I've already placed my review on here for Orkin. I sincerely hope that anyone else highly considers going elsewhere. They don't listen, they treated my Veteran uncle like garbage, especially the man that came to our home. I have a commercial account with Orkin (Dallas, TX), including a Termite Bond for a 34-building apartment community. While I've only had to call for termite issues a few times over the past two years, the process of requesting service has become increasingly frustrating and difficult. More often than not, I cannot get through to anyone by phone. When I do manage to speak with someone, I'm told that a service request has been submitted and someone will follow up. Weeks go by, and I never receive a return call. This most recent time, I've been waiting over two weeks with no response. I pay over $5,000 annually for this service, and frankly, I feel like I'm getting nothing in return. When I do request service, I can't even get a call back, let alone a visit. To make matters worse, their required "Annual Inspection" this year was completely inadequate. The technician was on-site for no more than 20 minutes and never even checked in with my office. Instead, they flagged down a maintenance tech to sign off on the inspection paperwork. With 34 buildings to inspect, I have to ask -- what exactly did they inspect in such a short time? Fortunately, my contract is expiring soon, and I will not be renewing. Based on my experience, I cannot in good faith recommend Orkin to any other commercial property manager. Please do not use their service. They charge a lot of money but provide no real help. The first visit cost us $250, and they did almost nothing -- they just closed one hole and that was it. No treatment, no solution for the mice problem. Later they asked if we wanted a monthly subscription for inspections. I clearly said no, but they still signed us up and charged us anyway. The money is non-refundable. After they closed the hole, the mouse left, and we are sure it exited through that same hole behind the dishwasher -- it was the only hole we had. However, they kept insisting the mouse came from somewhere else, which is not true. Overall, this was a complete waste of money. Very disappointing experience. I would make it zero stars if allowed, Orkin sucks in plain terms. I was looking to leave Terminix due to technicians not showing up at agreed upon times only to have my INITIAL treatment as a new customer canceled by text 20 minutes after they confirmed I was next with a lame "we're sorry for the inconvenience, due to unforeseen circumstances" I called to reschedule & complain, customer service was rude saying "Ma'am, I'm not the one who didn't show up at your home" then calling 3 additional times, on hold for 29 minutes with no response & finally being told last Wednesday, can't reach local office they'll call you back within 24-48 hrs, hello.... it's been 6 days! If this is how they treat a new customer, I wonder how it is once you're established. I will now go with Fox pest control & hope they do better as my friend says they do. A little over a year ago we hired Orkin because we found Bed bugs! And we still have them!!! They come 1-2 times a months for 13 months! I'm always calling and complaining and mention the money back guarantee and the manager is not trying to hear that!!!! read more

I used Orkin in Gurnee, IL for years with nothing but continued problems. My local people were nice and tried to help but my issues never went away. I spent thousands of dollars, doing every plan and service they recommended. Years later, I still have mice issues. When I called to cancel my services, they did not seem to care. I had Orkin come to my house on March 13th after spotting a mouse inside. When the technician arrived, he caused me a lot of stress by claiming that I had a mouse infestation and recommending that I remove all the insulation in my attic and replace it with their own. He pointed to what he claimed were tracks left by the mice in my insulation, saying there were a lot of them. The proposed solution was going to cost me over $10,000. My wife wasn't comfortable with this, so we decided to get a second opinion. Orkin charged me $270 for their visit, but all they did was place four poison traps for the mice. A second expert I called out was extremely honest and thorough--he walked through the entire house with me and showed me that the so-called "tracks" were actually just marks from the electrical wiring in the attic, not mouse trails. Turns out, I didn't have a mouse infestation at all. I've had mouse traps set for over two weeks now, and the house has been empty for over a week with no signs of mouse activity. The traps remain untouched. It appears that the poison Orkin placed may have killed the single mouse I had, but I can't find it, and now there's a terrible smell in the house. I contacted Orkin to complain and was told a manager would call me back the same day, but it's been three days and I'm still waiting for a response. I am demanding a refund. Orkin's tactics were deceptive, and they tried to upsell me on unnecessary services. After I refused the $10,000 quote to replace the insulation, the technician called me back three times, and on the third call, he offered to do the work for just over $9,000. This is nothing short of extortion. I would strongly recommend avoiding Orkin. They are dishonest, and I feel taken advantage of. read more

