Ordered crap dip to go and there was no meat. We are very frustrated and will not be returning

Met up with friends while visiting Frederick to try this pretty new edition. The inside was nicely decorated, updated interior and chill atmosphere. The menu was pretty extensive and all three of us tried different dishes. I had the crab cake dinner, one friend had the jumbalaya, and the other had the NY strip steak. Seriously delicious crab cakes, probably some of the best I've ever had, even in Maryland. my friends could not stop raving about thier dishes either. They also have a pretty great beer list with lots of craft (local and out of state) beers. Our server was attentive and very friendly! I highly recommend checking this place out. read more

SOLID 3 stars. Service was excellent, the waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, quick & attentive. The food was pretty great but was a "I'll be here at least once a month from now on." kind of meal. It definitely exceeded my expectations but I feel that the flavors could all be amped up more. Maybe too many menu options overall? It was a little overwhelming looking at the menu. Overall I'll definitely be back to try other things. Service again was excellent! Also nice to find a place like this in frederick, something other/different than fridays, chili's or Applebee's. And something a little more relaxed than a bar or take out place down town. Hard cider was good as well. Lots of beer options! read more

This WAS one of our favorite places to eat and call in take out and we haven't been there in awhile so that was our pick for tonight. Unfortunately they refused to take my order over the phone as they had always done before. I tried to explain to the girl that the website ordering wasn't working and she said "well I can't take your order". So I hung up and looked on the website again and it says right on there "call in to go orders, and if modifications are necessary this is easier". So I called back and asked to speak to a manager and the girl refused to get a manager AND to take my order. I asked her, so your saying I need to eat somewhere else?.....yes, I can't take orders on the phone. WOW! I can say this has been a first! We definitely will not go back! While I love the Eldersburg location and have never had a bad experience there, the new Frederick location is not of the same quality. Items leaving the kitchen do not seem to be assessed for standards or presentation. We ordered Nachos and only half of the cheese was melted. One side of the plate looked great but the other was still cold shredded cheese. Secondly, my wife's sandwich was toasted nicely on top, but the underside was uncooked, with no grill marks and soft bread. Despitebit being a slower Monday lunch, our server was in a hurry and would walk away during our answers to questions he had asked. Never did he finish a conversation facing us. Lastly, he brought napkins to the table that were covered in dust or lint, showing his lack of attention or ownership of the items he delivered to our table. This once again is a drastic difference between the locations. I believe Eldersburg recruit educators as serving staff and that really shows. We came away feeling like this location is not paying attention to detail. As this is a new location we hope they work out the kinks. We will try back in a few months. Until then we'll be driving to Eldersburg. read more

We came here for a retirement lunch, so it was a big crowd. So service was a little slow. Maybe should have had 2 servers help take the orders. Other than that, the service was good and able to modify somethings to my diet. And it came out great! I loved it. I would go again with a smaller party and see how that works. I come here often and I usually have a great time but the last time I was there a worker rubbed me the wrong way. He was young blonde and on the taller side. He asked me and my family, mind you have two young kids, inappropriate questions regarding my feet. He even said he'll "pay for toe pics". This made me very uncomfortable and I hope this is handled properly. I'm not sure if this was some kind of joke but it was most definitely not funny and upset my kids deeply. I hope this doesn't happen to any one else. read more

This was the first time I had visited Oscar's Ale House but heard great reviews from friends. My party of 2 arrived on a Sunday around 5p. We were immediately greeted and sat by the hostess. We waited around 10 minutes for the waitress to come to the table. She had knowledge on the menu and the beers that were on tap. We ordered the Crab Dip but were told they were out of crab drip. She made the suggestion of the Barbarian Pretzel which we took her suggestion. I then asked if the pizza was a personal size or enough for two. She stated it was 10 inches but they are out of dough. I browsed through the menu and ordered the cheese steak and the other person ordered a burger. She told us that it was happy hour and there was a special on beers and appetizers. The other party decided to order a cider beer and she stated "Everything you all order we are out of, we just finished the keg." On to the next beer. When my cheese steak sub arrived it was okay but don't see the value at $12. The other party said the burger was good so I will give a plus for a $12 burger. My overall rating is: Service 2.5 out of 5 Food Quality 4 out of 5 Value 3 out of 5 ($39 for appetizer, 2 sandwiches, and one draft beer) I would probably go back but would not rush or make this my usually go to place. Seems like the management just needs to be better prepared as being out of dough takes out a 1/4 of your menu. With us ordering 3 items that they were out of on a early Sunday dinner, I can imagine they were out of other items too. read more

