First time here. Views are stunning & the restaurant is beautiful. Food was just OK, especially considering it's $19 for a burger & fries. My seared tuna Caesar was $22 and looked promising, however, although the tuna was cooked perfectly, it lacked flavor and the Caesar dressing lacked zip as well. They forgot my croutons, so the server brought me some and I was disappointed to find they were the typical rock hard croutons from a box. On a high note, my nephew loved the chicken & waffles and everyone wished they had ordered it! Let's talk COVID. We only had a 5 minute wait, so we wore our masks because there were several families waiting. We observed that 90% of the staff were not wearing masks. The hostess took our temps and then sat us outside. Our server was not wearing a mask and continually would get super close and hover over the table and ask us questions. We were staying at Big Cedar Lodge and had made plans to spend the day at Top of the Rock at the Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail as well as the Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum (highly recommended BOTH). There are a couple of restaurants to chose from up there but we chose Osage for lunch after our cart trail. Man what a BEAUTIFUL view. Wow. It's stunning off the back deck, over looking the valley there and Table Rock Lake. We started off with the chips and guacamole as well as a couple of cocktails. The guac was great, chips were nice and crispy. Delicious. The cocktails were fantastic. The wife had the Autumn Fizz & I opted for the Osage Smash. Mine was very very good. Like I'll try to replicate this at home good. Since we kind of went all in chips and guac so we opted to split a burger, choosing the BBQ Bourbon Burger. Simply put, it was outstanding. We were at Big Cedar during the July 4th week and had a large group attend the 4 course dinner. First the place is reminiscent of a castle as you walk down stone steps carved into stone walls. The main dining room has a concave roof of wood as if you were in a barrel of wine. Outside it is beautiful with large statues and a great view of the lake. The servers were friendly and impeccable. All of the courses were incredible, but the main entrees with chicken and beef were a little bland. All in all a great experience inside a stunning historical structure. It isnt cheap either but you have to try this at least once in your life. read more

Had dinner here with my wife and Sister-in-Law around 5:30pm. We were seated at a corner table against the windows with an outstanding view of the golf course and Table Rock Lake creating a truly outstanding setting for dinning. The food here is very expensive, my Lobster Ravioli entree was $50, my wife's 8 oz Steak was $64. The sides were $12 each and the least expensive Chardonnay was $14/glass. With that said, I have to say the food is outstanding. My Lobster Ravioli was delicious and had large chunks of lobster and a delicious cream sauce. The bread/butter served with the meal had great tasting bread and lavosh. Our server was nice, but had difficulty answering questions about the menu and filling my drink order was a real challenge. On the first attempt she spilled about half the drink when her tray became unsteady after taking other drinks off. The second time she delivered a drink only spilling a small amount at the end, but that drink had a fly floating in it. The third time was the charm, however, the drink tasted off and was missing the olive. At this point I wasn't going to complain. When I got the bill it was clearly noted as a Tanqueray Martini. I asked the server about that as I ordered Hendricks and she confessed that it was indeed Tanqueray and didn't know I wanted Hendricks. She needs to listen better to her customers, but she did offer to remove the drink from the bill which was the right thing to do. One of the worst meals In years! The Brie appetizer was alright. I had the pork chop...it was overcooked, then they slice to serve and any juices that might have been left inside were then on the plate..I also had the Mac n cheese, it really tasted like processed cheese. My wife had the lobster ravioli..DO NOT under any circumstances order the lobster ravioli!! The lobster literally looked like someone had chewed it up before it was served! The views alone are 5 star. Our waiter provided the best service ever. The food was amazing. We started with the baked brie with bacon jam and we knew we were in for a delicious meal. Thier special blackberry smash cocktail was so good. The rolls were just as impressive and delicious. The lobster bisque was the best I have ever had, the chunks of lobster were very tender. Hubby had the elk soup and said it was very good. My sister really enjoyed the seasonal salad with grilled peaches. Our main dishes were the Salmon, Scallops, and Filet. Everything was cooked to perfection, the filet probably could have been cut with a butter knife. For sides we had the potatoes, street corn, and brussel sprouts. All of the sides were cooked and seasoned perfectly. To finish we were full but had to share two desserts, the lemon butter cake with blueberry compote and