However, I hired Orkin 2 months ago and told them I had pets- they left sticky pads all over my house without telling me (my pet got stuck to one of them before I found them all) - so I immediately canceled my subscription- I asked to speak to a manager about the matter and no one ever called me back. They Just charged my debit card another $112 dollars when no one even showed up to my house for a subsequent visit (i canceled my membership). read more

The customer service at Orkin was absolutely horrible. I had called for same day service as I had an issue and was heading out of town for an extended period of time. They only allowed me the option for same day service if I locked myself into a 1-year contract with them. I read the contract and understood that it could be cancelled within 3 business days. When I called to cancel, I was met with complete dismissal of my concerns and a very hostile interaction. Will never be giving my business to them. Interesting tactic for building out a customer base. As someone who is in sales - never burn bridges, as a lost customer can always become a new customer again. read more

Orkin runs like a scam company, and were about as effective as one too. We called them for mice issues, and the traps they bought were the cheapest think you could find on the internet, and they didn't even work. We found mouse fur in them but never mice. They charged us over $100 each time, just to drop off these paper traps. We tried to cancel, but it was like pulling teeth, and when we finally were successful they needed 30 days, which meant another $100+ visit and charge. They literally did nothing, charged an arm and a leg, and made it difficult to get out. Worst pest experience we have ever had. read more

I would give 0 stars if possible. I'm never someone to complain, but Orkin is a complete rip off. I had a rat issue in my condo, the guy came out, set up 2 mouse traps and said, good luck. I was scared to go in on day the came after seeing the rat. When my dad came over, he realized they basically did nothing. I called them back and said, I have rats not mice... so, they came back to set up rat traps. I asked if they would be looking to plug in holes and help me to stop this from happening. They did absolutely nothing, the guy told me that they don't do that, and that he didn't have any steel wool or anything anyways. I paid $250 for them to set up 2 traps. Basically, since I've enlisted my entire family to catch the rats and find all The potential holes. I absolutely would never recommend Orkin, they are a garbage company. read more

Called to cancel my service the 1st week of October and was told it would be taken care of. I asked for an email to follow up the conversation person assured me a manager would follow up in 24 to 48 hours. Bank account still charged in October so I called back spoke to another person no results. Called back again irate and asked to speak to a supervisor, spoke to one who once again stated would follow up with me nothing. I have a claim in with my bank to reject all charges from Orkin, never again. read more

I have had an Orkin subscription for about 3 months and I still have mice in my home. They initially had an inspector come out and we identified all entry and exit points for the mice, and the work has been done to seal those areas yet the mice are still present. Each month I am paying a minimum of $50 and they have put down $20 worth of traps that you can get from any ACE hardware store, but have not attempted to locate the mice or investigate further. The only commendable thing is that they will come out pretty soon after you've requested but the visit is not very informative, and reminds you of how you're wasting money. read more

After Christmas I called to postpone my service before the next scheduled appointment, I kept receiving calls day after day saying that they were on their way to my house, I had to call back at least 5 times, then I get a bill in March saying that they been charging me the whole time and have no record that I postponed the service, yet they were never let in my house. I called Orkin for a quote for residential pest control services. I decided not to hire them because I was told that the only way I could hire them was to read my credit card info over the phone. I refused. Never read your card number over the phone! I asked for a link in an email as a bill to input my info sercurely but was told they don't do that. it sounded like a rip off and I treated them as such. read more

I can't believe we called them for service without reading these reviews. My mother got bed bugs and so far I'm out nearly $2k and we still have bed bugs. They keep sending a guy over here who uses his iphone flashlight to find evidence of the bed bugs. No wonder he never finds them. Do not waste your money and time here. They are not professional exterminators- just some franchisees that hire kids to come spray your house and overcharge for ineffective service. read more

Roaches got into my apartment from my neighbor's apartment below me. After over 5 months of Orkin, l saw no improvement. Their guys would just show up, spray around my cabinet, occasionally use bait or glue boards, then leave. My problem never improved. In fact, it seemed like l'd see more roaches a couple of days after they were here. l became frustrated with the lack of improvement, and ended the service. I then took to the internet, did some research, and got rid of the roaches on my own. I hate that l wasted money on Orkin. By the way, I used a combination of boric acid, diatomaceous earth powder, and bait to rid my apartment of roaches. read more

