything was amazing, flavorful, and authentic. I ate past the point of fullness because I didn't want to stop! The rice and beans that came with the taco plate were also delicious, and I loved all the salsas (the red was especially good). I had jamaica to wash it all down--so refreshing and not too sweet.