the strawberry shortcake. Yes, Osage is worth the hype. Make a reservation. Be patient - good things will come. Relax and enjoy the views. We started off with cocktails and an appetizer of roasted sweet potatoes- it was like having dessert first. We had fun reviewing the wine list and selected a red blend to go with our Chef's tasting menu: elk soup (like an Italian wedding soup but with potatoes instead of pasta) The elk sausage in the soup is out of this world. The filets were cooked to perfection, I topped mine off with a little blue cheese to go with the wine, smashed new potatoes and roasted carrots accompanied our entree. Let me say this venue is amazing, the architecture and vibe is impeccable. The view is stunning. The restaurant has a large seating area with plenty of glass to take in the view. There is a large patio area down below with large glass fireplaces and small table top fire pits. This is a high price restaurant, which was expected. We had a couple great cocktails and watched the Sunset celebration, cannon shot. Quite a nice event. Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the price point. I had the Ribeye Medium Rare. Wife had the Maine Lobster, sides were Brussels sprouts with bacon, crispy fingerling potatoes. Steak was almost raw, Brussels sprouts and fingerling potatoes were very soggy. My wife's lobster tasted like it had been brined in salt water and the meat was mushy. We complained to our waitress she did apologize and went to her manager and they took 14% off the bill. The manager never came to address the situation, which we felt sorry for the waitress for no support from her management. In summary it's a great venue but food was sub par. Great service, Great Food & Great views... Bread is excellent, steaks cooked to perfection, mac & cheese (out of this world) I recently became addicted to the buttermilk chicken, so now I have that problem to police. What a unique and beautiful experience, we killed time in the museum to eat here as soon as it opened and oh man we are so so glad we did. My husband and I took a short weekend trip to celebrate our "dating" anniversary which is JUST AS IMPORTANT, thankyouverymuch. I've always wanted to visit Big Cedar and the Top of the Rock, so I was super excited! FYI: It costs $10 to get in to the property if you're not already staying at Big Cedar. You can take the parking lot shuttle to the restaurant or pay $15 to valet. This restaurant is very nice. Rustic, woody, perched high above with beautiful views of the sunset. Totally worth eating here for the atmosphere alone. Thankfully the food is pretty good too. Here's what we got: Scallops appetizer - these were great! Served with mushroom risotto, candied carrots and bacon. It was wonderful! Excellent quality scallops - no grit! My entree was the Lobster Pappardelle - and it was such a good choice for me! The truffle cream was not heavy but super flavorful. A bit of spinach or kale mixed in with luxurious lobster claw meat, which is the best part of the lobster. Very elegant dish. My husband chose the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. For sides, we split the crispy Brussel sprouts. These had excellent crispiness and high on flavor; however, they were cut too small to eat with a fork. Grab your spoons and go! Very good. Now the sweet potatoes with honey butter was to absolutely to die for! I loved the contrasting savory/sweet flavor. Excellently roasted. Definitely get this one! We somehow saved room for dessert, but we got it to go so we could eat it at our hotel. I chose the Key Lime Pie and it was pie so incredibly good! Could've done without the meringue on top but that's just my preference. Hubby chose the chocolate cake with multiple chocolate layers. It was a big portion, super rich and very good. Visiting from out of town we found this restaurant online and loved it offered beautiful views. We were seated outside on the upper balcony with fantastic views. We ordered the crab cake appetizer and it was the best I've ever had hands down. Dinner was Chilean sea bass encrusted with nuts, filet with blue crab and bearnaise sauce on top. Sides come separate and we ordered mashed potatoes and finger potatoes. Everything was amazing. My husbands steak was over cooked and they sent it back and brought him a new perfectly cooked steak. He said it was one of the best steaks he's had and that's saying a lot because he prides himself on making his own steaks in the soya vide cooker. First of all I gave it two stars because the sunset view was incredible so was the atmosphere and the decor of the restaurant. Second, the one star goes to the cold food we received. After sending it back to the kitchen to get it reheated to a proper temperature it was still cold after sending it back to our table. Not only our steak was cold but lobster, mushrooms was cold and they forgot our other side dish we ordered and also the trio sauce we ordered. The waitress also forgot a drink order. Very disappointed first experience. I couldn't even eat my dinner because the food was so cold it was sickening to eat. The restaurant did not care about our food and how we wanted