Mr. Taco in Redlands is now on my regular rotation. Miyana was at the counter when I walked in and greeted me like I'd been coming for years. Made the whole place feel welcoming right away. The steak and eggs hit the spot. tender, well-seasoned steak, eggs made how I asked, and warm tortillas on the side. The chile relleno was the standout for me. Chips came out hot and the salsas had real flavor, not just heat. You can tell they're made fresh. Restaurant was really clean too, which I always appreciate. Everything we ordered was solid. "Mexican" food made without the soul. I went here one time years ago when I first moved to Redlands and the first experience was enough for me not to return my family was more forgiving than me and went two more times to report the same. If you want subpar Mexican food in a hot, uncomfy and loud setting this is your place! The chips were obviously bought off the shelf, same with the chicharrón and the salsa was definitely from a can (and if it wasn't they can't make salsa ) The food itself was below average, served with dry rice. I implore you, there's so many better options both in Redlands and surrounding areas, don't waste your money here. My boyfriend is from East LA, I know bad Mexican food when I taste it. I literally live right by here, drive by it every day to go home, and I will actively drive to any other Mexican restaurant in the area. Don't settle. Where would I recommend instead? Heck even rubios first (just kidding but no really) 1. Taqueria El Tacocho- cheap, good authentic street style Mexican (just don't expect a glam dining room) 2. La Popular- still has great train views, still has an outdoor patio, still is a little on the less authentic side, but at least uses higher quality ingredients and has better tasting food / salsa. 3. Took my friends here from out of town. Server was nice. Food was ok but michelada was good. At time of payment she asked if we're splitting or 1 check. I asked for itemed receipt and she said "here it's on the screen" it appeared correct but I still wanted a copy so my friends and I can discuss later. I told her I needed a minute to review so I can decide what tip amount I wanted to give. She didn't give me the privacy most restaurants give. She then brought receipt and then we noticed she added an extra drink & michelada. She then claimed someone else added it. The way she explained the "refund" was confusing. First time here and the food isn't that bad they have a good variety and overall looks good, food wise. Service was friendly no issues there they have chips and salsa to take advantage of which is a great touch, including lemons However, the place doesn't look as clean as you would like, where the bathrooms are at don't look the best and that's a big indicator so I was a little hesitant, but this place was recommended by someone I went with. Mr taco did it again! I've gone twice this week! They have changed a bit since I've been last time. Now they serve you at the tables when you dine in. So much better now! As i waked in was greeted with a big smile. I ordered machaca and coffee. Chips and guacamole salsa was really good. Coffee was hot, got creamer and sugar. I am incredibly disappointed with both the food quality and the management here. I ordered chicken tacos and a bean and cheese burrito. The tacos were served cold and dry, and halfway through the burrito, I discovered a hair cooked into it. When I requested to speak with a manager at the restaurant, no one bothered to come out. I paid my bill and later emailed corporate/management directly. They gave a brief reply saying they would look into it, but they have completely ignored my follow-up emails since. Ambiance 10/10 IF it's a temperate day. All covered patio seating. This was my least favorite Mexican restaurant and I search out Mexican restaurants and drive to experience them. This food was not good. Smothered in a sauce that tasted vaguely sour and everything on the plate tasted the same, except the orange rice. I can't call it Spanish rice because it was orange and bland. The taco meat didn't seem seasoned either, but the Cisco Foods Supplier taco shell was soaked in that sauce, yet tore apart like soggy cardboard. It was anything but "crispy." Today I was really excited to order some caldo de res because it's cold and I was under the weather. I called and asked the really nice person on the phone and she said they require cards over the phone for phone orders. I couldn't reach my purse to grab my card and I was hesitant to give my card over the phone so I said I was 5 minutes away and that I would come in and order. She said it shouldn't take long because they just need to heat it up. When I walked in the place was clean besides chips on the floor from people spilling. Once I got there I was able to walk in and order a large soup that came to $18. Unfortunately it took 40 minutes for them to bring the order out for me to take home. My husband ordered soft tacos with various meat option while I had the tasty Surf & Turf Burrito which I found quite a lot of shrimp and Asada in it. What threw me off is the Michelada! None of the food has flavor and the Asada was chewy when we went. The Al pastor had a funny old meat smell. We just didn't eat it. The quesabirria meat was a little dry. The guac had no flavor. The food was good I ordered a campachana and a drink! but I will not be going back. I went to the register and ordered my food and told the waitress/lady at the register i was going to dine in she charged me and gave me a small paper plate for my chips the food came out quick and was very good. But then i noticed the 2 people in front of me and behind me she grabbed a basket and filled it up with chips and did not charge them until they were finished. I noticed this because she passed by me multiple times giving them full service even refilling their drink. This is not the first time it happened I also went a couple weeks ago and same outcome with the service. I don't know what it is but i was receiving no service at all not even a thank you when I left. The food I ordered was one of their more expensive items on the menu plus I was being polite and respectful. I visited on a Saturday night and although it was really busy we got seated immediately. All the staff is really friendly and the ambiance is really inviting. I got the quesabirrias and a michelada. Breakfast bacon burrito with potatoes was so disgusting. It smelled terrible and when I spit it out, I had a weird taste in my mouth. My friend suggested Mr Taco after we dropped off her automobile at Tom Bell. She was embarrassed, because she had never had that experience. We usually share a burrito and luckily we did ,she took one bite and asked me if the burrito smelled. I said yes it does. She told the cashier. The cashier was nice and ask if we wanted another burrito. But , with this ugly taste, we couldn't even try to eat anything else. Coffee was good. I still feel sick to my stomach.
