They did allow our dog (inside or out) however, I wouldn't call them dog friendly as they did not offer us doggie bowl for water. Had superb service with enjoyable live music. The elk soup was phenomenal really surprised me although I ordered it extra hot and it was warm at best. The whipped honey butter with truffle sea salt was amazing as well. I thought this might be better, if I'm being honest. We ordered drinks and an app, and the staff was busting it, but it also wasn't really that busy. I ordered a paloma for my wife and I, priced at $22 each -- this would be $9-$14 back in KC... I get it, resort prices, but still got sticker shock. While it looked beautiful, it was not good. Very underwhelming for what you pay, and sparse on alcohol. We got some spinach artichoke dip which was really good and helped salvage the experience. The view out on the patio is nice; you're on "the top of the rock" overlooking the lake and a golf course. It's quite manicured up there, but it's nice either way. We stuck around for the sunset show with bagpipes and a cannon firing which was interesting. At one point he played "Dixie" on the bagpipes, what the hell?? but otherwise it was kind of interesting. So much of the menu here is similar to all their other restaurants, and I found it confusing to keep up with what is what. My take on Big Cedar restaurants after a few days is that Worman House is amazing, as is Truman for breakfast, everything else is kind of all the same average spot mixed together. read more

Beautiful restaurant with a pretty view. The menu didn't have a huge selection but there's something for anyone. We had the buffalo meatballs and baked Brie for appetizers and both were delicious. The bread and rosemary honey butter were also great! Everyone seemed happy with their entrees, some looked better than others. I had the lobster Mac and Cheese and it honestly wasn't my favorite. It seemed sort of bland and the lobster was dry and tough. In all fairness, the server did suggest to me another dish over that one. I would go back and try another dish. This bar is beautiful - it has the same menu as the Osage restaurant upstairs and has a beautiful patio where you can sit outside and admire the view in a bit more relaxed environment. This is a great option if you don't have dinner reservations at Osage restaurant. This bar is located downstairs, takes walk-ins, and is quite large with panoramic views at the Top Of The Rock. The sunset ceremony is a wonderful tradition and a treat to witness. The service was good although we were "forgotten" about upon being seated. Once rectified, all went well. The food was good and presented nicely (but it felt a bit over-priced). Just know that you are paying for the experience so don't go too hungry (or thirsty!). Just relax and enjoy. read more

After we barely finished the museum tour, we rushed outside to see the sunset ceremony. Took a walk through the bar to get to the spectacular view it offers. Amazing photo opt of the pool with statue and the lake and chapel were just breathtaking! The ceremony is bag-pipes and canon at sunset. This is a beautiful facility and impressive to see. I recommend visiting but would limit the trip to golf or drinks and simple dish. Food was like a catered wedding. Warmed over and reheated. I ordered the filet and it was overcooked. Worse it was dry. The first round of mashed potatoes arrived cold. Strangely none of this triggered a visit from manager so server failed to recognize it was warranted. I wouldn't choose to eat here again. We loved our visit to the Buffalo bar this past fall. We didn't have reservations to the Osage restaurant but we were pleasantly surprised that they had this restaurant as an alternative. Came in wanting to go to Osage restaurant at 5pm on a Monday evening and although there was no seating available in that particular section, we were redirected down to this Buffalo Bar section right below Osage, had no wait time and has the same menu as Osage. We were not let down! Stunning views of top of the rock, and friendly staff. Everything is a la carte, so we ordered a combo of Elk Soup, the veggie side, crab cake, and prime rib. Downstairs from the Osage Restaurant is the Buffalo Bar, a great alternative to the restaurant if you do not have the required reservation at the Osage. The establishment is only open between the hours of 4 pm and 9 pm, however, tables are abundant inside and on the huge patio. On clear evenings chances are good that you will be seated quickly. On our visit, the hostess showed us to our table within a minute of arriving. Before long our