it. Asking it to be reheated should not be so difficult to do. How can a restaurant serve cold food and be okay with it? No managers came to check on us or speak to us. The waitress did take the steak and sides off our order. I didn't want to get our food taken off the ticket! The ambiance was absolutely stunning. The breathtaking views were incomparable to anything in the Branson area. The service was flawless. Our server was classy, professional, and knowledgeable. The food came out coked nicely and served pipping hot and quickly. Our only knock was that all of the items we ordered were all under seasoned or not seasoned at all. The lobster bisque was the biggest miss. I would take it off of the menu as it does not compare in texture or taste to any world class fare I've had in this same price category. My southern fried chicken was also timidly seasoned. You need to be committed to a taste profile and make it sing! Neither of these dishes came close. Took a friend out for a birthday celebration last night. Have to pay just to enter property ($15 - ridiculous) and was told valet service was not available. We drove up anyway and valet was, in fact, available ($20 but worth it not to walk from public parking, or ride the shuttle on a date). Our server was Joshua - great, great service! Ordered filet and salmon - both prepared well. Also 'enhanced' with a 2lb lobster - lobster did not come with clarified butter so we had to ask the busser for that - he brought out whipped butter instead so I have up asking because it was clearly a foreign concept even though it was listed on the menu. Lobster was a little dry so may have been overcooked - pretty sure it was also not 2lbs as listed - not what I expected for an $85 lobster in a nicer restaurant. Sides (mushrooms) and salad were good. Overall, great ambiance and Joshua was a great server, but pricey just to enter and park ($35 in all) and then a dry lobster without clarified butter (also extremely pricey) left me a little disappointed. I guess if you are in this location, you are stuck for options for a nicer place to eat, but food prep on pricier items, and cost to enter the property when you are about to drop about $500 at the restaurant is ridiculous. Also, as an aside, I'm a 30 year, disabled military veteran and they have different signs and displays about appreciation, but flatly tell you "no" if you ask about discounts, so it's just lip service by another rich guy. I wanted to leave a positive review since I was worried about our dinner given the reviews I found on line. We had a wonderful dinner at Osage. First, the restaurant is so cool looking. Amazing views, interesting decor. Family friendly and the kids were entertained by all the art and artifacts! Nice kids menu! The bathroom was really nice too. We ordered the wedge salad and cauliflower bisque-both tasty. The bread service was also fabulous with white and wheat rolls and seeded lavash. Sweet butter with salt. For our entrees we had the filet. Great quality and perfectly cooked. I'm all about the sauce and the sauce trio was fun to try. My husband loved the Stilton brûlée. For sides we did the Brussels-delicious! Nice and caramelized. The creamed spinach was rich and cheesy-loved it!! The cocktails were perfect as well. Husband and I made Thanksgiving reservations and came from Oklahoma to enjoy a long weekend. The only positive about the experience was a pleasant atmosphere and nice employees. We arrived at our reserved time and were told there was an hour wait. We went to the bar to wait and paid an additional $50 for two drinks. The meal reminded me of a Golden Corral. The " carving station" had deli ham and turkey breast. The food was bland and much of it had been left in the chafing dishes too long. The meal alone for two people, including tax and automatic 18% gratuity, was $276. When you add the drinks and $35 parking it was an expensive night that was supposed to be a special occasion but ended up being a huge disappointment. read more

We had 5 in our party and since it was my Mom's 90th birthday, I called several weeks in advance and requested a table by the window so we could see the sunset and incredible setting outside on her special day. The receptionist on the phone seemed excited and said that they would put it in the notes. I called back 2 additional times to confirm the reservation and window seating request for our party. No issues with the request at that point. When we arrived at the restaurant and checked in on-time, we were then told that there were no 5-tops by the window and were then to be seated at an internal table. Wow, really? I didn't make a scene but I was very disappointed that they just didn't inform me ahead of time that they didn't seat parties of 5 at the window? Not a deal breaker but it cost em a star.... Glad the food and service has improved. Please, just let folks know if you cannot accommodate special requests and that only parties of 4 get seated at the window. read more