Had a mouse problem. We understood that the exclusion of the mice from getting into the home was the key concern. Orkin came and put bait traps- initial cost $250. Showed up once for 5 minutes in the next two months and charged us another $111. Still have mice, after spending $360. An 'assessor' came out and quoted us over $8000 to put exclusion material on the exterior of our home. Also spent over two hours in our home and tried to sell us extra insulation for laughably cringey explanations. So we're left with an ongoing problem with mice that's costing us $55 for a 5 minute visit every month to check bait forever, or spending $8000. Orkin states those are the only options. We've moved on, because we know that they are looking for money, and not efficient solutions. read more

Absolutely awful!!! We have been paying monthly for their service and it is the biggest waste of money! We initially hired them for spiders and bugs in the house, my infant son would wake up with bites. They would come out to spray and we noticed no difference, so there were multiple occasions we had to call them to come back with a "different formula" which never really fixed the issue. I called to cancel and they stated I owed a significant amount of money, even though I have been paying them monthly. They would not budge with this, despite how unhappy we have been with their service. If I could give them a 0 I would. Very unhappy with them and it is quite expensive for them to come out once every other month, spraying a chemical that did not fix our issue at all. read more

We have bees in the walls. We called other pest control places and they could not come out for a few days. We called Orkin and they could come out the same day. However, what they don't tell you is that an "inspector" will be out to assess the issue. Your issue is not resolved that day. We had no idea. The inspector did not come out the same day. They gave us a window of 2 hours, no show, no call. I called 45 minutes after the 2 hour window and no one had any idea why there was a no show. She put me on hold to check and we got disconnected. I will assume I wasn't hung up on. NO one called me back. I waited for over 5 mins and called back. They told me they can only call out so dropped calls are not returned. Turns out we had a large amount of rain and a few roads were flooded out so he was unable to come. Not a problem but no one could call us to let us know? Another employee called us after my call. He was to come out the next day. We still are not aware at this point that he is only there to assess the issue. He came out and was a nice young man. He informed us he was only assessing and someone would call to make an appointment. HOWEVER, we needed to pay him for the appointment ahead of time; we paid. Another day goes by and we now have an appointment on the calendar. I asked the person on the phone how the process would work, do we need to be out of the house, are the chemicals safe; she informed me that she only makes appointments and can not answer any questions. So I ask, can someone call me to answer my questions. She said the tech will answer when he comes out. Again, can someone call me ahead of time. Her response was that she will ask him but can't guarantee it. What??? The tech comes out and I ask about the process. He at first said he didn't know. He walked up our stairs to the room and left a trail of mud on our stairs. I mentioned it and he went back down the stairs in the same shoes trailing the mud again to put on shoe coverings. Maybe you should have led with that? Then he talked with the inspector and told us he was going to poke holes in the wall and put powder in it. I asked about spraying where they come in. He can't do that because he doesn't have a ladder tall enough. Again, WHAT?? Why is there no communication between people at your company. This makes no sense to me. He poked holes, sprayed out the window close to where the bees are coming in but not where they are actually coming and couldn't get out of our home fast enough. He told us they are not allowed to go on a ladder above the first floor. So in other words, you were the wrong company for the job. HORRIBLE customer service, HORRIBLE communication internally and externally. We will NEVER call Orkin again. My husband had to get the ladder out and spray the outside of the house himself. I used Orkin a while back after one of the guys retired. He told me that they only use a very small portion of the stuff. That's why they never get rid of the bugs. They are the worst company out there. It cost me a lot of money. For them plus the new furniture they are a rip off and this is the do not supposed will never get rid of anything. After the man retired from he came out did our apartment everything was gone. That's when he told us that they do not use all their stuff. He could not say nothing while he was working for them or he would've lost his job, but he came to us after and got rid of them in know time., all they do is charge a lot of money and they keep coming back and re-spraying and they do not use the full amount of their spray. Wish I could give them no stars! They're terrible. I first signed up because I was having an issue with mice, when they came out they were timely and laid traps around my home. The traps they laid didn't catch anything so I went and bought my own traps and caught 3 mice. I called them and told them that their traps weren't working, they did nothing about it. They lie when they advertise that they'll come out if you have increased activity. They also lie about the satisfaction guarantee or get a month free. They're supervisors are jokes, they have piss poor follow up and no real solutions. Try terminix, they're more expensive but more reliable. read more

