I was really looking forward to celebrating my birthday at Osa Rooftop, but unfortunately the experience started off on a disappointing note. My group arrived after the grace period, which I completely understand is our responsibility. The issue wasn't that our reservation couldn't be honored--it was how the situation was handled. We had difficulty finding parking, which caused the delay, and I tried reaching the restaurant by both phone and message to let them know. Unfortunately, I was only able to reach an AI system, so there was no way to speak with someone directly. When we arrived, I politely explained what had happened to the hostess, but instead of showing any understanding, she was dismissive and hostile. She repeatedly said she was busy and told us our only options were a high-top table or seats at the bar. One of the people in our party was pregnant, yet no effort was made to accommodate her or consider that a bar seat or high chair wasn't appropriate. Thankfully, our server was incredibly kind and immediately found my pregnant friend a more comfortable chair, which we truly appreciated. However, what made the situation even more frustrating was that an empty standard table sat directly in front of us for over an hour. It remained available the entire time, yet no one ever offered to move us or even checked whether we would like to switch. The service from our server was excellent and the food was great, but the lack of empathy and hospitality from the hostess really overshadowed what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. I understand restaurants have policies, but kindness, communication, and basic customer service go a long way. Came by on Monday night without a reservation for a party of 6 and was seated fairly quickly. The aesthetics looked so nice. The weather was great, the outdoor seating was superb and the black and white movie added a nice touch to the experience. There was a football game on that was playing by the bar so my friends seemed to have appreciated that haha. Sadly, the food and drinks were not as great as the aesthetics. The drinks were okay given the price. I ordered the Rosedena and I LOVED the floral taste. It was so nice and light. Our table ordered the truffle fries and tostones which were pretty good. Had a 6:45 reservation and they weren't very busy so we were sat right away. The atmosphere is unreal. The rooftop is beautiful and the black and white movie projected on the wall really makes the space. We shared the strawberry gazpacho which was delicious, the meatballs which were my favorite, the beef carpaccio which was so good, and the Brussels sprouts which were pretty standard. Food - 4/5 - We got drinks at the bar as well as some small plates to share. The small plates we chose were the tuna tartare and crispy Brussels sprouts. I ordered the mocktail - Merry Roses, and my friends tried a cocktail from the menu, Drop the Beet and the Cucumber Vesper. Mocktails are $15 per drink and the cocktails were $18 per drink. Wine prices vary, per glass or by the bottle. Starting with the drinks, I found the Merry Roses to taste like grapefruit sparkling water with a hint more of grapefruit and lemon. In my opinion it was not worth $15. I should have ordered a mocktail version of something else instead. It was alright as a drink but it was kind of underwhelming. The Cucumber Vesper was cucumber, gin and vodka, which was exactly as it sounds. The Drop the Beet was a bit tart with tequila, I would wish it was sweeter if I ordered it but that is my personal preference. Overall, the drinks were alright but I do see room for improvement in terms of recipes or expanding their signature menu. As for food, both dishes were small plates and great for sharing. The tuna tartare was fresh and paired well with the avocado. The fried nori it came with was a bit flimsy, possibly due to the humidity in the air as we are on the rooftop, I wish it had a little bit more crisp crunch by having some tempura batter on it. At least that's how I've had it in the past at other establishments or at home, I find it helps with the structural integrity of the crisp to eat with the tuna. Besides that, I really liked it. The Brussels sprouts were my favourite though. I loved the dressing and how crisp the leaves were. I would definitely recommend at least getting the brussels sprouts if you chose anything from the small plate menu. Price - $$$ - I think everything is slightly overpriced compared to what you would expect for what the item is, but it is due to the atmosphere and ambiance. It's more elevated and chic and you are paying for the vibes mostly. Service - 5/5 - The service here was amazing, every server, host and bartender where super friendly. I felt welcomed and they made our experience here very sweet. Ambiance - 5/5 - The view from this rooftop is so cute and I love the decor. I think the vibes here are made by this chic ambiance. The space is gorgeous and intimate. Great for date night or girls night! I think what would elevate this even more is if they would be able to incorporate live music on the weekends, it would definitely make the space even more luxurious. Omg I had such a wonderful experience here. I had Osa Rooftop bookmarked after seeing a Yelp event here and thanks to Nikki B for the reminder! I was in the area with my hubby and fur baby and wanted a place to have dinner. We came around 5pm on Friday and they still had