Eating at Osage is the highlight of our multiple stays at Top of the Rock and Big Cedar Lodge. While there are no bad tables it is such an honor to get a window seat in the the western most Atrium room with 270 degree views of the lake, golf course and Chapel of the Ozark's. We were also able to get a dinner time that coincided with the sunset over the lake which included a playing of the bag pipes and a firing of the cannon below us. The room also has an amazing round fireplace in the center of the room that is lit in the cooler months. For this meal we chose the Chef's Celebration dinner special with soup or salad, entrees and dessert for $75.00. We had the house salad that is so fresh with red wine poached figs, spiced pecans and Dubliner Cheddar and the Caesar salad. For entree's we chose the 28 day aged 10 oz Filet Mignon with cherry and wine jus perfectly cooked with the most tender meat you will find any where. Our other entree was the brown sugar glazed salmon nested on grilled asparagus and creamy polenta. To balance out the meal we added a side of the crispy Brussel sprouts with bourbon glaze and pancetta. For dessert we chose from the complete dessert menu including the recommended Gooey Apple Butter Cake which included warm cake with a gooey sauce, Bourbon caramel sauce, candied pecans and topped with vanilla bean ice cream - its just heaven on a plate. We also chose the Chocolate Layer Cake, filled with all different chocolate layer types that make it as good as any dessert one can eat and big enough for three people. This paired perfectly with a cup of coffee spiked with Bailey's Irish Cream. Once again Osage met our every desire and will be the place we return to for next annual wedding anniversary pilgrimage. I ordered the bone in ribeye medium rare. The picture of it I posted looks amazing. The second picture I posted of it sums it up. It was beyond well done. And tasted horrible. I usually just grin and bear it but with this one it was so bad I requested a new one. The new one was worse. Seared on the outside and raw on the inside. I get the joke here chef, but okay with someone else's $80 steak please. My wife ordered the filet medium rare, it too was beyond well done. She has severe discomfort in restaurant confrontation so she ate some of it. Our teenager wouldn't even eat it and he's a garbage disposal. The Mac n cheese was meh and the sweet potatoes were good although lacking the honey sauce they rave about. The kids cheeseburger for my 9 yr old was a hit and my other sons brown sugar salmon "slapped" he said. So there's that. We wouldn't recommend this place for steaks. But for bread, dips, a kids cheeseburger or salmon and a view go for it! The manager did bring me my new raw steak out with some complimentary sautéed shrimp that was uneatable by anyone at the table. But they looked pretty! Understand this review comes from a foodie family. We have a deep love affair of food and specifically steaks. We eat from hole in the walls to some of the top restaurants around. We'll place this one in the, not even if it was free category would we come back. Hope this helps someone. Maybe even a real chef who wants a shot at doing something real special with a location that has a ton of potential. But I get it, with all the mindless tourist coming through here more interested in getting drunk then walking through the chapel thanking their Heavenly Father before eating food they'll never remember, there's no need for good food up here because demand is always here. I'm really disappointed with my experience here, and I can't recommend going. The pros: Top of the Rock is absolutely stunning, and the restaurant is no exception. We went at sunset and had a beautiful view of both the sun and the nightly cannon ceremony. The staff was kind and helpful; they are the reason this review was not two stars. The cons: The food. At our server's recommendation, my brother and I ordered the daily special--a porterhouse steak for two. What I received was probably the most unpleasant steak I've ever eaten. My brother suspected they forgot to wash off the salt brine they used, because neither of us could taste the meat beneath the salt. Trying to scrape off the outside did not help at all. I truly wouldn't have wanted to eat this even had it been given to me for free. After my brother's and my own mouths were raw from salt, we both stopped eating out portions of the steak and left it unfinished. Furthermore, even if the steak had been properly seasoned, the meat is not of particularly impressive quality or cooking. The meat was streaked with grizzle and tough tendon, and parts of the meat were terribly dry. The bottom line is this: please do not order the steak. When we alerted our server, she sent the manager to come speak with us--he was kind and apologized that we did not like our food, and he discounted the price of the steak (not served with sides) by a modest amount. The separately-ordered sides and appetizers were better, although still hit-or-miss. The grilled vegetables were tasty, but the mac n cheese was pretty tasteless. The charcuterie board was good, as well as the bread basket. Overall, I don't recommend going to Osage with high food expectations--you would be better served spending the same amount (or much less!) monty at an expensive restaurant elsewhere. However, the prices are much more reasonable if you imagine $20-$30 per person going to "admission"--the view at sunset is truly stunning, and the restaurant itself has a wonderful atmosphere. I do not plan to return to Osage, but if you are looking for a spectacular view with okay food, Osage may be worth a trip. read more

