Would love to be able to review the food, but I was never seated. We were told there would be a 25-30 minute wait. The wait exceeded 35 minutes by the time we gave up and went elsewhere. Actual wait ended up being about 40 minutes (they called after we left). There was nowhere to sit and wait. The hostess told us to stand outside or wait in the car. With a large outside entrance area, I'm not sure why they can't set some chairs out front. In any event, maybe this is normal for a Monday night, but I think they should do a better job setting expectations and making the wait manageable with some seating. read more

My husband and I recently went for the first time and was blown away by the friendly staff and quality of food. I ordered the grouper sandwich (lightly fried) and it was HUGE and absolutely delicious! My taste buds were grateful! My husband ordered the cheese steak and couldn't stop raving about it. The prices won't bust your wallet either. They even have a beer sampler so you can find the perfect beer! On our first visit my wife ordered the chicken pot pie and i ordered a pizza. When it came out we were blown away. The flavors were spot on folks. The ingredients were fresh (no frozen veggies in the pot pie) and the crusts were made on the spot. Had a lunch here for work a few weeks ago. The waiter was really friendly, recommended a few options for us, and he checked on us frequently, but not annoyingly. I had the Eldersburger, which was amazing. The nachos we had as an appetizer were very good, which I believe came right out of the oven. So we love oscars we've been there several times but this will be the 1st time we've gone since the pandemic and I did curbside delivery. I got an email confirmation to call with any questions 15-20 minutes, show up within 20 minutes and it was crowded so I parked where I could. Food was coming out one after the next. I finally got able to get a better position in my car after moving 4 times and then I noticed the small sign on the door that said "Curbside number". That was all, so I texted the number "here" and they reply with "name and car" and so once I did that the food came right out, but I was sitting there for 40 minutes and I told the the lady that came out that it was poorly instructed. Love Oscars! It's the best restaurant in Sykesville. Some might consider it pricey but you get what you pay for. The portions are large for me I always take home half of my dish. Large rotating craft beer menu and their seasonal menu of food and mixed drinks are always tasty. My favorite dishes are the teriyaki wings, chicken pot pie with extra puff pastry and the fish and chips. As a new Englander the fish and chips are top notch. You get real cod fish and the perfect light batter. The only thing I wish they had was a more unique dessert menu. When they have their beer dinners they make the most amazing desserts so I know they are capable of creating delicious unique blow your mind desserts. If you like quality fresh prepared food and a wide variety of beers then this is the place. Ocar's offers a large dining room in the front of the establishments and a large bar in the rear that can get noisy. It is a great place to gather with friends to watch the game or to listen to live music when they have it - check their webpage for details. The menu offers wings, sandwiches, salads and even grilled steaks and fish. I recently had the trout special and it was fabulous. First time at this place since the wife and i are enjoying the local brews of beers we thought we give this place a try. We figured there will be a wait since Covid has plagued our state and they be working with half the capacity. The hostess stated that there will be a 30 to 40 minute wait and that they would take our number to txt us when there is a table available.. Not more than 10 minutes went by we got seated.. That was fantastic!!! Once the hostess seated us our waiter arrived promptly! We had told him this is our very first time here and what would he recommend for beer flights.. After the meal the manager "Dave" came to our table and said heard that we were first time guest in his establishment and made us feel really welcomed. He had mentioned a few items that they make there from scratch and that was a good thing. Went recently on a Saturday evening. Well staffed hostess station, we were seated immediately. The waiter came by quickly & introduced himself. They have an awesome array of beer selections. Based on what we read in the menu we ordered a flight of beers. All very good, our only complaint is the beers were just above room temperature. Apparently the bartender makes the flights ahead of time & they get a little warm waiting to be served. Not good! We got chili nachos app. Pretty good, not great. For entree I got one of the specials, cheeseburger with ham, provolone, Swiss, artichokes & lettuce & tomato. I passed on the chokes. Lol! Comes with fries. Very tasty beef & ham. The roll was delicious. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Wife got the fish & chips. 5 big chunks of fish lightly battered & fried. Comes w/tartar & cocktail sauces. Very well done. My friend got the chicken Chesapeake with asparagus. She loved the asparagus but the Chesapeake she said was good, not great. I felt compelled to write a review tonight, not that they need it. Oscars is one of, if not the best restaurant in Eldersburg. We need more independently owned, non chain restaurants here. Care to open a new concept here, please?! The food is always delicious and consistent and the staff are impeccably trained. After having our baby daughter we started ordering takeout more often and for the first time the take out order was missing the French fries for our dish. Chris, one of their great managers apologised and then went way above and beyond and sent a staff member to our home with the missed order. Have been to Oscar's twice now and I have to say that, overall, I am impressed. The food has always been consistently good and their beer selection is excellent. Now this is definitely the type of restaurant to go only when you are not in a rush. They take their time here with have pretty much everything (ordering, waiting for food, bringing more drinks, etc.) Also, expect very long wait times on busy evenings. But the food is definitely worth the wait, so I will keep coming back! read more