server Makayla welcomed us and enquired if we knew what we wanted to drink. The punctual service continued without our meal which began with delicious complimentary mini loaves of fresh bread and rosemary honey butter. Such a fantastic way to start a meal. This unique rustic, western-themed bar is just as much a restaurant as it is a bar; in fact, it features the same menu as the restaurant above it. If you looking for a cheap meal, you won't find it here, however, you will get a meal and an atmosphere that would put a smile on the late President "Teddy" Roosevelt's face. Yes, your wallet may groan a bit when you pay for this five-star meal but your tastebuds screaming for joy will drown it out. To keep the billfold moans down, I decided to skip the very tempting beef options and go for the bone-in pork chop. Because the sides were $12 a piece, I opted for just one: the roasted corn. My girlfriend got the roasted chicken and did not notice that the sides were not included, so she ordered the sweet potato mash and the crispy Brussels sprouts. Everything was amazing and full of flavor!! The pork chop was cooked as I ordered it, keeping its moisture and tenderness. It was easy to cut with a butter knife. Her roasted chicken was the same, just as sweet and juicy, not under or overcooked. The sides hit the spot as well. Even the pickled pears they garnished my plate with went well with the pork chop and the divine chocked cherry dipping sauce. We had a great time visiting the Buffalo Bar at the top of the Rock. Our bartender was such a great host and shared so much history with us about Big Cedar Lodge. The bar is so special and perfect to make us feel that we were invited to a perfect getaway, and were true guests. The scenery is wonderful and full of historical artifacts. Well, the view is epic. Hands down perfection. It is $10 to get into the compound, then you have to park your car and then take a shuttle to the restaurant. I wish I had known that beforehand, I probably would have made a different dining decision for tonight. There are so many things to do here, there are golf carts you can get and drive around, caves, golf, you name it. The restaurant is right on the bluff overlooking the lake, a beautiful chapel next to it. The restaurant there are two levels, the top level is for reservations only, the bottom level is for walk-ins. I opted to sit on the patio since it was such a beautiful day. The interior of the restaurant had a large feel, complete with stuffed bison and bear. I ordered a glass of wine, lobster bisque to start and fillet and mashed potatoes for dinner. They brought out bread beforehand, took a while to get a glass of wine. The lobster bisque had a great flavor, only two chunks of meat. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with grilled onions. The mashed potatoes sadly were served cold. Everything is pretty high-priced so be sure to expect the high price tag. The sunset was so beautiful, I highly recommend coming to check it out. I asked for a to go box and a dessert to go, the sun went down and I was on the patio freezing, that wasn't very cool. Server was friendly, as baby cried for the last 20 mins. Here Today! Buffalo Bar is located inside Lost Canyon Cave & Nature Trail, Top of the Rock, Ridgedale, MO. We took golf carts to view the beauty of the Canyon and beautiful it was. After our excursion, we had the opportunity to have our lunch catered at Buffo Bar, beautiful restaurant just the most breath taking view of the canyon. The cook prepare, chargrilled chicken beast, honey crusted salmon (I think that's what our server said), garlic mashed potato's, salad w/house dressing, candid brussel sprouts and homemade variety cookies. It was my PASSENGERS complaint of the overly seasoned lemon/lime pepper chicken breast and how overcooked it was..extremely dry it was. For desert I choose the chocolate chip cookies which was scrumptious and oatmeal raisin cookies....yes yes yes my cavities screamed. MY only complaint was the fact our sever used his bare hands to pickup our cookies then placed them on the napkin. COVID COVID sir! Service was OUTSTANDING tho! IMO this place is overrated & over priced. This was our first trip to Top of the Rock so we did the cart tour & the museum but if you don't do those things, you have to pay $10 just to get to the restaurant. I read online no reservations recommended for Buffalo Bar so I called & they said they don't take them, signs around property said reservations recommended, employee there says walk ins only, and finally we get there & they say typically no reservations but that day