Here on vacation. First time at Big Cedar Lodge. Wonderful place for dinner. Fantastic view of Table Top Lake. Reservations were for 5:30pm so we got to see the sunset. The food was fabulous. Our steaks were so tender. The sides were generous that serves for two. The service was excellent. The only thing is the restaurant was operating at full capacity and the tables were not spread apart 6 feet. Coming from Las Vegas, the restaurants are operating at 50% capacity, the tables are 6 feet apart and no more than 6 people per table. Here in Missouri it is a lot different. I wore my mask until it was time to eat. At sunset they have a celebration. There was a man playing the bagpipes and they fired the cannons. Really cool to watch them fire the cannons. read more

Lamb was good, the lobster was good, steak wasn't cooked well also not a lot of flavor, the pasta and ahi tuna were actually the best things we got! the sides were not ideal in the slightest. This Bass Pro universe was kind of fun but stupidly expensive and overtly touristy. Starting with the $10 parking fee. Cave tours- make your own fun if you have kids. Sing the going on a bear hunt song (spoiler: there's a bear growling at the end in a cave; spoiler: speaker is visible if you walk up to it). There are some tiger sounds in the tunnel. Kids love splashing through the water. Drive under the dripping water as much as possible and do *slow* donuts in the large empty parking spaces. The actual cave part is so short it was laughable. I know this place was enormously expensive but I think its ridiculous this was ever touted as a cave tour. Its all entirely fabricated. The bat bar was a complete down. It's drive through you can't get out and hang in the cave at all (Carlsbad style!). There is another bat bar station by a cool lookout complete with bar bi*ches in short skirts/shorts- shame on you, girls). We spent $130 for 4 tickets and we had to really stretch to make it to an hour and a half. I think this would have been more fun as a walking tour, it's only 2.5 miles. I found this property extremely confusing. The museum (which you pay for whether you like it or not) is up the hill. The free shuttles are fast, don't walk, nobody does. The restaurants and chapel are also all up there. The First American museum was exquisite. It's enormous and so superbly done and was the best part of the trip. Tons of artifacts that are labeled well, beautiful artwork including some contemporary. Well designed, good flow, no bottlenecks. The kids enjoyed it ok, but I would have spent more time without them there We went to the buffalo bar, thinking we outsmarted the system. Wanted the view without the Osage pricing. Well joke was on us, the menu was the Osage menu, but you sit outside (right next to the golf players, some of them were obviously intoxicated and were swearing quite a bit, just fyi.) I don't understand why the upstairs and downstairs have different names. If we had planned better I would have liked to see the nightly sunset cannon/bagpipe performance but we were too early. It said on the menu there is a $10 entry fee for this event, but it wasn't clear to me if that is per person or table? Is it waived if you actually eat there? The food is actually incredible but very pricey. $32 fried chicken with no sides (best you'll ever have, though). Other primary dishes are quite a bit more than that (I'm looking at you, $50 ravioli). Kids meals are large, $12. The kids cheeseburger is super delicious and wasted on children, they don't even know. Sides are about $15 but large. The Brussels and sweet potatoes are absolutely amazing. The complimentary bread and whipped rosemary butter is incredible, but make sure you grab the soft rolls and not the giant crusty croutons they are impossible to bite into. Prepare for this meal to take a while, it's a loungey atmosphere and nobody is in a hurry. The waiter was very nice, but I found the hostess a bit *aloof* and not very appropriately dressed (a la bat bar girls). The property is beautiful and well manicured. The inside is like a labyrinth, we got lost and found a wine dungeon. I hear there is also a cigar room. We felt sort of underdressed since we had also hiked that day, but saw people in cocktail attire as well as jeans/shorts. So in just a few short hours we spent approximately $270 for a family of 4 plus a baby. Was outrageous. read more

When I plan my trip to Branson this restaurant was on the top of my list for places to eat at I was so excited to be able to try their food and experience the immaculate views. The food was pretty good, but overall it was the ambience that made the experience spectacular. I wish I was able to see the views of the restaurant during the day but nonetheless this place had an authentic and homey ambiance that really stole the show.