open seating without needed reservations. Our server, Aileen, took such amazing care of us. She was so bubbly, gave excellent recommendations and checked on us often. I started with the Vesper Cucumber, which was their twist on a martini of Mulholland gin and vodka, California and French vermouths with fresh cucumber for a bright, soothing finish. He sipped on the Skylark Italian Pilsner. They paired really well with the food we got. We started with the marinated olives stuffed with ricotta and Calabrian chile. Wished the olives had a little more kick from the Calabrian chile. However, the other two items we had sent us: The Burrata Salad ($21) usually with peach, but persimmons for the season, burrata cheese, green garlic chimichurri, thyme breadcrumb and charred broccolini. It was bigger than expected and was plenty for 2+! Zesty with lemon juices, crispy with herbed bread crumbs and so flavorful! This was a surprising dish, along with the next. Grilled Swordfish ($36) Creamy yellow corn, salsa criolla, ajo verde - okay, I am not usually a fan of swordfish because it tends to be tough and dry, but this steak was tender, cooked perfectly and the corn cream and ajo verde sauces made this dish absolutely heavenly. The thinly sliced onions and parsley on top served as great garnishes to the fish too. Because this is a rooftop restaurant, they had rolled up blankets and heat lamps to keep people warm. A stylish rooftop restaurant located on the 6th floor of the AC Hotel in Pasadena, this spot offers beautiful views and a great outdoor ambiance, though you're definitely paying more for the view than the food. We had a reservation for five for brunch and were lucky to have perfect weather. The menu was fairly limited, roasted beets were unavailable, and peaches had been swapped for mandarin oranges since they're out of season. We shared: Crispy Brussels Sprouts Wagyu & Pork Meatballs Beet Carpaccio Hand-Pressed Tostones Mandarin Orange Burrata Salad Steak Frites and a few of us tried the Triple Cali Spritz. Unfortunately, one of our drinks came with a dead bug in it--thankfully my friend spotted it before drinking, and they replaced it maybe finally 10 minutes later. The tostones were the highlight of our meal: crispy fried plantains served with flavorful black bean dip and guacamole. However, the rest of the food was quite bland, and the burrata salad was especially disappointing, it had barely a spoonful of burrata. Service was also very slow. We ordered the raspberry cheesecake for dessert per our server's recommendation, but what arrived was a plain cheesecake with caramel drizzle instead. To make things even more awkward, the manager brought us large serving spoons to eat it with. By the time our meal ended, we had been there for over 2.5 hours. One final note: the unisex restrooms each have their own sink but no soap inside. The communal soap & sink station outside is shared, which raises hygiene concerns since guests have to touch the door before washing up. My friend and I came to celebrate her mom's birthday with a small cute brunch; however, the end of the day resulted with being ambushed by our server in the women's restroom. We came for drinks and some food, I know it is expected to leave a tip but my friend just wanted to give her mom a nice experience for her birthday so we came here. I understand tipping is nice but it shouldn't be expected. It's not our fault that you're not paid a living wage. This wasn't the main issue though, it was that the literal server came after us into the women's restroom demanding an explanation for why there was no tip. This was completely inappropriate and we felt horrified being followed into the restroom by a male server. Horrible experience that we went through and totally ruined the morning. We didn't get his name, he was a 40 year old man that told us his background was from Chihuahua, Mexico, he had a full beard and was wearing his hair in a man bun. Entrance is right on Colorado, separate from AC Hotel. I made a reservation just in case, we were seated immediately. Service was quick and easy. Food was delicious, we shared the breakfast sandwich and French toast. We came here for Father's Day, and unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. I should have trusted the Yelp reviews. Several reviewers mentioned that the steak was tough and chewy, but those comments were from about eight months ago, so I assumed the restaurant had improved by now. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. My daughter ordered the Steak Frites and couldn't even cut through the steak with the steak knife, let alone chew it. We ordered it medium rare, and while it looked almost raw when it arrived, it was somehow still incredibly tough and chewy. It was so difficult to eat that my jaw actually started hurting from chewing it. I brought it to the waitress's attention. Looking back, I probably should have asked for it to be removed from the bill entirely. Instead, she offered to replace it with a different cut of steak that she said would be more tender but cost more. And I fell for it, I agreed. The replacement steak arrived with only peppercorn sauce and no fries or sides (which she had mentioned beforehand), but what she didn't mention was how unpleasant the sauce was. At that point, I honestly wished we had just gone to Houston's. The one positive thing I can say is that we were seated on a side with a nice view of the