Have always had exceptional food and service here. It can be a little pricey, but a good place to go for special occasions or just every once in a while. We're not big beer drinkers, so the draft selections are kind of lost on us, but cocktails are mixed well and we've always left happy. VERY distanced tables and friendly service staff. read more

I waited until I tried it twice before writing a review, but I still don't know what to say. Having a large dining area (as opposed to mostly bar), I guess I thought the food would be better? The first time, I had the black bean burger. Which was weird, in that it was still soft like it had just been scooped from the bucket it had been put in after being prepped. The second time, I had the four cheese pizza. I wasn't impressed, but my husband said it best when he said that it was similar to 7-11's, but not as good. Yikes. I also tried a couple of fries and they were awful. I could tell the food wasn't an afterthought (for example, the garlic cloves visible under the cheese on the pizza), but it just doesn't hit the mark. Both times I had a side salad, which exceeded expectations. The cilantro-lime dressing should be bottled and sold (!), but probably won't appeal to most Frederick diners. Even though the food is three stars at most, I'll give four stars because Frederick needs more establishments like this--with personality. And because service was excellent both times. read more

Great place to catch up with an old friend. The crab cake was well done but I have to tell you, my friend had the NY strip. It was great. I had to taste it. This was my first time eating here. Place a simple takeout order for a burger and fries. Asked that the burger be cooked well done it wasn't even close to that and the fries were missing. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1 is that the burger (the parts I could actually eat) was delicious. It's pretty hard to mess up a burger and fries order so not sure I'll be giving this place a second chance. read more

I went to Oscars the first week it was open and it left a really good impression of what is to come for them. I went with 3 other people and we were told it would be a 30 minute wait so we went to the bar area for a beer while we waited. They called us for our table before 30 minutes which was a nice surprise. When our waiter came to the table he told us that the kitchen was running very behind and also told us a list of items they were out of that night, it was really nice to hear up front that they were behind and also out of items rather than being disappointed after we ordered. We got a quesadilla which was really spicy and good. I got the crab soup which was really flavorful and had a good kick to it. My fiance got the crab cake sandwich and said it was awesome especially for the good price. My dad got the cajun burger, he said it was just okay. They have a huge beer selection to choose from and the staff was very nice and I am sure they have worked out any issues they had now that they have been open for a few weeks. read more

I came here for lunch today after finding it on Yelp searching for "fish and chips". I thought what the heck, I'll scout it out for my family's sake. That's the kind of caring husband and father I am. Plus I was really jonesing for some fish and chips. I am so glad I did. Oscar's is in the old strip mall on N. East St, a block north of Family Meal. It's pretty unassuming but the inside is great. Wood and brick, very casual but really nice. For some reason it reminded me of Cheers and would feel right at home as a classic Boston pub. I sat at the bar and the bartender was very personable and the service was quick and efficient. The manager delivered my food and personally checked back to see if everything was to my liking. Hearing it was my first visit there, both he and the bartender made me feel like a regular and it was a very pleasant experience. The food was fantastic. It's a scratch made kitchen and my fish and chips was delivered promptly, fresh, and delicious. I can't wait to go back and try the jambalaya. If you're looking for a clean, casual new place to try in Frederick, take a leap of faith and try Oscar's. You will not be disappointed!! read more

A plethora of micro brews to suit any beer lovers' taste. Additionally, the food selection is fairly decent for American fare. This place is always packed with customers and most of the staff is pleasant and enjoyable. Wednesday evening trivia night is a must if you're into that. read more

This was a great experience. Went on Valentines day. We order the Valentine special. Chicken Marcella and the steak. They we're both great. Got curbside tonight. Food was good. However, there are no options of ketchup and mustard when ordering a burger. Only mayo. I noted in the order comments that I wanted ketchup and mustard on the side. I did not get either and didn't realize that until I was at home. Again the food was good, but CHECK YOUR ORDER before you leave because you may not be taking home what you're expecting to take home. I usually don't tip for curbside but did for this one. After reading reviews I was excited to try this place. Unfortunately It didn't meet my expectations. The service was ok. We ordered the buffalo chicken dip which was terrible. Had no flavor and only had 2 small pieces of chicken. We ordered the crab dip hoping it would be a winner but again very disappointing. Looked like the same thing as the buffalo dip except it had few pieces of crab meat. My entree was mediocre. My son got a salad and my boyfriend got a burger. He said the burger was good. We didn't have wings but the table next to us got wings and they did look delicious. read more

Tried Oscar's last night after nearby soccer practice. Our server Mario was very friendly and attentive. Shared the specials, including a pint and discounted salad offer that sounded good. We had the burger special (chili billy), the BBQ special (ribs and chicken), a cilantro lime grilled chicken salad and regular burger. Also had the nachos w/queso. Everything was spot on.