I scheduled an appointment for roach prevention 1.5 years ago in Aug and they keep on coming every month and baiting. But the cockroaches have not died, they keep on coming and sometimes increase. I tried to call them but the office was closed, sometimes nobody responds, and their is no reply to the email. Finally, when I wanted to cancel, the rep said that we would have come multiple times to take care of the problem and the manager would have been involved. I am so SURPRISED that spraying guys did not see COCKROACHES month after month and got him involved, (THAT IT IS NOT WORKING) Their service is terrible. I would never recommend it. read more

It's one start because 0 is not an option, I will tell you the service tech was awesome it's the sales tactic was a bold face lie. I was told when we signed up the initial payment would cover the first two visits, with the second visit a month later. We had our first visit and we were charged the agreed upon rate, along with an added fee for "EasyPay". This was a $55.74 fee to be billed monthly and not after each visit. I never agreed to this option but it was added on their own. I spoke with accounting and a credit was issued to cover this amount. Our second visit just happened and we received another bill, it used my credit and charged me an additional $50+ for this visit. I called again and was told by S*(*^* (name with held) that all visits are billable and there is no such agreement about the first two visits being covered under the first charge. I explained that this is what was told to me and she again stated all visits are billable. I terminated the agreement and will now contact my bank to put a hold on any future Orkin charges and also inquire about a fraud charge back for the second visit. Their current 1-1/2 star review is too generous and Zero stars should be an option. read more

We had first used Orkin last year and they were wonderful, I don't know what happened. We found we have a wasp infestation this past Saturday and they were supposed to come on Tuesday between 8 and 10. No call, no show so we called and the lady said to wait, they'll show up. I had to leave for work so we had to reschedule. they were supposed to come today (Thursday) well my family and I wait again. No one. We call to cancel and we went with a lovely place in park ridge, later I get a call from my mother (the one allergic to wasps) and she let me know they called her back to ask what the complaint was. Whoever was on the phone didn't listen to her and ended up hanging up on my mom. Save your money and use a company that will take your family and your fears seriously. read more

Our regular service guy is great, but Orkin is not responsive to requests to return. We are currently experiencing an ant invasion. I have tried ant traps with no success. They are crawling all over my kitchen counter. I called to have them come back out on Tuesday. First I was told the soonest they could come was Friday. When I said that wasn't acceptable, they offered Thursday. They say they will return if there's a problem, but they refuse to do so in a timely manner. Sheri Ricci July 21, 2024 I am writing regarding the work ORKIN did in my home last year, October 2023. Orkin removed old insulation in the attic, in the home, and garage, then added foam insulation in the basement. I have financed a high price for this service. First and foremost, I was quoted $10,000.00 for the complete project. After I received the financing, I was charged over $12,000.00 then your company back peddled and stated OH NO, that was not the quote, the promise we made was the payment would be under $400.00. Sadly, this was a verbal quote and I have no proof YOU LIED! Second, the foam put in downstairs was not cleaned up nor was it completed, I hired someone to finish the job. Don't worry, I used a different type, therefore you can see the difference. In some areas the product is so thin it's an insulation joke! Then we come to the attics, your rodent resistant insulation is nothing more than "SNAKE OIL"! Shortly after this job was completed, the rodents returned! Yes, returned! I hired someone to come in and pull open the attic access in the house, when they did this, the rodent feces is unbelievable. Yes, I have proof, I took pictures of the insulation that fell to the hallway floor, with a lot of feces and insulation. I am damn angry! I financed a lot of money and have no improvement! If I was not a person that works very hard at keeping a good credit rating, I would not make one more payment on this financed debacle! Your service is not about Investigate, Protect, Fortify, Keep Watch, Report, Follow Up, I truly believe I am a victim of fraud!
