Such a cute and cool stop on our golf cart tour. They had a few things to pick from and a bunch of IPAs.

A little underwhelming but the overall experience was really fun. Worth the wait. Go for it.

I accept being shown what I'm seeing when I am looking here. I accept this is among the experiences being curated for guests who travel here to take in. What a disgrace. What disrespect for the staff is displayed by the management's endorsement. The majority of the guest facing staff one encounters at Big Cedar Lodge are international hospitality students working hard and learning a trade, which greatly enhances the guest's quality of service. It was a pleasure to be attended to by their sincere desire to excel; to help better anticipate guests' accommodations.

There is not a dress code here which was nice as we were not dressed up for the upscale dining experience. The elk soup was phenomenal really surprised me although I ordered it extra hot and it was warm at best. The whipped honey butter with truffle sea salt was amazing as well. Honestly, this fine dining experience is worth the price!

I ordered a paloma for my wife and I, priced at $22 each -- this would be $9-$14 back in KC... I get it, resort prices, but still got sticker shock. While it looked beautiful, it was not good. Very underwhelming for what you pay, and sparse on alcohol. We got some spinach artichoke dip which was really good and helped salvage the experience. The view out on the patio is nice; you're on "the top of the rock" overlooking the lake and a golf course. It's quite manicured up there, but it's nice either way. We stuck around for the sunset show with bagpipes and a cannon firing which was interesting. At one point he played "Dixie" on the bagpipes, what the hell?? but otherwise it was kind of interesting. So much of the menu here is similar to all their other restaurants, and I found it confusing to keep up with what is what. My take on Big Cedar restaurants after a few days is that Worman House is amazing, as is Truman for breakfast, everything else is kind of all the same average spot mixed together.

They also have a kids' menu, even though it is not listed on the regular menu, which is nice to know if you are bringing children with you. The staff is always awesome, friendly, and welcoming. I also love that the restaurant is located inside an old historic hotel, which gives it such a cool atmosphere -- and maybe even a few ghost stories. Overall, it is a great spot with good food, great service, and a fun historic feel. I definitely recommend checking it out.

The poutine was fabulous. The fry coating was crisp and tasty and the gravy was full of flavor. The Reuben sandwich is outstanding! The way they cut that corned beef was nothing short of magic. An egg on there? What? I've never heard of such a thing, but yes please. And I had the brûlée corn; which I may need to learn how to replicate because I've never seen this on any menu in Chicago, but it's too far to travel as often as I'll be thinking about that dish! The old fashions were smooth! Went with vanilla and loved the subtle flavors. Everyone was so nice and the atmosphere was a delightful mix of old school pub/English castle. All of it was just what I was hoping to find. Food off the beaten path that deserves a huge shout out. In a town of bland flavors, this place shines like a real gem!
