I come here often and I usually have a great time but the last time I was there a worker rubbed me the wrong way. He was young blonde and on the taller side. He asked me and my family, mind you have two young kids, inappropriate questions regarding my feet. He even said he'll "pay for toe pics". This made me very uncomfortable and I hope this is handled properly. I'm not sure if this was some kind of joke but it was most definitely not funny and upset my kids deeply. I waited until I tried it twice before writing a review, but I still don't know what to say. Having a large dining area (as opposed to mostly bar), I guess I thought the food would be better? The first time, I had the black bean burger. Which was weird, in that it was still soft like it had just been scooped from the bucket it had been put in after being prepped. The second time, I had the four cheese pizza. I wasn't impressed, but my husband said it best when he said that it was similar to 7-11's, but not as good. Yikes. I also tried a couple of fries and they were awful. I could tell the food wasn't an afterthought (for example, the garlic cloves visible under the cheese on the pizza), but it just doesn't hit the mark. Both times I had a side salad, which exceeded expectations. The cilantro-lime dressing should be bottled and sold (!), but probably won't appeal to most Frederick diners. Even though the food is three stars at most, I'll give four stars because Frederick needs more establishments like this--with personality. And because service was excellent both times. read more

One of our new favorite restaurants. The staff is friendly and very professional, especially the bartenders. My wife's order came out incorrect, and they quickly corrected it, offered a free beer, while she waited and had no only the bartender apologize for this mistake, but also the Manager personally came over and check back with us a few times afterwards. They have free live Trivia on Wednesday nights, which is well done. Family environment on the dining side, but no games, pool tables, shuffleboard, etc. read more

Have always had exceptional food and service here. It can be a little pricey, but a good place to go for special occasions or just every once in a while. We're not big beer drinkers, so the draft selections are kind of lost on us, but cocktails are mixed well and we've always left happy. VERY distanced tables and friendly service staff. read more

This was the first time I had visited Oscar's Ale House but heard great reviews from friends. My party of 2 arrived on a Sunday around 5p. We were immediately greeted and sat by the hostess. We waited around 10 minutes for the waitress to come to the table. She had knowledge on the menu and the beers that were on tap. We ordered the Crab Dip but were told they were out of crab drip. She made the suggestion of the Barbarian Pretzel which we took her suggestion. I then asked if the pizza was a personal size or enough for two. She stated it was 10 inches but they are out of dough. I browsed through the menu and ordered the cheese steak and the other person ordered a burger. She told us that it was happy hour and there was a special on beers and appetizers. The other party decided to order a cider beer and she stated "Everything you all order we are out of, we just finished the keg." On to the next beer. When my cheese steak sub arrived it was okay but don't see the value at $12. The other party said the burger was good so I will give a plus for a $12 burger. My overall rating is: Service 2.5 out of 5 Food Quality 4 out of 5 Value 3 out of 5 ($39 for appetizer, 2 sandwiches, and one draft beer) I would probably go back but would not rush or make this my usually go to place. Seems like the management just needs to be better prepared as being out of dough takes out a 1/4 of your menu. This was my first time eating here. Place a simple takeout order for a burger and fries. Asked that the burger be cooked well done it wasn't even close to that and the fries were missing. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that the burger (the parts I could actually eat) was delicious. I came here for lunch today after finding it on Yelp searching for "fish and chips". I thought what the heck, I'll scout it out for my family's sake. That's the kind of caring husband and father I am. Plus I was really jonesing for some fish and chips. I am so glad I did. Oscar's is in the old strip mall on N. East St, a block north of Family Meal. It's pretty unassuming but the inside is great. Wood and brick, very casual but really nice. For some reason it reminded me of Cheers and would feel right at home as a classic Boston pub. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very personable and the service was quick and efficient. The manager delivered my food and personally checked back to see if everything was to my liking. Hearing it was my first visit there, both he and the bartender made me feel like a regular and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was fantastic. It's a scratch made kitchen and my fish and chips was delivered promptly, fresh, and delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the jambalaya. If you're looking for a clean, casual new place to try in Frederick, take a leap of faith and try Oscar's. You will not be disappointed!! read more

I went to Oscars the first week it was open and it left a really good impression of what is to come for them. I went with 3 other people and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait so we went to the bar area for a beer while we waited. They called us for our table before 30 minutes which was a nice surprise. When our waiter came to the table he told us that the kitchen was running very behind and also told us a list of items they were out of that night, it was really nice to hear up front that they were behind and also out of items rather than being disappointed after we ordered. We got a quesadilla which was really spicy and good. I got the crab soup which was really flavorful and had a good kick to it. My fiance got the crab cake sandwich and said it was awesome especially for the good price. My dad got the cajun burger, he said it was just okay. They have a huge beer selection to choose from and the staff was very nice and I am sure they have worked out any issues they had now that they have been open for a few weeks. read more

Got curbside tonight. Food was good. However, there are no options of ketchup and mustard when ordering a burger. Only mayo. I noted in the order comments that I wanted ketchup and mustard on the side. I did not get either and didn't realize that until I was at home. Again the food was good, but CHECK YOUR ORDER before you leave because you may not be taking home what you're expecting to take home. I usually don't tip for curbside but did for this one. Tried Oscar's last night after nearby soccer practice. Our server Mario was very friendly and attentive. Shared the specials, including a pint and discounted salad offer that sounded good. We had the burger special (chili billy), the BBQ special (ribs and chicken), a cilantro lime grilled chicken salad and regular burger. Also had the nachos w/queso. Everything was spot on. We had heard from this place a while ago but just decided to try it today. Went to Yelp to find reviews and suggestions from past patrons and we had a great experience. Ironically enough we don't drink but we experienced their food side. Because of COVID regulations the tables were properly distanced from others and servers and employees were wearing their masks at all times. First we requested to be seated at Jennifer's area because she got rave reviews for her service. She lived up to them. Friendly, knowledgeable and ready-witted suggestions. We tried their chicken wings, naked and sauces on the side. These could be eaten just like that. Seasoned but not overly and each sauce we tried was incredible. This place makes must of all the items in the menu from scratch including sauces. My husband went with fish and chips, fresh, crispy and soft inside, delicious. I had the ahí tuna wrap and it was great. The wasabi sauce was on point. And the tuna was perfectly cooked. Their manager Steve was great too and very attentive. Super sad to write a negative review for a place we once loved. My husband & I had been semi-regulars since they first opened. Food was fantastic, great bar & service. We had a few hit or miss to go orders pre- COVID, but last 4 have been really bad. Taking into account how crazy it was for local restaurants who had to switch to full take out mode, we let some stuff slide...but recent mistakes included, missing items paid for in each order (salad in one, dessert in another) burger ordered rare, cooked beyond well done, literally 3 French fries came with it). Last time we went to pick up order, the runner apologized that our ticket had never made it to kitchen, & said the manager would be in touch (we never heard back) read more