they took reservations. So I'm still not sure if they take reservations & I don't think they know either. Most of us ordered the $70 dollar filet, that came out luke warm & so did the sides. We got onion straws that were more like thin onion rings with a super onion flavor, not a sweet onion. It was like eating a raw white onion. I also got a Caesar salad and it's pretty anchovy forward as just an fyi. My brother got the fried chicken & he said it was very tough. Apparently this was one of their busiest days so given that, I won't say anything about service. I get that they were busy but a place like this should be used to it. This is the "bar" but acts upscale & charges upscale prices. They are confused about their policies & identity. read more

This Bass Pro universe was kind of fun but stupidly expensive and overtly touristy. Starting with the $10 parking fee. Cave tours- make your own fun if you have kids. Sing the going on a bear hunt song (spoiler: there's a bear growling at the end in a cave; spoiler: speaker is visible if you walk up to it). There are some tiger sounds in the tunnel. Kids love splashing through the water. Drive under the dripping water as much as possible and do *slow* donuts in the large empty parking spaces. The actual cave part is so short it was laughable. I know this place was enormously expensive but I think its ridiculous this was ever touted as a cave tour. Its all entirely fabricated. The bat bar was a complete down. It's drive through you can't get out and hang in the cave at all (Carlsbad style!). There is another bat bar station by a cool lookout complete with bar bi*ches in short skirts/shorts- shame on you, girls). We spent $130 for 4 tickets and we had to really stretch to make it to an hour and a half. I think this would have been more fun as a walking tour, it's only 2.5 miles. I found this property extremely confusing. The museum (which you pay for whether you like it or not) is up the hill. The free shuttles are fast, don't walk, nobody does. The restaurants and chapel are also all up there. The First American museum was exquisite. It's enormous and so superbly done and was the best part of the trip. Tons of artifacts that are labeled well, beautiful artwork including some contemporary. Well designed, good flow, no bottlenecks. The kids enjoyed it ok, but I would have spent more time without them there We went to the buffalo bar, thinking we outsmarted the system. Wanted the view without the Osage pricing. Well joke was on us, the menu was the Osage menu, but you sit outside (right next to the golf players, some of them were obviously intoxicated and were swearing quite a bit, just fyi.) I don't understand why the upstairs and downstairs have different names. If we had planned better I would have liked to see the nightly sunset cannon/bagpipe performance but we were too early. It said on the menu there is a $10 entry fee for this event, but it wasn't clear to me if that is per person or table? Is it waived if you actually eat there? The food is actually incredible but very pricey. $32 fried chicken with no sides (best you'll ever have, though). Other primary dishes are quite a bit more than that (I'm looking at you, $50 ravioli). Kids meals are large, $12. The kids cheeseburger is super delicious and wasted on children, they don't even know. Sides are about $15 but large. The Brussels and sweet potatoes are absolutely amazing. The complimentary bread and whipped rosemary butter is incredible, but make sure you grab the soft rolls and not the giant crusty croutons they are impossible to bite into. Prepare for this meal to take a while, it's a loungey atmosphere and nobody is in a hurry. The waiter was very nice, but I found the hostess a bit *aloof* and not very appropriately dressed (a la bat bar girls). The property is beautiful and well manicured. The inside is like a labyrinth, we got lost and found a wine dungeon. I hear there is also a cigar room. We felt sort of underdressed since we had also hiked that day, but saw people in cocktail attire as well as jeans/shorts. So in just a few short hours we spent approximately $270 for a family of 4 plus a baby. Was outrageous. read more