surrounding buildings and street, which was enjoyable. Situated on top of the AC Hotel, OSA offers a panoramic view of the SGV Mountains and the opportunity to catch a stunning sunset in the evening. I was fortunate to grab a reservation on a Friday night to celebrate my "brother's" birthday. The open-air terrace gets its charm from a desert-inspired color scheme and an Olive tree in the center. The menu features seasonal coastal Baja inspired dishes sprinkled with a bit of Cali flair. The cocktails are equally creative featuring ingredients such as beet juice & nopales. Our server was Delaiah and she was the best! Friendly & attentive the entire evening. (The two hosts that were working the night of 9/19 were also great too.) Our first round of cocktails were: Swift Relief & Triple Cali Spritz. Both were light & refreshing - perfect for the summer evening. For our second round we got Drop the Beet & Ol' Californica. I was skeptical of Drop the Beet because of the beet juice but I didn't notice it. It was a tasty twist on a margarita. The Ol' Californica was a riff on an Old Fashioned featuring a toasted walnut infused bourbon. It was exceptionally smooth. We decided to share several dishes: Roasted Beets, Peach Burrata Salad, & Truffle Shoestring Fries. Everything was absolutely delicious! The roasted beets were al dente and paired well with the whipped goat cheese. The Peach Burrata Salad featured sliced fresh peaches with charred broccolini with a green chimichurri and a creamy burrata cheese. It was exceptionally good. The shoestring fries were tossed in rosemary salt, truffle oil, & garlic. They were dangerously addicting. Just before sunset a live jazz ensemble started to perform. My brother and I soaked in the ambience and the view. What made the night even more special was Delaiah treating my brother to a birthday ice cream so he could make a wish. Thank you Deliaiah! Came here last weekend with some friends after a retirement party nearby. Had wanted to check it out after hearing about a new rooftop spot, and it was literally like three blocks away, so we walked over. It wasn't very crowded on a Sunday at stuff 3p, so we were able to get a table for eight pretty easily. First, the ambience. Very nice. Have views of the foothills behind Pasadena as well as some of old town. Just very charging and quaint. We weren't overly hungry as we had smoke food at the party, but we did order drinks and appetizers. The cocktails, on menu, were creative in their own way, and some of them got while others felt like they needed more flexor to come through. As for the appetizers, we got the showering fries, which were fairly basic with garlic and truffle with with rosemary salt, and we also tried the hand pressed tostones which are twice fried banana chips served with brand and guacamole. This was a creative dish, never thought about twice frying banana chips, but that banana flavor did not come through for us, tasted more like a potato. Overall, nice ambiance with relaxing views, not overly busy. Drinks can be hit or miss and I can't really comment on the good as we only tried two appetizers. If you're looking for a new rooftop to hang out and try, you can give Osa a chance. read more

The host did not know how to seat people over 6 foot and placed me and my date in a tiny two top that was crammed. We ordered half the menu and everything was beneath mediocre. Awful attitudes and energy partnered with poorly done premium plates means your restaurant will fail. What a waste of a hotel rooftop I'm happier at a taco dollar in LA. My husband, daughter (1 year old) and I were seated promptly (arriving around 545pm) - the hostess was really helpful getting up setup in a high top with a high chair (yes, strange setup but we took what we could get). We were greeted quickly once we sat down (it wasn't too busy yet). We ordered the meatballs, tostones, king salmon crudo and burger. Food was solid and simple. It's a hotel restaurant with a lovely view so expect a bit of a higher price point. They had live music starting around 730pm and it was starting to get really lively as we were leaving. The rooftop itself is beautiful, with incredible views of Pasadena and such a fun atmosphere for a date night or girls lunch. The service was friendly and attentive, and every dish we ordered was delicious. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the lobster roll was buttery and the steak was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Everything tasted fresh and thoughtfully prepared. Between the food, the ambiance, and the views, it was one of my favorite dining experiences in Pasadena. I really really dislike giving anything less than 5 stars. But let's be clear - this is about the food, the Dine LA menu and my personal experience of OSA last Friday evening. The service we got from Emmanuel was 5 stars, no doubt. If we were to come back, it would be solely because of him and his can-do attitude. There is no question about the excellence of his service. I knew from the moment the hostess seated us that I was going to have issues. She placed us at a table directly across the hostess' lectern (not podium!) and the problem with this location is that it is the intersection of where it is busiest. Busboys and servers walking to and from the kitchen compounded by the crowding of guests around the hostess (and therefore right by me) made for stressful vibes. The energy I felt was