My husband and I went of Oscar's in Eldersburg; giving them another chance from a previous bad experience, unfortunately, nothing has changed...another bad experience. We ordered salads with grilled chicken and steak...the chicken and steak were both cold, very confused because if the meats were grilled, at best the chicken and steak should have been warm, both salads also had mostly the buts of romaine. The drinks were less than desirable, especially when you pay for a double, apparently the bartender confused the mixer for alcohol. To say the least, this will be our last experience with Oscar's. The best thing we can say about the experience is the beer, but we could have gotten that cheaper at the liquor store next door. Come on Eldersburg don't you think we deserve a higher quality restaurant and bar???? Gave Oscar's 1 star because I wasn't able to give anything lower. read more

This place has THE BEST old bay wings I have ever had. I love chicken wings with a dry rub rather than sauce and these were perfect! Super meaty and tasted wonderful. The french fries are really good too, not just plain ol' bland potato fries. My boyfriend got the fish and chips and wasn't a fan but the ribs I tasted from my dads plate were yummy and he enjoyed highly enjoyed them. We were seated relatively quickly for a party of 4 and the place was packed on a Wednesday night. Our waitress was amazingly friendly and attentive, wish I could remember her name! This is ALWAYS our "go to" restaurant. I'd say we come almost every other weekend. So this weekend we decided to invite a couple that we hadn't seen since my husband and I got out of the military. First impressions are everything, and as soon as my husband and I walked in, we were greeted and asked how many... I said "four" and was quickly told by the manager hanging by the hostess desk... to go wait until they got here so they could seat other people instead. Our friends were in the parking lot parking (so we really weren't "waiting on them"). So my husband and I awkwardly backed our way into the waiting area, while the hostess sat the line of people coming in to eat. We got there early in order to avoid having to wait for a table, and because we were pushed away because our friends were still parking, we had to wait another 10 minutes to be sat and waited on. I've never seen a restaurant not sit a couple waiting on their friends and as much as I love OSCARS, that totally threw the mood of the night off. Managers should ALWAYS be for the customers and we felt like we were a bother to them that night:( This post is ONLY for one night out of the many times we've gone to oscars, and the food was still wonderful as always, but this unfortunate customer service at the beginning of our restaurant experience made a lasting impression on me:( read more

I am really torn with this review. My wife and I each got burgers. This was a carryout order. We ordered both burgers well done. My burger was very good. No complaints whatsoever. Here is the part where I am torn. My wife's burger was beet red inside. I am not talking pink, I mean RED. This is a bit risky with ground beef. You can safely eat a steak rare (just quickly sear the outside), but you cannot do that with ground beef. We had to take the patty out and microwave it for 45 seconds. Why? Because microwaving will destroy the DNA of any potential pathogen in the meat. What really worries me is that another review mentioned the same problem so this may be a trend. We will probably try this place again. If we don't have any issues, I will upgrade the score. If the second burger was like the one that was cooked, this would have been a 4-5 star review. It is a shame about the one burger being completely undercooked as the other one was very good. read more

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and overwhelming appreciation to Oscar's for hosting a surprise engagement for me and my new fiancé this past Sunday night. Everything was amazing and I could not have picked a better venue to host our party of 30. From the beginning, the management staff was so extremely easy to work with and accommodating in crating a specialized and personalized menu for our guests. They were flexible with an every changing headcount, setting up early and allowing us to set up cameras all over to film our event. The hosts and hostesses were friendly and accommodating and our server was top-notch and efficient (I wish I remember his name). He was friendly, prompt, accurate, efficient and spent his night dedicated to ensuring that our event was executed flawlessly! The food was great as always, and they even let us bring our own personalized cake - which is rare! I have coordinated a lot of parties and events over the years for various functions and this was truly far superior to any other. I really can't say enough about this place - I highly recommend them for a causal dinner, to catch the game and especially for a special event.