The prices were pretty expensive, especially for patio seating at a chipped and warped rough wooden table that you'd expect at a super casual bbq restaurant. We sat outside to enjoy the sunset. Our spinach dip appetizer came on an oval wooden platter that was split and broken. Neither item looked right with the reidel wine glass. Service was friendly but spotty. If the cocktails are in the $24 range and steaks top out at $150, I expect polished service, not a table and serving pieces that belong in a garage sale. Also offended by a $20 valet fee. As a local, I've been able to sample most of their menu over time, however, this is a bar and not a restaurant, so don't expect large filling portions. Coming to Buffalo Bar is an experience, which is why I don't regret spending $10 to enter the Top of the Rock campus and traveling via shuttle to the bar. Make sure to arrive 30 minutes before sunset to see the cannon being fired and unique bagpipe performance. Great place to have dinner. Located at Top of the Rock in Ridgedale Missouri, not far from Branson Missouri. If you have not been to Top of the Rock, it is located in a building called Arnie's Barn. This was the actual barn of golfer Arnold Palmer which as purchased and placed here at Ridgedale Missouri, Inside this barn there is the golf shop to the par 3, 9 hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus. The Osage restaurant (another great place to eat), Arnie's barn restaurant (only open for lunch), and the Wine Cellar a bar where looks like you are in a cave. There is also a Wildlife and Heritage Museum a must see as well. The reason I chose the Buffalo Bar, is not only the food but they have everyday a sunset ceremony. A man dressed in a Scottish kilt plays the bag pipes then they shoot off a Civil War cannon. The men shooting off the cannon are dressed in Civil War attire. You have beautiful views of the sunset and Table Top Lake. The food at Buffalo Bar was excellent, I had their pappardelle pasta with chicken. My husband had the Genny Morris Buttermilk Fried Chicken. Both dishes were excellent and flavorful. If you are not a guest at Big Cedar Lodge you need to pay a $10 entry fee into the resort and follow the signs to the free parking where from there you take a free shuttle to Top of the Rock. You can also do valet which is $15. The service was fantastic. Staff was knowledgable regarding the menu and the sunset ceremony. The restaurant had a panoramic view of the Lake. Food and atmosphere were amazing! Unfortunately, the service was very disappointing. We went to what we thought was an upscale restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. There were not a lot of guests, so there quite a few wait staff standing around. So our lack of service was not due to the staff being overwhelmed. When we ordered our drinks, I asked for limes. We were brought lemons in a coffee mug. I had to ask for limes a second time. I did not have a fork at my place setting and had to ask for one. Our waitress offered to refill my husband's drink once, but never offered to refill mine. I had a water bottle with me and emptied it into my glass. We ordered an appetizer and then soups. All came out at the same time. After dinner our plates were not cleared away. Dessert was brought to our table and we had to stack our dirty plates and then move them to the other side of the table. Our waitress then asked for us to hand them to her, rather than walking around the table to pick them up. I ordered coffee with dessert. I had to ask for it twice. Then the waitress brought two cups of coffee. We only ordered one. And she did not bring a teaspoon to stir the cream and sugar. So we had to use our dessert utensil to stir the coffee. After the bill was presented the waitress never came back to the table. We left without anyone saying goodbye as we walked out of the restaurant. read more

Horrible $400 experience. Had the displeasure of dining at this supposed upscale restaurant on Saturday, 11/5/2022. My family and I had just finished the amazing and wonderful Top of the Rock golf cart tour and museum experience and decided to end our beautiful day with what we believed would be an upscale meal and dining experience. Boy were we horribly disappointed. 1) We ordered a bottle of Sparkling Wine to start - our server informed us they were out. We chose a different bottle and again were informed that they did not have the bottle. Then the bartender came over as apparently our server had informed her that we were in need of assistance - tried selling us on Moscato or Prosecco, ummm no thank you. My husband and I love Sparkling Wine and know it very well. We just couldn't justify paying $150+ for a bottle of Chandon that we know for a fact costs, at most, $25 (with tax) that is just an egregious markup. Needless to say, I really wanted to celebrate our wonderful day, so I decided to move forward with the $155 bottle of Sparkling Wine. When our server, who mind you was training another server, brought the bottle over she just placed the bottle on the table, NO CHILLER just the bottle on the table. Wow, just wow. I asked the trainee if I could have a chiller for the Sparkling Wine, which was eventually brought over. 2) We ordered the Braised Pork Cheek as an appetizer. It tasted just like pot roast, nothing at all like pork cheek. 