so frantic that I could even literally feel the vibrations of people walking briskly behind me (the floor was reverberating all this activity) or talking loudly right behind my chair. I beg management to try and sit where I did and have a meal - see if you can understand why I was in fight or flight the whole time. It was not relaxing at all. Your rooftop is supposed to feel zen and carefree. I did not feel either. If I was sat elsewhere, my experience would've been wildly different. As for the Dine LA menu, it was disappointing because it was obvious that they provided the extra dishes (cauliflower and pasta) to justify charging $65. I'll admit that the cauliflower was tasty but was it necessary? The pasta was just a big plate of fusilli with vodka sauce slapped on top. There wasn't that much sauce and the meager sauce given didn't even adhere to the pasta. It seemed like this dish was added as an afterthought. If they just took out both cauliflower and pasta and focused on maybe giving a bigger portion of the fish appetizers and the dessert, they could've still easily charged $65 and people would've found it to be of good value. Would adding a little more protein to the fish appetizers or maybe making the dessert a little more substantial (and taking away the unnecessary filler courses) hurt the bottom line? Don't get me wrong - the first appetizers (crudo and tuna tartare) were FANTASTIC. Tasty AF and memorable. Loved the dressing on the crudo. And the avocado puree which formed the base of the tuna tartare was perfection. The mains were lovely as well - lamb and steak frites. This portion of the dinner along with Emmanuel's wonderful service is what made us happy. They ran out of the dessert (chocolate mousse) so they asked us if we instead wanted the vanilla gelato or the dulce de Leche cake. The ice cream was nothing special. And the dulce de Leche cake was such a tiny portion - look at the photo for reference: it was literally the size of my teaspoon. We usually judge a restaurant by its dine LA menu to ascertain if we want to come back. Because of our experience, I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon. It opened last year I think, so maybe after a few years of being in business they'll have ironed out these issues and made needed improvements. Hands down, the most delicious Smashburger I've had in ages and I don't say that lightly. Osa Rooftop Bar in Pasadena absolutely nailed it. Two juicy patties, melty cheese, grilled onions, and a perfectly toasted sesame bun came together in burger bliss. I wasn't even that hungry, but honey, that burger and fries combo was unforgettable. And trust me, I know my way around a great burger joint. I stopped by with my cousin while in town for a housing convention, and we wanted a chill spot to catch up. Osa, located inside the AC Hotel Pasadena, delivered on every front. The rooftop setting offers sweeping views of Old Pasadena, City Hall, and the Capitol building. At sunset, it feels more like Miami than SoCal breezy, vibrant, and effortlessly chic. The vibe? Sexy and energetic. Fire pits, a live DJ (it was Friday night), and lively music set the tone. Even though we were seated indoors, the open layout made us feel part of the rooftop scene. The Berry Root cocktail was a standout; it was bubbly, balanced, and beautifully mixed. Highly recommend it. Service was top-tier. Our server and hostess were genuinely sweet and attentive. You can tell the staff knows they're working at one of Pasadena's hottest spots, and they bring their A-game in hospitality. We wrapped up with the chocolate mousse--light, not overly sweet, and plated to perfection. Total Instagram moment. I only wish we'd come hungrier so we could've explored more of the menu. Bonus: plenty of street parking and valet available if you're feeling fancy. Across the street is Eurth Café, another lively spot with music and a great breakfast vibe all night long. This whole area is buzzing with energy, great eats, and beautiful people of all ages enjoying the sunshine and scenery. I'll absolutely be back next time I'm in LA. Osa is exactly what Pasadena needed. A stunning rooftop with panoramic views of this gorgeous city, paired with a vibe that feels both elevated and welcoming. From the moment you walk in, the staff feels hand picked, attentive, warm, and skilled at creating an experience that feels special. And the food... wow. Let's talk about the Osa Burger. Quite possibly the best burger I've ever had. Juicy, perfectly seasoned, and indulgent without being over the top. And those fries, oh my goodness. They brought back that nostalgic memory of McDonald's fries at their absolute best (a 15 year old memory haha). Crispy, golden, addictive, they're that good. We also tried the tostones with avocado and black bean dip as an appetizer, and it was perfection, flavorful, filling, and super shareable. A little tip, plantains are hearty, so if you're just two people, pace yourself before the main course. Definitely best enjoyed fresh at the restaurant, since tostones don't travel well. For drinks, I ordered the Merry Roses mocktail, and honestly, I couldn't even tell if it was mocktail or cocktail. Perfectly balanced, refreshing, and a total palate awakener. We've already been twice, and we're planning a third visit soon to celebrate a loved one's birthday, it's that good. One note, make a reservation ahead of time, because you're going to need it.