3) Our server came over SEVERAL times and asked us if we were ready to order. Mind you we prefaced our introduction as we were going to be there for a while to absorb the atmosphere, view and the fine dining experience. Whatever to this statement as our server seemed in a rush to get us in and out. Perhaps because we were not dressed to par? Again, we were in comfortable clothing as we had spent the day on the golf cart tour and museum experience. Here is the kicker...although she, our server, came over many times to ask if we were ready to order, never did she think to refill our nearly empty flutes of sparkling wine. Okay, fine, no fine dining experience - Got it! I will serve myself. 4) I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass - if you want to save some money, just go buy frozen Van De Kamp's Fish Sticks, pretty much tastes the same....I AM NOT KIDDING! 5) My husband ordered the Lamb Rack - nothing special. No special seasoning, the chef here just basically takes it and cooks it, no pizzazz just bland Rack of Lamb 6) We ordered the mac & cheese for our daughter which came with a side of fruit. When our meal was brought to our table the fruit was forgotten. We reminded our servers and her cantaloupe was eventually brought out. 7) I ordered the Crispy Bussell Sprouts - which were good, however when they were brought out the temperature was just slightly above lukewarm. Ummm, how long had those been sitting? In any other restaurant, we would have stayed, ordered dessert and a few more cocktails. We could not wait to get out of there. We had a great meal here after the golf cart tour. After eating the bread they brought, my salad arrived. It was perfectly dressed with a sweet and tart vinaigrette! It tasted like the walnuts had a little chipotle or some other light spice that was just enough to balance with the dressing. The lamb was delicious. It was perfectly cooked and a large portion for the price! My wife had the fried chicken which she raved about! The bite I had was juicy and tender. It went perfectly with the gravy. We split mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. Both were incredible, flavorful, and again large portions. The mashed potatoes had a light but delicious garlic flavor and the brussel sprouts had large bites of bacon in them. They were tender, not at all bitter, and absolutely incredible. The kids had Mac n cheese and fruit. The Mac was wonderfully creamy and reminded me of a home cooked comfort meal! The fruit was very fresh and juicy. For me personally, the only knock I have on the food was the dessert. Although it was good, it didn't hold a candle to the dinner! I had the peach and blueberry crisp. I felt like it needed a scoop of ice cream to balance out the tartness of the fruit(which I stole from my daughter and confirmed). My wife had the butter cake which had a very sugary(almost grainy) texture. I'm not a normal butter cake eater, so if this is normal, it was great, but it just wasn't for me. The kids ice cream was yummy. The scenery was awesome and it was just loud enough inside that I felt comfortable with my 3 and 4 year olds. This is obviously a tourist oriented bar/restaurant and was the lesser of the two options. Even at that, the service was quite poor. It took over a half hour to get a seat, then we had to flag down a server to get service and rolls. The prices were ridiculously high (well over $100 for two people who drank only water) and the cheapest entrees were selected (Chicken and salmon and 2 sharable sides- no dessert). The food quality was fine, but that was expected. The scenery of the location was incredible, but the restaurant needs some tougher supervision and management of employees to develop a better sense of urgency. read more

Bar manager walked by our table and said, "I'm not listening to this song", and went and skipped the song playing on the Touch Tunes and all the others behind it. The manager had no idea who selected the song, but it was selected by our party, "Proud to be an American". This was not a replay, replay, etc. situation. When confronted about the fact that she eliminated the entire song list, she made a bunch of BS excuses with no offer of remedy. This is a tourist town and the Buffalo Bar treats you like you won't be back. We won't. Food was meh. read more
